Morrowind Beginner Tips

hello everyone and welcome to a guide of starting out in Morrowind I think that a lot of you have enjoyed my morrowind playthrough over the past almost two years at this point and because it is almost over I think that some of you may be wanting to try it out for yourselves well Mara wind the game of the Year Edition is available on Steam for those who wish to buy it I think that right now it is 10 to 15 dollars which is pretty reasonable for a game that came out this long ago and still has quite a bit of replay value but to help some of you start off I'm going to tell you a few tricks if you want to sort of exploit your way through the first part of the game and get onto the good stuff without worrying about dying too much so you can get yourself outfitted and set up and whatnot to start off as soon as you enter so you're going to talk to so Caesar gala and go through the whole character creation process of course I'm going to skip this part because you're going to want to make your own characters okay after you get to this point you're going to want to pick up your papers and here is where the interesting part begins before you talk to sell straw is and get your release fee of a sort you are not going to get arrested for anything however items that you pick up will be confiscated so be aware of this however we can also take advantage of this this limewater platter is valued at 650 gold we want to take this and let's not take it yet let's take advantage of as many things as we can possibly get away with to do this we're going to go all the way down here and go through every one of these sacks and baskets and take everything inside them doesn't matter what they are doesn't matter how much they're worth as long as they have a value of some kind we're going to pick them up and take them including these two buckets because why the heck not after we do this we are going to then clear out this room of everything inside it doesn't matter what it is doesn't matter how long it's been here we are taking everything that we can possibly get away with which is of course going to be well everything that is to say everything that has a value on it including this lockpick where is this note to frisk our well I guess we can take it as a value of one I was mistaken and thought it did not have a value we're also going to take all these things and of course every single thing on the shelf because why the heck not there we go one shelf to shelf red fish blue fish come on get the rest on there and all the gold in there of course remember to check these baskets too and now that that is all done let's go over back in here and now we're going to start taking things from in here because that just sounds like all kinds of fun don't it so the strip to start this off let's make sure that we can get everything that we want and get away with it let's grab all of these themes now I did not take you for a fool alright now that we've grabbed up everything let's drop everything because why the heck not du duta-de du-deta du-deta du-deta duta-de du-deta to any strolling goal that you've picked up will not be a problem so that guard comes over he tells us not to do that now we look down and pick up every single thing that we had disrupt because that's the easiest way to go about doing this dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner to even drop some things that I didn't need to drop because they were rightfully ours but ok you know what well whatever pick up all that stuff pick up all this stuff and we're good to go there's our inventory perfect alright now that's all done we're going to leave here and we're clean to sell out a whole bunch of stuff the next exploit you're going to get ready to do is to come over here to this barrel and take fargöth serene as well of course with everything in there here's our next chance for an exploit but this is going to be a more difficult exploit to pull off over here there's going to be the square house key please now hopefully you can pick this up and get away with it as soon as you pick it up into your inventory stolen for the last time well it didn't quite work and it looks like we've lost a few things in here but no big deal you went ahead and took the key from us and it looks like we've gotta have broken a little bit here so let's go through all these stuff to make sure that we've gotten everything opened up that we need to ok and let's get out of here your chances of getting that key are really dependent on where he happens to be at the time and what he's facing if you hit do happen to get the key then you're going to go in here and go through all the chests and crates and everything in there to get as much gear as you want you can either keep it or sell it of course I'll watch out for the guard in there because he's on roll following that the next exploit we're going to do over here is talk to fargöth you need to rain we have is ring because it's the one who just picked up go ahead and give him his ring back this will get us a boost in disposition with the trader r-la in our lay straight house after that we're going to go back over here to this lighthouse we get to this lighthouse we're going to drop down onto this dump pick up a silver work up at 13 gold price and 25 gold perfect after that jump up over here and get onto if my character can jump or not I guess we'll just take the long way around or a slightly longer way around which is not be completely longer white get up onto these rocks and jump down onto this tree stump down here and from here we will pick up an iron shard axe perfect that's 100 gold even if you're not using in any kind of extra you have no axe feels and you have no plans to use your axe skills go ahead and pack that sucker up after that we're going to go over to our la Strait house and sell up everything that we have collected so far before we talk to our la of course we were going to come up here and talk to your hero Skaar flatfoot he wants us to recover some gold from fargöth hiding place the guy that we gave the ring to that's ok we can do it no big deal it's going to turn out better for us in the end I'm going to talk to r-la who has gained 40 disposition points since we have given four I got this ring back from there go into barter and go ahead and sell off everything that you don't want then I'll really decrease your curio weight go ahead and borrow with him if you feel like you have the ability to just don't try to push it too much because well you can't really push it too much you're still a new character after that so then you're going to come up to the top of Satan in my house after dark you can see down there that fargöth is sneaking around now kind of doing his own thing you can especially tell us him because he is in these sneak formation we're going to wait for him to get over to that little puddle down there after that's all done we're going to head out of here use the street and break your fall because you don't want to break your legs better to break your fall than your legs actually gets over there into that little puddle he'll still be sneaking out you can talk to him if you want it doesn't really matter bring them over here to this stunt search it and we get the engraved ring of healing and journeyman's lockpick and 300 gold you can keep this all if you want this really no need to finish up this quest but if you really want to then head back in to risk our flatfoot and you will have finished up your first quest again there's really no need to give this to him if you want the extra gold but it'd be nice go ahead and give him 300 gold he'll give you 100 gold you lose 200 but no big deal you've already got your first magical item you take advantage of this magical item to heal ourselves anytime we want now aside from all that let's go ahead and talk to various new CS he wants to give us a little bit of advice he tells us to take the silt Strider to Vivek and Balmorra until the silt strainer lady that he sent us and we will be suggested to have gotten better prizes we won't actually get this happened to us but we can actually sort of do a little side quest this way go ahead and talk to this lady mention the guy she says that he isn't very happy here in morrowind well this is opening up another quest for us right away even though he didn't really give us a quest when he said to tell the lady that he sent us if we go back and talk to him where did he go there he is buddy is newzeas talk to him about his name again he says that he's not happy and wants 100 Drake's if we give him 100 Drake's he will give us a cursed ring there we go we have a curse train for 100 gold now the curse cream is actually worth 100 gold but it will damage our health in exchange for fortifying our athletics for one minute if you want to run just a little bit faster then go ahead and use this ring and now that we have the engraved ring of healing it doesn't heal us quite as much with one charge and it is drained very fast but there you go you've just got another quest done and you have another magical item for it after you're done the Satan II can go ahead and follow this little trail around over here go around this rock head over into this direction we're going to go under that big tree right there if we look over here there should be another hollow tree stump which has been rotted out there's our first enemy if you want to kill him go ahead if not I don't blame you we're going to try to get up onto these rocks and that'll get us the next sort of Chiti way to get around not really a cheesy way but it's not that one after all oh yeah there we go it's in this one my bad I thought it was on this side but I guess I was wrong over here we are going to get a fire bite dagger not worth very much but if you're into daggers and you need a little bit of an enchantment weapon to deal with ghosts early on there you go you just got your first dagger in addition to that even if you don't want it there's 50 goals in here for you boom just like that following this we're going to get out of this stupid little swamp head up over the ridge here and somewhere in this direction over here where's that mud grab at I don't see him anymore you'll find this journal on the ground here let's get up in the air you will see a very unfortunate Breton or not a Breton a what elf called tar he'll fall from the sky go ahead and tell you all of his junk if you want you can get three Scrolls of a Cardian flight these are very dangerous you can use them if you want to test them out but remember to save your game before you do because they will most likely kill you if you don't want to use them just go ahead and sell them there with 119 gold each go ahead make everything you want go ahead and take the journal of tar heel if you want that's another 50 gold right there following this we're going to head off in this direction right over there you can see the houses that say to name if we come over here looked at these two Marshall countries be aware of the middle of enemies around here that you may AG sort of be aware of yeah be aware things need to be aware of go ahead and kill them all off because of these lower levels they will most like to kill you go ahead and use that fire by dagger if you want when all the creatures in the area are dead come over here and expect the corpse of prosecutes Vitellius you will have a whole bunch of stuff that you can take and sell on to the tax record and 200 gold now the way of the clip this quest is supposed to work as you are supposed to take the tax record and the gold back to the guy who give you your papers so that you could become release in morrowind there is another option for that though you can actually keep these things and go on the marital data if you want that's also an option you don't have to finish up this quest you can do it on your own free time whenever the heck you want because you know what why the heck not but there is also a third option you can sort of do an exploit here if we go over in this direction over here we will find this little group of shacks and right in here is foreign gilma Shack now it kind of stands that a tax record person is going to be very hated so if we look for the guy who has not paid his taxes in a long time who happens to have the most taxes on him that is foreign Gilman and this happens to be foreign Gilman Shack if we got if we talked to foreign Gill net talk to him about the murder tell him that there is no excuse for murder and that his punishment has been decided this is going to be a very easy sort of guy to practice your combat skills way how everyone use the fire bite dagger be aware that this guy is dark elf and will be resistant to all the fire type of taxes you may try to inflict on him there is an exploit though that we can take advantage of right now low level characters are not going to be that well equipped to take on enemies and granted we did get this clovie infer helm but that's really not a whole lot of armor that we can particularly Wright rely on aside from that he is a hand-to-hand person and if our fatigue gets too low we will fall down be shut up fall to the ground if our fatigue falls too low we will fall to the ground and being unable to protect ourselves and start taking damage for as long as he's punching us until we can regain some fatigue and if he hits us again our fatigue will drop again we will drop again and he will be able to do more damage now even though we're all low level characters here he can kill us pretty fast after he gets our fatigue all the way down doesn't matter if he's using hand to hand or a weapon or not so after our fatigue comes back up and we probably wanted to use the engraved ring of healings a heal us up just a little bit because you know what why the heck not come back in here and kill him after he finally drops go ahead and check his body dispose of his corpse and you'll take everything on him go ahead and look through all of his house for anything that you may want to keep and/or sell it doesn't matter he's not going to use it anyway just go ahead and write the entire place after we are done playing around with all of his toys in there and possibly selling them all off come back over to the census and Excise office and head all the way into the back again this is the guy that we're going to want to talk to now if we've gotten at least this far we've actually skipped a step if we take the tax record and the gold back to him immediately he will take the 200 gold from us not the tax record oddly enough and tell us to find the murderer we agree to find the murderer for a bounty we go ahead and we kill that guy you skipped that part where we have to give them the 200 gold back talk to them about the murder he will give us 500 gold as reward and not take the 200 gold from us BAM we've just become 700 gold richer very quickly after that's all done you can come over to Satan in my house and finish up another sort of part of the quest dr. thibaux Rainey vendre no or how are you supposed to pronounce name talk to a heard about proseccos is rain she'll be very happy that you gave the ring back you heard because those two were rather intimate she will give you 2 standard destroy health potions and gave for us now because there are no guards in here we can go ahead and kill her and take the ring back because why the heck not go ahead and get into a fight with her boys he's enough to kill her because once again she attacks with only her fist go ahead and check her body you can get prosecutors ring back around along with everything else that she was wearing now that G is dead you have gotten no bounty for it don't worry go ahead and raid her lighthouse for everything you want also upstairs if we come all the way to the top it's rather hard to miss there is a skill book down here called the race wedding dowry for two for 300 gold read this your own armor skill will go up which will be very useful for the early part of the game once again raid her lighthouse of everything you want you can now use this place and foreign gillnitz Shack as a place to store all of your unwanted items or items that look cool or maybe possibly used for a quest later on you aren't sure whether to keep them or where to store them in the meantime until you can figure out what they used for tada you just got two storage spaces for no problem and she is not used for any other class so she is free to kill now if you've gotten to this point in the game you've been looting everything that you can find of everything you can find your inventory should look a little bit like this quite a lot in here go ahead and sell anything that you don't want to r-la as usual before you sell proseccos Vitellius is ringing though consider this this is one of the highest quality rings in the game if not the highest quality you can keep this on yourself it's only 0.1 in the terms of weight you can carry this around and stick it wherever you want to and then when you're ready later on in the game you can actually enchant it with something at a very high level because it has the highest enchant value this is a very special ring go ahead and keep it go ahead and sell it completely up to you and how you want to play the game if you have sold everything órale should look about like this now a lot like Tarheel but a lot more alive too now if you followed everything up to this point you'll have about this much gold over 2000 that's very good now then since we are still not very well outfitted aside from a stupid little hat that makes us look like a Santa Claus reject let's go off in this direction and we'll head into a bandit cave now before we get you deep into this remember something you are still going to be level 1 unless you've done some well unless you've done quite a bit of practice on your own maybe you've gone off and found some trainers but this is a nice little cave to test your skill against your stronger enemies in the game for them mud crabs and starfish , foragers you know just to like like that I like like so those are result of specific enemies go ahead and kill your first bandit and that's really the only one you need to kill if you want to get a foot if you want to get the basic good loot in here if you want to go deeper in you can fight a wizard and the marksman and maybe you one or two other bandits and if we come up over here cross across this little section right here between these mushrooms you'll be able to find a niche leather right pauldron and a torch go deeper in and exit these mushrooms you'll find yet another enemy easy to kill it's just a wrap choose dance and it's done come over here and you will get your second piece of armor and that's weather left pauldron there's also a very cleverly hidden defriend in here go ahead and pick up the 5 goal that's scattered on the ground and after that's all done go over here to this puddle put away your sword and if you can look very carefully underneath the water you should be able to see one of those things look very carefully down there you can see what looks like a skeleton it's actually a skull and a potion let's go down in here and next to the skull grab this potion a standard rising force this will be your first levitate potion it does not last very long so be aware that only use it when it's only use it when you're at an opportunity where you really do need to use it I'm not really keen on fighting all the bandits in here you can do that if you want to in your own game kill them on your own free will or avoid them at your own free will we've gotten the best stuff in here that we need to start out with let's go on out of the cave and now we will move on to the next section if you so desire and you're feeling a little bit brave hit at us a Dineen go down the coast stay on the left side as close to the water as you can and head on down next to the ocean eventually on your right you will find a tomb this tomb has an artifact in it called the mentors ring beware is there going to be some undead in there some of them at possibly very high levels if you get screwed you're in trouble do save your game before you go in there however if you go just a little bit further you may be able to find yourself a shipwreck go ahead and explore the shipwreck explore everything else that happens to have fallen from the shipwreck outside and you may find a whole bunch of other stuff that you'll be able to sell or use yourself later on for now though we are going to go into Balmorra because Balmorra is where we need to go next on the northeast side of Bellmore you will find Caius Casa disease house go ahead and tie to him we're going to get the main quest going up here done everything that he needs to know and then ask about blades trainers now if you're below level 4 he will actually give you a bit of money and tell you about the blades trainers we want to know about the blades trainers go ahead and ask him about everything that needs to be asked about and at some point he will tell us his orders which are you suck you really need a lot more help he'll give you 200 goal to go ahead and ask about any other of the blade's trainers if you so wish and then head out up here hopefully you're still below level 4 there are 3 blades trainers in well in Balmorra as long as as well as one of them back and say Danny the first one we're going to talk to is Ruth Lane she's a very good trainer and if you ask her about blades trainers then she will give you a steel cure asana steel helm very good if you are a heavy armor user after that head downstairs now your entire Malins house another blade trainer again speak about blades trainers and he will give you a journeyman's Alembic this is a fairly decently rare item for new players following that head down one level and now we are going to go into nine toes house it should be the first or second one I believe not the first one it's the second one in nine toes house take a left u-turn go up stairs you turn and here's nine toes go ahead and speak to him about blades trainers and strangely enough he will give you four moon sugar that's kind of odd while you're up here reaped and dance and fire chapter three your athletic skill will go up allowing you to run just a little bit faster with that done the head outside from the silt strata we're going to go down in this direction next if you explored the bandit cave chances are you probably found a bit of moon sugar or some skooma if you were extremely lucky Dean is almost nobody in this game will accept moon sugar or skooma they will not even trade with you how you have it in your inventory however if you can find a Khajiit merchant they are perfectly willing and quite eager to take this moon sugar or skooma off your hands so go ahead and sell them any of the junk that they request sell anything else that you think you may not be able to use and wallah you just got a lot more gold another exploit is to hit a crossbow Maura to the housing district and on your left up here you can see a little bit of a tower rising up over the other buildings if you head toward that tower and then go inside this is going to be one of the guard houses at the very top of the guard house there will be another item for you there is a guard posted here but don't worry about him he's just going to be here regardless if you can position this pillar between you and him you won't be able to see you you don't have to sneak but if you're a little nervous about it just to prove your point go ahead and do that however you can't jump while you sneak on the very top of this closet is the sort of white whoa go ahead and grab this thing it's a pretty decently powerful sword for its four early players BAM white sword of whoa gun or sort of light whoa it's very powerful was quite a lot is worth quite a lot weighs a fairly decent amount and has a very nice enchantment on it as well as doing extra damage a very good weapon compared to anything else you may have gotten up at this point this may be the most powerful the hey maybe a lawn swords aren't your theme if that's the case then take the silt Strider from Val more to all Droon cell strider from all Droon to cool and then from cool go down to the docks and take a boat to gnar muck in our mock head over here to this little hollowed-out tree step there's a whole lot around here but this is the particular one we want rain rain rain rain right from a pure jump and then drink up that rising force potion that I just showed you down inside here is a skull with a sword stuck through its face go ahead and grab that that is a glass snatch dagger a glass next dagger one of the better items you can get the game as far as short swords go wait for your standardizing force potion to wear off and you just got a really nice short blade for almost nothing if alchemy is more of your theme take one of the mages guild transports over to the caldera mages guild head inside this door make sure to close it behind you and head upstairs up here you will find an entire free set of alchemy equipment we did just get a journeyman's Olympic but hey here you go masters the lymbic go ahead and sneak just to be sure that you aren't in big trouble take as much as you want take any of these things out here that you want you're good to go after you're done in the caldera mages guild hit it over here to go wreck Manor and we will find a very special and very helpful merchant now supposedly you can take all the items that are in this place as long with along with a full set of steel armor and such I haven't personally tested this out but there is a creeper up here a scamp species who has 5000 gold now because he's a creature not a person he doesn't have any mercantile or persuasion skills go ahead and sell anything you want to him and he will buy them at maximum price like this fire blight dagger seven gold he will buy it well five gold because I've used it a few times the condition isn't all that great hey you can go ahead and sell everything that you want to him well almost everything I don't think he'll take alchemy equipment or clothes unless they are enchanted and maybe some of the miscellaneous stuff too one of the funniest things I'd like to do is to sell him a soul gem with a scamp soul in it but yeah you can get quite a bit of gold by buying stuff from him well maybe by selling stuff not buying set because maximum price once again I believe up in here these guys won't outright attack us but let's try this out somewhere in one of these crates there should be aha Gorka secure asses which are much better than steel cure asses there's a few things over there orcas cure asses medium armor he will call thief but if we go over here to our stats all the way at the bottom our bounty is going to be zero yep thank goodness for that because I wanted to show you something accurate now you just got yourself a full set of one of the strongest if not the strongest medium armor in the game at least one that doesn't get you in trouble with the ordinator Zin Vivek City and about the span of half an hour you've got a character that looks like this honestly that's pretty good if you're just going to start out and get things done as fast as possible it's really really good and our inventory looks about like this now because it took a whole bunch of travel around and I picked up some extra stuff I'm sure that you won't want everything that I just showed you unless you want a lot more money but you've got over 2,000 gold maybe even more than 3,000 gold so if anything you don't want whether to creeper or some other stores to get your mercantile scale up a little bit more practice that you've got quite a bit of stuff going on in here so if you want to get started tomorrow wind there's a whole bunch of easy ideas for you just be aware that the orcish armor is pretty heavy and if you are playing a character that is not especially strong then you may suffer a little bit from that but then again you probably suffer more with heavy armor so there's a whole bunch of tips for you to get started in morrowind if you want to start playing this game for yourself if you really really really want a whole set of heavy armor then head over to HeLa o ad take a silk slider over to Vivek then take the Vivek salt shredder down to the Vivek boat service and then take the boat service to HeLa Oh at and into fat legs drop off take a trapdoor in there down inside that smugglers then you will find a water pool head in the back of that water pool and you will find a whole bunch of chests with full steel armor and you are set on heavy armor just be aware that you carry weight will suddenly plummet the moment you pick it all up no guarantee you're going to be carrying it all but there's an idea for you anyway those are my tips if any of you want to get started tomorrow wind anytime soon just be aware that I didn't mention this at the Steam sale Morrowind is only available for PC so Matt gamers Linux or anybody else sorry but it's only going to run on a Windows operating system still hopefully they will get that fixed up in the future I highly doubt it because this game came out a very very very long time ago or if you'd prefer not to use steam then pick up the Elder Scrolls anthology you can get all the Elder Scrolls games in one convenient package again though I think they only all work on PC very sad to say regardless now you guys have some ideas about what you want to do and where you may want to go if you want to get this thing all done up for yourself and that's going to be all that I'm going to bring you today thanks for joining me everyone I hope this was a very helpful video for you if few spells that you could have as well if you entertain all of this information better by reading it for yourself instead of just watching this video and having to go back through it and try and remember everything maybe write it all down there was a link in the description go ahead and follow that link and they will take you to the page I use to get all this information and follow as a sort of guide as I check you through well this guide to starting out morrowind if you want an easy guy alternatively play the game for yourself and don't use this guide find your own way come up with your own strategies and ideas let me know if any of you out there have any tips for starting players aside from late and exploits or bugs or cheats or stuff like that let's try to play the game at least a little bit fairly guys yeah the stuff is easily available but there are more options out there and with that thank you for joining me and take care everyone before we end up though I did remember one more thing that I would like to include over there is Belle Mora and if we head off into this direction we can find another very special and unmarked quest for house lalu if we come over here pass the shulk egg mine cross this bridge or jump across this bridge I mean you know whatever works for you over here in this direction somewhere that should be it is a very tucked away little hole called Vassar did deed on that cave all we have to do is come in here maybe walk forward a little bit and we should get a notification of some kind yeah we haven't been in here yet and for some reason there are rats in here I thought there would not be but okay this is an ebony mine we can pick up as much a penny as we want in here go ahead and do it while you still can eat raw ebony is worth quite a bit of gold and it is also quite heavy but then just by coming in here all we have to do is leave there are three people that you can report that mind to the first one of them is Nevada Lou lace at Lewis Manor near Sioux Ron but she won't give you anything for telling her the next one is viwanda Omani east of the vivix st. Alma's Canton will offer you two thousand gold but the one we do want to tell it to is DRAM Barrow we can find in the Haunted manor which should be this one over here I believe yes now if you're in here for the first time there are going to be some lockpicks in the on the bottom of this table down here which you will need to get in this locked door down here upon doing so seek out DRAM Barrow you should be in here somewhere and you will eventually have to find him for the main quest as well there is do you want or welcome in my home okay we are looking for let's see where is it where is it somewhere down here there does Vassar didn't net mine the mine has been lost for many many years would you perhaps know the location of this mine go ahead and tell him so that is technically not my jurisdiction but I can still make use of this knowledge I feel you deserve some sort of compensation what type of weapon do you use whatever you choose here will be a Daedric weapon that he gives you now if you're after rarity I would suggest that you do the bow or the battle ax which are very rare compared to the others so that probably a good choice for you personally I'm going to take a LAN blade because I have no Daedric long blade in this game I am using my main game to show this off to you because the security skill of the one that I was using before is just not all that great so I'm going to take the lump blade a Daedric katana there we go alright so it's not the long play that I was hoping for but there you go you have just figured out how to get an easy Daedric weapon in the game that's all you have to do have yourself in problems getting in here go ahead and buy a scroll of undo season hinging or lock breaking or something like that that can get you in here really easily if you really need the help so if you want a super powerful weapon of pretty much any kind and you don't want to use any of the ones that I showed you before then here you go you just got yourself one of the most powerful in the game that'll be it for today take Carol
