hello welcome to my channel in this tutorial we'll learn how to make motion blur and blender eevee in cycles let's get started the lecture [Music] firstly let's define what the motion blur is if an object moves too fastly while being captured a photo or shooted video then it will appear blurry it happens in photography usually when your shutter speed is too slow to capture the movement of the object in real life the human eye also perceives fast moving objects as blurry so in computer graphics we need to add motion blur effect to get more realistic render now let's see how to add motion blur in blender we have such a simple propeller model i will share the download link in the video description first of all let's animate the propeller press numpad 1 to switch to front view select the propeller and click on the object properties tab at frame 1 go over the y rotation value and hit the i key so it will be added rotation keyframe at frame 1 then go to frame 5 set the y rotation value to 360. on the y rotation value hit the i key and add another keyframe so the propeller will have full revolution on the y-axis on the timeline editor press shift e and make cyclic [Music] when we play the animation we can see the animation have cycle until the end frame of the timeline in order to see motion blur effect we need to get render firstly let's add a camera move the camera on the y-axis press numpad 0 to switch to camera view we can adjust the y location value so that the propeller fits to camera perspective for lighting we'll use environment texture let's switch to render properties tab go to world properties tab click on the color node and choose the environment texture choose the any hdri image set the strength value to 2. firstly we'll make motion blur with cycles render engine click on the render properties tab and be sure that cycles is active render engine set the maximum samples value to 64 for faster render scroll down to film section and enable the transparent option so the world background will be transparent now drag the timeline cursor to any frame you want to get render go to render menu and render image as you can see we cannot see motion blur in the render result let's go to motion blur section and enable motion blur with the default settings go to render menu and render image as you can see we have got this blurry result basically before and after the current frame are rendered then they get averaged together so we get this blurry result now let's go over the motion blur settings the first one is shutter in photography a shutter is a device that allows light to pass for a determined period the shutter value is time which taken in frames between shutter open and close it controls how much motion blur we want in render result if we increase the shutter value we can see motion blur spread out further because cycles is calculating propeller positions further ahead of and further behind the current frame also keep in mind that although the slider here only goes up to 1 you can type in values higher than one the position value controls at what point the shutter opens and closes so motion blur position will be changed if we set the position to start on frame the shutter is starting to open at the current frame if switched to center on frame the shutter is fully open at the current frame if we switch to end on frame the shutter is fully closed at the current frame shutter curve allows to define the blur trail we have a curve editor here by defaultly it is set to constant curve let's get render with this default setting as you can see motion blur trail will be full strength from beginning to end now let's choose the bezier preset curve and get render [Music] as you can see motion blur trail looks smooth at beginning and end strength at the middle we can also adjust the curve manually and we can get interesting results rolling shutter is a kind of image distortion some cameras have cmos sensors this kind of sensors don't capture the entire pixels in a single instant instead they scan the pixels with horizontal straight line from top to bottom so it causes the image or video distortion let's switch the rolling shutter to top bottom the rolling shutter duration controls pure rolling shutter effect and pure motion blur effect if we set the rolling shutter duration to zero it means we will get pure rolling shutter effect if it is set to 0.5 we get half rolling shutter effect and half motion blur effect [Music] if we set the rolling shutter duration to 1 we will get pure motion blur effect now let's learn how to make motion blur with blender ev scroll up and switch the render engine to ev enable the motion blur option let's render with default settings as you can see the result looks terrible it is because the maximum blur value is too low let's set the maximum blur to 512 pixel and get render [Music] as you can see we have high resolution motion blur now steps value controls accuracy of motion blur more steps means longer render time the higher set this value the more accurate motion blur effect finally we'll learn how to make motion blur in the compositor let's switch to cycles render engine and disable the motion blur click on the view layers properties tab and enable the speed vector option go to render menu and render image as you can see we don't have motion blur close the render window click on the compositor tab enable the use nodes option let's add viewer node and plug to render layer click on the view tab and zoom in or zoom out the background we can also adjust the background offset now let's add vector blur node [Music] drop the vector node between the viewer and layers node connect the depth to z also connect the vector node to the speed vector wait for a while enable the curved option set the sample's value to 64. we can also set the motion blur amount with blur value it is actually shutter speed thanks for watching see you in the next tutorial
