objectively the best version of the big Phantom song, with Floor Jansen from Nightwish, she nails every single note (together with Henk Poort) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plCScjvDOJM

I mean is there anyone alive who doesn't want the metal version of this

Omg my favourite movie as a kid. I had to grow up to see how problematic the relationships were

One of my favorite musicals! Honestly surprised you guys didn't make a Twilight reference. A naive girl, torn between two manipulative men...one is a much older murderer...it was right there fellas!

OMG Jono I freaking LOOOVVVE Xanadu! And wait a minute you were in SYNDEY! I’m in Sydney … I’m a little sad now.

Also Alan as a true blue Aussie, you or Raoul do not have a mullet. You both indeed have a mane.

And I agree Gerald was completely the incorrect chose for Phantom just because he lacked the required singing ability. I think Hugh would have been AMAZING and Christine’s actress was so impressive.

Now that they’ve done Phantom I would love to see them do the sequel Love Never Dies and compare how the couples change

According to IMDB:

“At one point, Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway were considered for the roles of the Phantom and Christine respectively. Due to prior commitments, neither could participate (the former in Van Helsing (2004) and the latter in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004)). However, they would both go on to be cast in lead roles in another musical adaptation, Les Misérables (2012).”

This is the movie that got me into musical theatre! Back then I didn’t get why Christine kissed Phantom at all. It wasn’t until I was older and discovered the 25th anniversary ver that I realised how problematic everything is smh… also Patrick Wilson’s Raoul is very different from Hadley Fraser’s Raoul, to me Hadley Fraser’s made more sense in the plot

Loved the video and discussion in it, always insightful watching these two discuss human character and cinematic arts. Delightful from start to end 😁 If we're already in musical territory, I think these 2 musicals might be interesting to cover that touch on similar subjects as in Phantom of the Opera (if they have a movie version, which now that I think about it, might not be the case 😔) - The Laughing Man (main character has a physical attribute in his face, making him a laughing stock of society, his rise to fame but without real connection) and Robinson Crusoe (revenge, possessiveness, forgiveness and choice)

I'd love to see them do Rings of Power. I mean, what is going on with Galadriel and Halbrand? Just tell us, Jono!
