guess we got himself a new studio come have a look [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I think like every photographer you want your own Studio space I've been putting it off and dreading it and stressing about it but finally finally put it together finally found a spot like my eyes were opened with how expensive it is for rent but finally found somewhere that I can afford and this is now mine for the next year this this is now my space let's do a quick Studio Tour show you what I've done with the space how I'm thinking about how to work it from the experience of going into different places having to load in and just the convenience that owning your own Studio would bring to me in my workflow so this is it's not perfect if you have suggestions please put them in the comments I'd love to hear them but this is what I've done so far right we'll start at the front door and first problem where do you put your lightstands where do you put your tripods where I put them is a YK PL box it's fr difficult to find something that's going to suit to put these in not have them lying everywhere I can easily get to these um there is a knack I found to put them back in again but it's tidy it's nice gone with an Ikea bookshelf and I have you know different things in here we've got adapters just estimate adapters for my 8200s I've got my 7in reflectors you've got an abundance of grids to add on to these as well so the motivation for putting everything like this here is these are the immediate accessories and modifiers that I need for a shoot for anything all my needs are all in one corner soft boxes light stands tripods got reflectors we've got grids I even have the color Checker it's all at hand it's all very easy and it's all in one place I don't have to go to drawers for one thing presses for another thing it's all right here if you're enjoying the video maybe give it a like And subscribe to the channel it really helps me out as you can see I haven't really decided what to do when it comes to coat hangers so today I have my hoodie on and I just put it on the back of this chair but really and truly it should be put somewhere else so we got this nice chair lighting all the rest for a dressing table for makeup and hair that's that sort of den then on over here we've got the nice ful length mirror didn't think I needed this but like I'm telling you when you have a subject and they need to see you know I had a head shot shoot the other day and I was just like just I just need you just you know I'm trying to describe what part of the hair needs to be maybe dabbed or controlled they look here and oh hold on yeah yeah cool and then you see in the corner here I have this big case this big massive case so what this case is for it holds the framework for this backdrop this is a sensational backdrop system I'm after getting it is full cloth and I'll show you right now this is literally just cloth and it just pops in and there you go and it's gone it's down like that and you can switch it really easily and you'll see right here how I went from shooting on a white background with a model within the shoot switching to a black and it's really easy you can you can use it over and over again as you can see this is a massive backdrop this is 3 m wide and it can fluctuate between the length to the front or the height depending on how you set up the frame system because of the height that I have I don't have as much space to the top now I can't remember what it is in meters it's about 7.9 ft the ceiling does actually extend higher towards the front door up to 9 and 1/2 foot because of the situation and the position of the door and the window it made sense to keep this back here so instead of having Even Stevens the distance of 2 and 1/2 m to the front versus 2 and2 m to the to the height I had to foro the height and I've actually space here and you can see I can come right to the front here 3 m wide there's loads of space that can bring lights in and even if I want to keep it natural light I have a massive massive window of a 3M white window here as well it does cause some issues for video obviously because you're subject to daylight but I can just simply just want to follow me here I can just simply just pull these blackout lines blackout curtain even and there we have some control of the lights it's not ideal you can see that the window is slanted but it's does control the light considerably enough I do have Bright Lights here in the ceiling and you know when you turn these off you do get a nice dark scene so this is what it looks like when I have all the lights off still not overly dark the room could be darker but I don't really intend on doing much video I am a photographer over videographer I will do some video but usually in products you're going to be shooting at f11 not f2.8 so in those I I can control a light more now let's see what's in the corner over here little bit of a m yes I will admit so in the corner is my travel bags this is the bottom one carries my light stands the middle one carries my lights and then we've got a gvm tube light gvm 3008 you would have seen that in my most recent review and then we have this Yol um I I had to figure out some way to hold backdrops I used to carry them in a portfolio which problem was you couldn't really see what you had at least now I can get clients to come over and they can come and you know for products and they can say I want to have the concrete put that back in again maybe they want to go for the marble whatever you know you can easily pick out if you need a white bounce card you can get that it's more about having it quick to hand than actually tucking it away previously it was just about tucking it away at the home studio and having it available to be put into the van now I can have it on display I have my drawing board I have all these different backdrops quick the hand come in get it up really quickly so really liking this it's not it's not the sturdiest of things it's just literally there to hold them in place U and it's it's €7 so what more can I say and then we come to this this was my present to myself for the new studio um I've always been using just cheap 50 60 100 Year light stands and I've been wanting to get a SE stand for a long time but being on the goal doesn't really sell too much to get C stands they're cumbersome they're heavy this is heavy it does have a 7 kilo counter weight on it currently so if I was to lift this with it all included like there's a good bit of weight to that I did opt for the upgraded head to this so This section here is not actually part of the SE stand so the SE stand did come with its own boom arm and then this is the upgraded version this is the amberl one and you can see here I bring it up closer to you you can see the riveting that's on it which means that it's not going to Sag as easy when you put heavy weights on it h it gives extra reach cuz the arms are phenomenally long and you can see here I'm 5'8 and the minimum height for this light is closing in on 6 foot uh which you know gives me so much room somewhat spec I don't have to actually try and get the lights to a higher height they're already kind of there already so yeah I've been using this quite a bit lately and absolutely loving it obviously with the casters I can lock them easy enough so that's really nice too so now we have the Big Yolk this was so heavy to lift me my brother struggled up the stairs that's a completely different story but uh this is solving different things you know obviously the storage for here is absolutely amazing but it needs to be somewhere that I can have clients and even myself sit down you know you you've got somewhere to sit be out of the way I'm shooting over here you could have a laptop or whatever so they could be looking at the laptop I'll be Ted in and they'll be signing off as I'm doing the shoot depends I could be doing portraits over there I could be doing products over there and it just means it cleans up that area that I have plenty of space for me not to trip over people it's not the biggest space you have to be careful and wise how you have people sit I have these nice piano stoes my parents G me they're not they're not using these anymore so that's great and we have different storages so top one one here is for audio needs and all of these are in a mess because these are actually been used this isn't the case of having it nice and neat this is just youve that much stuff in here is all of my camera accessories mounts endless supply of mounting options are all kept in here and if I have an overflow it can kind of go somewhere else but mainly a lot of the stuff gets held in here and then the other two are a little bit of a mess maybe we won't show those um up the top then again loads of different things from screwdrivers to hammers to you know spigots so this is a whole range of things I actually probably use this drawer the most of of them all and then if you come in here then in here we have all your different selections of air clamps even one of these which is a goose neck with a on it these are a pain to get into the drawer so I will be changing this H probably to one of the bigger ones just because this does cause a little bit of aggro getting it back in oh I got it in one I got it in one yes we won't try that again it was surprising that the the lift in here doesn't work so to be told that I had to lift this in was you know um was a challenge got the brother in but necessity I had talk about actually pulling this across here and actually having it this way and having it has as a seating area and then I did my first sh uh product shoot and we had so many lights and all that there for how big the product was it made more sense to have it up against the wall and I kept it this way it's nice you know it's just it's it's functional it's out of the way and I can still get everything I need you know people can can still sit here and then I can come up here so I have all my video lights some of my extra mono lights are up here different marting options some new ones that I haven't actually got used in yet some old ones as well um these super clamps I've been really looking forward to using so couple of super clamps and then I don't know what You' call this this a tabletop Vice and H my granny used to use one for art and I've taken on the I've taken on the idea for holding scrims reflectors and all that there works really good you never hear someone talking about this I don't know if anyone else using uses this uh really good hack if you've never heard of it and they cost like about 20 very very cheap different things in this one I've got you know the controllers for my strobe light you can see I've got different leads so finding charging leads and and the like is a bit of a pain so I keep kind of the more important stuff everything charging related in here batteries and all I kept in there and the next one filters I've got quite a few selections of filters to be reviewed right now so we've got free well and I've got case uh so I have them so they're just in there at a minute just because I know where else we need to put them so I'll figure that out later still figuring out what to do here again I'm literally here less than a month um small rig stuff is in here not too sure that box was just put out of the way um Nostalgia Corner my laptop normally sits in here too so I have the tablet and then oh it's a card from 2001 steing Dan's joke now but um yeah I I do want to do some retro product photography so I'm going to put those kind of uh gimmicky kind of you know personal portfolio stuff in here just to kind of keep them on top um yeah haven't really like I needed loads of storage I have loads of storage I just haven't got every uh whatever yet glycerin for you know for taking an ticking an agent for when you're doing some splash photography or you know even some spray bottles on the droplets on bottles then you got endless amounts of different adhesive apparatus or whatever like that there we've got your fake ice so this is mainly for props for product photography that's what that's going to be in here and down Flor again more props so these are more for backdrops got stainless steel I've got some silk I've got a leather things so I'm building up as much as I can storage for props to better my my uh my workflow gels backdrops again loads more stuff and then I think in here is the next One charging cables an absolute mess we'll get it sorted but charging cables so that is the studio in itself I have been stressing about this been excited for it not sure what way it was going to work and I think I have it working quite well H one thing you will notice as well from all the walls is unlike at home where I had all that acoustic foam in the walls I have nothing on the walls here and there's a little bit of slap back it's not too bad I could probably treat that wall a little bit maybe a little bit here and I've heard an echo back there but primarily for the room sound that's in it as it is it's not too bad so I don't know I'm not really looking to do a lot of video I'd rather more focus on photography going forward in my career but you know with social media person as all towards video who really knows so I may have to look about doing some certain treatment I hope You' enjoyed just hope you got something from this if you did give the video a like maybe subscribe to
