hello welcome back down to my pantry i have to put cherry pie filling and greens away and one of you actually several of you said why don't you show us your pantry rachel which i'm glad to do but not when it looks like this but i figure hey this is real life and this is what it looks like when mama's spending time in the garden and i don't have time to keep up my pantry uh yeah it turns into quite the disaster so you guys get a behind the scenes while i clean up kind of reorganize my stock shelves and uh clean up some food that's gone bad and all the stuff that it takes to manage your own storeroom so come with me [Music] so this is probably the best view to give you a disaster overview just boxes of empty jars canner dismantled on the floor maybe you guys can't see um hold on yeah that's seeds and all my five gallon totes just a mess so we are gonna clean up i think what i wanna do though how much is in my way yeah i think i want to clean up my shelves first and just get things organized maybe talk to you guys through kind of where i'm sitting at stock i mean i have a lot still um and what things are low and then we'll put jars away and clean up well first things first [Music] don't let this happen in your pantry that is an old spaghetti squash that is dehydrated and can't grow with seeds in my pantry so we'll save those seeds and then that's all that's left of our onions from last year and as you can see some of them are sprouting they're still pretty firm so we've been using them i use the last of this one's bad the last of my red onions um to make those greens had quite a lot of those left and they were in the same condition um sprouting some of them just spilling them make sure that they're still firm they're not firm i'll toss so that's pretty impressive being that i harvested these last august and that's as bad as they look okay those are all still good all right and then i have let's just check our sweet potatoes these are the now going yep i'm going to throw all these away that's three year old almost sweet potatoes so i harvested those in 2019 and we're gonna toss those you know if i had done a better job um it's just a busy busy life um if i had been a very good steward of my food that i grow i would have canned to these before they went bad um but you know it's hard like this one is still perfectly good that's amazing so i'll keep him he's still good still good good yeah some of them are just getting soft or too small so there's no point in keeping them all right let's check last year's sweet potatoes okay some are bad that's what's left of last year's sweet potatoes um so let me just go through these i'll just pull out anything that's small and not gonna make it okay after going through them that is what i have left let's see okay those sweet potatoes yep and just to be transparent that is what i see in there what was thrown away mostly like little skinny things that just shriveled up um so now i have a dirt mess but that's okay we are gonna go through all of my shelves so this is honey we've only used one quart we had four quarts coming out of the air pickled green tomatoes i didn't make much because it was my first time doing those i think i made six pints in total i've got one pint still in the fridge and they're just not a favorite uh chicken noodle soup base four pints oh todd was asking if we're low on salsa so this was the overflow of salsa and then let me bring you guys up here and then up here was the main stack so we'll just refill these shelves there's only one in overflow oh that one will leave a bit okay carrot soup still plenty of carrot soup so i don't need to make any more of that you guys are new to my channel since we built the pantry and you're interested in how we built it we have a whole playlist on the build um it tells you kind of what materials spacing and sizing of shelves as you can see we built a lot of shelves very specific to pints some shelves very specific to quartz and now my spicy honey pickles which were my absolute favorite these are all bread and butters [Music] so i think i'll move my spicy honey pickles up i only have four pints of that left then i have one two three four five five pints of dill left i you would have thought i was pregnant this year the way i ate pickles i probably eat no less than 12 pickles a day just love them okay bread and butters and then i have i'll move some of my dills up here just so everything's kind of easy grab a section depending on what kind of pickle you want all right so if i don't as you can see i've got three full rows these are one two three four five six seven jars deep if i'd end up not getting a great cucumber harvest as you guys can see out if you're following my garden tours i'm struggling with my cucumbers this year i think i'll still be set for one more year of pickles we have one can of turkey down here we had quite a few of those still good on my kidney beans very low on garbanzo or chickpeas because we make a lot of our own hummus so i only have i think four jars left of that still good on baked beans good on white beans for now probably 12 jars this is all chicken or turkey stock and i'm two rows deep on that so about 14 pints of stock this is sloppy joe mix i've only got one thing of ground beef left is this barbecue pulled pork six pints that's ham we've got probably five pints of ham i've used a lot of my soup so this is my favorite it's a spicy green soup i'm gonna move that down by my carrot soup look at that it's just so so good oh my favorite um so i've got two of those left this is just uh beans for soup base so there's lots of good spices in there one two three four five five and a half and then all of our chicken so and turkey okay so i'm gonna move this turkey down here with this turkey so it's all together and then i marked this one old hen because these were from our old hens that we harvested and then we have rounds of regular chicken so let's see if we can condense these and then we have lots of smoked chicken so get that loaded up so pretty good on chicken okay so three rows deep of chicken and now hopefully you guys can see everything okay it's hard to get you in here because all the boxes of empty jars this was where i need to go through and clean up all my labels i had four rows of southern greens last year i'm down to just shy of two rows so i restocked to those that i'll be adding back to this shelf one jar of pickled red onions my ketchup we've used quite a bit so move those up to get them re where people can easily find it okay i still have these pickled cherry tomatoes they will get used there's only four left all right this is from 2020. or 2019 excuse me the pickle relish i don't like pickle relish that much i much prefer zucchini relish so i only have three jars of pickle relish left i am using it where i like to use it is in things like potato salad um dill pickles oh okay here's my dill pickles i'm gonna put my dell pickles down here so they're all together this was dill too oh i have a lot of dill pickles left i guess i didn't see all these down here so i have almost um 12 more jars of dill pickles here this is all zucchini relish this is pineapple zucchini i think i only have three you know four jars left of the pineapple zucchini oh chilies four or five pints of chill or half pints of chilies [Music] two um pints of my pickled peppers so definitely need to do a lot more of that which i sure am going to be able to stock up the pantry this year i'm going to have a very large pepper harvest and let me see if i can get you guys up here back in here see cowboy candy if you guys were with us i think this was full a full four rows of cowboy candy so we love our cowboy candy and use it we probably go through a jar a jar a month easily and we give a lot away because it's everyone's favorite so this is tomato sauce barbecue sauce i only have one barbecue sauce actually the rest of this is tomato sauce salsa that was what we were talking about how are we on salsa so we have two full rows of salsa here plus the two at the bottom there so that's 14 15 16. still have plenty of my salsa verde and then last year whoops i made the spicy yellow mustard and we really really like that i think when i made it i was two rows deep we've eaten through a row and we probably have about five pints left this is all maple syrup what is that applesauce applesauce i think that's apple butter okay my favorite whoops i i lost a jar it is tricky because i have little arms so it is tricky for me to reach back here sometimes but my pickled coleslaw is 1 2 3 getting very shy this was also probably four rows deep and i have so that's seven eight nine ten eleven i have eleven so i could probably ration and last another year if i had to but as i keep telling you guys and sharing the seventh year on this land we're not um planting it we're not harvesting anything from it well we may harvest some volunteers i shouldn't say that but the intentional gardening will not be happening we'll just let the land rest so i really need to continue i have two more years this is our fifth year stock up the pantry so i can see myself through that seventh year um zucchini jam which i probably can move up to the jam shelf now we've eaten through almost all of the mulberry jam [Music] okay this is another zucchini challenge enchilada sauce i made a ton of that there's one two three four five left pineapple juice and i think i've got some sweet onion jam back there which stays hidden for reserve purposes and then of course i have tons of jellies up here i don't think you guys can see them because the pipe's in the way but still very good on jams and jellies so i have room not a ton of room not i know i don't need to stress about my cucumber plants which makes me feel good to see how many pickles actually still have we will definitely probably add back two full if not three full rows of salsa um what else would be coming out of the pantry oh definitely tons more of my pickled coleslaw i'm adding back the greens today yeah i think it's going to be good and probably do um what you would see this year coming on the pantry shelves is pint-sized jars of my pizza sauce i didn't share that recipe with you guys last year so i will be bringing that to you it is excellent so last year was kind of a trial run do we like it and we absolutely love it so while i'm over here though i'll do the court shelves at the end of the video i'm going to get the greens loaded up and then i'm going to start showing you guys i'll show you guys and then off camera move all my jars in [Music] i have four more of my late parfait jars upstairs so i'll bring those down in a little bit but back here underneath the stairs is where i store all my jars so let me take you in there give you a sneak peek of inventory right now where i'm sitting at and then everything that we consume i kind of just i'll show you an example so as they're consumed i keep all my boxes and then i just come down here and bring them like i'll bring these boxes upstairs as they come out of the dishwasher load them up and then every now and then i come down here and at least make sure that they're in the right box so at the back row i have a bunch of quartz stacked pints lots of pints jelly jars so i do keep up on my inventory more pints more quartz i keep buying bottles just in case we ever want to get into making our own wine but i think i have room to stack the rest of my stock back here [Music] so [Music] okay this is my quart shelves soup [Music] broth one can of broth one quart that's all i have left let me move my soups together so i have one two three four five so my shelves are six quarts deep and i have 11 uh cans of my spicy white bean soup which i absolutely love last minute you're having company over dump two of those in a pot and make a thing of cornbread and it's just really quick and simple uh i'll move you down here and then uh what is this mexican tomatoes only two so i definitely need to do a lot more chili based tomatoes this year i didn't do enough of that last year these are all creole tomatoes so i just have the six and a pint clean tomatoes so i have one two three pints two quarts of just plain canned crushed tomatoes and then this is all spaghetti sauce um so all spaghetti sauce so one two three four four times six twenty twenty four yeah right yeah 24 26 37 28 29 29 pint or quarts of spaghetti sauce so if we have spaghetti twice a month more than enough i really don't need to do more spaghetti sauce this year but i do need to do lots more mexican and i definitely need to do tons more pizza sauce so this is the pizza sauce we canned last year and i only have four of these little half pints left so that's probably going to be the bulk of my tomato canning this year and along with the salsa and then i'll probably freeze a bunch extra for soups and things like that so more of my taco soup i only have two taco soups left so let's move this down with our taco soup or our other soups i should say that's what i should do i should put all my soups on the bottom shelf because this is going to get all filled with tomatoes this year all right and this is all oh i know what that is cowboy candy brine so when i go to make my cowboy candy i'm not gonna need to do oh look what i just found i did two quarts of my spicy honey pickles yay for me that's exciting actually two four quarts that's great and then this is all cowboy candy brine so i'm going to have tons of brine to do my cowboy candy this year let's move on down to the next shelf dilly beans which i've told you guys many many times i do not like so i'm not sure i'm probably going to just end up dumping them next time we have pigs these are all mexican or chili beans so they're flavored with yummy mexican flavors another taco soup [Music] taco soup chili beans all right so down to just the six pints of chili beans and then i've got one two three four five five plus one five times six is 30 31 quarts of green beans still and we do eat them quite a lot i just put up so much down here on this shelf this is sweet potatoes and we've used quite a bit i only have 10. um let's move our apple pie filling somewhere for now find a place for you i've used them quite a bit and that's been really fun to have for just some quick mashed sweet potatoes or desserts even so i have nine quarts left this is applesauce you gotta find a different home because i'm gonna do tons more carrots this year more chili beans okay this is a good reason to every now and then just get down there and reorganize your pantry so you really realize what you have okay um let's come down here okay this is the sad one but we really went through a ton of i only have four quarts of my canned potatoes left we absolutely loved those and we did a time [Music] so definitely need to stock up on that we have lots of lard still so i don't need to do any more lard right now there's tons in the freezer to be processed but i really don't like processing it until i'm getting low because it just doesn't have as long of a shelf life okay now let's get the last two jars of our cherry pie filling um i probably won't do quarts of coleslaw mix again just because we don't do that much hosting where um i need quart size coleslaw broth for us tons of pickled beets still oh this is uh mixed berry pie filling so you can go with the pie fillings okay carrots so significantly low on carrots i only have three rows of quartz left so we have 18 19. so definitely need to restock carrots i'm going to move this pizza sauce over to the pint shelf now that i have room over there so i know the lighting's not great but that does show you kind of this just spacing wise how much room i still have i did tell todd i'm starting to worry about outgrowing my pantry here so talking about where could we add additional shelves so definitely more potatoes this year definitely adding back to the green bean stock definitely loading up on our carrots again uh probably one round of canned sweet potatoes the rest i'll keep for dry storage i did mention i've got four pints of canned pumpkin lot or four quarts canned pumpkin i'll add that to that stock this year the mexican tomatoes um more uh tomatoes just for soup no more spaghetti sauce um but the pizza sauce for sure and salsa so i think i gave you did i give you guys an overview of the pint row so this is the pint shelf i think i talked about everything i need to add back there so last year this was so full i had to start storing pints over on my court shelf but i just need to do a little last minute clean up sweep the floors put canners away things like that and i'm excited to bring you guys tons of canning videos so come back and we'll be restocking this pantry together thanks for coming and cleaning with me and organizing and once again don't be a rachel and maintain your pantry talk to you guys later you
