hey everybody welcome back to video game so T got a fun and exciting episode for you guys this Sunday evening because as of Friday hoto and his team updated the Sega system 18 core on Mr fpj and Moonwalker is now here and when this core got its first playable game pretty much everyone and their Uncle commented when Moonwalker was going to be available because it is one of the quintessentially Sega games on the platform and luckily if you're a patreon member to hoto that day is today while this is definitely a memoral and very fun game it also at least to me is kind of absurd as well because you can pick up bubbles the chimp here and become a gigantic Michael Jackson robot that shoots lasers from its hands this has always been one of those games that is highly creative highly unique and very memorable but at the same time ever so slightly strange before you to find involed do me a huge favor down below hit like And subscribe and ring that notification definitely helps us out and if you feel so incl and want supp the channel you got a patreon link down below as well but the good thing is Moonwalker is 100% playable from start to finish as far as the audio is concerned it does sound like there's a slight delay every once in a while but I would say this is probably 97 to 98% done and it's something that you can just sit down and enjoy whether you're playing alone or with a friend because of course there is the icon for the second player right here and as far as isometric arcade games go this one's definitely one of the better ones people either love or hate the isometric viewpoint but I think for moon walker it totally does work and if you add in the Michael Jackson kind of aesthetic going on as well as the music you just have a very interesting game and I love that you can basically even do the Moonwalker dance make the enemies dance as well and that ends up being your special attack this is just one of those games that could only exist back in the day and definitely isn't something that you would see today but it does really work for what it's trying to do and the fpj core implementation is obviously very good as well hopefully soon we'll get games like laser ghost the one that I've been waiting for the most on the system 18 core but Moonwalker is here today and that is a ton of fun but leave me a comment down below and tell me did you play this game back in the day did you play it further on Via emulation or you just going to play it for the first time here on Mr fpj because this is a very popular and very famous game for the board and if you actually want to buy a Moonwalker PCB it's definitely not going to be cheap so having a new implementation in fpj is definitely a good time and I'm sure this will come out of beta probably in like 3 to 4 months when all of the different issues are buttoned up and all of the games are made available but as far as the graphics are concerned on the system 18 core there really isn't anything that I'm seeing here that makes me think it's doing anything other than the original arcade release but if Moonwalker is your favorite game let me know if you see anything in the imagery in the motion or otherwise that makes you realize that this isn't just doing what real Hardware would do because I depend on your guys' eyes for a lot of these videos and games that I haven't played too much cuz it's probably been a few years since I actually sat down and played Moonwalker and big thanks to Andy D for helping with the capture on this one as well but it's so much fun to get new Sega cores for Mr fpj and do be aware this works on analog pocket as well even though the footage you're watching is from mister and I can't wait to see what other system 18 games are going to come next and then maybe what other boards hoto is going to work on there might be a slight misalignment in the top leftand corner there on the floor it looks like maybe one tile isn't exactly where it needs to be but that could just be what the original game looked like as well with the texture and like I said sometimes this game is just inexplicably weird that's like a Dyson robot right there looks half like something from Rise of the Triad one of the bosses and looks half like a Hoover vacuum so it definitely is one of those games you're just constantly seeing something new and unique and using Michael Jackson dance moves to beat robots and that is just again such a unique instance even for Sega but back in the day Michael Jackson and Sega did have a relationship Michael Jackson helped do some of the music for the Sonic the Hedgehog game and apparently was involved at least in some of the concepting of this game as well and that totally does make sense because it is kind of that absurd Michael Jackson nature and for an isometric game it is a very easy one to play sometimes that Viewpoint can trip people up but at least in Moonwalker as they beat him up it does 100% work you'll be able to easily hit your enemies and if you miss them it's because you miss something not because the game fought with you but I give you a sample of this sound now listen for any issues and I'll be back with a lot more more Moonwalker but [Music] [Music] enjoy w [Music] [Music] sh definitely sounds like bead underneath there and there are some sound effects as well as Michael Jackson's iconic scream but every once in a while it seems like some of the audio samples like to fight each other a a little bit I don't remember that from the real Hardware but if you do tell me down below so it's definitely one of those things Otego releases betas for these cores and everyone knows they are not finished so any sort of issues you find really aren't strikes against the work you are playing an incomplete version as far as the actual fpj code is concerned but pretty much every time a new game comes out you can play it from start to finish and enjoy it and I do appreciate that about hoto and his team betas don't mean that it's going to crash or suffer some sort of issue it just means that it might not be 100% perfect and that's always a fun position to be in you can basically play the entire game have fun with it and follow along with the updates as bug fixes come in or you can totally wait until the core is 100% finished and public and you can play it that way as well but one more reminder because I do see this comment pretty much every video if you can't put coins into the game with a button that means either you're not a member of hotos patreon and you don't have the beta key or you need to install the beta key from that file so if you do have that issue where you can't coin up that is the reason why and that does seem to trip a few people up but otherwise again this is such a fun game to have and it's so great to see a new release on a Friday of a popular mainstream game there's so many games that run on the system 18 but when people really think about it Moonwalker is definitely seeming to be the number one although for me again laser ghost is that one game on system 18 that I'm waiting for and that I remember more than any other game and you will see here you even get a little bit of an intro and story as you go through the game and you get this nice fun isometric map that shows you where all of the different people you need to rescue are including some comic book style panels in the game and of course because it is a Michael Jackson game you know you're going to have some Thriller Style zombies in here along with some robots as far as the story of this game is concerned it's absolutely absurd it makes no sense whatsoever but it works in the context of what you're playing you just kind of have to have that suspension of belief here and just expect that everything makes quote unquote sense or else you're going to be sitting around wondering why you're actually playing the story that you are you can see here in all of the combat and all of the motion and all of the Sprites moving across the screen it really is hard to find any particular thing that doesn't seem to be working correctly it seems more that the audio might be the thing that has a few bugs in this release which is totally a great place to be some of those special attacks the Sprites definitely go all across the screen but that's what I remember from the original board as well and again of course Michael Jackson with Thriller you're going to have some zombies in the game even if this game is moving Walker themed so that is kind of the fun thing it mixes and matches some of those iconic Michael Jackson moments into a game that now works on a Mr fpj core but one more sound sample see if you can hear anything you don't like about this one and I'll come back and tell you a little bit more about the game and why it's great that it's here [Music] [Music] [Applause] you also get ghost and a giant wild tank because why would that not be in the game and this definitely has some mcer Vibes going on here with the final Tower in round five but as far as that music is concerned again it seems seems like there might be a little bit of a stuttering nature to it it's one of those things I'll have to wait for the next release to see how that gets cleaned up but otherwise as far as a Beta Court is concerned this is one of the best that's come out in 2024 in my opinion as far as the ability to play it there really don't seem to be any visual glitches whatsoever the control and performance are 100% there the game is exactly what you know love and remember it just seems to have a little bit of a hiccup in the sound and like I say in pretty much every beat him up video it's not a true beat them up if there's is not an elevator level and Moonwalker definitely has that it's just one of those kind of design decisions it can artificially elongate a game give you a little bit more game playay without having to design too many backgrounds or actual additional levels so every time you see an elevator in a beat them up be aware that it is a pretty inexpensive way to make the game a little bit longer and maybe get a few more quarters off you but the great thing about an fpj core is you're not actually putting quarters into your mister and if you are please let me know how you're doing that I'd love to know how you got a coin slot fit in I'll joke aside this is here today go ahead and update your misters and it should come down just make sure you have that Beta key but tell me down below moon walker out of 10 how would you rank it I would probably say it's like a 7 and 1 half to eight for me personally but I'm sure for a lot of you one of your favorite arcade games is now on Mr fpj and that is awesome next time I get new cores from hoto I'll do a new video but otherwise I'll see you next time bye-bye
