welcome to the oscar training video series for law school administrators and applicants this video will walk you through how to search and save positions in oscar oscar allows you to search for both law clerk and appellate staff attorney positions with tools at your disposal for narrowing the field to positions that fit your goals and interests once you have found positions that match your search you can save them an oscar to better organize and manage your application process this video will cover how to search for positions use advanced filters to narrow your search and save your searches let's begin with how to search for a position when you log into oscar as an applicant you will see your redesigned home page on the left navigation under positions click all positions this page displays all positions posted in oscar at the top of the page you will find the search positions box which allows you to search for positions using keywords such as a judge's name the city or state a specific hiring practice chambers information and more below the search box there are filters to further narrow down your search here you can select the position type the application method which includes online paper or email the judge types which include bankruptcy circuit district magistrate and special master tags which include both system and custom tags and the term start year by selecting more filters you can narrow down your search even more some filters include the clerkship term the state whether law review is preferred and your class rank [Music] now let's perform a search in this example i want to find all the available career law clerk positions with district judges in california in the search positions box type california under position type select career law clerk chambers under judge types select district judge click the search positions box oscar will display the search results please note you can also clear your search criteria by clicking the x next to the filter or clear all your positions list is now refined to display only your specified search query using your search results you can now create a saved search to do this click create saved search and provide a name for this saved search next time you log into oscar you can run the saved search without having to go through all the steps again just select save search and choose your saved search you can delete a saved search by selecting the trash icon next to the search name concludes our video on how to search and save positions we hope you have learned more about searching for positions using the advanced filters and saving searches visit the oscar training page for more videos and resources if you need further assistance please contact the oscar program office at 866 660 or send an email to oscar dash support at ao.uscourts.gov thank you for watching you
