you and lord we just thank you for another day god you didn't have to do it but we just want to say thank you god you kept us safe from dangerous sin and unseen god thank you lord it could have been us but you kept your hands of protection on our life and for that god we want to say thank you lord we thank you that even though some of us are suffering god some are suffering from bereavement you've lost family members or you lost friends some people have lost things but god even that we say thank you god thank you god that those things that we lost and those people that we lost god you gave us an opportunity to get to know them in the first place so god thank you thank you right now lord god that you're breathing a fresh wind on the sky thank you god that your fire is burning on the inside lord we thank you that we're not no longer lost but god thank you for your salvation god it was because of jesus that we are able to say lord we love you it is because of jesus that we are able to say that nothing nothing shall come against us god we thank you right now for breaking the back of the enemy in the name of jesus god we thank you that he tried to kill us lord but he cannot and so god i even thank you for those who are tuning in those who are just uh god just trusting you for something god i thank you right now in the name of jesus that those that are hurting in their bodies god i thank you that you are a healer god i thank you that you are removing the pain god even thank you for those that are struggling mentally god i thank you right now in the name of jesus that what the enemy thought he was going to accomplish that he shall not accomplish god i thank you god that you give us peace god the peace that passes all understanding the pieces sometimes don't make sense in the middle of the storm the peace that sometimes lord god we don't know where to turn but we can look to the hills from whence comes to our health god thank you god that our help comments from you lord i thank you we don't have to struggle god i thank you lord god that we have a god that is very present god we call you our father lord we call you daddy lord god we call you savior thank you jesus god we thank you god right now for providing god thank you lord god for giving those things lord god that money came by god we thank you for peace god we thank you for joy god we thank you right now lord god in the name of jesus lord god that we're able to open our mouths and say thank you jesus god we will not be silent lord i know the enemy is trying to keep us quiet but we shall give you glory we shall give you honor we shall give you praise even if you think ain't something you even if you don't think it's something that you should praise god for i just want to tell you right now god is good and he is worthy of all the prayers so if you would open your mouth right now just give god the honor in the name of jesus as the enemy even now is trying to frustrate us and trying to keep us from speaking but we shall not be silent god i thank you for moving in our bodies god i thank you for money in our bank accounts god i thank you for not allowing us to struggle god i thank you for keeping the enemy back god i thank you for keeping him under our feet god i thank you he is a defeated foe god i thank you he is a liar and the king of liars but the word of god is true lord i thank you right now in the name of jesus lord god that you woke us up this morning you started us on our way you put us in our right mind you gave us the spirit to want to praise you gave us the spirit to want to say thank you we gave us the spirit to honor us god you gave us a spirit to love lord god unconditionally as you have god we say thank you god we can't thank you enough and lord i just thank you right now god for those who may be struggling trying to make a decision whether or not to receive you god the friends don't understand and if they say jesus and if they pray their friends think they are being superficial but god i thank you right now for silencing the voice of the enemy god i thank you right now for giving those people strength lord god to say yes jesus god i thank you and god i bless you lord i thank you for making a way out of no way god i thank you that the struggle is over god i thank you that right now in the name of jesus your word declares that we can speak those things that are not as though they were so god i thank you for victory in the name of jesus god i thank you for a complete healing in the name of jesus god i thank you for restoring our faith right now in the name of jesus god i thank you that we believe but sometimes we ask you to help our unbelief so right now god i thank you for more faith the faith that surpasses us must've seen god i thank you for life-changing faith god i thank you for faith that would take somebody off of their sick bed and have them walk down the halls of the hospital saying thank you jesus saying i don't know what happened the doctor's looking like they're perplexed but god we know what happened you are a healer you are restored and lord god we just want to say thank you god we bless you we honor you we love you and we just want to give you all the glory and all the praise and all the worship it is because of you god that we are so we love you we thank you we praise you and it is in the name of jesus want to be sensitive to this national issue and bring awareness and to really help our communities break this stigma and to really address mental health so we thank god for our ministry that is name i'm going to tell you why he is one of the most faithful members of our church he's an elder uh of our church awesome man of god he's probably out there in the back somewhere he was at our a15 service he just loves mount zion dearly about six weeks ago many of you may recall in the news there was a stabbing at a walmart and it was on the news and that was his daughter step-daughter who was who was uh stabbed and killed about six or seven weeks ago and we saw him do that last sunday you may recall the altar was filled with so many souls and uh what we were dealing with and praying and believing god for deliverance for the young man and brought by two people behind that young man stood larry's son who he had been praying for because larry's son for 14 years he'd been praying that his son gets saved his son have a relationship with jesus christ and last sunday his son made that decision to accept jesus christ amen that was last sunday we were all here stood right there as a matter of fact a few days before he made that decision i saw him out in nashville he walked up to me and said who do i look like i said you look just like larry powell and then your daddy is going to be your dad of the day because you look just like him well that young man who stood right there gave his life to jesus christ the father of a 14 year old daughter 14 month old daughter rather last night was in us in a gas station here in nashville and was in line getting rid of the pace he checked out and some deranged person attempted to rob him and murdered him and so i want us to pray for larry powell because that was his son and you can only imagine the weight of that but we thank god that he made the best decision of his life last week huh yeah pray for his girlfriend that baby that family we know you're watching and we know it's tough but you got a family here and we love you and we got you covered amen we got you covered i promise you we prayed for larry at 8 15. he was at the service and we're going to continue to pray for his family and pray for him and we'll give you more information about those services and all of that thank god for our team that's already on it i mean really on top of it so we just thank god for uh a loving church this is what love is love is what love does amen and uh that's why it's important to be connected so um we thank god how many folk out [Music] [Applause] [Music] i'm melina jones and we're doing uh the meals on wheels from mount zion it's sponsored by the bethlehem center and mount zion has been doing it over maybe 25 years or so but i've started working in it several several years ago i enjoy helping people and it's fixing meals for the underprivileged people that need to be fed my name is michael redd this is my first year of volunteering this is something i've been wanting to do for several years but my job would not allow me to do it so i said okay i'm retiring i'm gonna come in and see something i want to do and i truly enjoy working with the people back there and getting to know people that i didn't know you know this is a big church and if you don't get in a small group you won't get to know everybody and now when i see them in church i say hey i know these people i'm still saying hi and them don't know their name anything but this has been a blessing for me you know it's something that has been on my heart for several years but i just couldn't do it my name is camilla malone merritt and this like michael is my first year working with meals on wheels and it has been an opportunity which i have been contemplating doing for years but it's like sometimes life just will not allow you to do things when you want to but this has been very rewarding i just think it's important for the members to get involved in ministry at the church you don't have to be in certain you just pick one and if you're busy stick with that and the people who is already in it they make you feel loved when you walk through the door because i was concerned they were going to accept me you know because i had never done anything back there in the kitchen so it's important for them for members to support the church and do god's work and it helps people who is always doing to give them a break so they can hand it over to someone else to help out and to piggyback on what michael just said this church is quite large and so in order for you to really get to know the members by you joining a ministry that way you really can become a closer family named roy reid i've been delivering the meals on wheels for uh over 25 years i enjoy doing it i enjoy helping the people giving back to the community and things the meals on wheels program is a program that benefits those who need assistance in their nutritional health and uh mount zion has been participating in the program for many many years these two ladies right here were involved back when they were young i started about maybe 10 to 12 years ago it is a very good program i look forward to it every year because it helps people and it is my job as a christian to feed those that are hungry add it up i know for her in such a i think the most vulnerable you know like our kid infant and neo-natal work is a whole different ministry parents who you know have hopes of a child and you know what the numbers are saying you know and you've talked about going from one room and telling a family the baby didn't make it another one the baby is going to make it how you've been able to shift your mindset and do that but talk about your journey in that in your faith and how your faith has helped walk families to that well i think for me um it starts before you even get into the hospital you know we've got a number of students here who are walking in faith you know coming to church walking alongside of their studies and i think ultimately for me it was the understanding that i am but a yes i'm a physician but i'm a mere vessel being used by god to execute whatever it is he sees fit for this patient's life and so yes i'm going to school to study yes i'm going to school to become the best doctor i was to become right but at the end of the day i recognize that i never had the final say being able to walk into the hospital praying about your day praying for your patients praying that god gives you you know the right things to do and if you don't know what to do in the moment that he supernaturally you know figures you know helps you figure out whatever it is that you need to do for that patient in those moments of crises um and then transferring that to the families so recognizing that if you are with a family and their loved one is in trouble whether it be an adult whatever you're recognizing that what you don't want to do is eliminate hope [Music] because again you don't have the final say [Music] listening [Music] jesus [Music] [Applause] [Music] jesus [Music] jesus [Music] [Music] and i'm so glad i'm offering god the highest phrase today and if it seems my victory's fading [Music] knowing all things work for good in jesus the faith i think so far i don't know what you want to do [Music] [Music] now i'm going all that our lives are blessed and faith is strengthened and we pray god that right now somebody's life will be changed forever open up our hearts and our ears that we might receive this revelation today and give your name the glory and praise that is already done in jesus name somebody say amen this is part two of all or nothing and i want to look at acts chapter 17 today beginning at verse 22. paul stood in the midst of the era pagason said men of athens i perceive that in all things you are very religious for as i passed through considered the objects of your worship i even found an altar with this inscription to the unknown god therefore the one whom you worship without knowing him i proclaim to you god who made the world and everything in it since he is lord of heaven and earth does not dwell in temples made with man's hands nor is he worship with men's hands as though he needs anything since he gives to all life breath and all things and he is made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on the face of the earth and has determined their pre-appointment times and the boundaries of their dwellings so that they should seek the lord in hope that they might grope for him or feel for him and find him though he is not far from each one of us for in him we live and move and have our being as also some of your own poets have said for we are also his offspring therefore since we are the offspring of god we ought not to think that the divine nature is like gold or several stones something shaped by art of man's devising truly these times of ignorance god overlooked but now commands all men everywhere to repent because he has appointed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained he has given assurance of this to all by raising him from the dead you may be seated today in the presence of the lord and today i want to talk about i want more than this the more you grow in knowledge and relationship with the lord jesus christ the more you desire different levels different dimensions the truth is is that some people they get stuck they become complacent with just enough to get by just enough prayer just enough worship just enough knowledge of god's word just enough conviction but the fact is if you're not careful you'll get stuck and never live out the full capacity of what god has made available for you as a child of god today this message is directed and people who have felt the nudge in your spirit there was something more more than your current prayer life more than your current level of worship more than your current level of giving more than what you've been sacrificing you want more than just showing up going through the motions there's got to be something deeper something more and i want you to hear this today because what you are after is available for you today it's in the house it's on that stream and please understand today people of god today will be a fascinating journey to help you discover how to receive all that god has for your life in relationship with him let me take you to a place in first century athens greece a place called arapagas what a marvelous time to be alive in the first century in athens greece the epicenter of intellectualism and philosophy the streets where plato wrote in aristotle it was in athens where the height of philosophy and literature occurred in that place in athens that was the wonder of the modern world in the first century the apostle paul would have a conversation in the same streets of plato and aristotle would walk athens greece was an amazing place the epicenter of intellectualism as a matter of fact i pastor in a city called nashville we call it the athens of the south right downtown in nashville we have the parthenon which is a replica of the very parthenon that sits in athens greece known for incredible scholarship architecture intellect paul on his second missionary journey paul would go to a place called era gables mars hill this place was a place where great debates would occur on the steps of mars hill it was there in eric apres where it was literally the supreme court of ancient greece civil criminal and legal matters would be reconciled there on mars hill and philosophers would come and they would debate and they would debate do nothing else but debate some new idea i want you to come to mars hill i want you to imagine what that must have looked like that philosophers would come all around and just stand there like men in the barbershop just having a debate one after the next the apostle paul would then be summoned to this place saul who became paul in order to really appreciate that you must understand who paul was and why paul could speak to men like that because saul was a brilliant man trained at the seat of gamiliel he gives his vitae in philippians chapter 3 to the church at philippi declaring how trained he was he says on the eighth day circumcised hebrew among hebrew to the law of pharisee he was a brilliant man saul was saul could carry his own weight in a place like that because he was an intellectual he was a brilliant man but he was a persecutor of the church and even though he had accomplished much intellectually when he got converted in acts chapter 9 jesus met him on the damascus road and converted him and now he shifts and begins to talk about jesus christ passionately about the christ who saved him paul says of what he declared in philippians chapter 3 bragging about all the things that he had become you have to understand this is saul who spoke hebrew fluently and latin fluently in greek fluently he said i counted it all done lost for the excellency of the knowledge of jesus christ and so paul on the one hand is an intellectual he is a man of law a man of philosophy a man of great thought an erudite on the other hand he is a born-again believer filled with the holy spirit and now he walks with this ambidextrous anointing that he could go between both worlds and carry the weight but the world at mars hill that era gabris know nothing about his conversion and they look at it cynically and then begin to wonder what has happened to our colleague paul let's see what this babbler will now say because what he's talking about now jesus and the holy spirit and what god has done doesn't register for them because they are incarcerated by religion and regiment and routine and paul gives what is called in theological terms the first apology that word in theology means a defense to defend the gospel paul goes and looks and assesses them and looks at them and says i noticed something about y'all y'all are too superstitious you too religious paul says i'm looking at you and i'm watching what you're doing and watching how you're going through the motion i'm looking at all this stuff i'm looking at you dare worship but i see this inscription by what you worship and it's an unknown god whom you ignorantly worship and i have come to declare him unto you i have come to tell you that there's more to what you've been doing i have come to tell you that what i have experienced i have come to share with you there is more than just showing up and having a debate and looking sanctimonious and throwing together theological phrases there is more and i have come to tell you how to tap into it as a matter of fact god don't need you all this stuff y'all got going on all this temple stuff and all this stained glass wonders and all these relics god no god god don't need that because you see god don't need you you need him as a matter of fact it's in him you live it's in him you move and it's in him you have your being even as some of your own poets have said today i have come [Music] to help you understand if you are after more how to get it and today i want to just come right at the gate and tell you first of all people of god listen to me very carefully loud and clear don't be crippled by religion paul says i perceive that in many things you are too superstitious you are too religious they created an altar to an unknown god whom they ignorantly worshipped and you have to be careful that you are not crippled by religion because religion in and of itself is not bad but religion implies rules regimen jesus came to deliver us from religion and bring us into relationship which became cattle intuitive the people who understood rules because religion always wants to impose rules upon people and that's what messed people up when they run into jesus because there was a woman one day who was calling on adultery and that people were ready to put the rules on her they were like the rules say we should stone her and jesus said ye without sin cast the first stone they had to drop their rocks because relationship is always greater than the rules see religion will have you putting rules on people and you become subscribed to the church of thou shalt not so everything you do in churches i can't do this and i can't do that and i can't do that and that's why nobody wants to be a christian because we always tell them what they can't do we don't know what we can do you see listen carefully you've got to get to a point where you don't put tradition over truth you have to be mindful that you do not amplify your traditions over the revelation of truth in god's word traditions can always be trusted and the problem with tradition listen it is often the product of number one faulty doctrine what do you mean by faulty doctrine i'm glad you asked the misuse of scripture that creates a dogmatic doctrine that is imposed upon people with the erroneous interpretation to back it up the people who don't understand the scriptures see nothing's wrong with the bible the problem is it's the people that interpret the bible for their own purposes and misuse the bible to oppress and marginalize people and so as a consequence if it creates faulty doctrine it makes people say that's why i don't trust the bible because the bible got a lot of flaws and the bible don't have no flaws man imposed his own agenda upon the bible and used the bible to create slavery use the bible to create oppression of women use the bible to create segregation the bible can be used to create whatever you wanted to create and faulty doctrine is what has messed people up because people of god you got to understand something whenever you take a text out of context you have a pretext and that's what has occurred in so many of our lives in the church historically because now we have one with stuff that has been faulty doctrine and now we've told people well that's why women can't preach because a woman ought to be silent because you took a text and then understand the context and that's why you said you know women are not wear that which pertains to a man and you don't understand the context because that's not what paul was saying because actually what women wore then and what men were back then when that was spoken they were different things today and so as a consequence you got to look at the whole context and then we begin to imply other things upon people because we don't understand what the bible is saying to us and therefore we impose those rules and regulations on people because it is ignorant application of the word of god and it makes me sick and i have come to declare today you got to study to show yourself approve a workman that rightly divides the word of truth need not be ashamed of god's word what we do we apply these things and we could go after stuff that we caught and we really weren't taught because it becomes dogmatic doctrine but it is faulty it is faulty it is flawed and so once i then create faulty doctrine and i impose that faulty doctrine upon you then i incarcerate you by heaven you focus on denomination the nomination in and of itself is not bad it's only really a subgroup of a religious organization that has its own identity and his own you know personality and beliefs but the fact is whenever your denomination takes president over the truth of god's word what happens then you have a problem because ultimately what you begin to do is that you begin to allow how you were proselytized or how you were catechized to take precedent over the revelation of god's word in your life and so as a consequence you come into the house of god and you watch and you say well this isn't what i'm used to so therefore i sit there because you know i i'm more baptist than i am bible you see what i mean and so the consequence because i was raised presbyterian that's why oh y'all too loud because i'm a presbyterian or i'm a i'm a catholic or i'm a i'm a i'm an apostolic and y'all don't do what i do and i'm a baptist where the deacons at and i don't understand why bishop ain't wearing a robe i grew up methodist so you've got all your denominational tenets in place that's incarcerating you and keeping you from actually the revelation of god's word because see the nominations only are things that divide that's why you take a hundred dollars down to the bank and ask them for change they'll say what denominations do you want it because it divides but see you got to understand god is not concerned about man's denominations because there will be no method as hell no methodist there will be no method is heaven there was no baptist hell and baptist heaven that's why you got to realize childhood god god is looking for people that worship him in spirit and in truth and when you know god for yourself this ain't a baptist praise this ain't a methodist praise this ain't an apostolic prayer it is a praise when i think of the goodness of jesus and all he's done but if i could call you watch this through tradition to be so caught up in your denomination watch what happens through faulty doctrine right focusing on the nomination then you become faith deficient because now you're in a context your whole life in church and don't have no word because now you've been entertained and you've been shouting and that's why a whole generation grew up saying we show head church what the preacher talk about i don't know but we show had church because the emphasis was not on the word of god the emphasis is on all the other things and accoutrements of religion but it was never on the word of god but see that's why you could go through something and you bought the crack because there was no word being built up in your life and people get excited about a song but then they want to tip out doing the word of god but let me tell you something heaven and earth will pass away the grass with us and the flower phase but the word will last forever i believe i've got some witnesses that will testify that one for the world i would have lost my mind the one for the word man i be somewhere scratching myself if it wasn't for the word i wouldn't have got through the storms in my life i give god glory for the word of god listen that's the word that's the word that's it and paul says here's the problem you're too superstitious because you don't know there's a difference between knowing about god and knowing god if you're not careful you'll get caught up in the act of worshiping without the object of worship it's synonymous with people who get excited you are excited about the idea of marriage more so than being married you see worship people of god listen carefully worship cannot be crippled by religion when you worship god you are worshiping god as such that paul says i'm looking at all this stuff but you are ignorantly worshiping him you don't know him because see real worship watch this real worship does not have a performance of one and an audience of many that's what we flip worship to the performance of one and the audience of many why you just sit there and say sing my song but if you really understood worship it would be a watch this it would literally be a performance of many with an audience of one we've been trying to give god glory i'm not worried about who's here i just want to make sure god you getting the glory i may not be able to sing like you sing that's why you said make a joyful no not a skill for noah because my worship belongs to him and when you come into the knowledge of god for yourself this thing gets personal that's why you ought to thank god for what god allowed you to go through because when god allows somebody to go through some things boy it begins to fine-tune your response to god so now my response to god listen now my response to god is not tied to replicating somebody else's religious routine of worship because that's what we do we program people to dance like other people to shout like other people to pray like other people and we disable other people because they say well i can't dance like that i can't pray like that i don't shout like that so maybe my relationship don't mean unto god i ain't there yet if we make people feel bad we shame them because like why don't you dance why don't you pray like that well because you are measuring the authenticity of your dance and your shout and your prayer as the standard by which god gets glory but see you didn't go through what i went through [Music] if you have gone through what i've gone through you'd understand that my dance may not be like your dance and my shout may not be like your shout but baby it may not happen right here in sunday morning you don't know what happened before i got to church today i was worshiping on my way here i was giving god glory in my car am i talking to anybody so while you performing i'm giving god glory i came in here worshiping so paul says i noticed something about this you worship but you don't know what you're worshiping and there's so much more paul says now i want to take you deeper now i got your attention i want to talk to you about the importance of contextual revelation big word i know the context i want to put in context how god reveals something paul says now i'm looking around i'm seeing all these symbols and all these emblems and all this stuff y'all got set up candles and whatnot statues and i'm looking at you pridefully lifting your hands like you're doing god a favor like lord i'm tired but i'm gonna go on now guess i'll go on the church god but you don't feel like i'm going to press my way like you doing god a favor and you really believe that god is limited to the temple and paul says i'm going to help y'all understand something because see if you limit god to the temple then you think you can do the right thing at the right place and get away with the wrong stuff in the wrong place let's be very clear he don't need you you need him you got to resist the tendency of believing you're doing god a favor by serving him and you got to realize that god has given you the strength the power to serve him god gave you the hands god gave you the feet to be able to serve him that's why you're to serve the lord with gladness and come before his presence with thanksgiving you ain't doing god no favor because you worship him god's got angels that worship him all the time you worship in god because you need god to move heaven on your behalf you ain't doing god no favor because you give to god somebody will be like i ain't gonna give i mean i'm gonna hold my money back as if though when you hold your money back the atlantic ocean gonna stop having water the pacific ocean gonna stop having water the air gonna stop flowing in the earth no you ain't giving cause god need he got a cattle on a thousand hills you're giving because god wants to get a blessing back in your life give and it shall be given to you good measure pressed down shaken together and running over listen see you gotta understand some people of god listen paul says i want you to understand something god don't need your hands god don't need your stuff you need to give it to him paul says but i'm getting ready i am getting ready to dismantle your arrogance i'm getting better to help you understand some god is bigger than the building i know that's counterintuitive to many of you because you you came in the building those you watching online you come to the building sometime and i'm going to church i'm going where god is but if the pandemic taught us anything that when the building is closed god is still in business some of you found out the church can be in your cubicle the church can be in your living room in your kitchen in your front seat of your car in the parking lot but what happens they thought that the prisons of god was in the temple and they got it honestly i mean god moved in the temple in the old covenant and so that's where god's presence worked among his people this is why hannah goes to the temple and prays to god and gets a breakthrough because that's what they believe in that's what god's presence was it was in the temple but when jesus comes he actually shifts that and reminds us that that we become the temple of god we are the church and so wherever we are that's what the church is so therefore the temple lives within us i'm trying to help somebody understand this and so as a consequence you've got to realize that if you subscribe to that idea that ideology that god is in the temple this is what you do you really tell people you own your way to church and you have this proxy you have a moral proximity crisis what's a moral proximity crisis past i'm glad you asked it's when you do stuff like this you're on the phone and you're beefing with somebody on the way to church children in the backseat y'all beefing and then you pull up on the parking lot look i'm gonna have to call you back i'm i'm going in the church i can't do this and you come in here and you come visit god and then after the benediction get back in your car put your children back in the back seat pick up the phone again and then start speaking in tongue god didn't give you because you reverence god in the house but then reference god in the yard cannot preach just like i feel it but when you realize that god is everywhere that god is not limited to the building your morality is not tied to proximity your your morality is tied to wherever you are because wherever you are is what god is and so as a consequence you begin to realize something he said i want you to know some god is bigger than this building he lives everywhere you are the church wherever you go you represent him amen wait a minute it's a powerful revelation right philemon in chapter one and verse two philemon gives a greeting it says how is the church in your house but but let me just help you understand this because i know some people will use this as an excuse to not come to the buildings here i told y'all that's why i don't go i told you because yeah i worship god at home i told you don't have to go down to that church well let me help you hold on hold on hold on now i thank god for the ministry of streaming if i could stream sometime i would i wish i could preach to y'all from home let y'all come down here but streaming is a convenience and we in our ministry believe in dual efficacy we believe that whether you stream whether you're in person it's the same to us it doesn't matter as long as you're engaged right but some people use the pandemic the streaming pandemic over and they not streaming they had brunch you know i'll be tuned in uh-huh no you you ain't tuned in you had brunch so here's the fundamental problem streaming or coming in let me set the record straight the reason why it's important to come in the house sometimes it's not because god only lives here he's at your house it's not because the word is here the word is coming at your house there's one thing here that's not there india fellowship see we were wired to be in community people because you needed community right you couldn't wait to go somewhere you like just anywhere let me just run to the store i was going to the grocery store just let me go i just want to go to the i got it i got i just want to get out the house i'll take it i got it i got it cause you're wired for community and here's the deal it's koinonia like larry i talked to you about earlier today whose son was murdered last night larry came to a15 service today and was loved on and supported by community now now this is not for you this is for your cousins send this part to your cousin oh it's that wow why you got to go to church to have a relationship with god because you need koinonia see you don't have to go to the club to have a party you could say alexa play electric slide in your house [Music] in your house but you go to the club because you need corninea fellowship you don't have to you don't have to you can you can shop online some of you doing the pandemic called the amazon anointing you had a box coming every week to your house but it's something about heaven and then getting in your car going to the mall you just want to be out among people in cornelia you know you don't have to look at you don't have to go to the stadium to watch the game today you can got the best seat in the world your couch you can put it on the big screen and sit right there and watch the game and go between games but you get in your car drive to the stadium park way down yonder walk with them heels on knowing your feet hurt and go in that seat because you need koinonia you don't even need to you can date your boo by face time y'all could have a face timer i just want to see you by face time but you get in your car late at night and drive to the house because you need never mind never mind touch your neighbor say i know what he talking about now i got it i got it tell somebody to say i got it in the chat you see that's why i was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the lord because the things i get here that i can't get nowhere else preach bishop i'm doing the best i can paul says i want to help you understand something you were also created for a reason paul says i want you to understand something there's a purpose in your life and paul says something that challenges them like never before he says we are one blood we're one nation of people paul is talking to a people who have been divided by so much you have to understand what we're dealing with you have two groups of philosophers there i want to break this down the two groups of philosophers that paul is having to address at mars hill one remember are the epicureans the epicureans believe that god exists but that god is not concerned about the affairs of man and so consequently god is just more concerned about us doing our own things so enjoy pleasure so their procurements just live life on pleasure just have fun still a movement today called your procurement people just go and just you feel good do it then there was a stoics the stories believed you know what now god is god and god is the moral conscious of the world and consequently you should rise above the care of the world and not be concerned about pleasure or pain don't respond to either just be stoic just be stoic and those were the opposing views at mars hill the epicureans who were fearly and touchy and emotive who were into passion and the stoics who were emotional pretty much stern in their disposition and watch this though this is gonna bless you and they were divided by much and then paul says i want you to understand something y'all y'all the same you have more in common than you think fact is we're one in the spirit you got to recognize in this time of division that paul has it's the same kind of division we have now people divided theologically politically we have so much division the problem is people of god is so much division racially so much division and otherwise we don't even understand that we are one we are one and people hear this it doesn't matter what church we go to it doesn't matter what color we are we're all one we are one people we are one god made us one spirit god made us one person we may be of different skin type we may have a different address we may have a different social class or a different ideology or theology but we are different and nobody deserves to be oppressed nobody deserves to be attacked because of their difference because we are one we all are god's children we're all one big lump of dirt that god favored that god blew his breath in and gave us life and ultimately we're just alike we cry we believe and we all die the same different methods but we cross over the same just like the person who died the other day didn't get any press they died in some one bedroom apartment in poverty died the same day queen elizabeth died and queen elizabeth for 70 years had people bow down to her and kiss her ring but when they crossed over queen elizabeth wasn't queen elizabeth that day because she had to see the king and bow down herself because death makes equals of us all we create these social classes and we start treating people different because of what they drive and what they have but we all are alike and that's why you there's no place for arrogance in the body of christ we are all one i need you and you need me that's what the bible says how beautiful and pleasant it is for brother when to dwell together in unity it's like the oil that ran down upon abraham's beard to the skirts of his garment we are better together somebody shout we're better together i don't care if you ain't got but two teeth they look better together and you should die empty listen to me you live your life and you should die empty it's a marvelous book called the top five regrets of dying by brony ware ronnie ware worked in palliative care in a hospital setting and did write this compelling piece about her interactions with her patients and she talked about how the top five things she noticed among all of her patients at the point of death and this is what they said i regret that i had the courage to live life i didn't live life true to myself i wish i'd live life true to myself and not life the life that others expected i wish i had the courage to do that i lived my life trying to please everybody else i never lived my own life i wish she says i didn't work so hard people got to the end of life i realized i could have wrote one less book i could have took one less trip and maybe my children would know me maybe i wouldn't have lost my family i wish i had the courage to express my feelings i kept everything bottled in and never talked to nobody never told anybody how i really felt about them never use the words i love you i wish i had stayed in touch with my friends took a life for granted so you think your friends are the people that follow you on facebook those aren't your friends and i wish she said i had let myself be happier i wish i had understood to do the things that i really want to do in my life that's why in my life now i've learned i don't care what y'all think i'm gonna be happy i'm gonna enjoy life i'm gonna live full and say you gotta get to a point in your life now you got to start living your life to the fullness god plays so many great things inside those things should never die you should always say lord let me live my life full there's a purpose in my life and i don't want to take it to the grave you know how many people took gifts to the grave they took so much that god deposited in them but when you recognize philippians 1 and 6 being confident of this very thing that he who had begun a work in you would perform into the day of jesus christ you begin to realize what's inside of you you say i'm not taking nothing to the grave i want to be like the apostle paul when paul came to the end of life he says i'm ready now because i fought a good fight i kept the faith i finished my course that's laid up for me a crown of righteousness right because i did what i was supposed to do and i did it for two words i didn't do it for a trophy or a certificate i did it because i wanted to hear him say well done that good and faithful let me close right here you got to have the confidence in your spiritual relationship just give me these last six minutes and i'm done i promise you paul shares something so powerful here paul makes a statement that all of us should understand paul says now is that god that you should feel after paul says it's in him that you should happily feel for he's making a statement he's really he's sidelined the epicureans like y'all should feel after him because you clearly don't have a feeling problem you see the problem is so many of us we're passionate and we feel after things of the world but when it comes to the things of god we want to play stoic they sit in church i'm not emotional i'm not no i'm just not like that then in a few hours we're going to be down there watching the game you're going to be out of your mind you're going to be up in your seat yeah i'm going to be there watching you you're going to be saying run king henry run king henry and when i say king jesus you like but if you've got feelings in the world if you've got passion in the world why are you going to come to church and sit up and hit like a wet log i believe i got somebody up in here today that can say man when i think about the goodness of jesus and all that he's done for me i got the cane habits [Applause] that's why the old folks i wouldn't have religion i couldn't feel something listen here it is finally you got to get this we have this he says you got divine partnership they had an understanding of god says god ain't far from you you under there's something that god's way somewhere that's your problem y'all over here speculating conjecturing and babbling you think i'm the babbler y'all missing something you think god is way up there somewhere and i know what you're getting you got an honest that's understanding of who god was in the old testament and god was transcended that god was above his people and god was so far above that we had to like look up to the heels and god was way up there and but then david introduces something in the 23rd psalm about the imminence of god that interrupts that whole idea that god was transcended only but that god was also imminent meaning god was close to us than we ever thought because david during the roughest time of his life when saul was trying to kill him david wrote the 23rd psalm and david said i was in the valley of the shadow of death and found out some he's right there with me somebody else found out in your own personal situation that god has been right there with you the whole time the times when you fell asleep at the wheel god took the will that drove you home times when your heart was broken you were in your car they know how you was gonna make it but god was right there with you but nobody understood god was right there with it he never forsook you somebody to give god glory and he was right there when everybody else left you god was right there and i'm nothing without him i have to admit as an english major i got excited about this because when i read about the first century in philosophy and i read about poetry and i understand poets like eritus who is actually mentioned here literally in him you move and have your being even as your some of your poets have said it's a direct quote from eretus the first century poet and paul is saying i need y'all to understand something all this stuff y'all got all this stuff y'all bragging about all this elitism y'all rocking with all this flex y'all got don't mean nothing to god because you're nothing without him paul says i need you to understand some people of god it's in him we live in him we move and in him we have our being i'll explain like this and i'm done um there was a um a man who owned a pawn shop and an old man came in one day and he came in knowing what he wanted he walked in the pawn shop as if though he knew exactly what he wanted he looked and went right to it and said how much for this old violin see the violin had one string it was beat up and dirty and the pawn shop owner said that old thing man take that thing out of here 50 cent that thing's been in the way of all my fine relics you can have that 50 cent he said 50 cent 50 cent take it the old man got the violin and took it and went home three months later pawn shop owner is watching television and he sees the old man first chair virtuoso he sees it first chair violence he sees him playing and the man is popular world renowned he said he looks familiar i think that's the same man that came in my store he decided i'm going to go down to his show he goes down to the second night of the man show waits for him white comes to sign books and cds and all of that and the old man looks up name please he looks up says i'm the one who owned the pawn shop so yeah you brought the violin from me yeah yeah i did he says what did you do with it i mean i i didn't know you were that awesome and i didn't know you could what did you do with that violin he said yeah that's the one i was playing tonight he says that old thing that was one string beat up thrown away is the thing you were playing he said yeah yeah you don't understand it belonged to me someone told me where it was they thought i'd lost it in a house fire in some kind of way it ended up over here with you but it always belonged to me so when i found out where it was i went to get it and i fixed it back up because see it belonged to me and i fixed all the strings and cleaned it up and what you heard tonight is the result of it being in the hands of its owner i have come to talk to somebody today and people wrote you off threw you away and said nothing to come of you but i believe somebody can give god glory that you know you'd be nothing if you were not in his hands the reason why i preach like i preach is because i'm in his hands the reason why we sing like we sing because we're in his hands the reason why i do what i do is because i'm in his hand can you give him glory that he picked you up one day he cleaned you up one day he fixed you one day saved you one day and now he's using you to bless the world it's in him we live it's in him we move it's in him we have our being a child of god all around the world all in this building today as we stand i want to give somebody an opportunity today to say yes to god let me tell you how amazing it is when you say yes to him you're literally saying god i can't do this by myself i want more i want more i want a deeper authentic relationship with you i don't want to just go through the motions of religion i want a real relationship right now while you're streaming around the world i want you to take out your phone i want you to text the
