NEW 2021 Tesla Confirmed!

in crypto the model 3 and y heated steering wheel tesla's customer satisfaction rating and more so let's get into it [Music] first up today consumer reports just published their study of the most and least liked car brands ranking them based on consumer reports own owner satisfaction study they gave each brand a quote would buy again score based on the percentage of owners who responded definitely yes to the question of if they were to do it all over again would they buy the same car the rest of the rankings were driving comfort value in-car electronics and cabin storage in total there were 27 brands ranked and a few brands were excluded due to their small sample size acura alfa romeo fiat genesis jaguar land rover maserati and mitsubishi were not considered so technically they could have beat these other cars if they had a large enough sample size but it seems unlikely coming in dead last was infinity with three models considered they got a 48 on the would buy again score showing that less than half of people who bought an infiniti would buy one again driving got a three out of five comfort got a three out of five in car electronics got a one out of five storage two out of five and value one out of five you can see the list of brands towards the bottom but if we go up towards the top you can see the only brand with a would buy again score higher than eighty percent tesla tesla scored first by a long shot in this survey particularly for the would buy again score they got an 88 percent which of course means that only 12 percent of tesla's customers think they made a mistake or would rather have bought a different car for driving no surprise at all tesla got a perfect five out of five if you've ever driven a tesla you know why this is the case for comfort and in-car electronics they got a four out of five cabin storage got three out of five and value got one out of five overall these rankings may shock some people but they make a lot of sense to me for the most part aside from cabin storage comfort in tesla's is good but doesn't quite feel extremely luxury and over time the seats can get a little uncomfortable in my personal opinion for in-car electronics my guess is that most people wish tesla had a better phone integration and something like android auto or apple carplay tesla has good integration and things like spotify on screen but since it's their own system it definitely has some quirks i've talked about this in previous videos and software updates have actually improved it a lot but i can see why a 4 out of 5 or 80 there is warranted for value even though it's electric and doing good for the environment we know that tesla's are expensive if you compare the premium features of other gas cars in its price range you technically will get maybe less features however the benefit of a tesla and things like self-driving might bring the score higher than a one out of five in my opinion but apparently customers still think they're overpriced and that's what tesla continues to work on cabin storage is the only one i don't really understand most cars don't have an under storage compartment and especially not a front trunk the cabin storage space is incredibly versatile especially in the model y which is very similar to the cabin space in a model s and model x the model 3 is their best sold car so it could be that the model 3 customers don't find the trunk space to be very versatile hence the 3 out of 5. also all of tesla's models are sloped in the back limiting the height of objects you can put in the trunk so that could be a factor as well in any case these rankings seem to make sense to me in general and that 88 would buy again score is absolutely great news for tesla as a company most likely tesla customers will be keeping the car for a while but need to upgrade eventually and it seems that most customers will stay with them right behind tesla was lincoln with a 79 and ram with a 76 would buy again score interestingly there is not a single car on this survey that scored a 5 out of 5 for value so it seems that all customers just find all cars to be overpriced now moving on to tesla's current most popular cars it appears that the tesla model 3 and model y are now shipping in the united states with a heated steering wheel this is something that has been rumored for a while but never officially announced by tesla for the model 3 and y in china tesla lists the heated steering wheel but they still don't in the united states even today however many customers of both cars taking delivery in the united states are noticing the heated steering wheel coming with their car it's a really odd lack of communication from tesla since it's a feature that actually would attract customers and we know some people are waiting for this photo is from a model y delivered in brooklyn and here is a model 3 delivered in the bay area of california both were delivered last week and included the heated steering wheel i've also received a number of messages from customers noticing the heated steering wheel on their recently delivered teslas so i don't want to say that you're guaranteed to receive the heated steering wheel when you buy a model 3 or y in the us because tesla hasn't actually officially said so but it seems to be incredibly likely at this point definitely good news for customers in colder climates or customers who just want another premium feature to justify the price tag of their car now moving on to tesla's upcoming 25 000 car or model 2 as some people like to call it i made a video last week talking about the confirmations we had heard about the model 2 coming from a chinese newspaper at tesla's battery day elon said they'd be making a compelling 25 000 tesla in three years here's what he said i think probably uh like i said about about three years from now we're confident we can make a very calm very compelling 25 000 electric vehicle but the latest rumors have shown a much more accelerated timeline according to a report in cine the model 2 is already undergoing tesla's internal environmental impact assessment and the report refers to the quote new model early launch project this project will take six months to test and rumor has it that tesla will begin testing their new affordable ev within the next few months in china quote it is estimated that the first batch of models will be tested on the road soon it is expected to be unveiled in the second half of the year the car is expected to be small have less acceleration than normal for a tesla an estimated range of around 217 to 279 miles and would most likely be a small hatchback the new update we got just yesterday is that tesla's president in china gave an interview to a chinese media outlet discussing the 000 compact car he said quote the center is in tesla gigafactory shanghai where we are now we are now building our china r d center right here this r d center is also the first tesla r d center outside the united states the research and development center has all necessary disciplines covering vehicle design vehicle engineering vehicle development and vehicle testing so this falls in line with the report we talked about last week saying that tesla is building up the r d center in china along with the factory production line that could produce this new model he went on to say quote the ultimate goal has been mentioned on many public occasions in the future we want to design develop and produce an original model in china manufactured here and sold to the whole world this r d center is the starting point of the goal it seems he is referencing elon here elon talked about an original car coming from their chinese design studio and separately talked about a 25 000 future 25 000 tesla will be designed produced and shipped from giga shanghai to be quote sold to the whole world previously details were a little scarce to draw a perfect conclusion as to whether or not this tesla designed in china would truly be the affordable 25 000 tesla elon talked about at battery day now we have confirmations of price a possible timeline for road testing the details of its small hatchback design based on the model 3 and words from tesla's president in china referring to this original model to be sold to the whole world elon's timelines aren't trustworthy and the definition of quote elon time has changed in the past few years quite a bit he has been early to a few different product launches and this time i think he's purposely saying three years knowing that this car will come earlier just to cover his bases in case anything goes wrong i think we're going to see this model too or whatever it's called much sooner than previously thought one more thought to add to this car is how tesla is going to actually handle the supercharger situation we know they just built up a new supercharger factory in china and planned to keep expanding their network worldwide but this model too would be insanely popular and get less range than any of tesla's cars meaning it would have to charge more frequently on a road trip a model 2 would maybe need to stop and charge five times whereas a model 3 would only need to stop and charge two to three times if all of a sudden this car sells like crazy i'm predicting some supercharger lines caused by these affordable teslas that tesla customers won't be too thrilled about hopefully tesla will expand their network enough to the point where this won't be an issue but it is something to keep in mind for tesla's expansion to cheaper and cheaper vehicles speaking of tesla china tesla is dealing with regulators in china concerning a number of issues in their cars according to the new york times quote chinese regulators met with executives from tesla recently after several government agencies reported an unusual acceleration of complaints from customers about battery fires and other quality issues with the company's electric cars we know that tesla has dealt with and continues to deal with quality control issues in all of their factories but it appears that these issues that they're looking into may be the same issues tesla has dealt with in the united states one such issue could be unintended acceleration which was an issue tesla was having with customers stating that teslas would accelerate suddenly and crash into a wall or other object directly in front of them in every single case tesla held firm that the vehicle data showed no issue with the vehicle and the customers simply pressed the wrong pedal after a lengthy nhtsa investigation the nhtsa also found that these cases were due to quote pedal misapplication or pressing the gas pedal instead of the brake i can see to a certain degree how teslas are different than gas vehicles and that they hold and won't move even though the vehicle is still in drive and if you didn't realize the car was in drive and you hit the gas pedal by accident that's something completely unexpected however this is still driver error and the nhtsa agrees we'll see if this is one of the issues that china is looking into but they'll likely have the same result many of the other complaints had to do with battery fires and this is something i talked about a few videos back after a model 3 appeared to explode in china nobody was injured and after an investigation it appears that debris damaged the battery pack leading to the fire and possible explosion that is known to happen with a damaged battery pack most likely in this case china will find that battery fires are not any more common than gasoline vehicles according to tesla there has been one tesla fire for every 205 million miles traveled compared to the u.s average of one fire every 19 million miles traveled we'll see if china ends up finding this to be a larger issue or if they agree that it is not a big issue the overall quality control issues appear to have more to do with the us-made model s's and x's after the suspension issues and recent touchscreen recall that has been issued in the u.s this recall is set to begin in late march in the united states and has now been extended to china for up to 36 126 model s's and x's delivered there i'll be sure to keep you posted on these updates but it appears that the chinese-made model 3s and wise haven't had any complaints that the chinese government is looking into so that is good news for tesla going forward speaking of tesla in other countries tesla is about to launch the model 3 in singapore small news but another country that tesla will be able to sell to directly in the near future one huge piece of news is that tesla just bought 1.5 billion dollars worth of bitcoin in a filing tesla said quote we invested an aggregate 1.5 billion in bitcoin under this policy and may acquire and hold digital assets from time to time or long term moreover we expect to begin accepting bitcoin as a form of payment for our products in the near future subject to applicable laws and initially on a limited basis which we may or may not liquidate upon receipt this falls right in line with tesla's forward-looking mentality and the possible future implications of bitcoin but it has raised a lot of questions for customers concerning tesla's mission tesla's mission is to quote accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and bitcoin is known as one of the worst cryptocurrencies for the environment using up tons of energy for mining and transactions this has led many like an economics professor from the university of queensland to call tesla's decision quote environmental vandalism and to urge people to buy cars from other more sustainable looking companies after this move according to the verge most bitcoin is mined in china where it is often fueled by dirty coal so this would be a large cost added to tesla's indirect emissions footprint long term and with things like solar bitcoin could be sustainable and fall in line with tesla's mission but for the time being it appears to be simply an investment move and somewhat go against tesla's mission definitely a forward-looking move for tesla to accept bitcoin but also an odd move regarding their mission i'm definitely interested to hear tesla expand on this more and talk about their rationale but what are your thoughts on tesla's bitcoin investment leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts another quick update about the model y design is that tesla has updated the headlights in the model y built in the us a model y built on february 5th with a vin in the 124 thousands was posted on reddit showing the new tesla headlight design it's a slight change from the previous headlights and most likely will have the heated steering wheel in there as well however the owner has not actually taken delivery to confirm that yet other features we're waiting for tesla to add to the model y in the us include the hepa filter with bio weapon defense mode the updated center console from the refresh 2021 model 3 and the new side door panels seen on the model 3 and y in china last up today audi just unveiled their newest ev the audi e-tron gt it's a great looking car that has a similar concept to the porsche tai can from what i can tell overall it's a beautiful vehicle and fully electric so let's do a quick comparison to the model 3 and model s the audi e-tron gt starts at 99 900 and goes up to 139 900 for the gtrs version this chart posted by tesla owners of silicon valley compares the cars in a helpful breakdown and let's look at it the gtrs is the top spec version and when comparing to the model 3 has more horsepower but less range and a slower zero to 60 for nearly three times the price the plaid model s comes in at 90 dollars more gets nearly double the horsepower double the range a two second faster quarter mile and a zero to sixty that is one point four seconds faster so on a purely specs level clearly tesla has a massive advantage over this audi e-tron gt however i'm always a fan of more and more compelling evs coming to market are there a ton of buttons inside sure is it incredibly expensive compared to the features you could get in a tesla sure but is it a compelling ev for customers who are in that price range who don't want to buy a tesla absolutely i think it's a beautiful looking car on the outside much like the porsche thai can and i can't wait to see one in person now remember a couple videos ago when i mentioned elon was leaving twitter for a while well that never happened and
