My Secrets For An Amazing Smelling Home! MissLizHeart

hey guys welcome back so springtime is just around the corner and today I'm gonna share with you some of my favorite things to do around my house to get it smelling fresh and clean if you do enjoy the video please give it a thumbs up before you go and subscribe so we have been having some incredible weather lately where I fed sweet spot right in the middle of winter and spring where there is no allergens the Sun is out the weather is crisp and cool it's seriously one of the best times of the year so I went through the entire house and open up all the windows this really helped get the process of getting the house just smell good by airing it out you can kind of hear the kids playing you can hear the birds chirping and it really kind of gets you in the mood for the new season now it's time for a little aromatherapy and I love making pot simmers for the springtime I'm thinking more citrusy a little bit more herbs so I'm mixing some lemon and also rosemary and a splash of vanilla extract this is such a beautiful scent I will warn you though if you're not crazy about the smell of rosemary then maybe try a different herb in place of rosemary or you can skip it all together and use orange peel and just bring that pot of water slowly up to a simmer and let it simmer for as long as you want but if you're more of a candle girl I totally don't blame you I love lighting a good candle that fills up my entire house with aromas and this is my favorite candle at the moment this is from Anthropologie it's their volcano candles if you're looking for a beautiful scent that works all year round this is it I haven't ran into a single person that doesn't love it it's a little bit on the fruity side but it's not super sweet as you guys know we do have two puppies and a baby so our pillows and throws they tend to accumulate dirt and random weird stuff so this is one of the quickest way to refresh your entire house is just go around and remove all the pillow covers all the throws and wash them all at the same time this is going to give you the biggest impact stunt twice but my little secret are the scent beads these are the downy UNSTOPABLES I've mentioned these before my channel but I'm sure they obsessed with how they smell they are on the pricey side so I do try to reserve them only for larger items like this so I do add two scoops to the wash and this seriously gets my blanket throat pillows everything just smelling amazing and the smell really lingers for a few days so I absolutely love it in between washes I do spray it with my own little homemade concoction this stuff is awesome it's basically like homemade Febreze but you use the same scent beads you just need about one scoop of your unstoppable beads hot boiling water I used about a cup and then at some sort of alcohol I'm using witch hazel because that's what I had on hand and you just give that a good shake and you're ready to go I will have all the exact measurements of all the DIYs that I talked about in this video listed in the down bar so check that out so aside from my throw pillows and blanket I also love using this on my curtains and it just makes the entire room smell incredible I have a second DIY spread that I love using and this one's made with essential oils I mix grapefruit rose in Vermont and it smells incredible it's more of a calming scent so I really like using this one on our bed sheets you just need some sort of alcohol in this case I'm using witch hazel this really helps to preserve that spray and it gives it a longer shelf life and then water and that's it you just mix it up and you're ready to use this stuff I really love how it smells and what's great about this is that if you are sensitive to smells you can really adjust how potent it is by adding more or less water to it but I will also leave the exact measurements that I like for my mixture in the downbar another great use for essential oils is to make your trashcan smell good all you do is just soak a cotton ball with your favorite essential oils I actually used lemon and lavender and just stick that at the bottom of your trash can before you start putting trash in it that easy I'm sure you guys are very familiar with the powers of a teen soda I remember growing up always seeing one of these orange boxes in my Aleta's refrigerator and I never knew why I was in there come to find out it is a natural deodorizer you can basically just leave it in its box and kind of tuck it somewhere in your refrigerator it's going to absorb all of the food smell so that when you open your refrigerator it smells and fresh and clean it also makes an excellent carpet deodorizer you sprinkle that all over your carpet you'd like that sit for about 30 minutes if you do have a high pile of rug out kind of go around and push that product into the rug so it really starts absorbing it and then you let it sit for about 30 minutes and vacuum it up it's super simple if you guys have pets like we do the occasional accident is bound to happen and baking soda will do the trick but there's one extra step to do before you add baking soda and that is you want to neutralize the pet odor first so we're making a white vinegar solution with equal parts of water and vinegar we're gonna go back to the pet stain and if it's a fresh one make sure to soak it all up I wouldn't use paper towels because it's a little bit more hygienic and then you're gonna go in and soak that area with that vinegar spray and when I'm talking soap I mean you need this to be completely submerged in order for it to completely neutralize the pet order let that sit for about a minute and then you're gonna go back in and soak as much of that vinegar up as you can again I'm using a paper towel for this and now we're gonna add our baking soda so for this is very important to push that baking soda into your carpet especially if you have a high pile of rug let that sit for about 30 minutes and then vacuum it up and you guys will see the pet odor will be completely gone and you can go back to loving your fur babies again something else that I love using around the house is dryer sheets these little babies are seriously little miracle workers they work for so many things I like using these on the pieces of furniture that I don't use my spray-on just give them a good wipe down with it it'll transfer that clean scent to it and at the same time it removes pet hair if you're looking for some dryer sheets that are a little bit more gentle and they have less chemicals the seventh-generation ones are really nice this is one of my little secrets to do right before we have company over the smell it doesn't linger quite as long as the spray does but it does the trick for a short amount of time if you're looking for an alternative to dryer sheets to dry your clothes these little wool balls are awesome you basically add a few drops of your favorite essential oils you let that sit for about 20 minutes and then you pop that in the dryer with the rest of your laundry and not only is going to soften your laundry but it's also going to give it a nice scent depending on what essential oil you use and my last little secret to get my house smelling good is to use cleaning products that smell good and I love these Bichel draya they have so many beautiful scent and what I personally like about them is that they don't smell like cleaning products at all it honestly reminds me of walking into like a really nice department store or like a hotel lobby that smells really
