new rules of golf this year say that on the PGA tour in a professional event you can no longer use a green reading book that was measured by some measuring device or laser measured so they know the exact break of the putt they can only use information that was obtained with the naked eye they can still have a book but they have to make that book with what they saw from their eyes and despite that the they're not putting any worse in fact you could argue statistically in a lot of ways PGA Tour Pros are putting better so what are they doing that's better than that in this video we're going to answer the question not only what are the PGA Tour Pros doing and using to read the greens how you can use the same thing let's get to it so can't use the green reading books that are laser measured and give you precise precise exact breaks and any of that anymore what are T Pros doing well some of them are still using aimo where they feel with their feet and then hold up their fingers and eyeball and measure and all of that but that's becoming less and less because there's something better and what's better is called tour read now what I'm going to do in this video is cover what tour read is how it works why it's better than aimo how you can use it and not only that also how you can get a 20% discount on a tour read subscription and by the way full disclosure I do not make a penny when you that I just went out talked to Ralph Bower who invented tour reads and negotiated a 20% discount for you that doesn't make me a penny but it'll sure help you make more putts so let's get started and talk about what exactly is tour read tour read is an app that's available in the App Store you go download it and put it on your phone it doesn't really do much for you without a subscription again there's a link in the video description on this video that'll tell you how to save 20% on t a re but it's awesome absolutely amazing how well the app works and what the app does is a number of things one it teaches you how to read greens exactly to know the precise break exactly how many inches to hit it left or right of the hole what pace to hit it which is obviously going to help you make more putts but it gives you a precise measurement which then helps you learn to do that on the greens and he gives you a formula so that you can walk out and do that legally and around without the app we're going to go through that show you how it works and show you some of that now the big difference is a lot of people use aimo and they feel with their feet and that's cool as long as your feet are able to feel the exact percentage of break my problem is when I try to learn how to use aimo so you go out and you feel with your feet and you're like all right I feel this feels like a 2% slope but I don't know if it is or not and so I'm practicing and I'm working on using aimo to read the greens and I think it's a 2% slope but I don't know so if I'm accurate did I make the right read or did I make the wrong read if I miss why did I miss I I don't know but using tour read I get the precise exact measurement and I know that I'm right on that so if I hit the put on target it goes in in other words I'm learning how to be accurate rather than guessing based on a feel for me that's way better in fact let's show you right now how tour read Works to give you that exact measurement how to use the tour read app on your phone like I said it's an app on your phone it's got instructions and I won't tell the exact specifics because that would be violating a confidence which I'm not going to do but the app tells you the instructions tell you exactly where to place your phone on the green relative to your ball and the hole then you tap on the screen and the app tells you the exact percentage of slope the break left to right the uphill the downhill you tap a second time and it locks in that read now that read is based on a distance to the hole which the app teaches you to step off with your feet and it's also based on the speed of the greens which is adjustable and you can set cool thing is the app you don't even need a step meter the app teaches you a method that you can actually go out and measure the speed of the greens now think about that for a minute the app gives you the exact slope the exact break and then if you have the tour reads part on it tells you how many inches right or left of the hole to aim and how much to adjust your pace 10% less 90% less or it's an uphill putt you hit it 34% more it gives you all that information so you learn to read the greens using that and then you can do things like what I'm going to do here in the video you set up and I have my read and then the tour read read and I see why did I miss this one what do I need to adjust how do I need to change it helps you practice so you've trained yourself using the app to get a feel for what a 2% break looks like or a 3% or a 1% or whatever you get a feel for what that looks like and feels like you're out on the course reading your green and you go okay this is a 12T putt it's got this percentage of break to the left that means I need to aim do the math in your head it takes no time it's not like you're feeling with your feet aim Point style and doing this and and figuring out how many fingers quick simple math does not slow down the game tells you where to stroke the Putt and you're doing that legally because you learn to do it with the app and you trained yourself to do it with the app all right so I've got a 15 foot foot putt here and I just looked at it and actually cameraman and I both looked at it and we decided here this pink Mark for our read we use tour read and it says this read which it says is 9 Ines to the right of the pen so let's go look and see how accurate that is and how it works first I'm going to go at my Mark or at my read and let's see how that works I hit it awfully firm took some breakout of it if I had missed the line with my read that would have gone what six or seven feet past the hole so now let's try to hit it on my line with one that'll only go 12 in past all right so that was the right speed at my mark it missed a little bit left now let's go at the Mark that tur Reed gave me which is the blue te on the outside with just enough speed to go about a foot past the hole other features in tur read that are awesome there's a seven putt warm-up routine that tightens you up using the app for the greens that you're about to play right before you play the course like I mentioned earlier there's a speed check in there that you can figure out what the speed of the greens is so that you know when you go play this round you're on the right pace and you're hitting the right speed for whatever the greens are today at this course that you're playing there's also a seven-part video series that helps you actually develop an accurate putting stroke and there's a ton more valuable features overall I think this is a great great product again I don't make a penny when you buy it but it's the best thing I found to help me learn to read greens accurately make adjustments for the different courses and I believe it'll help you make more putts be sure and check out the link in the video description that'll save you 20% on tour read be sure to tap in that easy subscribe button so you'll be notified when we put
