Microwave Cheese and Ham Toastie | Ashens

[Music] this week in Oh No it is from our supermarket overlords at Tesco a cheese and ham toasty mature cheddar cheese toasted white bread filled with sliced ham and Richmond to your cheddar what's wrong with that what's wrong with a nice toasted cheese sandwich a very popular thing a grilled cheese as they're also known generally you would cookies in the grill rather than toast if you're gonna call it that but anyway yeah there's nothing wrong with that is there I mean it looks half decent doesn't it yeah until you realize cook from frozen two and a half minutes in a microwave yep a frozen cheese and ham toasty to be reheated in a microwave what could possibly go right dearie me yeah I mean so the thing is as you are probably quite aware of you er bread doesn't tend to reheat too well in a microwave and this is basically bread I mean this is surely gonna be an affront to the mighty toasted cheese sandwich everywhere - one of nature's mightiest bounties Oh in the backs look exactly the same let's have a quick look at the nutrition there 18 percent of your daily calories just from this mmm 32 percent of your daily saturates 30 was having a daily salt frogs in your daily sugars quite low sugars white bread here anyway I want to see what they're doing surely for this to work right it's gonna have to have like a really clever metallic bag or something isn't it I don't know how it's gonna work right oh there is something clever going on look look you've got some sort of metal thing in cardboard right this may not be that bad man that's very frozen frozen toast reheating a microwave this this can't be as bad as I'm expecting surely surely right how do we construct it for best results heat from frozen the a8 olds that mobile packaging and slide toasty inside crisping sleeve not Crispin Glover but crisping sleeve place a microwave plate blah blah blah blah so let's have this a quick a catalyst so you don't meet in that it has to be slid inside the toasting sleeve don't worry I've washed my hands but not the sofa and this will be the crisping sleeve presumably because it's actually going to work is it going to make it crisp is it just gonna poison the land of Gentry yep it's also metallic in there and we shall pop that in oh yeah what's a joy well um how long does it take again two and a half minutes it says for 900 watts oh yeah we're at place or one minute 20 turn over one minute ten right I'll be back in a minute so here it is in all its heated glory yep well definitely looks the part it smells the part actually does look like proper toast please be crispy it is quite crispy oh okay bye crispy um a little bit of investigation with the old fingers there seems to imply that the crust has gone rock-hard and soggy in the middle so that's great that's just how I like my a grilled cheese sandwiches right where's a bit with a bit of meeting so we can know there's roads all dried and broken up because of microwaves I'm gonna take a big bite out of this and probably discover it's too hot and burn myself horribly so I look forward to that hmm well it is genuinely better than I expected so that's positive not so positive it's still not very nice yeah the bread that is the best bread products I think I've ever had cooked directly in a microwave it actually still retains some of the major points of existence that bread needs like most of it yeah it has the attributes of a bread not a good bread butter bread nonetheless I'm gonna try this hard corner it's also of them gon rock out and hands gone funny oh wow that's like you made your toasted sandwich out of bread they've been thrown out in the gardens for the birds a week ago yeah not too hot well I think we all knew that if you want a cheese and ham toasty you kind of have to make it fresh and you should point out it's not [ __ ] hard is it it's like some did you stick some bread in a toaster and then put some ham and some cheese in the middle for the very basic one or even better you know Grill it but hmm go on yeah you get one last mouth let's try it a bit from the more soggy looking stuff in the center great I mean it's alright I suppose I'm not really that great you'd have to kind of avoid the edges maybe it's just so pointless like it's not really much quicker or easier than actually having a proper cheese and ham toasty which will be considerably considerably nicer right tells me Oh Deary me well if you wish to get hold of one of these amazing feasts for yourself they are currently one-pound 25 and on Tesco's websites have been awarded one and a half out of five stars by people who have rated them I also did a little bit of maths my own and worked out that from Tesco to get the cheapest possible ingredients to make this you would have to spend two pounds 61 whoa that's over twice as much yeah but you would also get enough for eight of these minimum and there'd be much nice so if you cook them yourself the god of cheese and ham toasties would be angered by this and you all know you did not want to anger that god he's got a big hammer oh no that's thought [ __ ] subscribe for more you
