Microtech Ultratech evolution

welcome to the holiday [Music] greetings to all we have a treat from Microtech fans today a brief overview of the evolution of the ultra tech model though we don't have every different example ever made we do have a few different models that will give old and new mikrotik fans a general overview of the ultra tech let's take a closer look one of the most useful designs in size and functionality the ultra tech has seen many faces and blade styles and continues to be pocket-friendly favorite of many EDC years out there micro tech knives was originally founded not too far from where we are now in Vero Beach Florida and has moved around and settled in Fletcher North Carolina the most popular designs are the OTF series and here are three nice examples of the ultratex offer the perfect balance between an EDC user and a defensive blade they are slim light and surprisingly strong believe it or not I've seen a video on YouTube where it was used as a bushcrafter knife batani and everything this was an extreme example of its versatility but as a BDC blade you will be very happy pocketing one of these the button styles have changed greatly each time making a grippier and easier to activate the deployment button the ramp design is very effective and makes deployment feel quick snappy and solid the blade Steel's have varied greatly over the years but each design has a very good cutting shape and blade geometry I've owned and used many of these myself and can tell you that these make excellent cutters the tail end is where you see some big differences here are just three versions the original without any glass breaker the sharp spiked one by the way this one used to stab me in the palm when I would pull it out of pocket to the point where we would use a dremel to slightly round off the point and lastly the try way glass breaker that works very efficiently all these features make the ultra tech a very useful easy tool that rides ultralight in pocket the Veera Beach ultra tech is a highly collectible piece of a micro tech history even this old gal had seen some action is still kicking hard Microtech has from the beginning stressed its commitment to quality and tight tolerances and you can see it in this early model the classic clip point blade still proven today will handle many cutting tasks efficiently and comfortably the original clip gives it a high ride in pocket and it is beautifully finished and blue with matching chassis screws the square chassis ultra tech is the classic one many of you know as the standard ultra to go squared the edges are slightly rounded off and there are no hot spots this tanto configuration really gives you options for EDC tasks like scraping versus slicing versus piercing and so on the glass breaker does work but after use it tends to round off of it and right out of the box it's too pointy sharp this series also offered many different color options which was really cool made it even more collectible the latest version for this video is the contoured chassis 2019 ultra tech with the integrated ceramic carbide ball these are extra comfortable in hand and seemed to have contours and jimping in all the right places the ramped button is aggressive but does not bite and grips well whether your hands are wet or dry after many years of development this version culminates in one of the best carry knives you can buy that has a custom feel at a high-end production price here is one of the many different variants of the ultra tech if I tried to include all the different versions between productions and customs this video would be at least an hour long this one is the tri grip ultra tech that was released for a limited time the first time I saw this design was by monkey edge with their frag grip design very cool it had squares instead of triangles and was such a success that micro tech released their own version this one is indeed a pant pocket Ripper it grips unbelievably well almost too good and I have the remains of a pair of jeans to prove it but no matter pants are just like knife sheets to me anyway better not to lose the blade here's a quick overview of this limited design [Music] a day filled with micro Tech's is a good day any day yes sir thanks for joining us we hope you enjoyed this video please join us on YouTube Instagram and Facebook don't forget to Like and subscribe to our pages and don't forget to use your save 10 discount code for discount on most items on our website thanks again for joining us we'll see you next time [Music] [Music]
