hi i'm father chris aylar from the national shrine of the divine mercy and we welcome you back to our continuation of the marian congress and of the diocese of saint petersburg florida as mary welcomes you with open arms and now i will continue the next talk on marion consecration and the beautiful gift that god gives us in his mother so stay with us as we utilize all the help that god wants to give to us and we most open our hearts to receive that gift now as you saw on the title slide this talk is going to focus on what is marrying consecration and what we should do to get this gift that our lord offers now before we explain that let's look at a few things first now with all the suffering in the world it might be tempting to wonder how is god providing for us i mean it looks like there's so many struggles and pains of the world is he there is he providing for us well obviously we know he is but he provides for us in many many ways and one of the best ways is i said through the gift of his mother why well think about it what child and we are all children of god adopted children of god and we are all that could survive without a mother it's very difficult because in many ways we have god as our father jesus is our brother so we need a mother it completes a family now i know there are circumstances where sometimes you lose a mother we have a priest in our own community who lost his mother when he was just a very young infant but he fully believes that mary stepped into that role as his mother and you know this is powerful you know in the garden after the fall god promised us the gift of a mother i talked about this briefly in my last talk and then on the cross jesus actually gives us that gift this is powerful the gift of a real living mother he gave us this gift on the cross then he gave us the church he left us with the church and who's the mother of the church as i explained in my last talk mary so he gave us the gift of the church and the mother of that church to get us to heaven and since we are the church if she's the mother of that church she's the mother of us too and that's why jesus said on the cross take her into your home into your hearts that is what he meant by the cross we represent john or john represents us i guess you could say because he was giving her to humanity to all of us now jesus said to saint faustina and it's in the bible trust is the key to everything trust that's what jesus told saint faustina hurt him the most in his passion it wasn't our sins it was our lack of trust so if a lack of trust hurt our lord even more than our sins why because trust is accepting the help someone offers you what hurts the most is when we give a gift and someone doesn't appreciate it or doesn't take it or rejects it and this is what happens with mary that help he gave us through her is a gift why wouldn't we accept that you know at christmas we are happiest when we see our gifts received with joy that's the old expression it's better to give than to receive it's the same with god he loves to see his gifts received with joy not rejected why would jesus give us a gift on the cross and us reject that gift so if we trust god we'll accept this gift of mary's help right and to fully utilize the gift you consecrate to her this is powerful marrying consecration is basically dedicating yourself to jesus using the help of mary that's what it is this works because nobody knows jesus better than his own mother nobody and she can she formed jesus in the womb she can help form you too into another christ she gave him what he needed she formed him and his human nature she can form you and your human nature let's look at our slide honor thy mother we are commanded to honor our mother jesus did why would we not in catholic teaching consecration to mary does not diminish or substitute the love of god it actually enhances it for all consecration is ultimately made to god all right i said in my last talk that mary is the guy jesus is the goal kind of like a mountain climber at everest you want to see where that is let's look at our next slide advent begins a new journey may mary our mother be our guide it's not worshiping her she's getting to you where do you need to go where do we need to go jesus mary gets us there she's the guy you know i had a friend when he found out that i came or i entered into the marion fathers and became a priest he got in contact with me through the internet and he was rather surprised he said you know i just i can't worship mary and i kind of chuckled not out of disrespect but i kind of chuckled and said neither can i we don't worship mary well you pray to her to pray to does not mean to worship i said this briefly in our last talk to pray to means to ask you can say to many people this is very much in fact in the scriptures or in the um in the in the yeah the scriptures paul makes it clear pray for me why would he tell you to pray for him there's only one media we're going to talk about that in a minute we don't worship mary but she has a special role like our own mother who helped us as we said we're commanded to honor our mother so think about it when you were a kid your mother made sure everything was there for you to make sure everything even if it wasn't your biological mother sometimes another mother steps in could be a stepmother or a spiritual mother but your mother made sure everything was there she she helped you she provided for you she made sure you were dressed got off to school had a lunch god bless them many more fathers are absent than mothers you trusted her to make things happen and she came through for you this is important you need to trust god jesus i trust in you by using the tools he gives us wow jesus said as i said a second ago that what hurt him the most was not trusting and jesus told saint faustina something very interesting you all want to get to heaven yeah you wouldn't be watching this if you didn't if you want to get to heaven you need grace and jesus told saint faustina that trust is the vessel by which all grace is received so if we want to get to heaven we need grace and trust is the vessel by which all grace is received so you want to get to heaven you need trust now jesus said in giving this he wants our trust god offers us help but we have to accept it no gift goes used that is not accepted if you give me a new car but i refuse to use it the car doesn't isn't effective it sits there trust is saying yes to that gift our faith teaches us to jesus through mary saint louis de montfort he said jesus came into the world through mary so we should also go through mary as well she formed jesus in the womb as i said she can make us into another christ if we let her that is the essence of marian consecration our yes saying yes i give you permission to form me into another christ father mike quote saint louis democrats saying it's the easiest quick assurance and most perfect way to be formed into a saint why because mary formed the greatest of all jesus she can do it with you [Music] obviously we're still sinners but she provides a guidance like none other why this is interesting she can form us into a saint because of her humility the queen virtue this is why satan fears mary more than god as i told that story about wrestling because of humility to lose to be subpar to a 15 year old jewish girl was more than satan could handle when someone or something is consecrated and this is what we want to do with mary we consecrate to her it means that it is set apart by god for his exclusive use let's look at our slide the latin consecurare khan means together and sakrari means sacred so what does that mean when someone or something is consecrated it means it is set apart by god for his exclusive use the consecrae khan means together sicari means sacred so it's set aside to be holy in baptism we were set apart for the holy trinity to become holy sharing in the divine life of god we are changed forever and we were pledged to be the exclusive property of god by god that's incredible god has chosen us for a lifetime of christian holiness and this call is irrevocable that's romans 11 29 but god does not do anything in us or with us without our cooperation you got to say yes we must continually give ourselves to god to ask for and to seek holiness on a daily basis salvation is not one and only one time professed god bless our non-catholic brothers and sisters they're good christians but they say oh i was saved on july the 14th 1980 i professed jesus as my lord and savior salvation you have to work out with fear and trembling daily our we it's it's not it's not just professing it on our lips it's living it in our lives we cannot just one and only say something and have it all forever be effective daily we have to strive for holiness and to avoid sin and people don't understand that but what god does not do without our cooperation is something that we must always keep in the top of our mind it's not going to be automatic we must continually give ourselves to him on a daily basis our hope is to do this until it becomes natural for us very important when consecrated to mary she helps us to become a holy disciple as she is all right let's look at our next slide marian consecration join us what are the different forms of consecration and why should we consecrate ourselves to mary god willed that mary would have a special role in our christian lives we know this because he gave her to us as a spiritual mother on the foot of the cross i started to mention this earlier i think it's important we know that he was given jesus was given us a spiritual mother at the foot of the cross so let's look at our next slide we go to the foot of the cross where jesus looks down and sees mary and john who represents us we are represented by john the disciple and mary as our mother and jesus tells her let's look at our next slide just like joseph jesus tells john just like god told joseph son of david do not be afraid to take mary your wife into your home this is our hearts what is your home your heart well i can't take her into my home father she's no longer here on earth in human form no you take her into your heart we should do this jesus gift from the cross is the gift of his own mother and that's what mary and consecration is it's saying yes to that gift that is an offering of the greatest thing jesus could give us now that he is going back to the father the next best thing is his mother in his place he leaves us the eucharist of course he's with us real holy solely a body blood soul and divinity and some say well wait a minute father jesus offered john as a natural mother he was the youngest he didn't know how to take care of himself he needed somebody there to help him he needed a natural mother he needed somebody to cook and clean from to take care of him he was a typical young bachelor no we know this is not true why because we know from matthew 27 that john's real natural mother was actually there at the foot of the cross so jesus would not have given john mary as a natural mother when he already had one john's mom was there how do we know this because it says in matthew 27 the sons the mother of the sons of zebedee was there at the cross who are the sons of zebedee john james and john who was the mother of the sons of zebedee she was there salome there jesus is giving us not a natural mother but a spiritual mother just like he did to john and tells us to take her into the home of our hearts this is why the different consecrations are all powerful they can lead us to jesus through marriage let's look at one example this is a saint in our next slide this is the saint louis de montfort total consecration according to saint louis marie de montfort this is a common and powerful tool but as father mike gately showed let's look at our next slide he also formed 33 days to morning of marrying consecration there's a little bit easier not so many long litanies to be able to take mary into our hearts now let's watch a video of father mike gately it's just a couple minutes long but he does a great job explaining exactly what mirroring consecration is and why we need it what is marion consecration and why should you do it that's what i want to cover in the short time that we have together right now and i'm going to start backwards why should you do it before i tell you what it is why should we do it well because according to saint louis de montfort he says that total consecration to jesus through mary is the quickest easiest surest and most perfect way to become a saint now i don't know about you but i want to become a saint and i also need all the help i can get maybe you're the same way so what do we do we do the miriam consecration the total consecration of jesus through mary well what is it basically the best sort of short summary i can give of it is if we go to the foot of the cross and we look at jesus and we read john the gospel of john chapter 19 verses 26 through 27 where jesus looks down and he sees his mother at the foot of the cross and he sees john the beloved disciple who represents all of us because we're all beloved disciples of jesus and looking and seeing his mother he says woman behold your son and then to john behold your mother and the text continues that he then took her into his own home that's what marian consecration is it's a gift that jesus gives to us from the cross of of his own mother as our mother and he invites us to accept mary into our hearts as our mother and bring her into our own home and what he means by our own home means into our hearts that we share with her our joys our sorrows our hopes our fears and that we walk with mary who is always leading us to jesus and basically what the consecration is then is it's to say yes to this this invitation of jesus from the cross it's to say yes jesus i accept the gift that you give to me of mary as my spiritual mother i receive her i love her just as you love her and i will allow her to form me in holiness just as you allowed her to form you when you were a little baby and teach you how to pray in some ways so jesus thank you for it's basically saying jesus thank you for the gift of your mother and i accept it and i'll take all the help i can get and so that's the gift of marian consecration probably my favorite part about it is that it's the easiest way and what that means is we as christians will still carry the cross in our lives right that's the job of christian life is to take up our cross and follow jesus the beauty of having mary as part of our lives is she helps make the crosses into something sweet that just as our mothers when we're sick gives us medication and if it's bitter she puts honey on the spoon when we take it and it's not so bad that's what mary can do with the crosses in our life it's an incredible gift i consecrated myself to jesus through mary when i was a freshman in college and it changed my life everything changed john paul ii he consecrated himself to jesus through mary when he was 18 and he said it was a decisive turning point in his life so i invite you to make the total consecration of jesus through mary and if i may do a shameless book plug i wrote a book about it to make it easier than ever before to do the consecration it's called 33 days to morning glory and it's a 33 day preparation for miriam consecration you can get it through marion press at 1-800 for marion and i hope you'll do the consecration god bless you so this is a great explanation of marion consecration now i like to think of it in a little different way as well not different but maybe additional and i think miriam consecration is the spirituality of allowing mary to have everything you have and everything you are you entrust yourself to her and give yourself and all your spiritual merits into her hands and let her work it out all right she is the perfect what i call the prayer broker you know they they always say what is a broker a broker somebody you give your money to and you let them invest it and they multiply it right well give mary your prayers you know instead of having to write out everybody individually who you pray for and trying to think of every cousin and every neighbor and every family member it's going to be impossible for you to pray you know sometimes when i pray the rosary people's prayer intentions before the rosary take longer than the rosary itself all right so if you feel frustrated and also you just stop praying because it becomes almost and i apologize for the word but laborious that's that's not uncommon and so we want to have you have an opportunity to say you know what mary i just place everything in your hands and i think the best thing to do with that what i have found is very powerful for me is when instead of spending 20 minutes naming all the people i should be praying for my mom and my dad and my cousins and my brothers and my friends which is great but i say mariah off of this rosary into your hands please give the grace and she is the spreader of grace the mediatrix of grace to the soul i'm most obligated to pray for or the soul most in need of god's mercy and you let her give it out that way if the souls already in heaven she gives it to the next one you're most obligated to pray for that way you don't feel like you're not giving to somebody the prayers you should be because she absolutely can do that for you this is powerful she's that prayer broker i used to have to make excel spreadsheets basically when i was younger because i couldn't remember everybody i was supposed to pray to now i just put it in mary's hands she knows better than anybody who i should be praying for who i'm obligated to pray for or who's in most need of god's mercy remember like the quickest way to riches with a with a stockbroker she's the quickest surest and easiest way to holiness you give her your prayers and let her do the rest well wait a minute father i go directly to jesus i don't need all this well remember her role let's go to our next slide mary is co-redemptress and i started to mention this briefly in my last talk and i said i'll talk about it more in this one she's co-redeemer a mini co-redeemer because she gave christ his body which was the tool of redemption christ doesn't have that body that tool of redemption he redeemed us on the cross without mary who gave him that body mary remember i said the co or coomb in latin co-redeemer coomb in latin does not mean equal to but rather with so paul calls us co-workers in the vineyard with god does that mean we're equal to god no he doesn't try to say that otherwise the bible would be false let's look at our next slide this is mary mediatrix of grace remember jesus is the head we are the body but mary's the neck all grace comes from god but it passes through mary the neck to us the body it's like food does food comes from the head but it goes through the neck to the body this is powerful stuff the saints tell us mary participated in a unique way in the reception of grace by the world it is only fitting that she participates in a unique way in the distribution of grace throughout the world powerful stuff all right now does it take away from our relationship with jesus does consecration take away does jesus going to be upset no on the contrary consecration of mary heightens the depths of our commitment to christ it's a way to express explicitly that our ultimate goal and end is jesus to jesus through mary that is the goal all right let's look at our next slide as vatican 2 teaches calling upon mary's intercession quote does not hinder in any way the immediate union of the faithful with christ but on the contrary fosters it lumengencium paragraph 60. you know it's kind of funny because scott hahn when he gave our retreat a couple years ago he used the example of michelangelo and he said just think if you went back in time to a medieval art fair and there's michelangelo standing next to the pieta with his greatest masterpiece right and you went in and you went right to the pieta and you said wow this is amazing this gets me closer to god do you think michelangelo would say wait a minute i'm offended i'm offended you're paying attention to my work not me no when you honor the art you honor the artist and what who's the artist god and what's his greatest piece of masterpiece work the art mary so we don't neglect god we don't turn to mary instead of god she's the gift the art we honor the art we honor the artist and that's the next picture that's the beautiful piata that's what it is look how gorgeous that is that's an absolutely masterpiece do you think honoring that is going to discredit or offend michelangelo no you're going to look at that and say wow praise be to the artist for this incredible piece of art it's honoring the art that's what we do with mary all right by consecrating ourselves to mary she will always point us to the heart of jesus very important she will do that her will is so perfect that it differs from god's will in nothing mary's life was set aside for the sole purpose of serving our lord by following her example we can completely give ourselves to christ well why i'm going directly to god i don't need a mediator yes jesus is the only mediator of the father but we've got to get to jesus there's many ways to jesus you can come to jesus through your neighbor you could come to jesus or your church especially you come to jesus through the bible you can come to jesus many ways but there's such a powerful way given through his mother she knows him better than anybody even better than the gospel writers she spent all 33 years with him the gospel writers didn't two of them didn't at all only john and matthew now father jesus is the only mediator yes in proclaiming christ as the one mediator in 1st timothy 2 5 and 6 the text of saint paul's letter to timothy excludes parallel or equal mediation but not subordinate a mediation in fact before emphasizing the one exclusive mediation of christ paul said in chapter 2 verse 1 supplications prayers intercessions and thanksgivings should be made for all men wait a minute are not prayers a form of mediation i hope you've never prayed for anybody if you don't believe in this because then you're a mediator oh no no jesus is the only mediator well wait a minute have you ever prayed for somebody well yeah my mom when she was sick then you're a mediator but you're not the mediator jesus is the mediator now the greek word used for one that saint paul used in that first timothy chapter 2 6 is one mediator is not monos which is the greek word which would mean soul all right all right this is here i'm sorry i said that wrong it is one mediator it's not monos which would mean soul but yes e-i-s which would mean one in the sense of maine or principle or first in a series so god uses in the scriptures the word one mediator this is true but there's two types of mediators there's monos which would mean soul or the only one paul doesn't use that paul uses eis which means main or primary or first in a series but it doesn't mean that there can be subordinate ones so jesus is the principal mediator who enables many other sub-mediators to transmit the grace of god to others he did it with the apostles why then if he's the only one did he have and teach the apostles how to heal and say mass again faithful christians we act as submediators in christ when we pray for our neighbors or our loved ones when we share the gospel with those who are lost or serve the suffering and the oppressed we become sub-mediators you know this is powerful because we have in it a gift you know i want to give you a quote and i want to tell you if you know who said this quote well you know what before i do that let me tell you a story i think this is a good fitting story of something that happened to me that shows the power of marrying consecration or i should say devotion to mary not as god but as a helper there was a story by a priest by the name of father stephen shire and father steven shire was a priest that by his own admission was not a good priest let's take a look at the slide this is a picture of father steven shire all right this is a priest called to judgment and the story is amazing now what happened steven schreier was a priest out in the midwest oklahoma or somewhere and stephen shire was a as i said by his own admission not a good priest he admitted that he was not praying [Music] he was not doing his divine office he stated that he didn't give the truth to people because he wanted to be liked he stated that he told people what they wanted to hear that's danger for a priest please do not attack your priest when he teaches the truth because you don't like it the truth is the truth and so this priest basically was living this life away from god and in fact ironically if i remember correctly i think he was in going home from one of those parties he said all he lived for was the next cocktail party or sporting event and as he was going in transit he was struck by another vehicle and he was thrown from the vehicle i don't remember if he went through the windshield or out the door but he was lying there on the pavement he said he was dying and as he was gasping his last breath he made it clear that he could only muster the strength to utter one hail mary and as he was laying on the road he said the hail mary prayer the paramedics got there his vital signs had stopped and they began to work on him and defibrillators or whatever it was giving him oxygen and heart shock and all of a sudden after a few minutes they got his vital signs back he began to have a heartbeat he began to breathe and they rushed him to the hospital they saved his life all the word got out and the local churches even the non-catholic churches were open and people were praying for this man and he began to heal and so when he began to heal he started to slowly and surely get back into ministry then one day i don't remember how long later maybe a year or so he was celebrating mass and in celebrating mass he was reading that passage about the fig tree the fig tree that bore no fruit and he said that as he read that passage and remember that passage the owner of the land says cut this tree down it bears no fruit it's just taking up the nutrients of the good soil it's a waste get rid of it and the assistant said please master wait i'll cultivate it i'll fertilize it i'll water it i believe it will bear fruit but if it doesn't your will be done i'll chop the tree down i'll get rid of it but please give it another chance and the master the vineyard did and as father stephen shires reading the story he said the words of the page actually floated of this gospel passage and he had instant recollection of exactly what happened that night you see what happened on that night is he actually did die he actually went before the judgment throne of christ and he says it's like you exactly here your whole life flashes before your eyes he says it's very true you see everything you've done good and bad and he said he could not see our lord it was black he didn't behold the beatific vision but he could hear our lord jesus who is our judge saying to him what his life had been and he said you can't lie before god he said all you could say was yes lord yes lord now what's interesting about this was how i saw this story and i'll finish it in a moment but how i saw this story was i was down at ewtn praying right before i became a marian in april 2006. and i went down there to do a final retreat to see am i called to be a priest am i called to be a marian of the immaculate conception and i was praying in the main church there at ewtn mother angelica in her temple there and the monastery and i came out and if you've ever been to ewtn it's it's like a big courtyard it's like the vatican it's a cobblestone and you could see anybody coming from far wide and i remember i was walking by myself i was staying with a group of young men called the knights of the holy eucharist and these were guys who were appointed by mother angelica to take care of the grounds around the shrine and they would do manual work like cutting their lawn and raking and whatnot and i was staying with these guys but they were all out of the house on work detail i happened to be praying at that time i wasn't one of them i was staying with them so i'm praying and i'm coming back to the house and as i'm walking there all of a sudden is a man next to me and he's telling me or asks me chris are you enjoying your stay and i didn't know who it was but i didn't want to be rude so i just said yes i'm enjoying it very much and he held up a vhs remember the days of vhf videotape he says chris can i show you this tape now remember i was down there i had no real devotion to mary i thought i was going to become a priest and had no devotion to mary of any significance i mean i said my hail mary's but no real significant devotion to mary and this man holds up this vhs tape he says can i show you this tape he says are you heading back to the house to the knights of the holy eucharist ah he must be one of the knights of the holy eucharist i thought so he takes me back to the house where i was staying and he goes right up the stairs makes a left and goes into the tv room that's where the tv room was at the time and he pops this tape in and this is the show of mother angelica that was playing that day or that he had a recording of and remember mother angelica when she began every show she always began with laughing or joking not this show she began very serious conversation and she said you all need to hear this story every one of you and it was the story i'm telling you now of steve father stephen shire this priest who was in this accident went before the judgment throne of god and i left off at the part where jesus was showing him his life before his eyes now i'm watching it because this man whoever this man was popped in the tape and we're alone up there the two of us in this room watching this tape and all of a sudden stephen shire is explaining i tell you you could look at his face on this show of mother angelica live that was the show he was on telling the story and you could instantly see this man was telling the truth there was no question about it and so as he finishes and he gives this account i'm fixated and he gives this account and i'm fixated on his story and he says you can't lie before god all you could say is i know so jesus says you didn't do this you didn't do that you weren't praying the office you weren't teaching the truth and he all he said as i could say was yes lord then he said what he was guilty of some very bad sins and he said yes lord and after our lord finished with him our lord said your sentence is hell i remember the chill that went down my spine i'll never forget it i remember sitting there dumbfounded well wait a minute jesus doesn't send anybody to hell no when jesus said your sentence is hell his answer was i know he had chosen that we choose it and so he said he was on the verge of damnation and all of a sudden this voice out of nowhere says my son please give him another chance just like that fig tree passage and she says my son give him another chance i believe he will bear fruit and father stephen scheier said you couldn't see anything you could just hear this most angelic most beautiful female voice saying my son my son please give him another chance he said but mother he's been a priest for 12 years and he's been a priest for nobody but himself oh man pray for your priests still scares me and so jesus said but mother he's been a priest for nobody not for me but himself and she says yes son but please give him another chance i bear he will be bear fruit if he does not your will be done it's like that passage cut the tree down i believe it'll bear fruit but if it doesn't i agree with you your will be done cut it down and instantly he came back to life and he said jesus said before that when mary said i believe he will bear fruit please give him another chance jesus said okay mother he's all yours and basically mary took him under her mantle and he said until then yes mary has i have been hers and it's interesting because he came back to life and he began this ministry again a different man totally changed but there was something that bothered me about that story and as that man that showed me the tape finish he took the tape out and he said chris i just wanted you to see this i know for a fact the reason was because i needed a devotion to mary and that changed everything for me and so this man left and by the way he said his name was joseph and nobody in the knights of the holy eucharist i think i i can't remember the details but he left and i never saw him again could it have been saint joseph i don't know but anyway it bothered me for many many months and i came to the marions i became a postulant and i was living in steubenville ohio and one night i was up working on some stuff and it was raining and i'd always been bothered by the fact wait a minute where was the mercy of god we could see the mercy of mary mary came to the aid of this soul why not god why didn't jesus do that why didn't jesus say i'll give you a second chance and it always bothered me because it was easy to see the mercy of mary but where was the mercy of god and i struggled with that also one night i'm at the house as a postulate and the marian fathers and the doorbell rings and i opened up the door and there's a guy in a habit he says i'm brother so-and-so hello father don callaway said i could stay here tonight and i looked at him and i instantly recognized he was part of the intercessors of the lamb this was father stephen shire's religious community and i said oh my goodness you're part of the intercessors of the lamb he said yeah and i said father stephen shire do you know him he says of course i said he said can i come in it was raining i was like oh yeah sorry so he comes in and i said brother i gotta ask you in that it was easy to see the mercy of mary but where was the mercy of god why didn't father stephen shire point out why wasn't it god the game a second chance he says oh he did say but you may have not heard it or you know i've talked to him since then and i know the story he said because you know what he said father stephen said my whole life could have been different if i just would have asked for god's mercy i never asked for god's mercy i wasn't even believing in the sacraments he said and he said that mary was that gift given by god she's almost now this is not church teaching this is my own opinion it's almost like mary is god's own loophole to his own justice god is justice and mercy and when his mercy is to be given he'll shower it but when he is in a position where he can't because his justice demands it did you never ask for it i believe mary is god's own loophole to his own justice because that mercy that came that night in his judgment came from god through mary mary comes from god and so the grace didn't come from mary the mercy didn't come from mary it came through mary that mercy came from god but mary met god's justice because she makes constant intercession before the throne of god so if you go to mary you actually she will appease god's justice so even if we fail mary won't so she was able to appeal to god's justice by interceding for him praying for him and that meant god's justice you know why she could because he uttered one simple hail mary father steven shire said if mary could do that for me by uttering one simple hail mary on the road when i was dying that she came to the aid of my soul remember pray for us now and at the hour of our death he's on the road praying this prayer pray for us now and at the hour of our death that's the hail mary prayer she did she came at the hour of his death he said do you think if mary did that for me by uttering one hail mary when i didn't even really have a full devotion to her what could she do for you if you actually had a devotion to her that's incredible what could mary do for you if you actually had a devotion to her she actually aided in the salvation of the soul she doesn't save him she the grace doesn't come from her but she is an intercessor like the queen mother that we talked about in the bible and you know one final thing i want to say on this i was giving a talk once in wichita kansas and i actually was telling this story about father stephen shire and you won't believe it guess who walked in to the conference to hear confessions father stephen shire here i am it was the most surreal thing ever that would be like you having somebody tell your life story on a stage and you walk in i mean the guy i was like oh my goodness like father steven shire i'm telling your story you want to come up here and anyway he was here he was there to hear confessions and i waited to the very end for him to hear my confession and he told me he said just remember one thing the trinity cannot say no to mary now god rest his soul he's passed on since then but i bet his second judgment was totally different he said the trinity cannot say no to mary this is awesome so have that devotion she helped me you have a devotion she'll help you this is the power of marrying consecration it is devotion entrustment to mary you're putting yourself to get her to take you to jesus all right so that being said i want to finish with one quote and then i want to ask you if you know who that quote was here's the quote we'll finish with quote we are all children of mary mary is the mother of jesus and the mother of us all if christ is ours his mother is also ours she the lady above heaven and earth here passes the woman who was raised far above all women a deed above the whole human race no woman is like unto thee thou the woman art more than an empress or a queen blessed above all nobility wisdom and saintliness who said this let's show our last slide martin luther this is why the protestant reformation never intended to throw mary into the gutter something happened along the way don't drop mary she is the way to jesus to jesus through mary not instead of jesus jesus is the only way to the father but we got to get to jesus and there's no better way than his mother that is what marian consecration is god bless all of you for joining us on this awesome marian congress of saint petersburg florida and with welcome open arms mary will welcome you go to her and through her intercession may almighty god bless you the father the son and the holy spirit amen
