i am channeling all of spring today hoping it'll give me the energy this early morning to film this video hi ola merhaba and welcome to books with newer hello friends i hope you are well and i hope you're having a wonderful start to spring today's video is gonna be my april tbr it'll also be the tbr for the first half of the month of ramadan if you didn't know what ramadan is it is a fasting month for most muslims around the world so this will be a very busy month for me meaning that this is quite the ambitious tbr all things considered there are 14 books i believe on this tbr so let's just jump into it fingers crossed i can get through all of these books by the end of the month the first book i wanted to talk about today is my classic pick for the month and that is the prophet by khalil gibran this feels like the perfect fig for this month because it is a collection of essays translated from the arabic and now that i'm thinking about it i probably could have read the original work but i have this gorgeous edition from penguin translated into english so this is what i'm gonna read but basically this is a collection of 28 essays on spirituality philosophy and above all they are supposed to be really inspirational so no better time to read it than now but i'm hoping to get to one essay per day for the rest of the month the next book i am planning to read this month is macbeth by william shakespeare this is a play that i honestly don't know much about which is surprising considering this is one of shakespeare's most influential and famous plays but all i know is that it is a tragedy and that it might be a cautionary tale about seeking power for the sake of power i am very excited to jump into this i am a huge shakespeare fan i have loved absolutely all of his works that i have read so i'm hoping this is no exception for the month of april i have quite a few videos planned surrounding graphic novels so i'm hoping to read quite a few this month but i thought i would talk you through two that felt perfect for spring with their color schemes of pinks purples and blues the first one i wanted to talk about is sheets by brenna thumbler this basically follows marjorie who's a 13 year old girl running her family's laundry mat and wendler who is a ghost initiates that's pretty much all i know and that's really all i want to know i hear this is a very sweet and heartwarming story which is perfect for a sad spring day the next graphic novel i want to talk about is paper girls by brian k vaughan i love saga by the same author so i wanted to check out some of his other graphic novels to see how i feel about them but this one is often compared to stranger things season one with its ada's nostalgia feel and sci-fi elements so basically we follow a group of four 12 year old girls who deliver newspapers on their bikes as one day they discover otherworldly mysteries this is supposed to be really fun and the art is really really good so i'm very excited to jump into this one the next four books i'm going to talk about are the books that i'm hoping to read in the first half of april the first one i wanted to talk about is the house in the cerulean sea by tj clune this is a fantasy novel and every time i hear it described it is described as pure joy and happiness which i am in dire need of i am so in need of good feelings and wholesomeness but basically this follows two men who take care of orphaned magical children which just feels very spring-like to me for some reason so i'm very excited there is no better time to pick this up and i am hoping i will love this and that will bring a smile to my face the next book i want to talk about is bunny by mona awad this i hear is very very very very weird people either love it or hate it for the sheer bizarreness and it is a dark academia horror so it sounds like my perfect cup of tea i am very excited to see what this is all about the next book i am hoping to read is the un honeymooners by christina lauren this is an enemies to lovers romance with a side of pretend relationship which is incredible because those are like my two favorite tropes of all time and romance and i just eat that stuff up but basically we follow olive and ethan who end up going on their respective siblings honeymoon when everyone at the wedding party gets food poisoning except the two of them they hate each other but then they have to pretend to be in a relationship and i am just so excited for this like i said these are two of my favorite romance tropes and even though i don't read a ton of romance i am very excited to expand my reading horizons the next book i wanted to talk about is the seven husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkins read i'm really hoping to finally pick this up this month i'm quite intimidated by this book i have a feeling that this is going to be an all-time favorite just from the way that people talk about it but i don't know much except that we follow evelyn hugo who is a fictional hollywood starlet recounting her life story to a journalist and i hear there is a sapphic romance that's all i need to know i am very excited to jump into this and a little intimidated hopefully i'm not disappointed when it comes to reading for the month of ramadan i have two goals the first one is to get through the quran throughout the month so that'll be about 20 pages a day which isn't a lot but it definitely will be time consuming considering how many books are on this list and the second is to read more books by muslim authors so for the first half of ramadan i am very excited to binge read an ember in the ashes quartet by salvati here in an ember in the ashes we follow liar and elias lyah is a scholar and a slave and elias is a soldier neither is free in the martial empire descent is seen as a crime worthy of death but when lyah's brother is arrested for treason she must work with the rebels to spy on the empire at the empire's greatest military academy there she meets elias the academy's best soldier but secretly it's most unwilling and together they will realize that their destinies are intertwined and that their choices will alter the empire's fate entirely i am very excited to jump into this i have heard nothing but great things about this quartet as a whole so i can't wait to read more books by muslim authors i have a lot of exciting videos planned for the month of ramadan including a bunch of vlogs so if you are interested make sure to subscribe and hit that bell button so you will be notified whenever i upload new videos i upload tuesdays fridays and sundays if you like this video remember to give it a thumbs up and put a heart down below so i know you were here until the next one bye
