My Simple Hair Care Routine for Graying Hair | Natural Hair - Type 4 | 4 Steps

and this is how my hair looks it's fluffed out and has movement and I like hi everyone its Evelyn and I'm back with another video I hope you're having an amazing day in today's video I am sharing my hair care routine and this video was suggested by Miss Swan Bowie bahati from one Bowie made it when Bowie said it this one Bowie miss one Bowie you know what I love talking about here it's right up my alley and so I am happy to make this video for you today I have to warn you guys that this video might be a little longer than usual because I want to share with you my hair history my hair care routine and also if you haven't noticed I have a scarf on my head I'll be sharing with you how I style my hair so let's get right into the video I got my first relaxer when I was only 12 years old because my grandmother got tired of straightening my hair with a hot comb I stopped relaxing my hair when I was in my late 20s and I have been wearing my natural hair without altering the texture with any chemicals for almost 17 years right here I'll insert some photos [Music] [Music] [Music] now let's get into my hair care routine I take a simple minimalistic no-nonsense approach with my hair and I don't do a whole lot of things to my hair I've learned that less is more and that by doing so my hair is healthier and much happier for it step 1 I shampoo my hair I use two different types of shampoos I use a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing shampoo every time I shampoo my hair I do not use a clarifying shampoo I only use the clarifying shampoo when I feel my hair needs that type of shampoo after I clarify my hair I always follow with the moisturizing shampoo let me share with you my clarifying shampoos the first one that I have is the daily clarifying shampoo from swab this shampoo is not as stripping but it does cleanse the hair it doesn't strip it and make it squeaky squeaky clean like the one I'm about to share with you the second clarifying shampoo I have is the Neutrogena anti residue shampoo now this shampoo right here it will squeak squeak squeaky clean your hair and so I don't use this as often I only use it when I really want to get stuff off my hair and I really want my hair clean and I follow with a moisturizing shampoo before I share the moisturizing shampoos with you I want you to know that a moisturizing shampoo cleanses the hair but it also deposits conditioning agents to the hair so that your hair does not feel stripped and part store squeaky squeaky clean but unlike clarifying shampoos that's not the case now let's get into the moisturizing shampoos that I have the first one is the mixed chicks sulfate free shampoo it is one of the best sulfate fries I've used long time the next shampoo that I use is the nexus therapy ultimate moisture shampoo it too is moisturizing step number two condition the hair or deep condition the hair and here are the conditioners that I use the first two conditioners are rinsed off conditioners and they have good detangling properties and they are moisturizing - the first one is the Tresemme moisture rich conditioner and the next one is the Nexus Q matrix replenishing conditioner next up are my deep conditioners I have two deep conditioners that I want to share with you and they are the rapid recovery from miss jessie's and the mix chicks deep conditioner deep conditioners are conditions that are thicker and they are usually formulated to help give your hair more moisture as well as to treat anything that's going on and to help repair and to build up and all that good stuff these are the two conditioners that I have but I have two more that I'm not quite sure about because I haven't used them enough to make a decision but these two right here they are my favorite the other two deep conditioners that I want to show you are Miss Jessie's sweet back treatment super sweet back treatment and the macadamia professionals ultra moisture masque okay the jury is still out on these two that's why you know I'm not really saying much about them but the other two they are my favorite these two are in my stash I haven't used them as much to come to a you know to determine if I really want to keep using them step number three apply a leave-in product or conditioner and I have three that I want to share with you the purpose of a leave-in conditioner is to give your hair more moisture and to also help your hair not dry out when you are applying styling products the first one that I have is Miss Jessie's leave in the second one is the kinky curly knot today the last one I have is Mixed Chicks leave in conditioner and I use this as a styler so if I use this I pretty much stop at step 3 let my hair air dry and I'm good to go but normally if I use one of these conditioners I am going to step 4 which is to style the hair I use a variety of different products to style my hair depending on how I want my hair to look if I want my hair to look fluffy and full I use a cream if I want my hair to be more controlled with curl definition and I want it to last longer and I want some hold I will use a gel or a cream gel here are the moisturizing creams that I use when I want a fluffy curly fro or a fluffy twist out I use the Miss Jessie's curly butter cream or I use the as I am double buttercream these two I use for moisturizing my hair as well the next group of products are stylist and here they are we have the Miss Jessie's pillow soft curls this is a lotion type of styler it holds my hair but it does not give it ultra definition in Ultra control it does define my curls but when I want to have fluffy hair I'll wear this yeah I wear this and also if I wanted to be smelling good I you know I wear this the next group of products or products that I use to get curl definition more control and hold and the first one that I have is the Miss Jessie's curly pudding the next product I have is the kinky curly curling custard it doesn't come in this container I actually poured it into this container kinky curly curling custard comes in a jar but that's what's in this bottle this is a custard somewhat of a light type of moisturizing gel and it holds the curls and gives the curls definition and control the next product I use in which I don't use it too often is the eco styler gel if I want hold and I want definition and I wanted to last a long time I will use some eco styler gel I have a few different kinds of eco styler gel this is just one of a few that I have the pink one I want to show you my support products and these are oils and pomades I don't use these too often but when I do this is what I use so here they are these are oils and pomades the first all I have is jojoba oil and I use oils for high oil treatments and I use them in conditioners I don't always use oil in my hair because my hair dries out when I use oil the second oil that I have is from Shea Moisture it is 100% pure argan oil and the next oil I have is from Miss Jessie's the my Fuhrer oil I guess I'm saying it right I don't know it's my Fuehrer oil and this here is from organics it is a coconut oil mist hydrating type of product and it gives your hair shine it's something I use as a finishing product for my hair and last I have some good old blue magic yep I use hair grease every now and then I will use some blue magic ain't no shame in my game that is the end of my routine and so let's recap step 1 I shampoo step 2 conditioned or deep conditioned step 3 I apply a leave-in conditioner or a product leaving product step 4 I style my hair and sometimes I use support products and they are oils and pomades that I showed you now what I'm getting ready to do is to take off this scarf and show you how I style my hair my hair is in twist and I'm gonna come a little bit closer to the camera so you can see me my hair is in twist and I want to show you how I i fluff out my hair from twists my nighttime routine includes me moisturizing my hair and I use curly butter cream most of the time I don't use curly butter cream every single night I only use it when my hair feels dry and so most of the time I twist my hair at night sometimes I will wear my hair out and loose but here's the deal my hair ends up getting dried out when it's left out even if I have a scarf or a bonnet on so here is my twist and what I have in my hair is the curly butter cream we're going to take these down very gently I don't do a whole lot of loc method the wouldn't leave in the oil and cream I don't do that because I use a product that actually has all that stuff in it and it's a good product so I just stick with it so I'm taking my twist down and I'm going to show you exactly what I do to get a fluffy twist out and I forgot to mention if you want a curly fro you can just when you twist your hair just tuck that in okay and leave it like that and we take it down you'll have a curly fro but I tend to let my twist hang today I didn't tuck them under so you make sure I got everything out I don't want to mix any twist okay here we go okay so what I do is I go through and I'm looking in the mirror to I go through and I just take them and loose gently and my hair is very soft just kind of taking one loose now I'm trying to move fan stuff my battery on my camera is saying oh we bout to run out okay okay I'm taking it a loose and you can see how it is the buttercream makes my hair fluffy so I like my hair to be fluffed out and not controlled most of the time because that's how I get my big here so we're moving as fast as we can here and you can see how I'm taking it apart here very gentle okay okay it's pretty much like I like it and then in order for me to fluff my hair I will get a pick and lift it so let me get my pick right quick I got my trusty pick you don't really necessarily have to use a pick but you can use your fingers like I'm doing right now but in order to get it big the way you want it you can use a little bit of a pick or a comb or whatever okay so I'm going to use my pinky and I'm gonna go in here and just lift at the root okay to make it bigger you see how that just got bigger okay I'm gonna do the same thing over here okay and I'm gonna do the same thing in the back here okay that's it and every night I retwist it back sometimes I put some cream on it sometimes I don't but I do this when I want to have a fluffy hair I don't want control I don't do wash and gos that much I used to but I stopped because I was getting a lot of nights on my ends and now that I'm doing this I don't get a lot of knots on the ends of my hair so here we go and I don't know how it looks in the back but I'm gonna turn around so you can see it okay and that is it if you have shorter hair you can do the same thing just twist it and take it or loose and pick it out and get yourself some volume and get me good to go and that concludes this video if you like this video please give it a thumbs up
