welcome to r slash pro revenge this is a story of someone getting back at someone with pro revenge after being wronged thank you for supporting the video and subscribing to the channel it really helps and today's first story is flying cop gives a flight instructor a speeding ticket and loses his job in court this is a true story it happened in athens county ohio in the summer of 1996. athens county is home of ohio university not the ohio state university long story and is a pretty rural area of southeastern ohio ohio university airport uni is an uncontrolled state-owned airport about 12 miles southwest of the city of athens and the university proper along highway us50 i was an aviation student at the time working on my private pilot's license one day one of the flight instructors i'll call him dave comes in and is upset he'd just been given a ticket the day before for driving to 62 miles per hour in a 55 zone 7 miles per hour over the limit the ticket carries 125 fine and 2 points on your license as a commercial pilot at the time having points on your driver's license increases aircraft insurance dramatically in his case as a relatively new pilot his insurance rates quadrupled he tells this story to my instructor who then begins to laugh and drags him into the planning room where i'm working on that day's lesson and has me tell him what happened to me yesterday i've just done my first solo flight and today my instructor wants me to get more experience flying solo in working the radio until now he had always been in the plane with me and he handled the radio and in my first solo he noticed i wasn't using it correctly so for 63 minutes the glory of logs i'm flying the traffic pattern of an uncontrolled airport doing touch and go landings calling every standard leg and turn in the pattern on the unicom unicom also known as an aeronautical advisory station is a radio frequency setup for the airport pilots self-report to the unicom frequency just as they would to a control tower there's nobody to give or deny permissions but traffic knows where you are it sounds a little like this ohio university traffic cessna one one zero zero uniform is departing runway 25 ohio university now this part is important to understand later for those who don't know runways are numbered by the magnetic compass heading there aren't 25 different runways at my airport this airport has a single runway the end you use is based on prevalent winds you always take off or land into the wind one end faces 250 degrees magnetic the other end faces 70 degrees magnetic and is runway 7. so again 63 minutes of ohio university cessna 110u is turning crosswind runway 25 ohio university first left turn after departure ohio university cessna 110u is midfield downwind runway 25. ohio university parallel leg midfield point ohio university cessna 110u is turning base leg runway 25 ohio university turning to perpendicular of runway preparing to land ohio university cessna 110us on final approach for runway 25 ohio university should be self-explanatory i'm on my last final approach of the day about 50 or so feet above the ground when i hear a voice on the unicom i've not heard before say airport unicom cessna 7 hotel papa's final approach runway 7. now i'm not going to get into the bad form of what he said or how he didn't address which airport he's calling and that since we're using an am frequency band that signal could have traveled hundreds of miles no i look up for my expected touchdown point to see a red airplane has already landed on the far end of the runway and is taxiing toward me that's not final approach it's i'm on the ground please don't hit me i'm peeved off my instructor who's been listening to me on that frequency for over an hour is peeved off i go around land on the runway with the wind which makes landing more difficult for no good reason than because he decided it was closer to him and now it's time for my first bout of air rage like road rage with planes then we discover that his tail number hotel papa stands for highway patrol this is the pilot who gave dave a ticket and that gave dave an idea first he went to court and pled not guilty this schedules him a proper court date and then he put his case together representing himself dave first called the officer who physically wrote the ticket to explain that the numbers came from a pilot officer i'll call him po fine we already knew that but now that's in the court record now we call po dave so how do you know how fast i was traveling do you have a radar gun in the plane or p.o no there are white pre-measured marks on the ground exactly one mile apart i use a stopwatch to time your travel between these two marks from this i can calculate exactly how fast you were going dave and during that time are you watching me or the stopwatch p.o you dave the entire time i was between these two marks you're watching me nothing else p.o nothing else dave how long was your shift that day by that i mean how long were you flying with your speed enforcement assignment that day p.o looks this up in his logbook which he presumably brought with him because david asked for copies almost four hours dave and how many tickets did you write that day p.o 98 dave and i would assume there were other vehicles you checked whom weren't speeding p.o yes quite a few dave what percentage of that shift would it be fair to say you spent watching road traffic below you p.o i'd say 75 to 80 percent dave your honor i would like to enter into evidence this book it is the current publication of the federal aviation regulations officer please turn to the second bookmark and read the highlighted passage po within 10 nautical miles of an uncontrolled airport all traffic must spend more than 55 of their time actively looking for other air traffic dave we'll come back to that your honor i have two more pieces of evidence there are two photographs of my vehicle one taken from one thousand feet above the ground in a parking lot with only five other vehicles the other taken from a second story window officer please tell us which vehicle in photo one is the same vehicle depicted in photo two p.o they all look like dots to me dave then how did you describe my vehicle to the officer who wrote this ticket on your behalf if you can't tell them apart at a thousand feet p.o well for one thing i wasn't flying at a thousand feet i was flying at 400. dave please take that book i handed you earlier turn to the fourth bookmark and read that highlighted passage po in an incorporated area all aircraft must maintain 1000 foot separation from all stationary objects including the ground but this wasn't an incorporated area dave the faa defines an incorporated area differently than the state of ohio but for the sake of argument read the passage immediately following that highlighted section po unincorporated area all aircraft must maintain 500 foot separation from all stationary objects including the ground dave so you broke that federal law by only a hundred feet not six hundred feet we'll come back to that however you describe my vehicle to the officer what equipment was used to call down to him p.o a handheld police band radio he gave the exact making brand but i don't remember anymore dave the cessna 172 you were flying that day is known for being allowed to fly did you need a headset to use it p.o beginning to realize where this might be going no i can't use a headset and still listen to the aviation frequencies dave and what aviation frequency were you listening to p.o that would have been the ohio university airport unicom 123.07 i believe dave and were you monitoring that frequency pursuant to federal regulations before you answer that i'd like you to know i have two witnesses in the back of the courtroom today a student pilot and his instructor who met you that afternoon also as the university airport is used for flight training and instrument approach and departure training huntington tri-state airport records the unicom frequency i have a copy of that day's tape p.o i was not dave are you aware that's three times now that you've admitted to willingly violate federal regulations any one of these regulations could result in the revocation of your class one advanced commercial pilot's license p.o i don't have an advanced pilot's license because it doesn't exist dave you don't let me see that book i don't have a bookmark for this one again because it doesn't exist dave is planning on dropping that line of questioning giving the appearance that it's because he doesn't feel the need to flip through that large book if he doesn't have to but before he can the judge begins to audibly laugh at this point the prosecutor asks to approach and offers to drop the case and ensures the pilot's misdeeds will be addressed if dave agrees not to take these details to the faa dave i won't say another word about this case judge case dismissed faa inspector is sitting next to me in the audience dave doesn't have to say another word ohio highway patrol didn't use aircraft to enforce anything for quite a while after that this pilot officer had his commercial pilot certificate the one that did exist permanently revoked the second story is try and force workers into dangerous and life-threatening situations this will backfire in ways you couldn't imagine this is the story about how i resigned from my warehouse job once and for all the company i used to work for implemented a new way of paying management commissions and bonuses it was a money saved money paid type thing every little thing had a bonus attached to it this month you saved on stationery here's a hundred dollars didn't spend any money to repair the store in any way here's five hundred normally this wouldn't affect us but there were a few categories that were outright dangerous and unfortunately had the biggest bonuses attached to them it started with the manager and area manager wanting us to change light panelings in the store there were a few problems with this the lights were so old that the wiring was faulty and unpredictable the way the lights were rigged would require you to have training as an electrician to remove the panels and replace the bulbs management was hoping that we would undertake the work saving costs on hiring a professional electrician and thus receiving a hefty bonus i outright refused but a few of my off-siders were roped into it after one particular incident of a worker receiving a mild shock we all banded together and said no effing way a week later we were emailed a link to a new online training course the main theme warehouse employees were to undertake various maintenance tasks and the main one changing lights light panels etc if we didn't complete this training then we would be unsuitable employees not meet our hiring requirements and could possibly be terminated i set about taking screenshots of everything including the mandatory tests it became evident very quickly that i was one of the only employees who had refused to complete the training and was confronted by the area manager who said i had a week to complete the training or i'd be written up with an official warning and because of the severity of the warning could face disciplinary action and possible immediate termination now what management didn't count on was anyone sharing this information with outsiders i put together a nice packet with all the new tests and training that would force warehouse employees to do dangerous tasks but also copies of the new management bonus structure where it explicitly had categories that detailed if employees could do in-store repairs and save the company money they'd receive a hefty bonus there was even an award for most money saved i also made sure to include the copious amount of emails and texts showing that management was violating a lot of health and safety guidelines especially with the lack of warehouse staff to safely unload or load trucks and shipping containers and one of the worst things i found was around page 36 of our contracts which stated that we weren't officially covered to unload transfers and trucks that the company would hire professional contractors to unload and it was up to us to take over once goods were safely unloaded why because the company didn't want to cover us medically if we injured ourselves unloading and oversight on all our behalfs but shocking nevertheless i checked in with my best friend a lawyer who helped me navigate any non-disclosure issues and who pointed me in the right direction was sending off this information once i had sent everything off everything went back to normal for a while management kept pressuring me into signing off on undertaking dangerous tasks to make their bonuses and i refused it all came to a head when the area manager essentially said you don't sign off on this next shift i'll fire you on the spot no matter how much i plead in my case the am tried to spin it as a new company wife initiative and that we should take pride in our workplace what a load of sh i struggled with this a lot and didn't know what to expect when i got off the bus and made my way to the store the next morning when i walked in ready for my next shift the store was essentially deserted i opened the warehouse checked the transfer sheets and then grabbed my water bottle and headed into the store to fill it up as i was standing by the water filter the customer service manager came downstairs with this cheeky smile on his face apparently the manager was under close review and was currently in mediation having to answer for all the bs corners she had cut to make her bonuses the best bit the area manager and general manager were both fired apparently they were given the choice to resign without any payouts or benefits or the shareholders and ceo the company would begin an investigation into these practices i couldn't believe it a few hours later the ceo and cfo arrived and tried to offer me a bonus for speaking up a formal apology and a raise if i was to drop the case i just grabbed my bag and resigned right there on the spot no way was i dropping anything i walked out of there with a sense of satisfaction knowing that they'd be investigated and hopefully taken to task on what they tried to force us to do from what i saw online and on the company's website it took a long time for the company to recover even to this day you can see the company has been bought changed hands over and over millions lost bad publicity public trust and employee trust gone all to save a few bucks and reward greedy management thank you for so many likes and comments have a nice day
