MPC ONE Drum Breaks and Dark Sample Flip

[Music] right next to me I have a record that I'm going to sample into the MPC and uh This Record is uh very old and it just has this like very old sound that I want to call up some drum braks to put this sample on top of and I feel like drum braks this is where they Shine for me when I find records like what we're about to hear right now that has a lot of dirt it's very old and one shot sometimes sound a little too clean for something like this and we'll hear it right now once we start sampling it I I'm going to go through and just dig up some drum brakes that have a lot of air in between each hit well not just any drum break but uh right here I'm at actually going to go through and actually just start digging through the drum brakes right here I'm going to go into my browser and if I jump into my browser I have these folders right here with AJ Hall AJ Hall if you have not heard of him uh he creates drum break sample packs and they are nothing like anything else that I've heard uh I'll tell you this right now since I first ran into his sample packs and I'll tell you right now none of them Miss and now keep in mind when it comes down to drum brakes there's so many ways you could chop up a drum break and reorganize it re sequence it in your groove but also the sound quality of a drum break you could never recreate with one shot and that is the way it was recorded the atmosphere that you'll hear in between each s or each shot that is hit that right there that's where the beauty shines especially for sample chops that we toss on top of now I don't want to talk too much let's actually dive in and just listen to some of these drum breaks that he has right here and another thing that I I want to just say really quick is if you go to drum break the Slow Burn volume two if you jump into this folder you'll have one shots which he has and then you have drum brakes and then you have the raw stems which will give you the individual raw stems if you later on want to mix it I one I like like this right here and this is at 881 beats per minute I'm going to go to my main page and put this at 81 beats per minute when it comes down to drum brakes I like to just lay this down and put it on my sequence I'm going to make this four bars and let's lay that down there you go it's something on the grid and now I'm ready to start chopping something up now before I start sampling like about it so let's go ahead and just start chopping this [Music] up all right let's convert that and let's jump into track number [Music] two going to our program editor I want to drop this about three semmit tones God God no no oh man okay okay I I man let me crank this up I got to put up the volume I'm sorry all it takes is like 1 second for just this instant connection I don't know if I'm the only one but [Music] God [Music] man okay so now you see how the the break and the sample just Blends so good like there's no mix right here I have not put any plugins I'm not jumping into a deep mix but when it's dirty samples and drum breaks oh man it's it's rare that it does not work so I'm going to go ahead and record something right here cuz this just sounds so good now notice with my chops I can go any direction I can play around with any Melody that I want but I'm really liking how this [Music] sounds [Music] woo [Music] a double length this so now is going to be eight bars I'm going go ahead and do a little switch up after every fourth bar [Music] so [Music] God yeah and just like that I'm not even going to stop it I'm actually going to jump into track number three and in track number three I already have a baseline queued [Music] up oh [Music] [Music] God so it's so so awesome how it just Blends together and I'm actually glad this is is blending very well because drums sample and bass the three main elements I mean yes you could add so much to this go ahead and do so but I want to stop right here I want to stop right here because I feel I I feel something and I think that's very important I want to pay attention to what I'm feeling I don't want to overdo it um just with this alone I can play with just so many different [Music] elements wooo [Music] yeah I'm so happy you know what I I I I feel so grateful I'm I'm so happy to film these videos cuz this joy that I feel ither look ridiculous on camera but I don't care like this feels awesome that's why there's not alwayss do I land with drum brakes uh and a sample but there's just certain samples and sometimes you know you try to put one shots on top of a sample and it just does not Blend or the one shots sound too clean or they're cutting way too much through the sample and the sample's a little dirty switch it up uh grab a drum Brak and toss it right on top of that and I guarantee you it's probably going to sound better than the one shot now as you can see with this video right here I wanted to stick just with the NPC I'm not doing no uh on my master Channel there's nothing going on right here I don't have my SP 404 what you're hearing is straight out just the mpc1 directly to you because I wanted to show the power of having two uh elements and actually three my drums sample and Bas and mixing not so much with compression cuz yes that does sound great I could bring in my SP P 404 and add a certain texture to it which does sound great but right here I wanted to show what we can do by blending these three elements together and using that to mix also as you're producing your track now as you can see my latest videos I'm rocking with the mpc1 I love my live I do have my live right there that we're going to take out in further videos but right now I'm just rocking the npc1 because it's not about having uh the most expensive sampler that's going to make your music
