MLB 20 Road to the Show - Part 23 - NEW STANCE AND SWING

what's up guys and welcome back to our road to the show today we are going to be switching things up a little bit we are gonna be changing our batting stance so this is something I've seen quite a few of you suggest over the course of the series so far and I'm pretty excited I'm also a little bit nervous I feel like our generic stance one is boring but it's treated us pretty well so far but we'll see what happens so from like an in-game statistical perspective I don't think anyone swing is better than any other one you know what I mean like I think they're all in the same playing field there however obviously the mannerisms of the player change and I think the timing of the swing changes so even though it's not statistically better one swing may kind of vibe with you better than a different swing you know what I mean so a lot of people kind of have their favorite swings and they swear by them so we're gonna switch it up here today we're gonna see how it works out maybe we'll love it maybe we'll we'll want to try something new if you guys have any suggestions feel free to leave them down below but you guys could see I mean this is crazy so there are three different styles here three different tiers there's generic current and former players 48 pages of stances for generic there are 46 pages of current players and then there are 15 of former players now I did a little bit of research because obviously that's a lot to choose from and apparently a lot of people on reddit really like the Ken Griffey jr. stance and I think we may have rolled with the king griffey jr. stance back in like MLB 17 or 18 or something like that I can't really remember but we're gonna check this out like I said we'll try it for now if we love it we'll keep it if we don't I may look to the comments for some suggestions from you guys should we try like Aaron judge so we try a rod should we you know let me know what you guys think down below but yeah we're gonna go ahead and take this one we're gonna see what happens we're gonna hop into a game and man hopefully uh hopefully we do well we've got the Battle of Texas going down baby here we go the Houston Astros against the Texas Rangers as we get you see here in Dallas if the globe Life Field let's get it baby pretty sure Clayton Kershaw is gonna be on the mound against us so well we're gonna have our hands full with that Kershaw to nose so far on the year the 1.80 are a it's time to time to do some damage to those numbers so we're getting a boss challenge right off the bat what's up bro how you doing mm well Cody counts to the big leagues Travis let's get it that was a really unfortunate face my man but a guy in first base we've got a 100 elite so far with two outs here in the top of the first and let's see what kind of a challenge we're gonna be handed today I'm gonna say I mean we've already got all of our power stuff going for us we've got bonuses we've got the new new stance and swing and everything four-seam slider twelve six curve changeup at a two-seam we are swinging for the fences literally on its way well cup the middle and the inning will continue is that's through for a two-out hit kind of got on top of that one and chopped it I mean we got on base but not again dear old not exactly what I was what I was looking for they're gonna boost it up I hear that's pretty exciting too to count games that's let's see what you got Braille he's seeing the ball well and he's making if I see what you got Vince at the plate I believe booth is put in chopped him up a little bit I'm gonna get to second oh he's gonna drop the ball that's an error on the second baseman and we've got the bases loaded never welcome here in the here in the first hitting our eyes especially painful hey Oscar Hernandez batting 250 on the year so far he's got a a 2-2 count yes in this game come on baby this would be huge Mitch here's the 2 & 2 oh he's gonna strike out that's alright bro it happens we got a 100 lead to start things off not bad hopefully were to be able to keep this going 3-1 lead now top of the second two men on and you'll see what two men out here to do we go I'm only power swing today boys least in this this game here comes the first pitch that's low be able to lay off that one that's a 1 Ocala the ascenders team entering play here tonight so we're looking for better than 500 baseball 8 5 and 3 in their last 8 games yeah Maddy a classic case of hitting is contagious they score oh that low changeup it looks good all the way till the end we are we were early on it anyway I do kind of feel I don't know if it's a placebo effect or now but I do kind of feel like our swings a bit quicker now I'm not necessarily I'm not a fan of all the movements before the pitch all the dancing and moving and bobbing and weaving and everything else but you know our swing is quicker than we might just have to deal with that it's just a little distracting full late on the fastball I wasn't sure if it was gonna get a stay on the outside there catch the corner of the plate it ended up doing it 2-2 count here come on Trev that's low and enter Sean can't find the target there isn't alright here we go boys 3 2 count 3 & 2 Cory leave gotta have a good eye here we don't want to swing it jump now the 3 & 2 pitch get there get there get there get there get there beat it up beat it out we gotta let's say maybe alright back to back it's only to say back-to-back singles not exactly the other how they respond he's had the response that we wanted so far but work we're gonna be ok looks you know one cow here looks like we might get something done you might get a little hit here that would be the a very exciting thing if it happens no 1st baseman makes a good play alright alright we've got a couple of chances that really blow in this lead wide open - here we go bases loaded baby alright 5 2-1 lead two outs top of the 3rd this is this is the situation if we were gonna do something treble we're gonna do it here come on French the key imagine knew you body stance we hit a grand slams games at a tipping point right now that would be insanity game out of reach but if they can't score anymore here the other guys feel like the doors still open I mean man it's not it's not the swing or anything we'll get two RBIs there I'm happy with that that's three singles in the game so far it's us we're we're getting up on top the ball my like marker is getting up on top of the ball if you're on top of it obviously it's a grounder if you're right on it there should be a line drive if you're below it you're gonna pop it up you so I mean it's all me not exactly the performance we want so far but we'll take it bro we'll take a delivery now here's one hit in the air to the right seconds gonna be able to make that play all right 71 lead here in the top of the third I mean this is uh this is pretty exciting so far top of the fifth one out with a man on second to see mystic know he's gonna stay at second ok 2 1 count and a decent spot to Bill Dixon that's inside be able to lay off that 3-1 count now we're really in a good spot here 3 & 1 couple of perks active had this is your chance 3 2 pitch and I'm pretty sure he thought that was a strike he's thinking man have to do put a bow on it that was dangerous for me not to swing out but it worked out for us we'll take it no free base on balls all right he has to put it behind him now let's get it to 2-2 count here bullet well first base and now they'll tag him out between first and second it's a double play so that brings up the big bat of Joey Gallo career numbers versus syndergaard he's gone to ended up getting stranded out there unfortunately all right good good play by the right fielder there the bottom of the fifth year it's 9 to 4 we're still uh still looking pretty good just hit it in once again might be able to actually play a little bit of defense here before the bottom of the sixth got runners kicks in at second and third hold the first I'm just gonna tag the out and make sure that third doesn't go and it looks like he held so uh they're not scoring there that's good might be able to get out of the city it looks like they did score one but so did we so here we go coming up in the top of the seventh leading off slider for seem to seem in a curve with the first pitch here it comes that's way outside now a slider well I'd like to see some good contact your trap come on let's let's get something rolling there it is see that that had a nice crack to it we're a little early I'm gonna try to push a second here we'll test his arm looks like he's got a good arm alright I'll just uh I'll just go ahead and sit down you know it's fine I'm not upset by that top the ninth leading off for see slider changeup curve your plague by singles and watches today's here I guess it could be worse towards left center that had a little bit of distance to it but it's not gonna be enough what a fly out to left center alright so I mean honestly not not the best first game it's definitely not bad I mean the squad got a win so that's exciting what was our final count four for five with two RBIs so they for singles but I mean mr. consistency right I mean really we got on base five out of six times in that game so I'm not really looking for consistent singles but that's not a bad game at all here we go this is gonna be a little interesting so it's a it's a four to three ball game here in the top of the ninth and we have been subbed into run at second base this is uh this is this is definitely gonna be gonna be interesting we'll see what we can do I'm tempted just to try to steal third but I also feel like we're in the majors and we down there we can't we can't really do that anymore so I think we just want to play it safe I'm gonna take I'm gonna say I'm just gonna keep taking little little extra steps and stop Houston and and see if we can can get around if he gets a single crunch um didn't work out right I was replaced again and it looks like all right no team was able to get a win all writing about it I mean a streak now I wasn't a part of it 11 games but um you're playing this it's up all right check this out we've got a little bit of team Kim going on walking Sioux and Corey Lee or given us some bonuses to our fielding and reaction time you love to see that feel like I'll to day is usually next to us at second base but when the lineup looks like this we're gonna have a nice little bonus to our defense you'll love to see it so here we go guys this is going to be Game three of a three-game set kind of bummed we had that second one take it away from us we had to set it out by cell I'm hoping we're getting the show you get the sweep obviously the team goes first but I'd like to show a little bit more power here I'd like to really kind of get a couple of nice cracks doesn't have to be a home run doesn't even have to be a hit like if we can hit it to the deep field that sort of thing I don't know getting on base five out of six times in that first game was out he's so great but I would rather not rather like you got to be happy with that but I would like to see that we've got some power to obviously we're a power hitter that's our builds we want to make sure this is a real swing it fits in with that so good a guy have first base two outs here at the top of the first four-seam changeup curveball slider it's just say he can be pretty bad at time oh poor seen this inside off the bat we're a little bit late hopefully a little bit low on our guest there then hide in this one here today what I like to see though let's see a couple more of those oh there it is that's what I'm talking about come on babies no I thought that was gonna carry but you know what like I said that's exactly what I'm looking for now the range and obviously I mean a lot of its user user input user error if you want to call it that like we were kind of getting up on top and chopping some of those balls in that first game so you know kind of got to be held accountable there and obviously there's gonna be a bit of a learning curve too because we're gonna have to kind of have some time to adapt to this swing one I do I do like it I don't know if it's placebo or what but it mine mine mine mine got it you're not really supposed to do that but I'd rather get the fielding bonus for Italy here we go top of the third got guys in the corners and two outs this is gonna be a big hit but yeah I mean like I said I do like it I feel like it's kind of quick I don't know if it's placebo or not but it does feel like it's a pretty quick swing it's just it's just different that's slowing away it's full viewers we'll take a look at home I'm gonna be honest this guy is hard to read as a pitcher I feel like he's releasing it I don't know if it's late or just like super high it's hard for me to see where the balls gonna end up come on yeah come on come on come on it's not gonna be enough to go the distance but it will get us the RBI the run comes everything else to school all right now jump ahead give us a nice little lead in the game put us on second base you four got a couple of guys in scoring position for teh Oscar here if he wants to go through two for two on the day come on baby I know you're down Oh two in the count I know you're thinking that it might be done but I believe in you brother look at me in the eyes you're gonna get a hit he struck him out that's alright I'm s no big deal here we go boys all right coming up to bat top of the fifth got a guy in scoring position got a 400 lead looks like we've got a new pitcher so we'll see how we can do against uh Corrado here to see forcing slider changeup at a curve first pitch of the at-bat hats up it in that's the elbows be able to lay off that guy two seamer just sighs other pitches two seamer in breaking ball away whoo that was inside we don't really like to swing at those Trev that you probably should have let that one go I just at all I don't like inside pictures of you I'm gonna be honest here we go top of the seventh games getting a little bit closer we're up 5-2 with two on and no outs last ap serving le just missed it with this guy I try to check that and I accidentally went all the way through broke I didn't get off focus up trans rabbit out let's bring this in whoa a changeup there but a little out in front of it over it's Oh two starts this count not exactly what you want to go after but for the left-field corner if it stays fair it's gone that would have been a home run dude I've liked it what we're seeing here we're definitely seeing the ball better my goodness we're on top of it every single time we are just a little too far ahead of it come on travel into where four pitches deep and olio into an account that's inside good to try to fight our way back here let's stay confident a lot of foul balls you might have you go do once you count much what they're trying to get him this that's inside to seek out oh here we go through the count got a focus up here they do this is this is a crazy at-bat top of the seventh do we I mean honestly we could really use this here if we can get a nice head now the pitch there's a drive high in the air and deep to left center field a ball that's carrying on the warning track he makes the catch look at how close this ball was fro we needed an extra two feet are you kidding me man I mean the fact that we're actually getting it out there like I said it's good enough for me I'm happy with that looks like the squad is up 11 at 4 last at-bat of the game top of the night I've got nobody on nobody out for seams slider changeup in a two-seam dude that is just a heartbreaker right there I thought that was gonna be here I thought that was gonna be something special that would have been so nice and Bunch Sonic we're all right Matt numbers out of air like I said I just wanted to see us to be able to crack this ball and we proved that through and through here that's gonna be a nice little little double am i I'm going 3 I'm gonna be aggressive just for fun we'll see what happens oh dude we were so close rack up a lot of speed we were so I like that we wait for that into the game we know we're gonna win anyway we'll take it so there you guys have it hope you guys enjoyed this episode consistent with it but that last game shows who's on the board
