Mowing with the Toro & Hauling Manure

hey guys today's another beautiful day you can see the grass is starting to grow a little bit so i'm hoping this afternoon we can get that toro mower out and use it for the first time the other thing going on is we have custom manure haulers that are going to be showing up soon we're going to open up this pit once they get here yesterday was a nice calm day so i went and sprayed all of our cover crops that we wanted to get rid of for the first round of corn planting pretty much told them whenever they can get to it and the ground's dry we should hold an ore before the month of may i guess we're ready to run this toro mower i'm gonna let dad do the honors of moe in the first yard try to fire it up go ahead [Applause] pretty fast mower [Applause] grass is a little spotty but it's definitely growing [Music] [Applause] got a nice even cut [Applause] i think dad's having fun it looks like it's working pretty good we'll get this guy set up now to paul manure they got homemade manure pumps with big engines on them he's going to back over to this pit now i got to get this lit off this has been a major trouble spot for us in the past but last fall we spent a lot of time getting this loosened up we got a pit under the whole freestyle barn out there then there's a slim about 12 foot wide section that comes this way you always get a buildup of dry stuff that doesn't want to break up we're going to try and take out of this pit every six months and draw that liquid through and keep it cleared out looks like he's gonna be able to pump this time last time we had to add a bunch of water he's running his agitator now these things are beasts it's a 7 300 gallon tank they're setting up two pumps you got one set up at that corner and then one over here [Applause] so we used to do all this hauling ourselves and we started paying these guys to come in and we like them for a couple reasons one thing is they agitate the pit a lot better it also saves us a lot of hours of driving around so it's kind of worth it got this front yard mode looks good this is a toro titan max toro sent us this mower to try it and i'll have to do a review on it after we use it a bunch more well i guess i'll mow some more yard [Music] [Music] that was some tall thick grass there [Music] i'm mowing around the bunk now this is about the steepest slope that we mow [Music] something just stopped 99 sure we're out of fuel i have not checked the fuel since we got it we probably didn't have too much in there when it came so i gotta get a gas can but if you look at this manure they've hold five or eight loads out of here i'd say by now and it's pulled liquid from the other end you can see how much they're able to stir it up now we run stuff out of fuel way too often around here let's see if that fixed the problem [Applause] i just mowed for about half an hour 45 minutes i'll give you my first thoughts on the machine so the good things uh it's fast controls are pretty smooth gets around really quickly it has plenty of power big enough engine i was able to go through some taller grass pretty quickly and it mowed it nice and even it helps having a brand new set of blades and i like the cutting height adjustments when you're going from yard to yard you lift it up like this and then when you want to drop it down you just have to push there with your foot lift this lock up drops down to wherever you have it set all you have to do is lift it up pull this little magnetic pin out drop it in so if you want five inches even or you can hold it down to one and a half inches if i want to do a golf course but that's really easy and accurate to adjust so downsides it's a little rough riding especially when you're going full speed through a bumpy yard uh you have to just slow down a little bit and maybe i can take some air out of the back tires i don't know if they're they don't seem like they're too overly inflated and the other downside is it uses fuel i was hoping it would just run forever without fuel learned that one the hard way having the mower underneath you is a little different feeling than what i'm used to we run this grasshopper with the mower out front and you can reach under things a little better this one's definitely a shorter unit you can fit in tighter spaces don't worry about your tail end sticking out so far i'm not going to compare these two mowers too closely because the list price on this one's about half of what the grasshopper is so it's not really an equal comparison it was a good first run i think my dad liked it too my dad took the mower again you wanted to keep using it i might shoot a couple hoops and then grab my drone and go film them hauling a little bit manure i look like johnny that's nine feet 10 foot's right there i'm not going to change it see if i can dunk it my vert's feeling pretty good today key is getting a grip if i can palm this thing [Music] i give up time to lower the rim drew timmy is six ten and i'm only five ten so it's only fair that i lower it down to nine feet i'm heading over to the farm they're spreading that now just gonna get a little bit of drone footage the home farm is across the field you probably can't see it it was a straight line we had a nice lane from there it'd be not too bad of a drive problem is we have to go out to the main road to get back to this area they have three rigs running right now going to a couple different places but the one guy is coming over to the farm we call the quarry farm last spring we did triticale with this farm and then planted soybeans straight into that i just sprayed this yesterday this is all going to die we'll be ready to plant corn beginning of may probably we don't like to plant corn too early want to make
