hi everybody terrific to see you again hope you're having a wonderful week and I am excited to share that I have a little surprise for you today hair is done makeup is done so could it be a tutorial well of a different kind yes I will let you in on a little secret this past weekend I decided to do something bold as I always say people be blessed well I went there let me preface it all by reminding you that I have always joked about and have even done tutorials on my skimpy eyebrows and the fact that I tweeze them to thin little lines back in the 1990s and have now spent the rest of those years trying to fill in what God initially gave me between penciling and shadowing that has been my routine every single day and I have tried lotions and potions to try to thicken them I have tried supplements to no avail maybe one hair or two but that's about it so I figured I've got two choices in life either a continue with the penciling and the shadowing or be consider permanent makeup well that's what I did this past weekend this was a long process for me it involved a lot of thought a lot of research I'm a journalist I don't dive into anything too quickly so I spent some time looking to find who I felt would be the right person for me and I found her here in Houston her name is Connie Pearson her company is called / medica she's in the Galleria area and she does permanent makeup she also helps people with scarring and alopecia so even for medical reasons as well and she has a school there to teach other people how to do permanent makeup so after researching and meeting with her and talking with her and realizing what an artist she truly is and that's how she started in life as an artist it just seemed like the right fit for me I had the right comfort level and confidence to proceed so as I went this week and I wasn't sure if I was going to do this I just brought my camera with me and decided to roll video on the process to see how it went and how I felt about it and I have always been incredibly inclusive with you all and so why not with this particular procedure so I met her over the weekend she was kind enough to see me on a Saturday and we talked about colors we did a little testing on my hand and and played with a couple of different colors and she uses a couple of shades not one shade but several just to mimic a very natural look with the permanent makeup and so after we decided on some shades we then took a series of photos showing me with various expressions smiling frowning laughing which shows eyebrow movement the arch and what lines where the bone structure is and and what to follow and then we talked a little bit more and she explained the color choices and the process and the fact that this is really not one-stop shopping everything I do as I err on the side of caution like the first session is I always do the first session light because we want to wait and see what the skin is gonna do how's the skin going to treat the color that we're putting in there well everybody has cool tones and warm tones and so if somebody has cool tones you don't want to put a color on that's too cool because then everything will go to a natural color especially if somebody's needs a little warmth to their face then you want to add a color that has warmth to it like something with a caramel or at the hazelnut color cooler color would be something along the top range people on the video be like me domine got more yes you've got more numbing cream that I did ride with the Machine anymore because I found that these give a much more precise stroke it looks like hair so I don't use the machine these it's called micro bleeding a lot of people call it 3d eyebrows or eyebrow embroidery which I understand already part of it use these ones and you throw them away these are the first boundary strokes mm-hmm then I just put some more numbing cream on here now I'm gonna come over here and catch this side up I see I don't complete one eyebrow and then go to the next okay I do a little bit here and a little bit here and keep them caught up with each other and then they it just keeps me basically colors will oxidize and get darker as time goes on so you don't want to complete one eyebrow and then try to match this one to this one cuz then again one is gonna be darker than the other one so you just do a little bit each time on okay okay so this front area is really delicate right you don't want anything looking too heavy so I just put a few strokes here just to kind of give me a little guide before I'm going but I don't want to work on it until it's finished right now all right so when I wipe it off it's gonna look a little wimpy right here you see now I have my little guide strips there's none when I go back to this one you probably won't feel much of anything probably not see its blanching out is getting white under there right cuz the numbing cream has epinephrine in it and it's got lidocaine and epinephrine in the right Akane numbs the epidemic epinephrine restricts the blood vessels so that's what's happening the blood vessels are closing down got it Oh Yogi's hmm so what this does it just implant some of the the warmth into those strokes that I just did got it so we're mixing two colors magic you are magic okay so I'm gonna sit you up now because I I know we need to build up and they can air in through here right but I just want to make sure that we're doing it right when you're sitting up and settling down mm-hmm that that's unbelievable I mean do you know how long it takes me to draw this in yeah and Phil and they're perfect and I know they're gonna fade and I know this is a two and a three step process but but to see this framing an artistry from the get-go is mind-blowing Wow now I just need a little makeup now she was very clear in letting me know that this is a process that it's going to look much thicker and darker in the beginning and everybody's skin is different and will react differently to the color so expect fading it can be light to heavy fading and it may require two or three different steps follow ups basically to fill in some holes that might happen or to deepen it but so far I am loving the result I can't tell you how much time I saved putting on my makeup today not having to deal with eyebrows I have to be very careful there's a very strict instruction aftercare sheet of what I can do and can't do so I cannot get them wet I have to be very careful with makeup and and work around the brows but not get anything near them or in them and I have to keep them very clean and sterile no getting water on my face so there are some very strict aftercare procedures that must be followed to help the pigment stay which will in the end provide better results overall I would say it's not really painful it feels a little bit like scratching somebody's sort of scratching and poking at your eyebrows not a pleasant sensation but certainly not miserable either but this was just something that I felt I needed to do for myself you know I just want to shorten my process of having to get ready and I've been so frustrated with my brows and what I did to them I accept flow responsibility so in the end I had to go the permanent makeup route pay some big money for it but I felt it was worth it and now if anybody asks me if I have a tattoo I can say yeah you're looking at it so there you go that's my brows story and I'm sticking to it I hope this was informative for you I know a lot of you have probably considered permanent makeup maybe some of you have done it in fact I had people reach out to me when I did my brow video on YouTube I had several of you say that you've done permanent makeup and Connie even came recommended to me through a
