No More Heroes 3 | Part #8: When The Memes Go Marching In

hello everyone and welcome back to G flicks until the next episode right now you're uh you're you're you're new your new Nvidia driver is good to download it okay so I have a question um so like in No More Heroes too the gimmick was that like oh Travis was sitting on his ass and didn't defend his Rank and so he was like rank 100 or something um oh how did somebody take him over and rank without killing him I think I think oh thank God I thought I was losing my [ __ ] mind with the audio now yeah 20 seconds there don't worry about it okay well not sure what happened I think it was because he because he became so inactive that he was just disqualified altogether I don't remember the exact reasoning between the ending of the first game and the beginning of the second game but I figured at that point since he was no longer defending his title he just us lost it which they never which they never replied was an option in the first game but yeah can I just like lock them in a closet and then wait until they're disqualified I mean I guess that that is an option I suppose no that might suffocate we'll kill them anyway how many bosses were in the second game there was I think 12 or 13. 12 or 13. yeah it was more than 10. because I remember that the first game was ten and then I think this game's also 10. yes this game is 10. all right okay I was I was just wondering about that um I wonder because we were we were bringing this up a little bit last time I'm wondering how likely we are that we see another game in this uh obviously I don't know the ending to the story so I don't know if they like um just like write themselves a way to stay keep on making games or if they just decide remember there is a I remember hearing uh suda said this is the last one but he made it yeah as basically as kind of a joke he basically made it so there's definitely a lead into the four if he wants to okay uh which I suppose does make sense because if he if he changes his mind he can always just do another one yeah you always leave yourself a door a window open in case you want to come back even if it doesn't necessarily have to be with Travis because no that's that's what folks like to do right it's like if they want to continue their franchise at some other point down the road it may not necessarily be with the main character it might be with somebody else yeah they definitely opened it up to some new characters so yeah I just I mean I wouldn't like it I wouldn't mind a game with shinobu like to start her entirely because the only the only exception to that is the second game and it was only for a select few missions yeah and there was the the other guy uh Bishop he was playable for like one fight no you mean you mean Henry Henry Henry yeah that's okay um but yeah I know I know he's best friends with his cousin and then we've done nothing happened so I I do think that no more Heroes could definitely continue without Travis because just to spoil it a little bit we do see the kids yeah in this game so oh there you go yeah so we'll get one game with the kids nobody will like and then they'll bring Grandpa Travis back for one more round and that'll truly be the end of the series because [ __ ] you guys are Never Enough oh man oh are we making fun of Call of Duty of roughly 10 years too late oh man I love it I would say 13 years I mean it's it's still hip to make fun of Call of Duty it's still kind of the major on the Block is it if we're talking we're talking if we're talking about milsim Shooters yes um it's fun to make Call of Duty in the same way that it's fun to make fun of the 2000s Transformers movies I suppose where it's just like they're no longer relevant but they were so omnipresent for so long that it just I've been seeing so I'm assuming there's a new Transformer I think so oh no I I saw a funny tweet the other day where it's like it's a two it's two thousand all over again economy crashing Avatar new Transformers movie oh God because Transformers is all over my timeline like last week I was like what's going on it's like is there another movie the 80s will never truly leave um well no it's been it's been more or less the same tweet people are either [ __ ] or praising the Michael Bay movie people praise the Michael Bay movies well I mean it's Ted give it enough time people will say anything people are saying them prequels are good after this the sequels came out listen remember I liked the prequels before it was cool all right we have proof we have proof we have old Star Wars commentaries we're like you know the prequels aren't that bad they're fun to watch it's dumb fun but I'm not attack other clones okay yeah no not attack of the Clones but like you know there's there's stuff to enjoy in one and three um but I mean I suppose but the Transformers were always just such a weird aberration in that these are movies ostensibly designed to appeal to nerd culture you know in the same way that um you know the Batman movies of that time were and uh the Marvel movies ended up being I mean granted the tones are very different between Transformers and Marvel but like you know they're still aiming for a similar audience uh but those movies were just hated by the audience That was supposed to be what they were aimed for you know from what I remember at the very least maybe I've gasolit myself um in like the late 2000s all of the Nerds who loved watching Transformers on TV as kids hated the Transformers movies by Michael Bay they like hated all of them so I I don't remember the exact General consensus because I I saw all well not all three there's more I think there's I think this is the sixth or seventh one the first three I should say so I still like watching the first movie the first Transformers uh because I thought it was a pretty enjoyable ride off throughout the entire film revenge of the following I thought was a piece of [ __ ] even after first you remember the Fallen I think was a victim of the writer strike if I remember correctly like the writers the 2008 treat oh writer strike oh God where's the free space on this card uh but uh what was the third one Dark of the Moon I think it was called that's Pink Floyd hold on no dark side no wait oh God I know one of them is Revenge of the Fallen what something Moon I don't know but no revenge of the Fall was the second one I know that for a fact but the the third one was something Moon and letter Nimoy was like the bad guy but that one put me to sleep like that and it was really [ __ ] long but I remember the general consensus being that the first one was okay the other movies afterwards you can you just skip um I do know that there was some Redemption for the Transformers movies a little bit later um yeah back but by that point it was probably too late yeah it was it was too late which is a shame because Bumblebee from what I understand is unironically very I feel like bumblebee was them attempting uh because I have not seen any of the Transformers movies just for some you know transparency here but the vibe I got from trailers and clips that I saw was that bumblebee was aiming more for uh Fast and the Furious seven plus kind of vibe where it's dumb but it like Embraces it um yeah because that was another Series where like people liked the first two or so and then thought that they were dog [ __ ] for a bit and then they just decided they didn't give a [ __ ] anymore and people started liking them uh again yeah that's what I understand as well and there's also how many of them no uh you know um yeah they're going for a land they're going for a land before time record here [ __ ] hold on what is the lane before time record currently sitting at because they made a new one I think it's 14. you need a new one in like I think it's 14 or something like that uh Land Before Time wow they went that long let's look it up Wikipedia do yeah they're at 14. uh there was the gap between I know Fast and Furious is not at 14 yet yeah so uh Lambert Land Before Time 13 came out November 27 2007 Land Before Time 14 came out February 2nd 2016. um and the reason for that I believe was because Jurassic world sold well and so there were like people like dinosaurs right and then they just decided they'd make another make another one they had they had the right so they're like might as well I I mean sure I guess um but yeah no they'll they'll get there at some point I'm sure as long as Vin Diesel wants to keep making money um they'll keep making Fast and the Furious is is um family family family yeah there's currently there's currently 10 movies uh with the 11th already announced do anything else anymore I don't does he need to well he's Groot isn't he yeah yeah he's he's grew in Guardians again not to disrespect um voice actors here because I feel like they put in a lot of work and Vin Diesel does put in a lot of range for a character who literally has four uh words of dialogue um but I don't think Groot takes up that much of his time well you say outrage is not what I would use range by virtue of him playing a radically different character than before sure but the voice is still the diesel it's just modulated um I guess more what I meant was like a lot of the time for things like this um with like Mega franchises that are super successful um the actors or directors or whoever behind them will keep doing them but the expectation is is that the studio will let them do whatever else dumb [ __ ] that they want to do um kind of like as a break or whatever um the big example I can think of is second Seth macfarland where like he continues to rip his soul out doing Family Guy which I believe he's set on record he doesn't particularly like doing anymore because Fox then lets him do other [ __ ] [ __ ] he likes to do like the Star Wars Star Trek pairs um which you know like okay fair um and I know that was another thing um Michael Bay where Michael Bay um there was some movie he did that like he had been trying to work on for for years and they finally let him do after doing like three Transformers movies um and I can't remember what it is for the life of me um was it a 13 hours maybe I don't I don't really remember I don't I don't watch Michael Bay movies because they're not good so all right so between so the the few movies between Transformers was Pain and Gain that was I think that was the one I forget why he had been working why it was like such a passion project for him but I believe that was it um um and then like uh Christopher Nolan like in between him doing Batman movies they let him do like basically whatever the hell he wanted as well um so like I just I'm surprised that Vin Diesel hasn't been like yo I want to do a musical and then they were just like sure if anything he'd want to do another Chronicles of Riddick movie because that was a passion project for him oh you know what considering that that we're getting to the point where two thousands of nostalgia probably is going to start any day now I wouldn't be surprised if they let him do another one if it hasn't already because those 23 years I mean 2000 massage we haven't gone through 90s Nostalgia yet we got that one Power Rangers movie and that was it listen we're we're kinda we're kinda sort of getting there or a tiny tiny bit more in video games than movies they're gonna lump them together to be fair yeah jumping over Millennials just like the news cycle yeah listen we got it here are the hot new thing now polls wise uh we gotta do our 14th Ninja Turtles reboot we can't do any 90s Nostalgia wow gosh Ryan and they're gonna they're gonna do a like a nostalgic reboot throwing back to the four kids Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before they like reboot 90 [ __ ] didn't they do that already with uh that was that that was that Turtles Forever uh that did nothing but take this [ __ ] out of the 80s Turtles for some reason that was like 12 that was like 12 years ago okay okay to be fair I I do [ __ ] on the turtles a little bit the new movie where they basically rip off spider versus art style does look pretty damn cool um you know what also did that it's Puss in Boots the second movie um [ __ ] had an animation style like spider-verse and very infrequent moments in the movie which is was kind of distracting but it's still looking I've not seen that I've heard it's very good uh it's a very good I do um I wonder that they're making so much that other thing about making a fist wreck movie now oh God can we so anyway about that 90s and 2000s well come on we were literally just talking about so weird though cause Shrek one and two are but he is the he is that he is the embodiment of early 2000 yeah but it's just it's weird because like Shrek one and two are legitimately pretty damn good movies but like yeah it's also like such a thing that I have no desire to ever like see a Shrek five like ever um I wouldn't either because I I stopped watching after the second movie I still have not seen this third or fourth movie and from what I understand that I'm not missing I've only seen like half of trick three which was enough um it's just it's one of those things where I feel like they kind of missed the point um a little bit and it's also kind of frustrating because Shrek is inherently kind of a mean-spirited movie um and I'm a little bit over that that's the entire first movie is just [ __ ] you Disney uh it's not even just [ __ ] you Disney it's specifically [ __ ] you Michael Eisner like once you realize how specifically they hate Michael Eisner in that movie it's just like you can't unsee it um uh also it but it's like it is it's just it's also really well made so it's it's just it's weird um I don't know uh man um it's just animations also in a strange spot right now because you know we've got effectively like just you know what I was gonna say Disney but I feel like Disney also has been kind of in a rut over the past handful of years maybe this is just yeah Pixar's been making mostly the same stuff over and over um I mean we got we got we got spider verse but the problem I have and maybe I'm not alone in this but a lot of Animation projects if they don't get any sort of promotion they're just thrown onto the streaming service yeah and I know nothing about it and it just kind of Blends in with everything else that's available I mean to be fair there was you know a whole pandemic that you know made things difficult because the first like the Mario movie is the first movie that I can animate a movie I can think of with a major theatrical release um I'm struggling to think of any other animated movies that they made a big deal about yeah because we don't count Sonic or Sonic's hybrid Sonic I would say is a live action movie at least from what I've yeah it's more live action yeah you know uh nobody's calling Alvin's in the Chipmunks from the 2000s on uh animated movie so I am congratulations you're you're the only one um yes where's our Alvin and the Chipmunks 2000s Nostalgia at well because that's a property from the 60s so oh yeah oh so it's Boomers there already got it too good Nostalgia okay yeah so they'll definitely they'll definitely make another one because you know God forbid the Boomers have to have to wait for a reboot of something they like man we've been listening to the same goddamn uh Christmas music for 60 goddamn years because Boomers don't want to listen to anything new only like Mariah Carey they do like Mariah Carey I was gonna say but um you know we have to we also have to battle to lock Mariah Carey in our ice present every year and I don't know how much worth it that is [Laughter] so someone on the development staff certainly liked pop team Epic oh poppy team epic now that's a name I haven't heard for a long long time well it had a second season last year so I did was it good it was pop team epic so it made fun of family Fantasy 14 so oh 14 okay maybe it's worth it then yeah they did they did a they did a couple of things with 14 specifically which made me think that whoever's in charge of that show actually the gentleman likes the king what in the guy I told you pop team epic [ __ ] is this I mean this is just nonsense I'm pretty sure I saw like three of these gifts in my old geocities web page that I made in high school I'm sure she's saying something in silently and yeah all this is missing is the Adult Swim logo on the bottom right of the screen yeah Squidbillies like yeah oh God Squidbillies so yeah our boss fight this time is musical chairs listen nobody can ever deny that uh grasshopper wasn't having fun when they were making this game uh like I don't think anybody can can deny that no you can't deny that you know when they were showing like the people coming in and there was the um like them bang on the drums I was thinking of uh uh potato drum Master but um like now it's like that we're actually playing a rhythm game um this is a little bit more fitting than I thought it was um so you're just timing the button press with the metronome so as long as you press the button within the yellow bar essentially I think so yeah uh it counts you do three rounds of this and then you have the actual boss fight how like strict is it with this like mini game it's not very strict man I haven't played actual musical chairs in probably 25 years um just since I was in elementary school you know is that wait hold on was that uh I'm a fire in my laser swoop reference in the year 2021 probably oh my God oh my God I hate that I hate that so much so weird [ __ ] episode of squid games dude there's an actual squid I thought it was the name listen when that show got on Netflix I just thought people were talking about Splatoon for like four weeks um I was gonna say where the where's the incline that's the actual as the actual quote-unquote game show of it come out yet or are they are they still completely missing the point of that series I was like wouldn't isn't that missing the point entirely yes but never underestimate capitalism didn't they be like oh now you can compete in this contest in order to participate in Squid games and it's just like bruh bruh did you literally not watch the show um no so you just have to not be the last person on the it's musical chairs okay well you don't die you just become an animated gif yeah but is that a life that you want to live depends on how mimetic it is because you know you can see a lot of [ __ ] Revenue you're the man now dog how are you gonna spend your money when you're stuck as an animated gif okay [ __ ] you're living on the blockchain dude so it's all crypto yeah but how are you gonna money's only worth something if you can spend it no money is only worth as much as you think it's worth you're right uh money's fake um having worked at a bank now for over a year I can tell you extremely right now uh money is the fakest [ __ ] you've ever seen in your life did you know that if everybody went to the bank literally right now and then tried to take all of their money out as cash they literally would not be able to do it because the bank doesn't actually have the money that they put into the bank they just say that they do um and everybody just everybody knows this but they all just kind of agree that it works because [ __ ] money and [ __ ] the economy um [Laughter] I put money in the building out of sight out of mind so wait is it possible for the boss to lose the game musical chairs and they just get [ __ ] incinerated by the octopus well you have to win the last round so yeah yeah but I was saying like before the final round is it possible that they could build a chair girl always better I wonder if there's like any way you can like so that she doesn't sit down and two other people sit down yeah I mean I guess then you would lose so it doesn't matter but um if you screw up the metronome what happens uh you just have a slow start getting to the chair okay so you can't take it that she lost us he takes a cyanide pill oh [ __ ] Evangelion oh she exploded into Tang okay I guess that that makes sense fill the chair girl dead bruh it's just musical chairs is there an actual boss fight yes okay this is really [ __ ] lame we fight the activist thingy imagine being the top tier musical chairs uh champion and losing to this [ __ ] though I'd be pretty depressed too [Music] it's getting super weird why are you still on the chair I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going that's why it must be stopped give us a moment to do our cool posing oh thanks that's a you know the poor octopus was just trying to hang out with his best friend and we did murder her so I suppose I understand no she killed her she killed herself she killed herself I mean but we made her kill herself no we didn't no we just played a game of musical chairs and she didn't take the loss very well that's not her fault I mean we could have if we if we knew she was gonna kill her no all right we didn't play the game knowing that she was gonna if we played the game knowing that she would kill herself if she lost then you could probably make an argument for that so I gotta power up and absolutely wreck the boss yeah is it supposed to be that easy no okay I just happened to get like the most overpowered power up in the game so on the roulette so showing your friend in Tang hell oh ooh I I don't like that I don't like that at all I just you know maybe imagine that being the first thing you [ __ ] wake up to spooge oh that guy's also made a Tang okay okay that was awesome I'm I think it's just oh I I thought it was a d for some reason um because I can't [ __ ] read uh so I thought it was like dimma or whatever demo or dhma it really is just like tears I don't know what the point of that was 37 seconds there was a boss to fight therefore it is cool cool hi Sylvia oh is Sylvia now a meme why do you have superpowers why is she moving like that if I take down the baddest dude in the Galaxy then are you a bad enough dude to be the baddest dude in the galaxy I'm going all the way to the edge okay that's the funniest thing kind of looks like Captain Marvel now I think about it yeah shout outs to Sonic juice I'm surprised they haven't tried to make a sonic Juice yet yeah it's called no they do it's called that [ __ ] it's whatever that g fuel uh thing is there's a Sonic his face is on one of the brands um give me a second I think it's Peach flavored Peach flavored hold on you are making a juice for Sonic the Hedgehog and they made it Peach flavored excuse me um yeah here it is uh she fuel Energy Formula Sonic's face right on the [ __ ] thing it's peach rings uh I guess because you know he collects rings and what's a fruit candy that has already ring shaped and peach rings I guess he just liked the last flavor I was yeah like I associate Sonic I'm trying to think some you know a Sonic themed drink would probably just taste like battery acid um sign me up uh okay sure yeah it was like I can't really think of anything else I mean there's a so G Phil has also this like I'm guessing it's a powder mix and this one's just fruit punch but it also has Sonic and his friends on it too how many of the shitty friends uh uh let me see I think I'll make what do you classify as a shitty friend well if we go by what Sega thinks is one of Sonic's shitty friends it's all of them so it's anybody that's not something oh okay well then it's all of it then everybody including Sonic he's also a shitty friend no the Sonic Tails Knuckles Amy and Shadow just tucked away in the bottom line oh so it's not even for the movie it's just for like it's just yeah it's just generic Sonic branding for the 30th anniversary I'm surprised okay
