one of the most important aspects of reaching your top damage output in Lost dark is this term that's thrown around a lot uptime but what is up time for a new player and how can we use things like super armor to cheat a bit of extra damage increasing our damage standings in the raid we'll get into all that and more but first welcome to the video this is part of my ongoing series of tips and tricks for the average and newer players to Lost dark who likely aren't privy yet to these basic fundamentals of combat but are looking to improve and to perform better as a quote unquote lost AR vet here are my credentials I'm creating these videos to help get this harder to find information about the game to the average and newer players so they don't have to wait like I did to learn it let's not waste any more time and get into it so what is uptime the simplest way to explain this is when you go to trixon and you do your damage rotation on that stationary boss the damage you output is essentially your perfect scenario minus things like synergies from party mates and the massive DPS Buffs from supports this window of damage encapsulates the ability to perform the perfect rotation and never missing thus creating a ceiling of damage for yourself this is the number in which you strive to achieve on PVE content outside of trixon but this content doesn't just let you hit it it attacks back and typically has phases where it goes Invincible gone or in a state of damage reduction this makes it almost impossible to hit the ceiling but uptime is basically describing your ability to maintain the perfect rotation of skills and damage to get as close as you can to your available ceiling reminder ceilings differ per class gearing and Boss ar raid like gate 2 vaulton versus something like Gate 3 clown differ a lot typically hard mode vaulton runs only break one set of armor so vaulton constantly has a variable of Dr throughout the fight and the ghost phase has him losing Dr over time while clown has a lot of phasing that you can't really avoid like saws hooks Marios and Showtime and has a strong factor of Dr impos once you hit 90 bars before Showtime then if we compare a class that is a constant attacker like a swiftness class with let's say a br 19 weapon versus a burst class with let's say an Aon 19 weapon depending on the scenarios of course you will get very different ceilings for your damage so hopefully this term ceiling makes a bit more sense now when it's mentioned now bring us back to the idea of uptime most of the time the only way to get better up time is with practice and experience with raids whether you studi the videos prior to get a lock on basic patterns or you just get the Reps in in muscle memory for timings this is most of what it takes to increase your up time so that you can use the damage window you are given to optimize your rotation for best output on that content but there's one small piece to this that someone like me who doesn't come from an MMO or a PVP background took a long time to piece together that's super armor and its effects on PVE content if you hover over your skills the little blurb shows a lot of information but in this case we're specifically looking at the ones that mentioned push immunity paralysis immunity and Status ailment immunity you will notice right away that some of the moves have no mention of either so what does this mean exactly if you've ever done any form of PVP content in the game you will know that a basic attack will stagger a character for like half a second characters with repetitive multi-hit moves moves become annoying because the Stagger now is extended now how does this translate to PVE any moves that don't have any form of super armor once again none that have any of these words mentioned can be interrupted by any form of attack so why is there an important to know which one has no super armor and which one's at least have level one super armor first off a lot of these attacks that have no super armor typically are Synergy skills and more selfishly self- buffing skills in the case of the Berserker its red dust provides 33% self crit and a 6% damage boost to itself and the party this is what they call the Red Dust window as this self buff is only 6 seconds in duration but the only way for the Buffs to proc is for the red dust to land on the boss Red Dust doesn't have any super armor and if the boss does anything in the berserker's direction while this is happening it will be cancelled missing out on the giant crit chance and damage increase with it similarly War dancer also has something in the same vein a majority of its crit and attack power comes from two moves that they throw before their damage cycle a Ro of Courage for crit chance for itself and the party and winds whisper for a massive amount of attack power for itself and movement and attack speed for the party these also don't have any super armor so when staggered while throwing them they receive none of the benefits and they will take an even bigger hit on damage output due to this blunder so assessing which skills in your rotation have no super armor is just as important as knowing which ones have some of the higher tiers as this can really affect your damage rotation especially if they are self buffing your attack window you'll find that most of your attacks will have at least level one super armor and at this level of super armor you will need to know the battle and basic patterns to know when you can utilize its paralysis immunity for optimal usages if the hit staggers then using a skill with this level one super armor will allow you to fight through it instead of stopping you mid move it won't negate the damage but using it to maintain in the fight is the idea that we want to use here a great example of illustrating super armors is gate three of BR shazza in this example will specifically taken a look at the basic pattern that has the wave of yellow that pushes out of the cube and fills the entire circle of the battle arena it will eventually depending on if you're on normal or hard variations send out a blast that pushes you back notably not throwing here where your character is still standing and isn't laying on the ground in any form of stun I'm making this distinction as level two is called push immune but that is specifically for moves that throw your character in some fashion onto their back because in this example your character isn't thrown and stunned at any capacity just push back if using a move with paralysis immunity with the correct timing you will evade the push and continue fighting through it this is where a fight experience and knowledge comes to play another example on the same gate is the small orbs in the desuta pattern that explode on contact they stagger but they don't throw you notably the pools on the ground will throw you so be careful these do significantly more damage but if you're overleveled you can eat the damage and continue throwing your super armor one skills once again super armor 1 is the one tier of super armor that takes more raid experience or knowledge to fully utilize its usefulness because a majority of your damage moves have it but knowing where to use it and in which situation you can survive through it is where it will shine level two super armor is the one that you can have a lot more fun with any pattern or move that throws your character and they are stunned on the ground can be ignored well the throwing and stunning aspect that is you will still take damage similar to level one having skills with push Immunity on them and that are part of the meta move set is somewhat rare typically you're lucky if you have one a lot of builds will actually defer to a tenacity tripod on a skill rather than a DPS tripod as the net gain of using the skill to bypass a throw will in the end create a bigger damage window thus a higher DPS this reasoning alone shows the importance of knowing which skills have it as they can be used to create these additional damage Windows where you may have been thrown or moved to a safe distance to avoid the throw meaning those affected by the throw will be immobilized for a small window of time whilst you now have an additional damage period to really pad the stats besides the greeting damage side of level two super armor you can actually utilize it as a save as well using gate three of brush shs as an example again the patterns with the red rings looping around the battle arena will throw you back and there many variations in cases where they throw you off the safe zone or Into the Fire to prevent personal or party Stacks you can just use the push immune ability to prevent this throw thus preventing the stacks a more notable example would probably be from gate four of brell let's say you've got some unlucky positioning on one of the two yellow swipes brell does that will typically throw you off the map you can use this ability to actually prevent the throw you will still gain meteor Stacks notably but that's a better outcome than death hopefully seeing now the benefits of level two super armor you can utilize throughout your PVE experiences to not only do more damage but also survive some more mechanics you may be a little uncomfortable with still classes like destroyer and gun Lancer really utilize the super armor level paired with their Shields to fill their front attacking play Styles and is a lot of the reason why they are constantly able to be on the boss the whole entire [Music] fight level three is a bit more obvious because only two things really have it in the game your Awakenings and your space bar basically level three prevents hard CC's like freezes hard stuns Tremors shocks and others like that from affecting you typically one won't hold their Awakenings for moments like this but if it's up it could come in handy as it has all the benefits of level two's push immunity plus more when throwing it the case that will be likely be of more interest is the space bar side of things in the space bar there's a moment of invincibility and if you can time that right with the stun or push you can ignore it and just continue fighting through this is very similar to level one where practice will make perfect knowing the timings of when to use allows the skill to flourish there's a good chance you have already used both The Awakening and space bars level three immunities without fully understanding that's what it was for example it is common place on gate one of vaulton to space bar through the ice fragments and immune the freeze and if you're a nightmare class you're probably used to running into a fight and throwing your ultimate without ever getting pushed Min animation the power of level three is truly in its space bar and if you can Master the timings of the immunity in the space bar with the hit from the boss you will level up your damage plenty just from that alone I really hope my examples have made sense and you can see after going through each level of super armor in the game the benefits it could have in achieving better uptime because if uptime is your ability to maintain an optimal rotation while hitting the boss throughout then the ability to immune different levels of pushes stunts and statuses will further help the cause of maintaining your character's ability to stay in the fight at all moments thus getting you close Clos and closer to your ceiling similar to my previous video I just hope a new player finds this video and finds use of it I was never sat down by people and explain these things and their basic descriptions in game are frankly lacking for someone with no prior MMO or PVP experience when Googling the subject answers are typically in regards to the PVP scene and not having this brought back into a PVE perspective made it difficult for me to fully comprehend so ideally with this video I was able to relay some realistic experiences you have witnessed firsthand to help drive home its importance this isn't the first video I've made for novice or newer players to help get them better at fights at a faster Rate Check out my last video regarding the importance of the conviction and judgment ruines and how they are massively misunderstood by the average player base also stay tuned I noticed on my last video people were complaining about how expensive a class like Predator Slayer is when in reality I believe it to be a pretty cheap Class to build so I'll be making a video on how to optimize finding the cheapest 5x3 possible for really any class of you're choosing this is from my personal experiences as I've done this at least 14 times and this doesn't count the upgrading from legendary to Relic to ancient so I'll see you soon
