hi guys this is Simeon from Swedish homestead together with my brother Tim who is the arborist and lumberjack we want to demonstrate something to you that we have seen on YouTube many times and it scares me personally when people do this wrong and we want to demonstrate you one of the big mistakes that people do and learn from it and don't do this [Music] [Music] okay so here we are at a tree that was blown over and broke by a windstorm and you see that we have to cut down these last remaining metres here and we want to demonstrate for you something that I've seen many people do wrong but there are times where we actually do it differently so we're gonna do the a plunge cut felling here and what is really important is that the two cuts from the front of the tree from the back of the tree that they meet each other at the same level about because otherwise there is a risk of you actually cutting too far the fibers of the tree your that are supposed to hold the tree into position until it has fallen over you cut them off and the tree goes and falls and all different kinds of directions you don't want that it's very dangerous there are whatsoever times where you use it but that is a little more advanced we just want to demonstrate you know my brother is going to demonstrate to you how we think is one of the safest standard ways of doing this [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so as you can see here now these two cuts the one from the front and the one from the back are not at the same level which brings a high risk of you going too high and then you see that this has nothing to hold anymore so right now we are able to do this because this is just a two and a half metre tall tree stump but this is very dangerous and as my brother is gonna bring this thing down now you're gonna see how it's gonna break off and there are no fibers that are gonna hold this into place safely so here you can see and this is something I've seen on many YouTube videos barely anything was holding this tree into place just because this cut was made higher you couldn't really see how thick this was and he made it too far and this just broke off it didn't guide the tree as it was falling down and this is very dangerous I believe in most situations and could cause a lot of danger so you're the expert you said that sometimes you use something like this yeah for example if you cut a tree you could use that but you still need to be very careful that you leave enough for the fibers to hold it's very hard to see it's hard to be precise if you want a very thin hinge it's hard to get it thin okay if you want to be on the safe side you have to leave more okay well thank you for the demonstrations if you want to see how we do this and how we meet these two cuts up in the right level watch my how to follow tree video I will link it right there for you guys okay guys thank you that's it I hope you enjoyed this short video but I think it is very important there are different schools of how to cut down a tree we worked hard in Sweden and they want it to be this way so I hope you enjoyed this they say from the forest and on the homestead and I'll see you in the next video make sure to subscribe for lots of more videos thank you and bye bye [Music] you
