Mudlarking After A Summer Storm! What TREASURES Did The Mud Reveal?

[Music] [Applause] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] there's lots of pottery around here which is always a good sign piece of pipe stem again good sign i did find a complete pipe bowl here we came here before so there's another one today that looks like it could be a piece of pipe stem oh it's got something on it um not pipe stem pipe bowl it's got something on it though hmm let me try and clean it everything's sort of covered in a lime in a layer of slime oh my goodness no way i believe that is a piece of pipe bulb that has an acorn on it oh wow okay well i am definitely yeah that is what it is isn't it that's an acorn i am definitely going to try and make myself some jewelry out of that a necklace for myself at the end of this film it is an acorn on a pipe bowl what's this next to it oh my gosh that's amazing and i'm almost sort of excited that it's broken because it means i get to make jewelry out of it as you know my love of acorns some more pipes then ah that's a really long piece of pipe stem so yeah oh gosh it's a good start it's a piece of pipes bowl with an acorn on it so i'm going to dremel it and try and make myself a necklace looks like an old thing that is really odd isn't it i like the mystery object i'll take that more pipe oh again that would have had something on it such a shame said another piece of what would have been decorative pipe bowl yes that's a piece of what would have been a kit bite bowl oh okay so this is making me feel like maybe today could be a decorative pipe bowl day just as i've gotten up looking by my feet do you see it do you think it's just going to be modern i think it's probably just a modern penny i see queen elizabeth i think it's probably just a modern penny to take home to cleaning up but i'm pretty sure that's what it is it does make you wonder what's under all this seaweed but there's a lot of very big crabs i don't want to disturb them what's all there though do you see it can you see what i see from up here it's a very obvious recognizable shape mum found one of these in a video not that long ago but i haven't found one in ages and you cannot tell what color is because it's absolutely caked in mud oh it looks like it's in good condition though luckily because we missed this time to the tide i can just wash it here oh i think it's brown [Music] in really good condition look wow it's brown i think it's brown which is always my favorite one it's cool wow okay yeah i know how did you spot a brown it was just that it was obvious so is that what i think it is is it i think it's a bead a white thing it is a bee it's a bead a weird bead that's absolutely tiny bead you did and i found a green bead over there in the mud excellent and just above the bead is that for my glass syringe it's a good hackstone too really odd hagstone look at that this isn't the first one of these that we have found on this beach but it is broken unfortunately but we can still use it wow i reckon that's a leg it's a broken doll's leg broken doll's leg still very good and we can still use it to fix it all some piece of pipe bowl anything on it i think it would have been an rob roab one there's quite a few members of the royal anthem of buffalo hell yeah it was how many pipes there is that would have been a bit appropriate last week a couple of weeks ago football that's a big football i presume it's a football that looks interesting looks like a piece of sponge wear i think it is oh yes that's beautiful sponge wear it's a shame it's not old but this will be a first for us if this is what i think it is is it like a casio huh an old digital watch it says water resist i'm not sure i'm not sure it will work you can buy it in the water a bit too long i'll take it though because it shouldn't be in the water it is a casio that was a complete guess that looks a bit too um shaped i think that might be a uh there might be a little tile it's got like a raised cross on the back it's a little tile might be modern might not be as i was walking along i was like oh there's always a chance there'll be certain things in the most random places and i was like you know it would be nice to find a frozen charlotte and then look what i know no but you know exactly what what the sad thing is don't you oh no oh my goodness yes why why do they always missing their heads the big ones we found little ones without a torso but not a big one with a head but that just goes i was literally just thinking about frozen charlotte's and how they tend to show up in very random places when you're not expecting them and there she is what can i think about goodness is that a coin or is it attached to the thing underneath oh it's a coin okay gently do we think it's a two p feels very thick let me put it in the water what little water there is making a bit muddier let me just look this must be the coin spot that's not a modern one because we don't have a coin that small anymore i think i can just about make out a face so yeah it's not a 5p oh it's at a broken bottle stop yes broken dolls cup another metal roundish thing i hope it's not too windy again so another windy day we've had the hottest weather ever now we've chosen to come on the day what is this oh broken and put it back so no one steps on it okay look at this guy he's enormous i'm not going to get too close because i don't want to scare him should i choose somewhere else to um wash my coins wash these then i have to put you down and i need two hands for this so i take it back i think the little one might be a five pence so i can see elizabeth and not sure what this is yet but this one is intriguing it's really quite thick but i think i'm gonna have to take it home and do some it's like got a lot of build up but i want to do it carefully when we get home so that might be an exciting coin okay i stopped to pick up this button and then i saw another round thing what's that a mount for a piece of jewelry or something it's really windy down well don't know what that is but it looks interesting a lot of bottle bits here this is a nice green neck it's a nice bottlenecks and stuff here's lots of bits of bottle this one has a seam going down all of it so it's not that old but beautiful color and then there's this bottle bottom again with the seam gain a shame a little poison broken round thing looks interesting but it's probably just a base of something top of a bottle or something else huh gosh don't know what that is i can't even tell what it's made out of sorry the camera didn't realize i was zoomed in i don't know what that is it's i can't even tell what it's made out of you wash it it's incredibly light oh i think this might be another bone counter i think it looks like it had sort of something in the middle but then it sort of turned in the middle of it like a bone counter certainly feels light enough to be bone the mud could have dyed it like it stained it this really dark color a mystery find and then i think just under this brick i see a recognizable shape i think it's probably going to be a vulcanite stopper i think it is that oh and it says something unfortunately the tide has gone out now so there is no really there's not really much water left but that looks like that could be an interesting one okay what is that oh mum's found something too i think it's a really scary crowd okay so this is probably nice when i first came down i thought it would be a bottle stop but um i think it's probably just going to be a broken bit of something oh and it's really broken but what an amazing color which you can't really see because of all the mud it looks like it's going to be a beautiful emerald green which will be great for crafts i really want to see what's on this water stop for this it's just mud everywhere it's just mud okay just i just found i came across a really scary crab and i can't thought it found something but it wasn't it was just a big scrub scary crab but now i have found something look what do you think that is oh no it's the dog it's the pug face from the legs we found the body we found and is that the other thing yeah that round thing now i've got i'm holding the camera like around your neck oh it's got a really big ceramic bead oh it's probably of a pole oh yeah like a toilet pole i need to go and clean here okay i really need okay so i was right to be excited about cleaning this vog night it says hanbry buxton cole beltram truman oh truman hanbury buxton and it's got a little eagle on it i think it's an eagle some sort of bird how beautiful is that that might be one of my favorite volcanites i've ever found not heard of it either so it's very exciting is that another one oh that looks like another oh no i thought it was another mysterious metal item but i think it's one of those glass screw bottle tops so that's cool but i can't clean it at the moment i just picked this up because i thought it was a bone but actually i think it's glass what would that possibly have come off as a piece of glass very good for craft and like it's been worn so it's nice and smooth at the top satisfying flute shape and there's some really beautiful piece of glass here oh it's got seashells and seaweed on it and it's a beautiful pink color wow that's amazing oh no they're not the same thing although it's a softness it's not the same color oh crew excellent pieces for craft though is this oh i don't know if that's old or not that old it looks like it could be old it is old it's amazing does it got is it made of elastic though is it elasticated is it nylon maybe it's not old my eyes are terrible okay this is it gets nylon i think it's modern which is a shame this thing i found this jewelry i found yeah but i know but i think it's it's got like i don't think it's old although it looks old i don't think it's old i shall bring it to you oh i think it's got like nylon in between the beads though hasn't it oh it could catch up if it's old i don't know and the the findings look old i'm not sure no i'm not i have to take it and clean it and see i mean they're seed beads aren't they they are and some of them particularly look quite cold look at this beautiful piece of glass it's got seashells and seaweed on it oh my goodness that's pretty good and then this is also glass oh that's a um no it's uh it's a special name it's called something that i can't remember this particular moment you just put like a specimen flower in it oh like a posie yeah but there was another name for it but i'll remember we'll put it below when i remember what it's called that is a what looks really it could be gold or it could have just been in the mud for long but that is half a walnut shell and if you've watched our videos before you know that we these make perfect little frozen charlotte beds there's another vulcanite i wonder if it will be as cool as the last one ah this styling winch maid's turn i think we found one of those here before actually a little jug many dollars worth of gold are in landfills in america because of the tiny amount of gold in phones same within england i guess this was just a report on america so maybe they definitely will be so interesting things i mean this will be broken yep but then what's that ah insulator broken imagine that would have been spectacular what color is clear old glass honestly sometimes i wonder because we would just i said i wanted to find a pipe bowl and then kate said well last time i came here i found two kite bowls and i said i want to find a pipe bowl and then i looked down and i saw this now i imagine it's probably not whole but it looks pretty spectacular anyway no it's half oh but it's half a claw pipe look at that oh there must be more here it's tempting me look oh my god wow oh my gosh it says it says something what's that mean it must be the maker oh that's such a shame look it says creme amber i mean it might have that's definitely the first letter but it might have been another that's such a shame but that would make it it's really good for like a craft or something because it's perfectly in half to look up the name look at this beautiful piece of glass it's all splattery it's beautiful and pipest in the words just flicked this out not thinking it was anything actually wow i think it's the end of a hat pin or oh yeah it is because it's got a hole there so that's just a broken bit but beautiful french jet black glass end of a faceted end of a hat pin that's beautiful should definitely rename this place five stone beach because it's not a fighter because it's not a five stone but there is a knuckle bone which is what they would have originally played the game with [Music] [Music] what do you suppose that is looks like a very beautiful color whatever it is oh my goodness oh it's not got an end whoa okay that's a proper gem that's a jewel i don't suppose i think it's pretty much pretty said it's just glass because of the way that it's chipped and frosted but that is so unbelievably stunning wow what an excellent color i guess maybe a hat pin or finial off some like a piece of glass do you suppose that's a a little bottle or a glass stop oh i don't think it's a little bottle i think it's oh it could be oh oh no i think that's a i think that's a bottle stop oh is it black or is it blue um use one of my footprints i have to clean my hands first and then oh my gosh if this is blue i think that's going to be a first me i don't think i've ever found a blue stopper i've never found a cobalt blue stopper wow oh my goodness and it's like clear look it's a cobalt blue stopper wow i've never seen one like it why is it got a clear bit that is such a wonderful stopper there's no sun so i can't properly show you how bright blue it is look at that yeah and talking of beautiful blue glass things i also found this it's like yeah it's like a diamond shape it's like a cut glass gem i think it's probably a hat pin yeah wow look at the the blue jewels running down my aren't they beautiful i've never found a stopper like that it's stunning yeah do you see it you really can't see it oh my goodness it didn't make me chill oh my god this one's actually got the uh buffalo i'm going to call it a ball oh that's wonderful don't try it sorry this pipe's actually got the balls the buffalo it's a order of the buffalo oh my word oh no my gem gem that is that's brilliant oh my god so my dream has always been to find a cloak pipe with a head on it well there's a clay pipe that is a head that's got a head on it this is a buffalo's head that is amazing that that we took to a windy beach the first time we went it was really raining and it just after a really bad storm so i think that's why kate found so many good things i didn't find quite so many good things but it's kind of odd that i'm doing the roundup because i didn't really find anything but i've got oscar with me and i'm going to ask him what he thinks kate's favorite find would be i you think that's good that's good this is kate's favorite now hold it really still i can't shaky hand i'll do it there we go and this is an roab pipe which is the royal and the diluvian order of the buffalo and it's got a buffalo's face on it and all kate's ever wanted is a pipe with a face on it so it's a buffalo face sorry it's okay um my favorite finds we find iceland it's the dog's head it's the the old favorite i seem to find a lot of these that old house is full of them this is just a much bigger version i'm not sure what to do with him you've got to sneeze again are you no yeah okay but yeah that's my favorite find and then you have to choose what you think what's your favorite find out of all of them probably this what the watch is the casio watch looks like an old digital watch is too close there it is this is okay to find this is an old digital watch and it does say waterproof on it does it still work does it say no what does it sound like it says something about being waterproof stainless steel back water resistance japan it's not very water resistant is it it doesn't it doesn't work anymore i'm not sure that means like being pushed in and out by the tide really deep it's probably water resistant so a certain just slightly ironic but that's your favorite point it's probably collectible they're probably worth a lot of money if it wasn't broken yeah it literally says with water resistant on the floor that's ironic isn't it really um my second favorite find of kate's would be well i'd like the frozen char oh no no not the frozen chocolate would have to be this wouldn't it the blue glass bottle stopper and it's beautiful cobalt blue that was yeah we've never found a blue one we've realized now we find a few green ones but never a blue one i don't it's um not cut glass it's pressed glass molded glass but it's still beautiful and it's ground and it probably would have been off it's a bit small for a decanter i'd say a perfume so that's beautiful um then there's kate's frozen charlotte which was a lovely thing to find i know it's broken but it's good very cute little bottom it's quite detailed it's got no arms it's got no legs it's got a head but i still like this detailed it's got a detailed bottom it's got a little little um pecks what they're called and adult arm last time i went there i found the dolls on this time cake panda dolls on it's definitely the site of an old it's either a dumper rolling out or they dug out a load of rubbish and put it there yeah this is this that's a that's a piece of jewelry that i found that i didn't know if it was old or not but i can't can you see what the thread is in between does it look like plastic does that like nylon is that my focusing rubbish are focusing oh is that focused i can pipe that i found um there's this weird round it's like a giant bead doesn't it yeah but it's not i think it's probably offer pool of something beautifully crazed though okay found this bu another um bone disc i think it's a bone counter it's beautiful it's turned inside it might have had something inside metal or something but it's definitely another bone counter i think it's so dark because of the mud um this piece of a couple of pieces of pottery can you hold this piece i'll hold this piece this piece is like a castle oh you put yours in front of mine there you go split sponge wear and a bit of castle i have a sound sound china please um then with cake fountain pop and it's just a glass bottle stop she found this glass bottle to stop which still has got the rubber in or the metal but it's got a hole all the way through so i don't really understand that would have been a bit of a pretty rubbish bottle stop really unless it had like a rubber insert there um then three volcanites which i have some information on um this one what is this one which one's this one the charmington and kyle i think okay charmington and co charrington charrington charrington brewery uh the company was formed in bethel green in the early 18th century by robert westfield his best know known as the member of the brewers company from 1738 to 1757 this one is much later than that in 1807 they became the second largest breweries in london and then this one that's the truman house truman hambury and buxton there's another london one this is um the black eagle brewery and it's actually got a black eagle in the middle of it this is which is cool it was in spitiful spit up fields brick lane the black eagle brewer was built by thomas buck bucknell in about 8 16 66 but then it was bought by joseph truman in 1679 and was registered in january 1889. so this is probably about this one what does that one say it says dove dove okay and rock rock yeah no it's then next bit smudged out oh i don't know like the bottom of the little house um yeah and then these are the coins that cake found this just shows you how there are not going to be any coins in the future because they just they break down and brought this they were but they were all modern coins unfortunately there's a two how is this modern there's a 10p i think that's a 2p that's what happens to that's what happens to modern coins when they're in the water they just disintegrate there just won't be any record of our coins unless they were slow obviously they're not in the water well well yeah that's true but even in the dirt even in like bottle dumps and things they deteriorate they'll find cor you find ancient coins i know but also these no they're not made of pure metals they've got things in them i know but that's still so they they fall apart really easily it's been like falling apart it would have given it time i doubt it had been in there long all right oh let's check them oh yeah what age is it i can't see i can't um mystery item this week is this i don't know if it's a tile it's terracotta i think but it's glazed on this side which makes me think that this was the side that was up but it's this weird bung like extrusion that i don't really understand and it might be something really interesting i'm just asking in case anybody knows because the last two mystery finds that i've shown you you have identified them and the first one was this one which was a little figure i found on treasure beach mum isn't this just like you know those understandable bits you like you know when they have stones like up in the sides of pavements do you think that's like a victorian one i don't know it's not made out of pavementy things it's like i don't know if it's a tyre but it's weird that it's glazed it's very odd but anyway this is one of the seven japanese gods and he is called fukuro cube joe probably just butchered that but can you pronounce that fukuro yeah and he is the god of happiness riches and longevity which is amazing and the reason i'm so convinced that this is who it is because he's got like these long flappy ears and i was really confused by them but then this god does have long floppy ears this is definitely who it is that's amazing it's absolutely amazing i never thought i'd know and then this one this was a a previous um mystery vines and this is a spindle well and they a spindle well they would have used to spin wool into thread like rough wool off a sheep and then spinned it into thread this would have waited the end of it it would have spun like that why is it so like because i think it's made of stone it's made of stone it's very roughly someone made that as a spindle they decorated the edges it's got like a line but i don't know how old that is we've asked the flow we're waiting on an answer so like i say so sometimes the mystery things can be really exciting so i'm intrigued to know what you make of this one i always liked the mystery um i think that's it
