after i graduated college and went looking for a decent job thankfully i was hired at an entry level position my boss aka the manager of the branch told me that he would be training me himself i thought it was a bit weird that a manager had time to do that anyway it's not like i could complain about that as my training started and i started working closely with my boss i realized that he was just a two-faced man who put on a smile in front of his higher-ups but with his juniors he would behave stuck up and it seemed like he had some sort of special grudge against me he would nitpick everything i did and he gave me orders to do extra work every day he treated me like a slave the whole time i was in the office sometimes i would have to work overtime if he didn't like the way i'd completed the tasks in short he was making my life living hell i don't know what he wanted maybe he thought i would just give up and quit but i needed this job so there was no way i could do that somehow a few months passed like this and when our boss realized that i wasn't going to leave my position he started using other tricks to torment me one day as soon as i arrived at the office he continued to hurl insults at me he called me ugly duckling in front of the others and i had to silently take it all in it was the worst kind of torture everyone in the office used to laugh at me or whisper behind my back because of what my manager would do one day he called me into his office and asked me if i could recommend someone to him for the intern position i frowned why was he asking me he could simply post an ad online or get people to apply he definitely had a motive i was about to say no when i suddenly remembered something my best friend thea had told me a few days ago that she was looking for a job i didn't want to recommend her because i was afraid that she would be mistreated too but she seemed desperate so i told the boss about thea and he gave me a fake smile asking for her email ugh i hope i wasn't making a mistake by recommending thea one thing was good as soon as thea joined i was worried for her but apparently the boss was treating her better than expected this came with the downside he started treating me even worse than before now he was comparing me to thea all the time i'm surprised that you have such a pretty friend he said given your face i wasn't really that confident but i guess you proved useful for once i scoffed why sir are people in this company hired based on their looks he was speechless for a second before he started laughing they are not but that should be the criteria because people like you drive away our customers wow just when i thought he couldn't fall any lower i understood his plan over the next few days he was slowly preparing thea to take over my position he used to compare us all the time and never once scolded thea for any mistakes meanwhile i was scolded all the time over things that i didn't even do i thought that thea would understand me and would be on my side but this is what she said to me one day well the boss is kinda right you aren't pretty enough for this job and even after working here for so long you haven't learned anything that's when i knew it she was the same she wasn't my best friend but a fake friend who betrayed me i shook my head at her you think you've learned everything i already know that the boss has been assigning others to do your work while you laze around all day inside his office her eyes widened and she gasped i smiled at her don't worry i won't tell anyone for the sake of that time when i thought you were my friend and with that i walked away from her i had no intention of screwing her over after all it was the boss who had planned everything what thea did was none of my business but what happened next was something i'd never expected i literally walked in on thea and the boss making out in his office i just wanted to give him some files but man wow they had a talent of rendering people speechless and the astonishing thing was that they didn't even look ashamed thea gave me an annoyed look you have the worst timing the boss shook his head don't worry theo she won't be here for long what i exclaimed what do you mean he smirked well i sent a review regarding your performance to the ceo i'm sure you're getting fired by the end of the day but thanks to you we have thea to take over your position i dropped the files on his desk and turned around to leave i didn't even have the energy to argue with him or yell at him this was what he wanted from the beginning theo ran after me and grabbed my hand and i started packing my things to leave i wanted to thank you she gave me a sickly sweet smile because of you i got a chance to seduce the manager and take your place you know i was always rejected by other companies because they thought i wasn't good enough but this place is just amazing i'm sure you'll find another job soon laurel so don't be too mad at me okay i just did what i had to do to make a living was she for real i shoved her away and got out of there as soon as i could i felt so pathetic i was fired from a nice job just because the boss hated me and my best friend wanted to take my place moreover i had stopped receiving my salary three months ago and my rent was due the landlord was threatening to kick me out could it get any worse i clenched my fists this was so unfair i didn't even do anything wrong i couldn't let them get away with this i stayed up all night to think of ways to expose the two of them this was the only way i could be satisfied the next day the first thing i did was book a cab to my manager's house when he opened the door and saw me standing there his expression was almost comical i pushed him out of the way and made my way inside to his study thank god i was familiar with a few things about him hey what the hell are you doing he yelled after me i'll call the police do it i said calmly but just remember that i will take you down with me you can call the cops if you want me to leak you in this photos what he asked horrified you're lying how do you have our photos if you think i'm lying then you can call the cops i told him he went completely quiet and i grabbed his wallet from a drawer and took out my three-month salary i'm just here for my salary i told him you know i could also sue you for not paying me right the expression on his face made me smirk and i walked out after i got my money he was such an idiot of course i didn't have the photos but i was going to have them soon enough i had already asked the guy who operated the cctv cameras to help me out apparently the manager used to look down on him all the time and wanted him gone too that's why he instantly agreed to provide me with the footage where the manager and thea could be seen together but i wasn't planning on leaking those photos only one person needed to know after i got the footage from him i sent an email to the ceo along with a list of unfair treatment that had happened to me in the office i wrote in my email how i got thea the job and she was seducing the manager and as i'd expected the next day i heard news of the manager anthea getting fired i also got a call they wanted to rehire me but this time my work was going to be recognized so i was promoted to the position of manager i walked into the office the next day to find thea and my ex-manager with their heads down walking out of the office with their things i scoffed and walked past them to sit down at my new desk so boss i called out mockingly how do i look now pretty enough to be the manager he hung his head low in shame and thea looked up to glare at me but swallowed her words and that is how i got back at the people who tried to ruin my life
