black mold huge leaks and standing water are all things that I need to solve before I can attempt to turn this place into my Ultimate Dream shop this is 50x 50 it's a nice big shop but it is it is full of some problems that I did not see when we bought this place check out all this water on the floor om mg I can see that it had been raining for a while here so I knew about that and I had seen that it had been raining here whenever we bought the place but last night we came in we started I mean I brought my equipment I brought my new to me Tractor which we will talk about here in a bit and then the mini X that I just got so we could develop this land a little bit and I met a roofer he came out and was to give us an estimate I was thinking they were going to repair the roof and uh because of the style of roof that it is it is not repairable this entire roof needs to be repaired or replaced I should say and I have to have a roof before we can even like I can gut this place which we have to now because there's definitely going be black mold behind all these panels so we won't be moving in for a little bit and we have a lot of work ahead of us on this fixer upper house that we just bought but holy cow is it cool we've been saving for many many years to buy our own chunk of property out of the city I want enough space that I can have a private Rock Garden where I can go and climb my my own Trails as soon as I finish a build I can go test out the suspension I could do reviews on my own Trails I want my kids to grow up on a go-kart and instead of in front of a TV playing video games and it's not that video games are bad or anything it's just I want the video game time to be very small in the country kid lifestyle to be very big we're going to have a garden here I want to have a greenhouse we're going to set this place up with solar and a wind turbine I want kind of an offthe grid compound where I can live the life that I have been wanting to live forever and this is the first step this rundown property in the middle of the mountains is the first step to us living out our American [Music] Dream this 1957 Massie Ferguson tractor was a gift from my mother and father-in-law for many decades they used this tractor and now they're getting at a point in their life where they don't need to do much more tractor it so they gave it to us knowing that we were going to be able to use it on the property that we were going to hopefully get this year and the plan today is to use this to level out this drivein as much as possible because before we can really start to work on this shop and fix the barn and all this other stuff we need a drive that is capable of getting heavy stuff back here without sinking in the mud so I've got a huge delivery of rock that's going to be coming and even though it's raining I need to get this drive as prepped as possible before all the gravel shows [Music] up [Music] I found a drain let's go check out the barn so this is my pond the roof leaks so bad in here we're getting bids we're hoping we can afford to have somebody fix the roof in here I mean before I can continue my job I have to fix the roof on the shop but I want to use the crap out of this Barn I mean and it's like stalls that are like Vehicles sized I've got a very cool 1937 Plymouth pt50 that I inherited that needs to get stored somewhere before we work on that whenever that's going to be and many other things that need to be stored in here this is two stories too all right see if we can oh boy this is cool up here I um I mean I could use a forklift and bring pallets up here I also if we can get it to not leak I wouldn't mind building some kind of an office have like a solar powered office or something I have no idea right now I just want to get the thing to not leak and then use this for storage but long term this guy's a limit my drains are working up here this is just to drain the upper part of the driveway this is is all going to go to that big pipe that I found so I need to expose a trench here we're going to fill it full of gravel and that entire Hillside and from here down is all going to drain into that huge pipe you can actively see running water through here it's like a ditch and then there's like some sort of covert thing here that you can like walk on and then boom I mean check this out you can see the water running and it's all coming off this hill it's just boatloads of water dumping down and want this to all be drivable I want gravel so that I can park stuff I want to build a lean to here and this is going to give me the best flexibility to build the ultimate [Music] shop oh that sounded like pipe I heard a cunk a buddy of mine brought his John Deere over to give me a hand and holy cow did the front loader on this thing open up like another level of efficiency so we put the trenching bucket on my mini ex I was able to dig ditches and he was just he was in charge of getting rid of the spoils which is killer so it's so much easier than what my original plan was but after a few hours I saw the first flaw in this Chinese mini excavator my poor Chinese mini excavator we have suffered our first casualty a drippy fitting and everything in this is like really hard to reach so I put a piano hinge on that side I cut the back and then put these straps in so at least I don't have to like I had before I would have had to unbolt all these bolts reach in there and then there was six bolts on the outside so at least we can get this level of access but the fitting that's leaking is like like back there so uh I have all the right tools to do this at my house but I don't have any tools here yet if you've seen the channel before you know that I can't leave anything stock and this mini excavator is no exception so I added this switch panel I added a fan to blow across the motor in order to like keep temps in check whenever I've been using it for a few hours I even added a filter for the hydraulic system to keep everything running strong these micro excavators are really interesting because you can get them so cheap like you can get them on Amazon you can get them on eBay uh I got mine on Marketplace I've seen them brand new at auction for like 3500 bucks 4500 bucks this one has like an enclosed cab which I found somewhat important because of where I live and uh so it was a little bit more money but dude these are all so crazy affordable you just got to expect that you're going to be turning wrenches in order to you know keep this thing alive and after digging all day and all night I was very happy happy that instead of renting equipment I just bought something inexpensive that I can use for these small jobs and make some huge progress on the shop dude freaking snowed last night so what happens when you buy a house know there's a lot of precipitation out here it's in the mountains but we got like all of our trenches dug last night and they're working but listen to that that is not ideal honestly this job should wait until the summertime but I'm not confident I can get a roofing company to come out and put a roof on this thing until I have something for them to like put ladders on and whatnot so we're going to fight the good fight and just do our best I mean what else do you do we're in the Pacific Northwest I've got a long career of digging in the rain as a plumber and unfortunately this is just kind of par for the course of what we got to deal with up here so but everything's flowing and it's flowing really well so I'm hoping that today we can get pipe in the ground we can get a bunch of rock down and make it so that when tomorrow all of our gravel shows up we're ready for them and uh we can lay down some fabric start laying down some black gravel and it'll match the black gravel that I got up there and then we can drive on this and have it not be just like an absolute soup for those of you that might not know this it is way cheaper to buy rock by the yard instead of buying it by the bag like you would at a hardware store Home Depot or something like that but in this instance because we can't get any like anything heavy behind the shop or next to the shop without it just turning into a mud hole I'm buying a pallet of way overpriced drain Rock just for the ease of being able to transport it back here a bag at a time but unfortunately I wanted to bed these French drains with some fabric and the fabric that I got is is not draining that water sure isn't going through this fabric worth of though so we end up pulling the fabric back out of the ditch which is not the end of the world in this case just because it is like a clay bottom so hopefully we won't get too much dirt into the perforations of this corated drain pipe but we'll see we're doing our best here it's a it's a deeper ditch than it was and it's going to be covered so that you know dogs and kids and stuff won't trip in it and then once we cover it with a few inches of our gravel I think that this should this should drain just fine and not be a muddy soupy mess next year but we'll see we're doing what we can with what we have right [Music] now I want all of the top gravel to be the same on this property so I took a scoop out of the gravel on our upper driveway to make sure that all the gravel that I'm buying for the lower driveway ways the same just cuz I I think it's going to look a lot more like an organized mess if I have some of the stuff between these different buildings [Music] matching I got great news today that is we've got a roofing company that's going to come out in 2 days to come out and do the roof on the shop and the roof in the barn it's extremely extremely expensive but this company has a great reputation and they can do this right now and that's good because I need to move my shop in here right now but unfortunately in the process of trying to build them a road we had a little hiccup what a mess this Road's good but the hill is not so unfortunately so the gal that showed up yesterday she didn't want to back down cuz she saw the mud on the road and she didn't like it which that's fine she called her boss her boss backed down no problem this morning she showed up she went over a few feet farther than she was supposed to and went into the hill and squished the whole hill down instead of into the road so right here is like the edge of where that hill was this morning and you can see where I spent the morning putting rock into the spot that the owner of the company said was too sloppy so I was like no problem so I bought a bunch of rock put it in there she messed up on her aim and turned into a really big project for me to fill and then we had to dump this because it was heavy and is probably the only way to get her back out and this is not the process in which this is supposed to go this over here is plastic this over here is Rock we don't want to drive on the plastic we want to drive on the Rock which is why yesterday I used my smallest lightest machine to spread all this rock out even though it was going to be the slowest machine to use because the strategy was this morning I pull that big green tractor my buddy let me borrow it and um I only have that driving on rock that is on plastic well because we had to dump a bunch of that earlier this morning now driving over the plastic which is tearing up the plastic and it's just not at all what we wanted to do the whole point is every time they bring a load of rock onto plastic that I just spread I can take that big machine and I can scoop it and I can spread it really quickly and efficiently um but only driving on the Rock so I don't tear up the plastic it's a setback but it's not the end of the world I mean what can you do you got to have a positive attitude it's at least not raining on me it's beautiful out right now so I'm gonna have to work through lunch in order to make today work for me but hopefully by the end of the day we have like way more black gravel than grass or mud this is 64 yards of black 5/8 gravel it is a ton of work I did what like five yards of drain Rock and then four yards of Cory spalls and I unloaded all that by hand this has been a brutal 9 days but now we have roofs on two of our buildings so they can start to dry out I've got a place that I can drive without getting muddy and we officially have a place that I can start work and on top of all that I've got a killer spot to raise my [Music] family you okay you did great it is great you want a hug that looks better that should keep the pond from happening oh it feels good to have roofs on things and now I feel like I can actually get started going through this thing and it actually be like worth my time this is supposed to be a 50x50 and it is a rectangle so I don't know how big this shop is I I got a I have a big tape measure I just need to bring it down here and measure if I was to guess I think it's might be 60 deep because this is definitely deeper than my last shop was so I have huge plans in here right above us I'm going to put a giant Loft like a humongous Loft because this is taller than my last shop I want to go vertical I want to I want to try to get as much off the floor as I can and get as much storage as I can up above so that'll be kind of fun to build out I want to do a concrete pad outside so we can mount an air compressor outside I hate having air compressors in with you and uh I've got a tire changer Tire balancer that I ordered off of Amazon um this is going to be like I want to make this my dream shop this shop has not been well taken care of for quite a few years but it has good enough Bones still that we can transform this thing I want to transform that Barn I want to make some cool stuff if you liked this content let me know in the comments it's a little bit different than what I normally do but if you want to see us slowly build out this property and watch me build out the Rock Gardens and stuff so I have places to play out here let me know in the comments comments because if you want me to just go back to normal Automotive stuff I'll just share that and I'll just do all the rest of this off camera so let me know I hope you enjoyed this video I hope to see you at the Matts off-road games next week uh that's our next big stop and then as soon as I get back we're building this shop out and trying to turn it into my dream shop thank you so much for watching we'll see you next time did you film me I did
