Matthew Boling sets national, state record in 100m

a year ago straight Jesuits Matthew bowling didn't even run the 100 meters well 12 months later he's become a household name in the event qualifying for the state tournament with a nine point nine eight time the spotlight was firmly on him with the lights shining bright here in Austin and the young man did not disappoint really fun he raided his start of B plus a - but he finished pretty strong 810 point one three time which is a new national and state mark breaking the record that was set twenty nine years ago I had a good Drive phase for like 40 meters got up got tall I felt myself pulling away and I ran really well in the 400 last year but no one really noticed and then as soon as I started running the 100 everyone's like oh we came out of nowhere I'm like I mean I ran the 400 year and what exactly has this journey been like for this senior who all of a sudden now everybody comes to watch race I definitely something I can grow my acceleration phase I think it's doing really well right now but I still think I have a lot of room to grow my start what helped him stay focused throughout this whole process well staying off social media turning off notifications on his phone I think that's advice that all of us can use the next step for bowling is going to the University of Georgia where I'm sure he's going to Electrify those crowds as well in Austin Daniel go tara KHOU 11 sports
