MEGA SKETCHBOOK TOUR!!! (2014 - NOW)

bang hi my name is KO and in this video I went through every single one of my sketchbooks from 2016 up until now it was a lot that is how many years is that that's like eight I think this is why I'm an art major so eight years worth of sketchbooks and someone stuff in those older ones is so embarrassing oh my gosh I I just don't want to talk about it also if it looks like I recorded this um a year ago you're right I recorded it last summer and then just so many things got in the way that I didn't get around to finishing it until now but I finally finished it let's go so a couple big things have happened since then uh one they might have finally figured out what was wrong with my hand I'm currently recovering from surgery I don't know if you can see that and then the other thing is I face real so like the parts of the video where I've got a mask on just just don't don't worry about it it's not even a thing it's not there but yeah thank you so much let's go what am I doing finger guns finger guns [Music] [Music] anyway yeah this is 34 sketchbooks I think I get a lot of questions on how to improve the most and long ansers spend years and years drawing every day until every working hour of your life is consumed by Art you start looking at things and thinking that's nice lighting or that would make a good landscape piece and you become so intoxicated by your need to improve and be better that you see your friends and family as nothing more than practice portraits for your Sketchbook short answer is sell your soul to Picasso guess which one I did did no on the real the actual answer is practice see example a of course what you practice will make you improve a lot faster or slower so you'll see in one of these sketchbooks where it looks like I suddenly started taking art steroids also for the record uh I have the memory of a goldfish that's been dead for 2 weeks uh I do not remember what's in these I also knew there was no way I could script a video going through every single one of these so I'm just going to wing it sure it'll be fine don't you feel silly don't you feel but before that I have something really important it it's it's Lloyd on a sticky note isn't that cute all right Sketchbook number one I got this like seventh grade I think yeah there we go 7th grade 2014 to 2015 and of course it's kilaw dude the eyes are going to kill me I mean obviously like starting out in art this is not bad none of this is bad for starting out in art but like just knowing that I can do so much better now is you know know it's it's just funny to look back at old pictures you know what the fit honestly Vogue material oh my God she's got Squidward arms Kingdom Hearts oh I was a huge Kingdom Hearts fan oh boy the OC content here we go this is the part that's going to like kill me I'm just going to we're we're going to move on and oh my God I wish I hadn't moved on this is actually like one of the only characters that has like stuck with me like that I carried over very cute so you'll see more of him later and no I never changed the name hey Miku oh don't know what seventh grade me was going through that day I'm just going to or just what the noodle hair this feels like an ungodly mix between like one of those pople shows and Phineas and verb Hey moreid listen I'm not going to bully a Seventh grader's Art but dude I remember thinking this was the best thing I had ever drawn you know what I I was proud seventh grade me was proud and holy I was actually good at color oh is her hand backward are both her hands backwards wait I got to figure this out oh both of her hands are backwards why is this like kind of unironically good I feel like I'm having a stroke looking at this more like stroke of a paintbrush ha moving on those eyes have have seen God I remember feeling bad for giving her cleavage I was like not not in this Christian household on this Christian Sketchbook I can't give women boobs oh Luca I love Luca now this this is the best thing I've ever drawn it's been like 78 years and it's all downhill from here I believe that is the end oh no don't I'm not going to look at it [Music] anymore let's go to number two and the first actual drawing is just a list of animals I what it's not even my handwriting either or are we just going to go through oh no is it it's not all animals is it hey there we go now we're getting into the actual art this is when I really started to like get into story making there was one comic that I made for uh this dude and two other characters that you're probably going to see a lot of the other two characters were Kiki and rku oh dude I remember this character oh and her too I straight up just like ripped off from an X and Y movie I was like these are my characters these are my OC's never been done before completely original I was a little thief dude was a little crime child oh my not the ship art no wings very good that's straight up just someone's Tumblr Banner oh that's cute this was about the time I really started to get into animation [Applause] too okay listen twitch chat already calls me a free I don't need you guys calling me me too this isn't a fade this looks like an animal crossing character so it doesn't count a Fu life fan art oh there's Kiki I drew her a lot more later peik humor right there why is this actually kind of good I really went for the perspective wi boy that that looks like I just typed in anime wolf girl into Google and copied the first image I saw oh oh my God okay Carrie and this other character that you'll probably see in just a second are the two that I carry on the most you'll see them so so much hey there he is this was uh this was Slade he's car's best friend and oh my God I I did not know what I was doing there I ew ew it just gets worse the more I look at it okay hold up there you go sir don't worry I got you a There She is again not the ship art dude see this is what I mean I was such a little thief I was like these are these are my OC's these are my original villains for my superhero story I don't know if you've ever seen that one Batman cartoon but that's 100% s man that's Firefly without his mask on I swear there's a character just like it that's just poison ivy with a bad bleach job and then that looks like that one Vocaloid and I was like these are my original designs that's it nice let's [Music] go okay next on the downfall of my mental health Journey Sketchbook number three no back to the Squidward hands hey there's Kiki can you imagine having a cast this big oh my gosh wait let me just read some of these names slate Ren princess summer fall storm that is for sure just a My Little Pony Richard Dragon Slayer oh my God this character was in that big comic I drew her like on one of my homework pages or something and the teacher turned turned it into my mom and dad and was like I I don't know what's going on at home but this this will not stand she was like is your child okay because I drew some kid with a lizard eye and I got in trouble my mom was like Heather what the hell is this I was like I don't I don't I don't know another reoccurring theme you will see me create new characters for brand new stories and then drop them like months later this was one of them and then I believe there's another character named Nick who had wings hey there he is like the most basic white boy I get oh God the hoodie short sleeves dude I'm so much better at drawing wings now I'm I'm proud of myself for that oh my gosh Pala that's so cute why is the rainbow hairy the Squidward hands again they just they won't go away this dude he looks like Professor Eggman if Professor Eggman was found at a thrift store oh Picasso with my paint splatters splatter I hardly know her sorry 2010 Tumblr alt girl OC that fit what what is happening I'm just oh is it a hoodie too that's horrendous I love it hand practice oh no oh no it's Five Nights at Freddy's fan art I have yet to touch a Five Nights at Freddy's game but for some reason I really liked it in Middle School oh oh God the eyes oh it's Violet again the fit has upgraded hold on hold on it's up good I'm so glad she got rid of that Violet dark Powers no further explanation needed see this was like peak of Comedy for me like these kinds of faces I'm pretty sure it gets so much worse and yep ah wings so cool dragon go oh no is this when the OverWatch face started we're we're going to see a lot of OverWatch fan art a poke Pokemon sun and moon was that long ago oh my gosh it's a star pitch oh I really liked fullron oh I remember drawing this at the end of a exam as well oh see this is when I actually finally like started to develop a style I was trying to make no no I was still drawing undertale we're just going to keep going we're just going to keep keep gone oh wow I really hated that this was kind of when I got into drawing like action poses a lot which is the beginning of my animation career kind of sort of not really no like all the characters that I like to draw like especially in anime had these like tiny little pointed noses I don't well I don't know so I drew like all my characters like that and then oh no not more FES we're going to keep moving oh this is kind of a cool charact this is cool what the hell I got to stop getting distracted when I'm tell when I'm talking about things um Sombra oh I love Sombra so much what was I talking about oh yeah another thing about like just diversifying character designs like obviously I was doing the skinny body just a lot like skinny Barbie design which like hurt my own body image but also with just like my face like I I draw the pointed nose all the time cuz all the characters I liked did that and so I kind of set that as the beauty standard but like the more I draw characters like with other feur Fe like features like my face like I have a very hold up I'm going to draw it real quick my nose sorry slight side tangent also more car I love her so much but like my nose is you know it's like it's like this shaped where it's like curved that's the kind of nose I have but I drew all my characters with this like pointed little nose and because of that I like hated my own nose so you know not diversifying hurts so much please diversify your both both your body types facial types like everything especially skin tone um sorry literally the exact same rant I had like two seconds ago but it's so important oh I love them I love SRA so much she's so good listen I'm not going to tell you guys where it is but I used to have a YouTube channel where I did animation memes and she was like my masot if you ever find it no you didn't the Squidward hands it comes full circle should we look underneath I'm kind of curious nothing there there was well that was anti climactic the only thing under this one is cringe in highlighter yo dude I've come full circle I was buying Legos in middle school I bought this like a week ago that is unironically a sick design look at her look how cool going to put her right there no more curion Slade oh and this is when I added Rose oh she's funky keep drawings no it always comes it always comes back oh that's cute why are these actually like kind of really good and for some reason I decided to use eye bleeding pink yes this is when I started to use pen just all the time it's so might be that is the end that is SketchBook number 16 quick explanation on this Sketchbook that you're about to see when I was applying for art school I of course wanted to apply for Cal Arts so I looked at like a bunch of different Cal Arts like accepted sketchbooks and essentially tried to copy that in this which is what this one is and I improved so much doing it oh my gosh but yeah this was like my Cal art Sketchbook I think I just kind of wanted to prove to myself that like I could get in but I never even turned it in cuz I had already decided on an art school at that point so that's what this is fancy little intro but yeah I saw a lot of people do these like skeleton things so I wanted to do that too these are I like these a lot dead squirrel live squirrel oh this was a cute Cafe I went to I really like this Cafe more of those oh bunch of funk put those grippers away this is very good I like him ooh this page is fun this is just like a dance routine this was another like story idea road trip to Florida more superheroes but they're all based off Florida animals they only fight people with headlines like Florida man steals dog and then do two back flips into a pool of piss there's more Carrie oh this was like a little animatic I wanted to do but again never ended up doing it oh more Kiki that just no shush a cute witch girl oh dude this was a Minecraft house I had that another character for my um concentration ation story figure drawing this was a library I went to while on vacation I'm pretty sure more house stuff for that one specific project oh these were some of my fall outfits SLE SLE Queen Slay Slay Pumpkins this is cute I like this a lot a foxes more foxes I know what you guys are going to say more hands very cool o I like these a lot there we go there's carries like mom's redesign cute sheep I like the Ducks a lot no listen I'm an art student it has to happen you know I can't just like never draw feet ever oh there she is there's my baby I really okay I really like Rose's design here this is really cute some random stuff she's so cute oh my gosh more of these I think all this was from a dream I had Lucina my my beloved them that's it number 17 dude we are we're getting close home run pretty sure this was like a Sketchbook that I did alongside other sketchbooks like I'm pretty sure I was doing the Sketchbook during the other Sketchbook as well so I kind of set up this thing for myself where every day I did five faces five bodies five hands and then five of like some other randomly selected thing and one like style study why do I choose feet for day one that's [Music] cool oh my God more breath of the wild they're so cute dude F oh my God oh my God wait these are good why did I ever stop doing that style this so cute oh more figure drawing these are cute yeah these were kind of like right before I injured my hand cuz it's been like what two almost 3 years like 2 and a half years since I injured my hand and so obviously since I've been injured I haven't improved too too much cuz I can't draw that much but so like a lot of these I'm just like wow this is really good what the heck oh more Booker so this is definitely like the start of some school work I like that one a lot that one's good she's cute what the heck lot more figure drawing stuff oh I like that one a lot L more figure drawing oh my gosh o i remember these were really fun where you just took like a marker and did like just the outfit on the model more figure drawing I need to go back to the style that's so cute well there was Sketchbook number 18 let's find the next one we are getting close first page that same D and D character you saw in like two sketchbooks ago there's more of slade oh there's another character for carry and Slade some shape language studies oh this is cute I remember this character this was one of my favorites look at her see look at that hair she's so cute oo some cool magical girl stuff this is super cool I really like this we have one of these in my house just random drawings oh this was super fun I I made this cute little like City for one of the dimensions with all these cool flying machines super super Studio gibli inspired oh this was for again another story I'd hyper fixate on for like a month at best and then drop more setting design oh there's Rose's older sister I like her a lot bunch of random Doodles see like I packed the pages way more in these older sketchbooks and it just looks so much better some Splatoon inspired characters oh these two were both for uh Carri and slate as well these were from a dream they were super cool um more F and Booker I just drew them a lot oh that one's good I like that oh she was a character for FIA and Booker's story I like her a lot Wasa my queen and that is all there it is I graduated during this stickers stickers very cute stickers my wrist started hurting the summer after I graduated I started art school that August and then like sometime during October it like got really really bad like it snapped or something I remember this was specifically for a character design turnaround if you watched my my twitch where I did a really cool uh Sketchbook tour like digital Sketchbook tour then you've seen the assignment for that and then there was this other assignment where we had to turn a cast of characters into cartoons and I chose fantastic Beast cuz I really like the first movie no other movies that need to be mentioned just the first one morphean Booker this was all from a dream I had I had this like really really funky dream also this page oh she was from a dream as well Sombra my beloved or random drawings I know we're getting close to when I snapped my hand like we we got to be oh and then like a wolver and techno like Royal Au sometime in between this and this I snapped my hand cuz these are these are left-and drawings um also even after I after my hand did like snap I kept drawing with it but at that point like obviously I was taking way more breaks cuz it would hurt so bad I couldn't pick up a pencil sometimes so I was also trying to learn left-handed and it's insane to think how much better I am now I left most of this empty I had this sketchbook for just so long after I I injured my hand I just felt like I needed a fresh start just like one of the last things I did right-handed before I before I had to learn left-handed or had to stop entirely anyway so it turns out I'm not Invincible yeah okay I'll admit this past year hasn't been the best and it's entirely my fault Luke told me the other day he remembers telling me to take a break after I said my hand hurt and I said something to the extent of no breaks I have extra work to do so yeah I'm aware I can be Beyond stupid sometimes it does suck suddenly not being able to do what I love having that taken away and knowing it's entirely my fault and it's still not over even now it hurts I just got to be careful I can't practice much over the summer and if I go back to school in the fall I'll be struggling there's no way I win right now I know it's not the end of the world it could be way worse but it still sucks for a while I got pretty sad about the whole thing uh everything in the Sketchbook is so far apart because of the injury I don't like it so I'm starting over I'm getting a new Sketchbook tomorrow or I guess later today since it's 1:00 a.m. 1:00 a.m. girl go to bed hopefully it'll be a nice New Start uh or I'll just end up doing only digital art and rarely use it I think something about watching Luca spark this I'm just praying the doctors can fix it I don't know what I'm going to do if I have to take a medical leave well I'll cry for one and then watch a lot more fils probably God I miss just being okay well as depressing as that is don't worry there is a happyish ending I wasn't wrong though I did have to take a medical leave and I did cry a lot and watched a lot more filza so however uh if you've seen my original video then you know that yeah I did take a medical leave but I've been working super hard to draw with my left and I've kind of learned that and while I'm not healed and we still don't know what's wrong and I don't know if I'll ever be fully healed I am at the point where I can draw with my right hand sometimes so it's not like it was earlier this year where I just couldn't draw at all like couldn't do anything like I said it it sucks but it's not the end of the world it it's all good and I think that might be it hey thank you so much for getting this far oh my gosh that was a long
