hey everyone today i've got a really special rig to show you my dad was very excited to show me this new rig that does not tangle at all you can cast it out as hard as you want you can you can leave it out there in crazy currents and this thing won't tangle my dad came up with this and we're really excited to show you hey let me show you what this rig is about you see these arms so this rig basically has arms that hold the hook out and won't allow it to actually tangle with itself um this is actually a little bit more of an advanced rig to tie but if you can follow along i'm going to show you how to tie it so first i'm going to show you how to tie it up and then i'll show you it in action right on the surf try and catch some fish to show you okay so you're not going to need much you're going to need some nice hooks i've got two odd circle hooks that are you know they're thicker than normal they're octopus circles and they're made by kamikaze these are these are i like these hooks then i've got some 150 pound test two-way swivels and then i've got a sinker swivel for the bottom then you're going to need a straw and some beads and some leader line to tie it with i'm using thirty pound but thirty forty pound is fine people you can do it with twenty pound you can do it with what however however thin you want just depends on what kind of fish you're trying to go for this is an upgraded uh video from the t-not video that we filmed before we're going to utilize the t-nut but we're also going to utilize this straw as an arm to hold out the hook so it doesn't get tangled within itself so what you're going to want to do is put your first t-knot right here about 16 inches and give it give it a little bit of space because this this t-nut is going to need to hold an arm on there as well there you go and that's a perfect t-knot right there the t-nut itself helps it from keeping it helps it but with this i said with this addition of a straw we're going to be able to hold the arm out even further so we'll not tangle see so now this end of the straw will go into the tea section right here the bottom of the tea like that okay now we're gonna put a bead in put the bead in then we're going to put our hook on thread it through and we're nearly done next we're going to tie a uni knot right here with an extra piece of 30 pound line and this is to keep the bead from sliding back and forth this is to keep the arms stationary and for those of you who don't know how to tie your knots i teach how to tie every one of these knots on our online pdfs so visit heyskipperfishing.com and learn how to tie some knots okay that's tightened down now what almost cut both yeah okay so now this end we're gonna cut a little bit longer so that we can tuck it into this bead okay and that's the first arm right here and notice how it'll just spin around and it won't get tangled up that's exactly what you want exact exactly what you want because in the surf things are going to be sloshing around like crazy and it's easy for your hook to just get caught on its main line but with this hopefully it'll keep it out out of the way we're going to do the same thing one more time just a little bit higher okay now that i've got both arms tied i'm going to attach a two-way swivel to the top which i'm using a 150 pound right here and then a swivel clip for the bottom and that's going to be for my sinker and there we have it that's our full rig let's go test it out on the surf okay so i'm tying this on to my 13 foot pole now now this one's got my standard hi-lo on it without the arms and you can see how it's already getting tangled up but it's good i love this one this is a great rig that i've caught many many fish on this is just another rig in my arsenal i'm not saying that there is one rig to end all rigs there's many rigs that i like to use and there's many rigs that i catch fish on it's just a matter of uh what rig do you like to use what rig do you prefer to use there's pros and cons for every rig a con with this rig is that uh it can get it can get tangled a con for this rig is that you know you have to spend a little more time to tie it and um there's you know it's less bare than the other one this is more inconspicuous that's what i have to say uh so i'm going to have one of each kind of rig and uh let's go fishing okay here's our new squiddy starter kit right here well i keep everything in here in my bait box um i've got my tentacles i've got a mantle in here shrimpy bits clammy bits right here i think i'm gonna start with some shrimp and some clam first like that that's our first rig let's throw this out that was in the first trough now let's set up the second rig this one i'm going to try some cut mullet then clam this one i'll do a squid tentacle okay now we wait i usually wait about five minutes before i actually have to change my bait even if i don't see anything hit it i think that uh there's a lot of little small fish and crabs and stuff out there that just steal your bait and within five to ten minutes your bait is completely gone um so by changing off baits often you'll heighten your chance for catching more fish oh it's a stingray okay i'm not sure these are usually bottom feeders and this is not a bottom rig but no tangle let's hope we can get into another another fish now okay so he took the shrimp and the clams i think i didn't have mullet on this one do shrimp and clam again get it wait it's a really nice fried fish but we're gonna let this one go we've got so much fish from yesterday i caught so many red drums it's too many get the crab he won't see using his feet they ain't going nowhere oh no the pompano baby right away all right there we go it's a birthday flounder right there wow that one just smacked it as soon as i hit it as soon as i threw that shrimp look at that my hand is not that big you gotta go in the middle don't move like i don't think you look like uh that that pistol that you're going through oh my god sashimi okay i'm gonna throw it back so well i got a little flounder on the on the special rig right here a lot of these guys now this rig is a really good multi-species rig so i expect to catch different kinds of fish these don't need to go too far i'm not casting them too far i'm actually just casting right here in the first straw there's a second trough out there um but i caught two fish in the first rock so i'm gonna see what else is in there maybe if i get my third rod i'll throw it out into the second draw so wonder what it is whoa two fish at a time big blue that's on the that's on that special rig you see two at a time oh boy yep now this one's too small that one's good size to eat oh yeah keep that this one's a keeper that's a good glue that's your manga [Music] so uh so all right another blue oh wow look at that it got attacked by something before and then it healed itself dang where'd they all go you saw a lot of them yeah i saw a lot of them yeah there's one there's two i'm gonna put these out and see what happens this rig is working pretty darn well it has not gotten tangled yet at all it's caught some a nice sized blue fish you caught two fish at a time actually i'm just re-baiting it now but honestly i like this rig my only downside now is if a bluefish does bite this off it's going to take a little bit of time to retie this whole thing i think this rig is better for pompano and stuff like that for bluefish i would probably use some longer hooks but honestly i'm trying to catch some red red drum some black drums some trout stuff like that so i'm not going to have a bluefish hook on here but this has been has been pretty nice to keep the keep the arm out and tangling from itself oh my god christian this is a c bullet pretty small [Music] bluefish i think just popped my entire rig all gone oh my gosh and that's the end of the game for now i mean but it works pretty well the rig works pretty well i got a good amount of fish on it it didn't tangle at all i like that a lot about it whereas you know this this rig right here gets handled more often but they both work very well i like using i like using these kind of rigs like this especially high low style rigs because you have chances to catch two fish at a time um and we're constantly trying to fix and adjust and do new things with our rigs to try and you know up our percentage in catching more fish whether that be adding little beads little floats little things to help your rig comment below some of the little hacks that you like to do for your own rig let
