A 350 ml can has 14 g of aluminum, you need 71 cans to get 1 kg.
Melting them is tricky, because the sides are so thin. If you don't do it properly you end up with more dross than usable metal.
I bought a can crusher, makes the job easier.
Don't forget to factor in the deposit on the cans if you live in state that does that.

you will get better quality casting aluminum if you melt aluminum that has already been cast before. Like car wheels. Nice pile of ingots!
