hi i'm brian and i'm 23 years old today i'll tell you how i quit my job to go on my first solo trip which landed me in an abandoned and scary all-girls hostel but before i tell you my story please was as if fate was conspiring to give me an answer to this question one day while going back home from the office i met my old friend jacob jacob and i studied together in school and used to be really good friends sadly we lost touch as we moved to different cities after passing out from school jacob and i decided to go to a bar and have a drink together he asked me what i do and i told him about my job and how i wasn't very happy with it despite making lots of money he started smiling and said one year ago i was in the same boat as you that's when i quit my job i asked him did that work out photographer he clicks pictures while traveling and sells them to magazines for a lot of money i couldn't believe such jobs existed as well frankly i was jealous of him here i was sitting on a chair all day in front of a computer and then there was jacob traveling the world meeting new people doing new things and still making good money we said goodbye to each other but i couldn't get his story out of my mind my job and life looked even worse after talking to him so i decided even i'll quit my job and travel for a while i had enough savings and could live comfortably for a while even if i didn't earn then if i can earn money while traveling by writing blogs or clicking pictures i'll become a full-time traveler otherwise i'll come back home after my trip ends and will take up a new job i told this to my boss and he got really sad he genuinely liked me and thought that i'd do well in his company but he didn't want to stop me from exploring other opportunities for myself and let me quit the job while serving my notice period i started making my bookings for europe i decided i'll begin my trip from spain and then travel from there to france italy and germany i texted jacob and told him as well about my travel plans he was really happy that i found the courage to quit my job and go on this exciting journey he called me and said i'm really happy for you buddy you'll have a great time also don't forget to check out the venus hostel in spain that's the best place to stay as soon as he disconnected the call i searched venus hostel online but sadly there wasn't a lot of information about the hostel i found this to be strange finally i found something about the hostile on a traveler's forum it was from a guy named dane who had written that the hostel was really creepy and nobody should go there i was in two minds now how can there be two polar opposite reviews about the same hostile i decided to ignore the online reviewer after all jacob was a serious traveler and i was sure anything he recommends would be fun any case people write anything online these days none of these reviewers can be trusted i took the number of the hostel from jacob and made the booking in a few days the date of my travel arrived i was really excited about this trip i was going to see new places meet new people and do all the things that people dream of doing i took the flight and then a few hours landed in madrid i really liked the vibe of the city it was refreshing and totally different from anything i had seen back home i stopped a taxi and told him i want to go to venus hostel can you please take me there he got afraid and immediately drove away i wondered what i did to get such a reaction from him perhaps he didn't like foreigners i ignored it and decided to stop another taxi i told him the same thing that i wanted to go to venus hostel he said are you mad nobody should go to that place i asked him why he ignored my question and drove away now things were getting really weird why would he say such things about a hostile jacob said so many good things about finally after getting rejected by a lot of taxi drivers a young driver decided to take me there he had recently moved to spain from poland and had no idea about the hostel he was willing to go wherever i asked him as long as i was paying after a half an hour drive we reached the hostel but it looks like an abandoned building from the outside i thought nobody lives here anymore and this is why it is in such bad condition i asked the driver are you sure you've got me to the right place he replied yeah this is the address you gave me i looked at the hostel it didn't look like the kind of place anyone would want to stay but it was getting dark and i needed a place to spend the night i decided if it's really bad i'll move to another hostel tomorrow i paid the driver and walked towards the hostel there was a young girl sitting at the reception i told her that i needed a dorm for the night and she looked towards me with surprise i asked her what happened she said nothing just that after a long time i'm seeing a man in this hostel i asked her is this a girl's hostel she said no not at all just that foreign men don't find this place very enjoyable i hope you have a good time though she pointed in the direction of my dorm and asked me to have a pleasant stay till now my experience there had been pretty weird i just hoped the dorms were comfortable but when i opened the dorm i received the shock of my life all the beds were occupied by women they were sitting in their night suits and weren't expecting anyone when i walked in i quickly closed the door and went to the reception i told the girl there are you sure this is the right room there are only girls inside she smiled and said i told you sir foreign men don't have a very comfortable time here i wondered why they would be the girls inside the room seemed to be harmless i went back inside the room and took a vacant bed in the corner of the room one of the girls in the room walked to me and said hi my name is melissa how are you i told her i'm great she seems like a nice girl i asked her where are you from she said madrid this was quite strange that was quite strange if she was from madrid why was she staying in a hostel and not in an apartment i asked her the same question and she told me the police won't let me i didn't get what she was saying i asked her why is that she said because they're looking for me i have a criminal case against me i was shocked i wasn't inside an abandoned hostel with a criminal i didn't know what crime she had committed but it must have been something serious i could tell from the look in her eyes she then came close to me and held my hand i want to escape this country so that the police stopped chasing me will you marry me and take me to your country this was quite a weird request we had met just five minutes ago and now she wanted to marry me then another girl came to me and pushed her away no he will not marry you he will marry me and take me home with him even i want to run away from the police i asked her are you a criminal as well she started laughing and said don't you know stupid every girl in this hostel is a criminal that's why we stay in this abandoned building away from all the attention then i looked at all the other girls in the room they were all looking towards me and smiling i couldn't believe that all of them had committed some pretty serious crimes that's why they were here i was feeling afraid for myself now and felt like a fool that i came to this place i took my bag and decided to leave that's when melissa locked the door she said you can't leave any foreign man who comes to this hostel can't leave without marrying one of us now i understood why foreign men don't like coming to this place i moved away from the door and started getting worried about my safety that's when all these girls started walking towards me all of them were chanting marry me marry me i didn't know what to do i was stuck in this room with nowhere to escape these women won't let me leave that's when i saw a window behind me it was open but i knew jumping outside wouldn't be easy as we were on the first floor i wish i had any other choice though these girls were all walking towards me like zombies having nothing but marriage on their minds i had to risk getting hurt i gathered all my courage and jumped out the window the girls couldn't believe what i had done luckily despite getting a few bruises i didn't break any bones melissa shouted let's go outside and catch him all the girls ran towards the door to come after me i started running away luckily i found a taxi driver on the road i told him i'll give you a very high tip just take me to the airport immediately he agreed i sat in the car the girls saw this and started running after the taxi luckily i was able to escape them after this bad experience i booked my tickets for america and decided to go back home immediately cancelling all my travel plans my first solo trip turned out to be a nightmare i'd rather stay in an office all day than inside an abandoned all-girls hostel with criminals
