I remember the day. I'd gotten DEEP into Miles about 2 years before, and probably had a good 35 albums by then. Came as quite a shock. I'd just graduated college the June before (but was still in school working on a second bachelor's degree).

Actually cried a few tears, not right then -- but about a year later when I later saw the footage on PBS of Miles playing the old Gil Evans' charts with Quincy Jones conducting (released as Miles & Quincy: Live at Montreux -- which was recorded in early July 1991.

I'm sure it was Boplicity that did it, this clip specifically.
