have you ever watched a movie like Jurassic Park and wondered if such hidden worlds could possibly exist there's likely no secret island filled with dinosaurs but there are quite a few areas of earth which are filled with mystery filled with plants and animals straight from a Hollywood film these areas are truly fascinating before we head off be sure to have all your shots and personal effects in order because there's no telling if we'll make it back in fact to leave a record that you were here be sure to hit the subscribe and notification buttons so we know you're on board with our expedition Mount bosavi naturally many of the lands we have not fully explored include remote islands and thick jungles combine those two and you get one of the most intriguing hidden lands on earth deep in the jungles of the Southern Highlands region of Papua New Guinea is mount bosavi an extinct volcano bosavi is now just a massive crater approximately three miles wide and half a mile deep due to its remote location no one has entered the crater until 2009 that year a television and science team traveled to Vasavi and discovered it to be filled with new life it turns out that within the massive crater a unique ecosystem has developed cut off from the outside world here there are over 40 undiscovered species including frogs fish bats and spiders the crater is also home to a three-foot long rat and a type of kangaroo that has evolved to live in the trees all of these creatures are unique to this area simply because nothing can get over the high walls of the crater given its isolated location and the difficulty of getting to mount bosavi we're pretty sure this once hidden location will remain largely unexplored for years to come Greenland if we consider Australia to be a continent then that would make Greenland the largest island in the world located between Canada and Iceland this massive territory of rock and ice has been inhabited by humans for thousands of years going all the way back to the 10th century today most of the population is settled in the south and west of the island that leaves huge swaths of land in the interior north and west that are largely untouched and unexplored by humans travel into the interior of Greenland and you'll meet the massive ice sheet that covers three-quarters of the land there are no roads or settlements here and researchers haven't even scratched the surface of this region in fact it was only a few years ago that a team discovered a strange world underneath one part of the mile thick ice sheet NASA discovered that under all that ice was a canyon which is longer than and as deep as the Grand Canyon considering this study looked at just one small area of this massive land there's no telling what lies beneath the rest of Greenland's expansive snow and ice hey there folks do you love watching our videos but are you looking for a more ad-free browsing experience take your video viewing to the next level and sign up animals even today there's still so much that we don't know about it in the creatures that call it home in fact within the largely unexplored mega jungle the Brazilian government has helped to ensure that one large area will remain largely unexplored for the foreseeable future in the far east of the country near the border with Peru is the valley dor chiavari far from major urban areas access is highly restricted and you can only get in by water or air the 33,000 square miles of land is labeled as indigenous territory and is home to several indigenous groups who have either resisted contact with the outside world or have maintained the barest of communications in fact the area is so remote that the only way to even identify most of the villages is by air through this method around 20 separate villages have been mapped but who knows what else exists under that thick jungle canopy it is believed by most experts that the valley Doge Avari contains the highest concentration of isolated and uncontacted humans in the entire world lake vostok when you think of a lake you likely picture blue water shoreline and maybe even people canoeing around Lake Vostok is not that kind of Lake you see it's located in Antarctica so it's far too cold to go boating oh and we forgot to mention that it's also 2 and a half miles below the surface you wouldn't think the sixth largest freshwater lake in the world existed under miles of ice and snow but it does researchers believe this Lake was sealed underneath the glacier 25 million years ago until today nothing has disturbed it incredibly when Russian researchers managed to drill down into the lake water samples contained 3500 distinct DNA strands from various organisms including bacteria even more interesting is that some of these finds had never been recorded by humans proving that Antarctica is home to a lot more undiscovered finds just last year researchers found yet another sub glacial lake while experts are skeptical that any sort of alien life will be discovered in lakes like Vostok the fact that so much water exists undisturbed under the polar ice promises to show us what sort of life existed tens of millions of years ago challenger deep for a smart and knowledgeable as we think humans are there's a lot we don't know about for instance most of the ocean is unexplored in parts of it are so deep we've absolutely no clue what lives in the darkness below the deepest part of our world is found in the Pacific Ocean by the Mariana Islands here you'll find the Marianas Trench the deepest part of this trench is known as challenger deep and it's an incredible thirty-five thousand eight hundred feet below the surface to put that in perspective the tallest mountain in the world Mount Everest is just over 29,000 feet high to date there have only ever been two manned missions to this area the latest was undertaken in 2012 by famed film director James Cameron in combination with the other 1960 expedition these expeditions saw humans explore the deep for less than three hours combined Cameron said he saw some small organisms swimming around yet unmanned vehicles have shown the area is teeming with life all of this means that there is still a lot of challenger deep in the Marianas Trench that are in need of exploration it's time for our exploration quiz the Earth's oceans make up 70% of our planet yet how much of this vast area have we really explored so far find out the answer after we show you five more areas still in need of more exploration Melville Range Australia is a large country filled with vast deserts and forests with most of the population living along the coast it's not really that surprising that many parts of the country remain largely unexplored however one area stands out from the rest head up towards the northeastern section of the country and you'll reach Cape Melville in this area you'll find the Melville Range a patch of secluded rainforest that has remained isolated and untouched by humans in addition to thick lush forests and clear streams the most exciting finds have so far been the creatures for instance National Geographic researchers stumbled across a frog that didn't need water to reproduce instead it laid its eggs and cracks in the boulders then there was the leaf-tailed gecko with arms and eyes much larger than other geckos these likely developed in order to live among all the dark crevices found in the boulders amazingly the expedition was only able to explore 1/10 of the area meaning there's a lot more to the Melville Range just waiting to be discovered given Australia is home to some of the strangest animals in the world we bet there's quite a few more surprises hidden in that forest palawan highlands if you ever want to travel to a land that is out of this world then we might suggest that you head on over to Paulo on an island in the Philippines palawan is 100% discovered and inhabited but parts of it are still being explored and understood judging by the types of things being found there we described this part of the Philippines as part lost world and part Alice in Wonderland you see it's home to all sorts of strange and colorful creatures like the peacock pheasant and the bearded pig but when researchers heard rumors about strange new colourful and carnivorous plants in the highlands they couldn't resist checking it out what they found was both fascinating and a bit horrifying if we're being honest after heading deep into the jungle and climbing up mounted seeing things unlike anything else first they stumbled across pink ferns and blue mushrooms each so colorful they seemed to fake the disturbing part came when they found a massive carnivorous pitcher plant that was large enough to consume everything up to the size of a rat while there's definitely more to be discovered in Palawan we draw the line at meat-eating plants Namib Desert when you ask someone to name a desert the most likely answer is the Sahara it makes sense given the Sahara Desert is the largest hot desert in the world roughly the size of the United States however there's another African desert which is often overlooked by most people much further south on the continent south western shores you can find the Namib Desert obviously found in Namibia the Namib Desert is considered by many to be the oldest desert in the world while thanks to satellite imagery we all know it's there this vast expanse of sand is not an area many have tried to explore in any great detail adding an element of horror-movie to this area cold currents and warm air often create thick fog along the coast the result is that the desert coastline is littered with thousands of shipwrecks and holds the unfortunate nickname of the skeleton coast parts of this desert are home to animals as small as beetles and as large as ostriches and elephants given so few people have ventured into the vast openness of this area it is believed there are still many more creatures unique to this area just waiting to be discovered come chat kheh Russia is a massive landscape stretching from Europe in the West all the way to the Pacific from plains to forests to mountains and deserts this country has it all in fact if you go far enough east you'll reach the massive Peninsula called come chat qey here visitors encounter a world of fire and ice now it's not like Game of Thrones as we're pretty sure there are no dragons or White Walkers here but there are massive mountains covered in snow and expansive areas filled with hot geysers and cold streams as an added twist over two dozen of those mountains are actually volcanoes which are still active in terms of people come Cheska has a population of around 320 thousand but the majority of those live in the south this leaves the northern areas largely uninhabited and unexplored there's a good reason for this given the peninsula seas cool summers and bitterly cold winters it makes sense to go as far south as possible and leave the rest of this wild land to the Bears foxes wolves and since we have an open mind yetis venezuelans sinkholes deep in the jungles of southern Venezuela is the Cerro sorry sorry Yama in addition to its remoteness those who want to explore the area are often warned by villagers who say the caves of the mountain are home to an evil spirit that devours human flesh in all seriousness one of the most striking features of this mysterious place are the four massive sinkholes pitting its surface the largest called Sima Humboldt is around 1,000 feet wide and deep since first being spotted from the air in the 1960s only a handful of expeditions have tried to explore the area what they found was that inside each sinkhole a unique ecosystem had developed far different than that found in the rest of the forest dozens of unique creatures including frogs and lizards were recorded to live in the area today because there are no roads to the mountain range access is by air only however access is even more restricted thanks to the government who will only allow dedicated researchers into the area so do you know how much of the Earth's oceans have been explored the answer a measly five percent that means despite all of the exploration the and satellite imagery 95% of our waters remained totally unknown to us who knows there could just be a giant Kraken living down there somewhere while our exploration has ended for today yours can keep going from the strange and mysterious lands and creatures on earth to the unexplained finds in outerspace the richest has you covered on the issue of exploration we can provide all the answers but we can hopefully point you in the right direction and that first direction should be over to the subscription button before you leave thanks for dropping by and we'll see you next time bye-bye
