Iā€™m gonna need to a see a list of features between the MPC Live and this because the MPC live second hand is about the same price. However I like this form factor a lot.

I'm curious as to how the workflow compares to the MPC1000 with JJOS. Like I bought and refurbished an mpc1000 about a year ago and it it the central sequencer to my setup.

I like how this thing can be a usb host (opens up the options for midi controllers). I'm just not sure on how much im gonna miss the faders and the extra outputs

I own the X and the Live and I can see where this would be a gem for those getting back into the MPC groove. The lack of a rechargeable battery and no expandable drive is a killer for me personally. I keep all my drums and other wav sounds readily available on my internal ssd. I have learned to accept the trimmed down work flow from the X to the Live, but anything else would lose the MPC feeling to me. Working from the micro SD for me is simply saving a project and moving to the X upon arriving to my lab. To be dependent on the micro SD to save projects and such can only be disasterous after a couple years when something goes wrong with that flimsy card. I would have been more excited had they had slimmed it up in place of having an internal drive. Flattened the buttons even. I would have been thrilled if they made it about as slim as the MPC studio but kept the touch screen. If you are jumping from the XL or the 5000, you will have to unlearn some of the work flow elements that you are used to. It's still very much alive in the X and achievable in the live with some good muscle memory. The one sounds like it will be even more streamlined. The keypad layout seems more tempting though. I have always banged out with my right hand and work flowed with my left. The live made me mad at first with keeping the pads on the left side, but I learned to adjust. Not as inconvenient as it seemed once I got used to it. I'm not upset with the lack of ports in the back due to the fact that my X is used to fine tune things due to the accessibility of features on board. $699 is pretty good for a price point if you are coming back to Akai with the goal or purchasing a X at some point. Anyone who is looking for true portability with maximum features, the Live is where it's at. The One sounds good on paper but I have to get my hands on it to really judge.

look at the brand new MPC 1 now the first thing you'll notice about MPC one is this 7 inch high-definition multi-gesture touch screen this is the same screen that's featured on MPC live now as we use touch on a daily basis I can swipe across the screen I can change my velocity levels or notes instantly if I want to edit a sample I can simply take my finger and drag the start and end points just by a touch and swipe at the screen we can zoom in and out of samples accurately which makes editing a breeze we've also added function buttons for all of the key workflow parameters such as no-repeat 16 levels browsing samples grid mode and notes quantize and much more your also notice the 16 iconic MPC pads which are full velocity sensitive with RGB support allowing you to color the pads to your own liking you can access all pad banks a through 2h directly from the hardware we also have four touch capacitive controllers across four banks allowing you to control all of your parameters in real time you also have up to eight cvj outputs for connecting all of your modular racks so making beats inside NPC one is a real fast and creative workflow because you're not tethered to a computer so let's dive in and have a closer look now the first thing I want to do is access my sounds so you press browser and now this takes us to the Embassy one factory library content now if we select our drum kit icon we can now see all of the kits inside the library now the new library has everything from classic drum machines to modern hip hop old school [Music] to modern-day an automobile trap now to load a clip press our load tap and now this is in MPC ones memory so now to make a beat we're going to select a kit from one of the kits we've loaded turn on our quantize to make sure everything's in time we recording our beat to our sequence and our tempo is 107 now let's start with them a lot example hit record MPC will loop automatically and would turn on our metronome now let's add the kick and snare we're now going to record our high hats by using MPC's note repeat by holding down the pad and the notes will synchronize to our tempo MPC 1 also has a grid editor so you can view all of your notes simply hit shift and grid now let's double up our hi-hat rolls using no repeat and changing the time division and we can double again now to erase any of our notes simply hold down the erase button and the pad and then release you can also achieve this using the toolbar and selecting the eraser we can also draw notes on the grid by using our pencil icon we can also move notes off the grid by using don't snap select in the notes and then using our data will move in the notes left and right this will loosen up your be taking me off the quantize now we also have 16 levels which will dramatically retune we pitch your sound across all 16 pads as I play the pads the velocity has louder and when we select tune in they will be reached across the pads this is great for 808 and trap high hats MPC won features three powerful plug-in instruments and a collection of salvo bass instruments for instant production let's have a closer look this is tube synth which emulates the vintage to apply some great textures to your productions now to enter notes mode hold down shift and press notes we can now see our scale we can change the octave and we can play chord progressions now I'm using the f9 instrument expansion that comes with MPC 1 to drive all of these sounds in our courts and scales mode now we're going to make a track from scratch they were laying our chords down [Music] once you've at our ports we're gonna add some melody I'll select in another track I'm gonna use our scale mode now this is recorded and select another track and we're gonna add a bass line underneath our production now our baselines finished we'll add some LOFAR piano to finish off our B and all these sounds are directly coming from the f9 instrument expansion NPC one features a very powerful step start and now let's select our clap and add this to our sequence now we'll add some high hats and we're going to use to touch you why to add velocity curves you can see how fast this makes programming when you're creating dynamics now let's add them a lot example go to our next bar and we add our open hats and now let's add a row of high hats using our touch UI [Music] and then we'll finish off using kit to add some textures over the top sampling is a real fun and creative way to capture ideas and performances that you can add to your productions let's play our B we hit sampler start our
