this is the new ford bronco and driving one of these in the uk is a little bit like somebody from birmingham wearing a cowboy hat here yeah anyway in this video i'm going to tell you all about this new bronco talk you around the exterior the interior see how practical it is test out some of its tech take it for a drive and of course i'm going to launch it to see how quick it is from north to 60 miles an hour anyway i'm at watson and you're watching cowboy wow wow buying a new car then head to car wow and my team will help you find your next car at a fair price car wow your one-stop car buying comparison site let's start this video by talking about the design of the new ford bronco so just like the original it's all square and boxing very off-roadery and you have the bucking bronco little emblem there we've got a proper full-size spare wheel chunky rear bumpers as well and toe points and tail lights which are like the original but obviously they're led because it's all modern so as you can see this is the convertible version with the soft top you can get a hard top with removable roof panels also this is the four-door you can get a shorter two-door version but all of them have this really chunky design like you've got running boards which i can't run on and this one is called the outer banks and that means instead of black wheel arch covers and door mirror caps who have body colored personally i would rather have it with the black because the contrast looks really good on this car in terms of wheel sizes the biggest wheel size is 18 inches which may sound pretty small but actually you're getting a lot of tyre yeah because this is an off-roader in fact you can get huge off-road tyres for this thing now you might be wondering what the hell are these things look at these these there look what are these for it says maximum load 150 pounds i think this is for tying down some dead animal you've just shot to show it off to all the other people that's what they do in america anyway you can tell what car this is it says bronco across the front and the grille design is reminiscent of the old car as are the headlights they've been modernized obviously here at the front this one's got our solid metal bumper and there's these points where you can tie things to maybe a winch as well and this one has the upgraded metal under tray so you can bash off boulders when you're off-roading some impressive car apparently this is the first bronco to arrive in the uk it's been imported by clive sutton now the starting price if you want a bronco from clyde sutton 45 000 pounds they go to 85 000 pounds and that includes everything that's your tax your shipping any modifications in order to drive in the uk it even comes with a three-year warranty which matches ford's warranty now if you want to see more about the american cars that clive imports check out the link in the description in fact go on his website have a look through some of his stock and let me know here in the comments of some of the other cars he's got you'd like me to film here on the inside the bronx has a very chunky off-roader feel to it so you've got a flat-faced dash with bronco proudly written there and down here this little plaque that says design and engineered in dearborn michigan lovely also all the controls are super chunky apparently that's so that you can operate them while wearing gloves now it's quite a warm day today so i don't have any gloves so i'm going to have to illustrate that by using these cups as makeshift gloves so can i operate the controls look oh yeah i can use the climate the stereo you can turn this knobby here can i start it with my cup gloves yes i can and can i put it in drive come on i can put it in drive look you can use it all while wearing cup gloves that's what i call professional motoring journalism let's continue so obviously being an off-roader you might be going over some rocks so you end up swaying about the place so look there's a grab handle there for your passenger there's also another grab handle here as well to help you get in and out of the vehicle the steering wheel is big and chunky you've got your bucking bronco on it there also there's various buttons on the steering wheel so you can control the digital driver's display so you've got a normal analog speedo but then there's lots of information just displayed on the screen here the only problem with the screen is that the animations are so slow and such low resolution that it sort of reminds me of teletext do not tell you text this is a little clip of it it's like pre-internet internet yes other features in here of note this doll here the goat modes geo 80 it doesn't stand for greatest of all time they're obviously playing around with that stands for go over any terrain hell yeah well we'll see about that a bit later on shall we or at least try to now let's move on to the infotainment system so this gets ford's latest sync system so it's the same that you get in the mackie but obviously you've got a slightly smaller screen it's generally pretty easy to use it's a nice system quite like it as for the driving position yeah there's lots of adjustment in it which is good so even a little brits can get comfy behind the wheel and see out of the big bonnet and you get lots of adjustment in the steering wheel as well obviously the americans need to push the steering wheel back because of their big bellies sorry americans i'm only joking we're probably fatter than you now here in the uk to tell you the truth as for storage look these door bins may look rubbish but they're actually pretty good you can fit big bottles in them there's some more storage under here with the 12 volt socket there some more storage there with your usbs you've got normal usb and usbc and they're not as i showed you earlier look cupholders oh another thing to note is this look at that massive rear view mirror yeah i just realized it looked like an absolute twist in this hat oh another think i've noticed this switches for auxiliaries like if you want to put lights on the top of the vehicle to startle your prey at night you can control them with these i like the way that they're not blanked out if you haven't got them fitted you can still play with them although they do sound a bit cheap stop playing with the mat stop playing here in the back seats of the bronco there is plenty of knee room there's also lots of foot room as well because the front seats are jacked up quite high so you can really stretch out more importantly though there is plenty of hat room yes it's designed for people in a stetson and if you're american and you're commenting again actually matt that's not a stetson stop here all right just stop it in terms of quality well you've got some softy bits here on the doors which is nice but then the rest of the plastics are a bit cheap feeling same situation in the front really and these handles feel nasty and they're quite wobbly do you know what the quality in here isn't as good as a mercedes g wagon now a g-wagon is more expensive but a top end one of these in the uk is getting on for g wagon money yeah now down here you've got some usb ports there look usb there and you've got a plug socket so you can plug in your laptop if you've got an american adapter there's also the window switches there why are they there and not on the door it's because you can remove the doors and then if you remove the doors how you going to operate the windows actually you won't need to because the doors are anyway i want to show you this let's move on the rear windows do go all the way down now for those of you who spotted cameraman guys reflection in the window give yourself a pat on the back you're clearly very observant and guy say hello to the viewers guy's really cringing now behind the camera guy if i've got to wear a stupid hat you can do a silly wave it's just part of car wow right let's talk about the boot so it's a nice big size easily enough room for two fine young men [Music] also it's very square so it's easy to pack there's no load lips you can slide things in and out quite easily though the extended bumper does mean it's a little bit hard when you're loading it you have some chunky tie down points with little lassos on them there i like that feature it's cool under here a little bit of storage and your tools what is this is that a sheewy yeah you probably didn't need me to illustrate that did you anyway you can fold down the rear seats i have to go around to do it so i'll just pop this down you can see there you go lies not flat because you have this ridge here and did you notice that i think it needs a bit of an oil what else is a bit annoying with this convertible version you have a smaller tailgate opening with a hard top it opens much wider either way you still have a tailgate which opens out quite a way with a big heavy wheel on the back and so it can be a bit annoying to open it in tight spaces and that brings on to five other annoying things about this car some of the attention to detail on this car is a bit questionable look at the wonky stitching was that stitched by a normal robot or the tesla robot well the door openers are quite large the roof is lower than you expect which means that when you step up into this car from the running board you end up banging your headlight out and damaging your hat actually it's not damaged thank god have ford actually finished building this car look this pots all exposed you can see the spot welds and like bolt heads some of it should be covered with some form of plastic or something else right this car doesn't have an armrest nor any through loading but the most annoying thing is this the central seat has this weird raised bit which goes right up your arse and not in a good way while this version of the bronco may well be the convertible it actually takes forever to convert it in fact the process is so convoluted i can't be honest with it myself so i'm gonna have to employ my ranch hands to do it for me come on boys i'll let them get to it [Music] now let's go back to the soft top remove the straps then press down the handle on the driver's side of your vehicle to unlatch the soft top [Laughter] [Music] oh my god that took this long to be fair it was their very first time of taking the roof down but still guys i want you to put it back up now already joking the rear view camera is actually mounted on a stalk which it's proud to the rear wheel which means that when you're reversing up you don't end up accidentally bumping your rear wheel into the wall like you do on some other vehicles with a rear mounted wheel look at this you have a sign here that says accessory ready because it's a mountain point for an action camera luck you're just filming when you're off-roading and stuff it's rubbish you're supposed to mount an accessory to it you're more on oh yeah the v6 model is available with a one pedal driving mode which automatically applies the brakes when you lift off the accelerator to give you more control when you're driving over boulders like i am now oh hardcore off-roading guy you you scored the illusion the bronco is a function where you can actually lock up each back wheel individually so you can make super tight turns yeah this is how it works well that wheel's locked and you can just spin around and almost run me over now let's talk about engines so there's two choices you can have a 2.3 liter four-cylinder turbo petrol which is what this engine is it has 300 horsepower 440 newton meters of torque or there's a 2.7 liter v6 which has 330 horsepower and 560 newton meters of torque the entry-level version of the bronco comes with a 7-speed manual gearbox all of the versions have a 10-speed automatic it has a switchable all-wheel drive system so you can drive around in two-wheel drive mode or four-wheel drive mode there's also a low range mode you can get it with locking differentials at the front and the back and even a disconnectable sway bar now if you're thinking about buying a bronco from clive sutton you might need to sell your current car and to do that click on the pop out banner for the link in the description to go to car wow because you can now sell your car through us as well and we'll make sure you get a fair price and the price you're quoted okay then let's take the bronco for a drive first thing i'm noticing is that this four-cylinder turbo petrol feels a little bit like a diesel it's quite viby and noisy especially when your station is ticking over but it's got a decent amount of punch for overtaking that's all fine now this car is built on a traditional ladder frame chassis like a proper off-roader you do have independent suspension at the front but at the back you've got a rigid axle but it hasn't got leaf springs or anything really all tech like that it does have coil over springs which is good and the handling actually considering this is a proper off-roader is fairly decent it doesn't handle though like a land rover defender which obviously has a monocoque chassis in fact if you want to see my full in-depth video review of the land rover defender click on the pop-up banner or just follow the link in the description i'll tell you what it is better than though a jeep wrangler now in the jeep wrangler the steering's just bizarre like you keep on having to correct it because the car's just dead wayward this is more precise well it's not so great though is going over bumps like with all these kind of cars built on ladder frame chassis the proper off-roaders you get this shimmy and shake when you go over bumps it's not terrible though it's just the nature of the beast really with these things let's see if it's a beast when you put your foot down ah the pickup's alright maybe i should put it into sports mode there we go sports mode let's go sport no not eco sport yes okay that's made no difference whatsoever apart from the dolls were in a bit red on the dash great and it's not really a sporty vehicle is it even though it doesn't like lean too much in the bends you can't go too fast because you'll end up running a front wheel grip and it'll start to wash wide oh i am noticing something from sports mode it's holding on to its gears for longer speaking of which i think this gearbox just has too many ratios it's constantly like spinning plates or deciding which one it needs to be in or using and it starts to juggle between the gear ratios a little bit too much it can be a bit indecisive let's go back into normal mode come on normal normal there we go no there we go normal let's just be normal he says driving this thing around in this stupid cowboy hat which incidentally you'd think they'd design the bronco with slightly smaller head restraints because look it's not it's not great for if you're wearing a cowboy hat which i'm sure a lot of owners in the states will be doing they haven't thought that one through have they one of the things about this car is that you sit up pretty high so you get a good view forward even though the windscreen isn't actually that deep but the seating position is really good one issue i have found though is that when you got the refolded back the view at the back it's not great at all but really that's my only complaint for the visibility it's an easy car to drive around you can see all around you so be pretty handy in town and of course you will look cool well if you think this is cool okay then there's one last thing for me to do in this bronco now unfortunately it's not take it off road i'm not allowed to take it off road but i can do a brake test in it and a launch so let's start with the brake test i'm going to see how quick it will stop from 60 miles an hour let's do it here we go full emergency stop coming up now that is not good that was not good the pedal was so soft from 60 miles an hour it took 41 meters 41 meters okay let's see if it's better at launching i'm going to time it for not 60 miles an hour and over the standing quarter mile come on you can do better bronco let's do it that wasn't terrible off the line come on it's quite a noisy engine not 16 7.87 seconds let's press on bronco power 16.1 seconds over the quarter mile the specialist timing gear doesn't lie do you know what i'm going to give it one last chance at the break test was that just an anomaly here we go that felt a bit better come on you can beat 41 meters yay 39. [Music] so then what's my final verdict on the ford bronco should you avoid it should you consider it should you shortlist it or should you just go right ahead and buy it well if you're in america you should just go right ahead and buy it it really is a good car for the money and if you're in the uk and you want something that's a little bit different to your land rovers or your g wagons you should also go right ahead and buy it it's cool i hope you all enjoyed the video if you did please give it a like let me know some other videos you'd like me to do on american cars in the comments below click on the windows for more videos and on that box there for a surprise
