New Toys! Darth Bane! New Mando Poster!

hello star wars fans hey they're just 83 days until christmas 2020 and boy is it busy at the north pole we are uh in full toy production mode as we get closer to christmas and today we're going to talk about some of the toys that were announced this week and uh to kind of see what you all think uh i have some thoughts about uh a lot of them and uh i think it'll be it'll be fun today to talk about it so uh with that let's let's uh let's take a look and see what we have uh from the from the toys that were announced so let me bring this up here here we go so first of all we have in uh hot toys hot toys uh announced several new uh uh collections or a new collection with uh with a bunch of new uh star wars toys and uh of course the darth maul made uh news good morning mike porter oh boy welcome glad to have you here so uh yeah hot toys uh announced some new figures and there are some things that uh were were criticized some things that were uh allotted the uh the the darth mauls i mentioned and i've got them up here you can see there's a whole bunch we've got the mandalorian on pre-order for 243 these hot toys are not cheap my friends uh 243 dollars for the mandalorian uh we've got uh luke skywalker deluxe version it's almost gone oh and boy that's a good looking figure uh let's see if we can get that open uh reaverman good morning hello welcome yeah look at those figures now this is uh this luke skywalker deluxe version this this is the older luke uh you can see him here and uh we can we can take a look at these i think they're i think they're great they look they look wonderful um the detail in these figures is amazing but you know you're paying for it you're definitely paying for it uh it's it's not cheap right so look at that it looks magnificent looks magnificent so we've got we've got uh let's see if i do that we've got the duck deluxe luke skywalker here for 245 he looks great uh we've got a whole bunch of others as well let's get these to load up again uh it's it's uh it takes a little while for this page to load uh while it does uh let me go oh here we go good we've got uh a sith trooper these are these are uh the new ones so we've got of course uh some some that were here for some time but we've got now uh and this one i saw some time ago the mandalorian and the child deluxe version uh you know i should uh right click and open that in a new window so that i don't have to keep going back yeah uh dale good morning oh i need coffee no kidding no kidding uh santa's had some some uh caffeine this morning as well so this this mandalorian child has been out for some time uh it's still on order uh patricia hello oh welcome thanks for coming yeah i love luke but not for that much no yeah i think with these hot toys you've got a you've got to really really love a character in in certainly you don't collect all of them at least the the average person isn't uh you might get you might get one uh but i can't see somebody going out and getting the you know all of them the darth maul is one of them that caught attention this week and i'm gonna i'm gonna start opening these in a new window that way i i don't have to reload the uh the hot toys page because that that one's pretty slow to load uh and the the thing with these hot toys and you can see wow these are big figures right um 260 dollars for uh darth maul and i was looking at i mean they come with like a half dozen different uh sets of hands you've got an open hand you've got a hand that's uh closed for holding the the lightsaber you've got you see both of these hands are closed here uh the articulation on these they've got over 20 points of articulation they're just uh tremendous figures the detail looks amazing right they they look absolutely great so that's that's darth maul we we also had uh you can see there's a bunch of them here pre-ordered luke and uh it goes on and on but there was i wanted to bring up uh ray because uh this one oh shoot i i clicked instead of right-clicking uh that's okay this is the last one i want to talk about with the hot toys so the ray figurine uh from hot toys got a little bit of criticism uh because some people don't think that it looks like daisy ridley and for the money you're paying you know over 200 uh what do you all see do you get does that look like daisy mark hamilton oh welcome glad to see you yeah do you think that looks like daisy is that i mean you're paying over 200 dollars for a hot toy uh you want that detail right look at the hair you can see that uh the hair looks great uh let's let's go on through here you can see uh look it comes with that helmet you can close the blast shield uh on the helmet very posable right like these things are are just incredible and the the detail looks great but do you think that looks like daisy oh yeah just see what you guys think look i just think it looks i think it looks tremendous let me let me uh increase the size of this for you guys just a little bit yeah daisy looked mad yeah well you kind of kind of figured right there's an expression on there what's she gonna look like um again i mean while they're they've got interchangeable hands and they've got you know a lot of articulation the face is the face right so um they had to they had to decide maybe of course you get a do there but i don't know i to me it looks like daisy uh i know a lot of people said it doesn't look like daisy and they're really mad about it they're like oh i don't want to spend that much money for a hot toy that uh doesn't look like uh the character but i don't know to me i think that looks like daisy so uh so that's yeah you can see here here's the collection right so you get the training uh droid uh the satchel the helmet the d.o of course the cloak she's wearing has the hood that'll go up uh the belt uh the the lightsaber will hang on the belt there you get the lightsaber uh a stan and then you know seven different hand figures lord vito oh welcome glad to see you so i i mean these things are these things are cheap uh 243 dollars so uh that's that's quite pricey uh but we've got a whole bunch of uh hot toy from from the sequel trilogy which brings up a point because we also had another plaque series figure announced yesterday and this was uh i it came up on my uh email the elves said hey santa oh we've got a new release for you uh and uh it was sold out by the time i could click on it come to find out this thing sold out in 15 minutes under 15 minutes they sold out of uh darth vader which just kind of shows or not darth vader oh santa got ahead of himself uh cat bait cabin which just shows how popular uh caffeine is uh certainly probably my favorite uh villain or bad guy if you want to put it that way i love cad paint i think he's great and uh i don't know uh have you guys seen uh the uncut or the unfinished reel from the clone wars animated series uh you're aware of what happens with had bean and uh and and our our favorite sarlacc uh meal uh right do you know uh what happened between uh cad bain and boba fett and uh in the unfinished reel and uh what do you think is cad bane alive or is cat being dead uh now there's the official uh the there's the official line that leaves it un unknown because that unfinished reel wasn't ever uh uh broadcast it was never finished and it was never uh uh put on uh mark don't worry there's a regular line cad being hitting targets yeah the regular yeah the the regular line doesn't come with uh the toto 360. i'm gonna catch that phone call later so um yeah it doesn't come with the with the with the droid the the toto uh so uh the the mainline one comes with just darth vain but uh yeah this one sold out they're already listed on ebay for up to 150 dollars 150 for a black series uh cad bane with uh with the uh toto uh 360 droid so yeah oh good morning drew's reviews glad to see you here thanks for joining so yeah cabin came out and he sold out um pretty much immediately uh in the special release on uh hasbro's site there uh the pulse here and just as an update because uh i i've been following this santa has ordered three of these uh gonna sell two of them uh we're keeping one for ourselves but uh the the has lab uh razor crest here has uh over nine thousand backers now so just as an update nine thousand backers means we're less than a a thousand away from uh getting our uh uh the child uh so there's yeah yeah mike the unfinished meal yeah uh that's boba fett boba fett is is the sarlacc meal that's uh i'm sticking to it until i get proof that he came out i know that there are different things out there that uh boba fett got out of the sarlacc but i'm leaving him in there until i see him in uh the mandalorian i i i'm not a boba fett fan you guys know that oh i love to give josh a hard time bob because he is uh he he's a big uh boba fett uh fan so at 10 thousand backers we get uh the child uh here and uh somebody pointed out to me that the child in his hand here uh is holding the ball uh and i can't i can't get this picture bigger uh i tried to enlarge it but he's holding there it is uh he's holding the ball from the razor crest and when you look at the uh razor crest you can see it's just a threaded it's a threaded stick on there so uh with the unlocked uh child you get that and see this is great this is great so at 10 000 backers this gets released and uh that's we're we're less than a thousand away uh so we check here today at the time of uh this stream there's 9037 we need uh just 863 more 863 more so there we go uh uh you can uh get a case of darkseid toys mark uh here we go let's let's uh let's let's show this the assortment is indoor han indoor leia indoor luke the armor cad bane the uh incinerator trooper hoth rebel trooper phase one clone trooper and it's a it's a oh i'm gonna have to go check that out there at dorkside toys that'll be great uh so uh yeah uh and then drew's reviews the razer crest became an instant classic iconic ship such a great ship yeah you know uh uh drew uh there's some speculation that uh the razor crest was actually in rise and i saw a screen capture that uh you can see uh engines uh like this uh behind some trees in the in the woods in the foliage there and they're wondering if perhaps that's the razor crest in uh rise of skywalker i i don't know i don't know if i buy that it is but uh could be i gotta go look i don't think the scale looks right for it to be uh the razer crest in my mind uh it looks more uh it looks different it looks different it looks like a smaller ship um this is more of a cargo kind of ship so so we've got uh some new hot toys we've got some new uh toys here being released still by hasbro and then we've got uh oh mike mike i see where your head is boba fett character designed to sell toys and collectibles i'm convinced yeah you know what santa has a little bit of an inkling myself i think uh you know one of the most popular characters out there uh it's hot everywhere it's hot on t-shirts it's hot in uh toys it's hot in collectibles it's hot uh online you see uh everywhere it's gotta be the child right baby yoda is everywhere and you know there's those collectible versions of uh the child that are animated they do motions absolutely fantastic even even josh at the dinner nerds has a fantastic uh child uh figure that he would he had when the trailer was released uh looks great santa's theory the child's going to talk in season two he's gonna have some first words and there's gonna be a whole new soil of of toys sold that have that speak the figure all right right so you'll have the the the child that doesn't speak and then you're going to get the child that does speak you're going to have to get both oh that's that's uh let's wait we'll see i'll bet you i'm right so uh we talked there's some hot toys figures hasbro has some new toys but then uh it and i want to just bring this up because um if you guys are following uh um on in twitter there's a there's a a guy out on twitter who's uh i'll shoot i just forgot his name uh you know mark will give it to me but but uh funko has also released a line of new toys it's related to the um that's related to the uh uh clone wars uh series so you first of all and and a lot of people don't remember this but uh from season seven there's some there's some hooded figures that are going with sabine and uh the uh wear cloaks and they've got uh mandalorian helmets uh the helmets look like this and if you'll see uh these are called the night owls nite house night owls the the night owls uh which is what i think the figure the cloak figure in the background of the first mando trailer i think she's a night owl uh one of those that travel with sabine now the only difficulty there she doesn't have her helmet on and and in the um in the mandalorian if you don't wear a helmet you can't put it back on right if you're seen without the helmet you can't put it on but we'll also saw that in the mandalorian that uh those uh characters sometimes had to go out uh disguised which means that they didn't have their helmets on so uh you just can't know who they are right you can't know who they are so uh this this figure up here is a night out it's one of the uh from season seven i think it's in episode six if i remember right i gotta look again i'm pretty sure it's episode six uh season seven episode six you see the night owls in there uh this is one of the mandalorian night owls one of the female characters that runs uh with sabine and then of course you've got the others that are fairly recognizable uh you know between darth maul and ahsoka uh here you've got another one of the mandalorian uh that are uh serving under maul as he is the leader of mandalore uh during the end of season six and seven so uh and then of course we've got our bad batch member here all right so so uh these funko pops were announced this week uh funko pops uh uh are still popular i know a lot of people don't like them uh they're starting to fall out of favor but i think i think they're great so uh so there's that and then uh so those are the toys this morning we've got some hot toys we've got some uh hasbro toys we've got some funko pops uh lots of things being uh made here at the north pole and as we're doing that i wanted to bring up again that i'm gonna have a giveaway on my channel i've got them here as we get new we got to make room for the uh new by getting rid of some of the old so uh we've got here some uh yeah yeah mark you see some uh uh common so there you go that that's uh that's our toy review this morning there's a couple other things to talk about let me uh let me close down some of these uh toy uh tabs here and we've got a couple more topics to talk about the first one let me bring up uh the screen again is darth bane star wars projects being developed uh and uh this this hit the news really big on all the channels this week and yesterday on the dinner nerds live and i know everybody here will morgan oh i don't think i've said hello yet welcome thanks for coming today uh so uh dinner nerds yesterday uh that they had uh lord callus on there and i absolutely love lord kalas he's great uh he was kind enough to come on here and and uh do a live stream with me and uh that was just wonderful uh he's a good guy uh but uh and i gotta agree with josh his voice is is one it's just great his knowledge is great i i really really like i really really like uh lord kalas but uh he he gave some great content yesterday on dinner nerds live and uh talk about darth vader it was the bane of his mother's existence right so uh that's how when he became darth vade uh so i almost asked this trivia question and i still might do it on twitter uh uh do you want to see darth bane in a live action series on disney plus and i was going to give three options uh one yes two no three darth bane question mark right so my feeling is and i i absolutely agree with lord kalas from yesterday we have a character here who's established we have a character who uh from a lore perspective is well uh well established but folks know who he is at least uh some of the hardcore fans know who he is right of course the normies have no idea who darth bane is there's absolutely no clue uh uh drew one oh yes yeah uh so the normies have no idea who darth bane is so there's two sides of this argument i can see and i i agree with lord callus i don't see uh why you need a darth bane series unless you want to tell his story if you're going to go tell darth bane's story in live action you're going to bring some of the stuff that is now in legends material of course darth bane has been introduced in canon in the in the clone wars you see that in this character here on the on the right uh he was in the clone wars animated series uh darth bane has been introduced in canon but um his story has not been told in canon but his story has been told in legends and he's really well known and uh he's one of the favorite from for many people uh within the star wars community but outside of the more the hardcore fans uh your normies and your casuals so uh and and i kind of put that two ways right so normies are those that just watch the movie they have no idea i mean they've heard of star wars and they know what uh who darth vader is as they seem but they couldn't name other characters necessarily um that you and i might be able to name uh and then you've got your casuals the name you know they'll watch the animated series they know the characters names but they're not really uh hardcore you know from a perspective of really getting uh deep into the lore and understanding uh star wars universe as a whole um and and then uh so for me i think that darth bane from the normies and even the casuals isn't that big of a character and they're not going to know who he is and so they can get by with telling any story they want to but if they do that if they if they tell any story they want to but they attach it to darth bane uh they'll have an uprising again and we already have a division in the fandom we have a huge divide uh made through the sequels and uh uh and especially from uh uh the last jedi i just don't think well there you are you must have heard me invoke your name lord kalas oh we were just talking about you uh huge fans here uh in star wars say this uh community we love you uh so uh yeah i just don't think it it's worth it to uh rip that um community further apart so uh we know the last jedi has divided the community we know that if they go into doing uh darth bane uh in live action on disney plus or even an animated uh series that features darth vader i absolutely agree with lord callus uh they need to retell his story um it's already established in legends and actually that could help bring some of the fans uh back into the fold if you were to go and tell darth bane's story tell it show it to us right don't change it be true to him be true to who darth bane is tell his story on an animated form or in live action don't deviate from the story of course you can take uh small liberties here and there like they do with any novel right so if you've been a fan of uh harry potter or even jurassic park or any of that they come from novel adaptations uh are some some things that change right so uh but they're minor they don't they don't change the nature of the character they're still who they are but i think when uh when we get into darth bane if they want to tell his story that could actually bring some of the fans that would feel like uh they were uh kind of backhanded by disney when uh all that legends material was decanonized and we're going to be honest it was never canon they just you know in their in their own minds it was still open for that so um yeah i i think that that could help so i'm i'm cautiously optimistic i would say uh regarding uh darth bane if they if they're going to bring him in do it right uh lord kalas is absolutely correct bring him in do it right tell his story uh don't don't change him don't swap him uh make him uh who he is and uh you can do a lot of good otherwise leave him alone come up with a new character tell that story uh reefer man okay let's see what you got um what i i just haven't read this uh when it comes to current canon i don't really know a whole lot of uh this universe to be quite honest read a lot of books and all the comics and cartoons yeah um uh reefer man there's been a lot come out lately and and uh i'm currently reading the uh the latest thrawn novel uh the the chaos novel so that's that's the one i'm in the middle of now uh there is a quite a bit of stuff in the new canon this is really good uh and one of the ones that i would like to recommend and then did this when lord kalas came on uh the live stream with me is uh and apprentice that to me is a is a wonderful novel uh it goes back to the prequel era and uh tells a great story of qui-gon jinn uh and and let you see into the training of obi-wan kenobi and sort of their relationship a really really solid book uh uh mastered an apprentice is really good oh that was part two now let's go up here uh uh reaper man there you go when it came to legends material uh the eu i was on top of everything ken and what and what not as far as the names of characters all the books i could tell you about with my shot right but you ran out of room yeah okay you ran out of room and that's where you said when it comes to current gaming you don't know so there you go a reefer man that's fair enough uh and that makes that makes better context when i read them together yeah um you know that's true for a lot of uh the more hardcore fans and i have a very good friend of mine who uh was it is in your category he read all the all the material uh he's a deputy sheriff uh in a a nearby he's a police officer uh great great uh fella but uh when they killed chewbacca in the novels he checked out and he hasn't read anything since so absolutely he can tell you about all the characters that come from before but they made him so mad with the killing of chewbacca or letting chewbacca die that uh he checked out he hasn't read a single thing not a comic a book nothing uh since i'm trying to talk him into reading some of the new stuff um mastering apprentice was good uh lord kaos they've done a pretty good job with the novelizations for the current uh candidate i agree with you yeah absolutely uh there's some that i don't care for well we talked about that uh reaper man uh chewbacca's death made me cry uh yeah for him for my for my friend made him mad and he just threw away he threw away that book oh he didn't even keep it he threw it in the trash i'm done and then that book went in the trash and he still has his collection but like he didn't throw all of his collection into directions but uh yeah he was just not he's not okay with that he's not and and you know to be honest for the folks that have been around for the eu for a long time there's good and bad in there right uh in that eu content and that's what i think sort of made that nice is in the eu and it's sort of a smart thing that lucas did he he saw it as a uh alternate universe right like a parallel universe and then he could pick stuff out of there and pull it in as he wanted but uh for for the most time uh he he just left it alone but that allowed people to canonize or decanonize whatever they liked uh and and just as a general principle when you introduce characters like that the less you flesh them out the more you let uh fans division in their minds and the more you let them envision the more they can connect with a character and and adopt that character into their own as you start to fully flesh out that character and develop it further you can wear away some of the edges that bring some of the people into yeah uh so there you go uh yeah i saw your comment there we for me still have to finish the final book in the old star wars canon apocalypse uh yeah i haven't read that one uh uh not familiar with that so so anyway so darth vader um just uh if you if you missed it yesterday uh uh lord couch yesterday on the dinner nerds live uh they covered this topic fantastically i'm in complete agreement with lord kalas on this one so uh lastly i want to bring up uh this new poster right there's a new poster for the mandalorian and it looks great i love this thing let me uh let me make this bigger for you all right let's see let's get that all the way up there so this poster uh here he is uh on a bike still on that water planet you notice right there they're still in this water planet uh i think this is great because it's october it sort of has that uh halloween uh uh feel to it it's uh you know you've got a little bit of a of a cloud cover with the moon uh the light from behind uh the coloring with the like purples and blues uh it's absolutely brilliant i love this of course you see the child uh here attached to the side and he's riding the bike this this is just a just a really cool poster i love it i love it i think it looks great um i don't think there's anything in the reveal here that uh ruins anything it's just super hyped so uh by changing the topic here to uh uh the mandalorian uh bring up today is friday right oh you knew that today is friday but uh with friday i've been doing uh just a summary of uh each of the mandalorian uh uh episodes from season one and i've been pulling a favorite quote from each of the uh the episodes so let me just pull up my own twitter here a little uh self promotion in every friday i've been going in and just taking a quote from uh the previous or from the parallel from season one as we lead up to uh season two and uh in here let me go back i'll show you what the last uh uh quote that i shared from last friday i got it down here a little bit we've been talking about toys a lot uh and i don't know yeah i get there i'll get there it's coming almost there almost there christmas is coming the live stream there we go reading chaos rising here we go child all right santa's been active on twitter right so i'm trying to trying to uh you know raise awareness here we've got uh congrats all that blah blah blah so like here's one uh from season two uh uh episode three and though so the quote i shared was uh from the armor right why would an enemy help you in battle the man lori did not know it was my enemy i love that right so uh so uh every week i've been uh sharing from an episode so later today i'll do that i believe today we're up to and i must have missed it in my in my stream here uh we're up to episode five so i think five six seven eight and then we go straight into um uh yeah we're four weeks away from uh episode one or as uh they've said in in the uh starwars.com right or you look at the you look at the um the it's it's episode nine actually so it's season two episode one but it's episode nine in the story and i know there was some uh originally some speculation about would there be a time jump but no it's going straight into this going straight into uh uh episode nine it's so they're they're undivided well that i'm i'm i i apologize because i'm i'm i'm kind of reading here right so uh drew uh this was great i i saw this and it distracted me it was good could have used a red slave tiny reindeer though oh boy drew you are spot on uh and there's a actually there's a hilarious uh thing with the the razor crest that says if they get i think it was something like 80 000 backers that uh you'll get a special paint job it was uh green and red and white and all that so it was kind of funny but uh yeah i could have used a red sleigh and a tiny reindeer that is awesome oh i love that uh lord kalas thank you yeah that was a great line i've been trying to pick out from each uh episode a line that i think is just a you know really iconic for this the show to kind of just um characterize uh the the episode and so i'm going to do that again today if you guys have a favorite quote from uh the episode uh i'd love to get some feedback in my in my tweets and we'll we'll see that uh uh mark uh don't be giving hasbro ideas uh santa decommando uh which which oh you guys i love you uh so yeah uh there there's some great stuff out there and i i told mrs claus last night santa really needs that uh that uh santa themed uh uh and i don't know if you saw it hasbro uh released a a series that were christmas uh holiday themed and there's a trooper that is uh decked out as santa and so but but dang on it they were sold out i so i've missed on on two major releases that i really wanted to get and i saw lord kalis was able to snatch up uh one of the uh black series figures um i think uh you'll have to remind me i think was cara dune right uh no the armor yeah lord callous got the armorer and she is already super hot on the retail market uh the resale market ebay uh had uh and uh she's in high demand lord callus was able to snatch one of those up before they sold out and uh i got myself one of those dark ray uh figures as well so uh i yeah i'd buy a santa figure yeah me too uh uh uh star star action figures they haven't uh uh mark uh uh how bad are they marked up right so that's not always the problem is uh a 20 figure it goes for 50 or 60. i i'd rather get up for for 20 or 30 right so that was that was the news so um we're coming up on nine o'clock i just uh thanks so much for you all being here uh they're not marked up okay well i'll go look out there mark i appreciate the lead um uh star action figures they have the santa trooper i will be out there uh uh immediately following the show and uh see what i can find uh again uh 83 they're they're uk but they'll mail internationally okay i'll have to look uh see what that shipping is going to cost me if they'll ship it for free or uh reasonable right if it's uh 20 or 30 to give 29 whatever to get him and then it's another 30 do you haven't shipped here that's still not going to work but anyway um we're we're 83 days until christmas it's getting exciting here at north pole and as i've been doing lately i've been uh promoting that uh santa is uh oh i went the wrong way santa is uh going to be doing virtual visits this year uh with a service called jingle ring and jingle ring as a as an outfit they've got some disney studio animators uh and i saw where some disney folks were um laid off this week but uh they've got animators who've made some fantastic characters uh some interactive activities for folks to do online and uh and visit with santa with your family uh using this services again it's called jingle ring my code on there to be able to talk to santa star wars santa is 40. if you if you want to have a visit with santa you want to have uh you know some children there nieces nephews uh grandchildren uh your own children uh whatever the case might be uh you go down the jingle ring you put in code 40 you schedule a visit with santa you'll get to talk to me oh it'll be wonderful so i've been promoting that and i will continue to let you all uh know that uh jingle ring is there we're taking reservations now uh it's exciting time and uh you'll have a virtual visit with santa real we'll be able to interact and talk
