NEW Tesla Model Y Launched In EU | We Want It Now

today we're getting into the latest Tesla news including the new model y why you may want to buy now cybertruck battery updates and more so let's get into it and a special thanks to sbird for they offer an ownership experience that few other EV manufacturers can match at least not at a comparable price to back that up we are now getting some new data that goes to show just how satisfied most Tesla customers are with their purchase Bloomberg conducted a study on drivers across the US asking them whether they would be likely to choose another car from the same brand when they eventually had to get a new vehicle Tesla LED the pack pretty substantially with 87% of owners reporting they were likely to get another Tesla that's an astounding retention rate especially compared to the next two runner UPS Lexus at 68% and Toyota at 54% Tesla doesn't just have a high retention rate but they are beating tons of Legacy automakers and even siphoning away a lot of their potential customers Bloomberg reports that 81% of customers that are considering buying a Tesla are new customers switching from a competing brand that also offers EV options even if these people owned a car from another brand they know that if they want the best EV experience out there then shopping Tesla is the way to go Tesla's head of investor relations tweeted that 90% of their sales last year were to people who had never owned a Tesla before he adds that their quote replacement cycle hasn't even fulled fully kicked in yet the overwhelming majority of Tesla's sales are to new customers and a great majority of those customers start to feel some loyalty to the brand as these customers start to want new vehicles especially as Tesla begins offering new options like upgraded model 3s and cyber trucks then the company will have established a very sustainable customer base Tesla has had a bit of a sales slowdown in the past quarter but their overall Outlook is still looking very positive while competition has been heating up to a degree with new and Legacy automakers beginning to offer new models Tesla is still the dominant EV maker in the US and abroad that dominance ultimately comes from building a great product that motivates people to keep coming back next up today while the new model 3 and its ludicrous trim have gotten a lot of attention lately Tesla has just unveiled a brand new option that nobody was expecting around 5 years ago now Tesla first unveiled the model y when it came out onto the stage it looked quite similar to the model 3 but we now know just how much larger it is and how much larger it feels compared to a model 3 in any case they started by unveiling four trims standard range long range dual motor all-wheel drive and performance for the longest time especially in the US Tesla only sold the top two trims of this car now the standard Range model is shipping everywhere as well but a very popular option for many customers is that fourth one long range rear wheel drive many don't actually care about or need all-wheel drive on their model Y and they instead prefer better efficiency and more range for myself this is often my preference living in California and the rear World Drive model y was actually the car I pre-ordered back in 2019 but they never shipped it in the US in most places around the world if you want to order a model y you have three options standard range rear wheel drive longrange all-wheel drive and all-wheel drive performance now however if you live in Europe you'll have a fourth option that will likely prove to be a hugely popular addition to the lineup Tesla's always looking for ways to bring down the cost of their EVS often times this comes with production and design optimization and part simplification but sometimes it comes with a new trim Tesla Europe and Middle East posted on X saying introducing mod Y longrange re wheel drive maximum range that allows you to commute all week without charging at an even more accessible price 600 km wltp when equipped with 19-in Gemini Wheels 217 km perh top speed lowest cost per kilometer in the electric SUV Market 14.9 kwatt hours per 100 km keep in mind that those are wltp ranges so roughly converting to EPA and Miles that should mean this car gets about 335 M of range that's about 25 M more range than the longrange all-wheel drive which is a great Improvement considering it's the same battery pack it's coming to Austria czechia Denmark Finland Germany Belgium Luxembourg Switzerland Spain Portugal Norway Sweden Iceland Italy Greece Poland Slovenia Romania and Hungary this new trim will come in at $48,990 placing at 4,000 above the standard range version and €6,000 cheaper than the longrange all-wheel drive version I think this new trim is going to be a major success in Europe and hopefully it will eventually make its way to the the US most people want the extra mileage offered by the longrange trim and this is a great way to offer it to customers for cheaper a lot of people who just want a reliable longrange EV would be happy to trade that extra motor for a lower price this is a really exciting new Option and I really hope we see it come to other markets very soon with that said Tesla is sitting on a ton of model y inventory in certain markets especially the us as such it may be quite some time before a trim like this would come to the US this has been the case for a while now but it's worth the reminder that for Tesla Vehicles specifically the model y it could be the perfect time for you to buy if you're in the market and don't want to wait until what is rumored to be 20255 when Tesla refreshes the model y there are a ton of discounts available today first off the model y fully qualifies for the US federal tax incentive of $7,500 we expect this to remain through 2025 but rules do change and get stricter each year for example we didn't know until 2024 hit that the model 3 would entirely lose its tax credit eligibility beyond that discount though in inventory Tesla is selling model wise at fairly substantial discounts in my area of California I see rear whe Drive model wise for $33,000 off and $4,000 off these are brand new non-d demo cars then for long range there are discounts of $5,000 on certain demo vehicles and brand new vehicles for example here's a longrange model Y at $44,988 7,490 the added benefit too is these are in inventory so they're available for immediate pickup upon ordering no wait time and you get a very steep discount lastly the performance model y also has some steep discounts like this one at $ 48,1 40 after the tax credit that's $4,644.00 really good discounts that could make those upgrades not worth the wait for many customers it could be the perfect time to buy now regarding the model S and soon the ludicrous model 3 which we'll detail more in a minute Tesla has finally introduced a feature that has been leaked for some time now all new updated sport seats for a while now the Plaid Model S has had only a few notable distinguishers from the longrange version aside from speed now when you're buying a plaid you'll get a pretty big seat upgrade Tesla posted on X saying New Model S plaid Sports seats if you know what high G cornering means these seats are for you increased lateral support modular seat architecture for comfort and support plus same got some image of the disassembled cybertruck battery pack and it led to a lot of speculation many you noticed a lot of extra room in this pack calling it half empty the Cyber truck's lead engineer even followed up saying that it's half full we knew this was of course intentional on Tesla's part but many assumed it was half empty because the pack would in the future have more capacity if it were half full then it could theoretically store maybe twice as many 4680 cells or a new taller 46 style cell format that was all speculation and did look exciting for the future of this truck but Monroe live posted their first tear down of the cybertruck's battery and this doesn't quite seem to be what we expected in their tear down they saw a lot of similarities to other Tesla packs along with many new things they're still analyzing the pack to learn more about how its cooling is working how many cells there are and more but a big thing they learned is how much extra space is in the pack the pack is upside down as they are looking at it here so the lid they removed is what faces the ground in the Cyber truck there's over 33 mm of crush Zone within the pack that allows you a large area for gases to vacate in the pack and it helps with off-roading if you hit something on the bottom of the pack you have much less to worry about since there is a lot of structure within the pack itself self and a lot of space before you would actually end up doing anything to one of the battery cells Sandy and his team have been very impressed with the cybertruck and Sandy particularly mentioned that he thinks the reason this truck took so long to come out is because they took extreme care with every piece of it yes it looks crazy but he hasn't found any problems so far with its engineering that need to be brought up it's really interesting to hear the difference in the battery pack from what was assumed but of course Tesla could still be full of surprises here we could still see them introduce more battery capacity into the same pack and maybe this Crush Zone doesn't end up exactly as Monroe thought it was at first sight next up to date while many customers are either already enjoying or eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new model 3s Tesla has been very quiet regarding its missing performance package they haven't been keeping it completely under wraps though as we've seen plenty of leaks come out in the last few months Tesla held an exclusive event recently for VIPs and influencers to presumably get a look at this car and prepare some content for it now rumors are suggesting that this car may be coming pretty soon and rumors are also giving us further insights into what new features it will bring rumors are circulating that the new ludicrous model 3 may be officially revealed on April 20th that's a very Elon date to choose but given that it also coincides with a financial report release I don't doubt it I'm very curious to see how Tesla will be able to handle the roll out and delivery of this car we've been hearing that many model 3 customers who have purchased that car in the longrange configuration or with white Interiors have been experiencing a lot of delays between ordering and delivery announcing this trim is one thing but scaling it and delivering it in mass quantities is another Beyond its reveal date rumors have also given us further insight into some of the features that may come to this car we've already gotten a good look at the exterior and some of the cool new features that should further distinguish this car from its standard configurations those include a new front splitter design redesigned Wheels red brake calipers a rear spoiler a ludicrous badge and on the inside sportier bucket seats most of the performance increases in this vehicle are reportedly coming from an improved rear motor it seems essentially confirmed this car will only feature an improved dual motor setup this should still offer a pretty considerable boost to the vehicle speed and acceleration with rumors suggesting a 0 to 60 in just under 3 seconds or possibly even lower beyond the new motor setup this vehicle will also reportedly feature a new CDC suspension system for a better ride the new model 3 is already a huge improvement over its predecessor in that department so I'm very excited to see what this new car feels like to drive and how that system helps this be a better track car which is ultimately what they're designing it for still some may be disappointed that this car doesn't feature an air suspension system but based on my firsthand experience with the standard Range model I think whatever this car is equipped with should still offer an exceptional driver experience for most customers another interesting new feature on this car is the new ability to completely turn off regenerative braking should you choose to do so for a while Tesla has had the option to fine-tune the degree to which the car would regen brake but we've never had the option to completely turn it off for most people this isn't something that you would want to turn off since it does a lot to help your range and enables one pedal driving and the performance models always take a hit to their Max ranges anyway still for those enthusiasts who value complete control over their Driving Experience especially on the track this is a very welcomed upgrade the buildup to this ludicrous model 3 has been very exciting so far and all the leaks in press have only made it even more so I can't wait to learn all of the official specs for this vehicle and if the rumors are true we may be getting that information very soon for now we'll keep our eyes peeled for a potential April 20th event and we'll see what comes of it next up today while Tesla is predominantly known for their electric Vehicles the company is expanding into a ton of other exciting Technologies at the same time one of the most promising is their advancements into Robotics and the AI that powers them even though Tesla is a relative newcomer to the field of humanoid robotics they have made remarkable progress in the last few years in a short time Tesla's Optimus robot has grown from a person dancing in a spandex suit into a real and impressive machine a few months ago we got our first look at Gen 2 of Optimus and it was a pretty big improvement over the previous generation they put out a lot of interesting videos and demos of the robots that show just how rapidly they are improving in fact Tesla has just submitted a few big patents that give us some insight into the design process the first patent is for their quote actuator and actuator design methodology a lot of the details in here and all the subsequent patents are inherently very technical but it seems like Tesla is working on six distinct types of actuators to work in different parts of the bot that includes a first type for the Torso shoulder and hip a second and third type for the wrists a fourth type for the elbow and Ankle a fifth type for the Torso and hips and a sixth type for the knee and hips since this robot is designed to mimic the proportions and movements of a human it makes sense that you need different types of actuators to achieve different types of movement interestingly while every subsequent patent is Illustrated using Optimus 2.0 this patent uses drawings of the first prototype perhaps that is because the underlying Tech powering these joints hasn't changed much since Optimus version one the other two patents are for quote systems and methods for a robot knee joint assembly and the third relates specifically to optimus's hands building a robot that can handle all of the jobs performed by a human requires a high degree of opposability so it makes sense that Locomotion via the knees and dexterity via the hands are a priority while Tesla makes some revolutionary products in their Fleet of EVS the Tes laot could represent an even bigger step forward for the company in society long term robots like this will eventually revolutionize the way that work is performed and someday it could make the modern workplace look unrecognizable like with all things Elon his estimates for delivery are all over the place and we don't actually know when this product could come undoubtedly it will be several years but in the meantime it's very exciting to see all of the progress being made on the Optimus project next up today more on the customer side today Tesla is constantly working to expand their already impressive network of superchargers across the US and the globe currently the largest supercharger station in the world is equipped with 98 stalls in Coalinga California only a few months ago Tesla filed plans to bring a massive 160 Four Stall charger to Kern County California now on the other side of the country Tesla is working on an even larger station they have filed applications with local governments in Florida to begin building a massive charging site equipped with 200 individual stalls alongside a huge array of Standalone stalls they will also have eight pull through stalls reserved for vehicles Towing trailers the site is planned to be at the convergence of three major Florida highways and it should see a ton of traffic as a result the plan is currently for construction to commence in waves and once the station is complete it will be the largest in the world by far this area does not currently have a ton of amenities but it seems reasonable that growth will follow as it brings a lot of traffic and travelers to the area we might even see Tesla install their own entertainment or relaxation amenities there to keep drivers comfortable while their car is charging Tesla shared a post on X recently detailing how their supercharger installation process is currently the fastest it has ever been they recently broke a record getting the time between unit delivery and the opening of the station down to just 4 days if they can keep that pace up once the permits are approved it shouldn't be too long until this station is up and running it's great to see Tesla continuing to expand their supercharger presence Across the Nation especially since more and more brands are gaining access to the network the increasing availability of reliable charging is going to sell a lot of EVS that will in turn need more Chargers
