I'm so honored that you would clap for me or stand up for me but how many people understand that I did not down across for you or for any of your sins so how about this if you love Jesus tonight if Jesus is the center of your life if you are grateful for the King of Kings for the Lord of lords how about you get up out of your seat with no band with no worship team and offer unto God a sacrifice of praise in this place hallelujah jeez I don't know if anybody's ever seen Toy Story 424 is one of the best movies of all time I'm not gonna confess that I cried during Toy Story 4 because I'm a thug and thugs don't cry but I don't know if you remember this because here's the deal if you've watched Toy Story 4 just wash your hands how many people watch Toy Story 4 come on oh come on there we go hands all over the room one of my favorite things about Toy Story 4 is that the little girl she digs into the trash and she finds a little sport and she finds some ribbon and she puts it together right any teammates a toy out of trash a toy out of trash and every now and again the toy that used to be trash keeps trying to hop back into the trash because the ingredients that made the toy comes from the trash and sometimes when God reached into the trash to make you every time you try to hop back to a party or hop back to your weed smoking friends the god that reached into the trash originally to create you has to then put his name on you and you go from trash into a treasure I wonder if there's anybody in the room today who can go you know what I'm so glad that God reached into the trash of what city I come from or the trash of my family and God pulled me out of whatever filth my life had been surrounded with and every so often we forget that we're no longer trash oh I wish somebody could be honest on a Sunday night we forget that just because God found us at a party that that doesn't mean that that's the environment that I belong in anymore si si si I love God the reason that I love God I remember me and my wife we were flying in to Portland Oregon and we're flying into Portland who's somebody from Portland let's go we're flying in to Portland Oregon and my wife said that she said I feel like Portland's gonna have some good drifting vibes she's like I just feel like Portland's giving me good thrifting vibe anybody like to go thrifting in the room anybody likes to go thrifting my wife loves going to thrift shops I do not enjoy thrifty because every thrift shop has like the same smell I don't know how they get the same smell it's like when you put a bunch of people's old clothes together you get the same exact smell it's almost like let's go thrifting I'm like I'm going to Zara and she goes and she finds stuffing and it's funny because later that day I was worshipping I was in the I was at the bathrooms of the showers worshipping and my wife I can't sing at all like demons flea what I sing but not because I'm anointed because I sound that bad and she started laughing at me while I was singing and I was like yo don't be laughing at my praise homie like I really loved Jesus and she was like babe it's so cute when you sing it's so bad but it's so cute like it's so ugly but it's so cute like I don't even understand how to describe it to you like you're so cute oh my god but you sound terrible just stop and she's like babe why do you just randomly burst out into song and I said you know how like when we flew into Portland you wanted to go to the thrift shop because you thought that you could find some old stuff and make it new again yeah yeah yeah God didn't find me at H&M God didn't find me at Zara God didn't find me at the mall God reached through some bins to find me God walked into some environments that he shouldn't have even been in God had to withstand the smell of the filth that had surrounded my life maybe you're perfect so you don't know what I'm talking about but maybe there's some people in the room that you got saved somewhere and you saw the light somewhere and there's no reason as to why God should have even been attracted to you see you smoothie and uppity you've been saved your whole life but there's about 15 people who can remember what you was doing last week you can remember who you were last month and you can realize you know what God didn't pick me up off the shelf oh no God got into a bed and he saved me and so I will give God like undignified praise crazy praise like ugly praise like I got to go to the bathroom and like clean myself up after I praise because this is a God who has rescued me from the pit he's rescued me from all my filth he's looked into the trash and he just grabbed me and he's redefined me giving me an identity I don't know if that's anybody's testimony in here tonight I'm so happy to be here I'm all the way I come all the way from North Carolina North Carroll a key is my home state and I'm so glad to be in Tulsa I feel like I'm at home man Youth Fest can anybody just make some noise for no reason just no reason there we go there we go um I want to share something with you that you may not have noticed I'm black that's right I'm black any black folks in the room and the black folks in the room there we go there we go any Hispanic people in the room awesome awesome any white folks in the room there we go thought I saw a couple of y'all I'm black I'm black all day every day it's not just like a weekend thing all right and so that means I grew up preaching of black churches okay I grew up preaching with black folks and when you preach at a black church there's no confusion as to whether or not you're doing a good job or a bad job it's abundantly clear whether or not this is tanking or whether or not this is going exceedingly and abundantly well typically at a black church the mothers of the churches sitting in this section right over here okay and if it's going bad everybody say bad if it's going bad like I mean your jokes ain't funny you you misquote it a Bible verse or two like I mean like it ain't revelatory like you stole the sermon off youtube like this is just terrible right like one of the mothers of the church if you're doing a bad job ever I say bad doing a bad job one of the church mothers that are sitting over here typically got a little doily on their head all right one of the church mothers over here praise God for the doilies all right one of the church mothers will pop up out of a seat and say helping Holy Ghost as to which at that point you almost want to agree like yes Holy Ghost help me right now teleport me somewhere else give me another sermon give me the ability to sing whatever you got to do help me however is funny because you could be at that same black church in that same black church mama if you're doing a good job I mean your jokes is here in I mean you quoted your Bible verses right I mean you have laid a table and people are feasting and the food in the meal of the Lord I mean you're doing a good job that's a church mama that saying church mom will stand up like you better rich boy that saint-charles Hey amen amen here's my favorite got Sam tricked mama will say this man when anybody realized that youth ministries succeed or fail because there's a vision at the top of the house for youth ministry and so man we honor a pastor we honor the Daugherty's and we honor them tonight and and I think pastor Paul's like preaching like right for the conference I'm can't wait to be in session cuz like he's like the whole senior pastor most senior pastors wouldn't even put this on their calendar the fact that your senior pastor has put this on his calendar is an amazing deal and Nick we just clap it up for the amazing leadership of this house and a lot of times we want to honor ourselves and humble others but the Bible say to humble yourself and honor others and so I think we should honor my friend pastor Sam and Renee Grasso like I love you guys this is incredible this is year one what are you gonna do next year like this is insane this is amazing in man thank you guys so much I don't think everybody knows all the sacrifice that goes into pastoring and preaching and in leading young people and so anytime you you know one of your pastors gets on your heart how about you buy them a good Starbucks drink how about that all right because it's not easy pastoring and so I honor you thank you for having faith thank you for having vision thank you for having a spirit of excellence I love you so much and it is very mutual you are one of my best ministry I'm in the right place then okay let's go to the book of Judges we're gonna go to judges chapter 16 judges chapter 16 everybody say judges chapter 16 judges chapter 16 if you're an AP honors Christian okay I'm gonna give you both passages at the same time you can put a streamer in your Bible or you can bookmark it and you version you can go over to the next passage once we're done reading judges chapter 16 we're gonna read Matthew chapter 16 okay so once we're done reading judges chapter 16 we're gonna read Matthew chapter 16 and and here we go judges chapter 16 verse 4 says this if anybody remembers from camp France I'm a participatory reader and so if I ever trail off or stop reading that's your turn to fill in the blank in the word where I did not say okay so we gonna have fun all right judges chapter 16 verse 4 it says some time that was like 17 ago we gonna do that one more time okay some time he the he in the passage is a man named Samson everybody say Samson Samson Samson fell in love with a woman in the valley of Sorek whose name was uh we already know how to story in Delilah is a problem Delilah is a little love seductress you don't say like Delilah ooh Delilah is like hot girls summer you know I'm saying like all year you know I'm saying Delilah anyway the rulers of the Philistines went to Delilah and said this see if you can lure Samson into showing you the come on the of his great and how we can overpower him so that we may tie him up and subdue him okay can we stop and just can I can I explain what's going on real quick the Philistines they hate Samson because every time Samson gets into a battle with the Philistines I mean Samson is like a Philistine destroying machine Samson at one point gets the jawbone of a donkey and kills thousands of Philistines I mean Samson is like that dude like Samson's like that dude you ain't trying to roll up on like Samson's dad dude you ain't trying to pick a fight with like Samson's that dude we're like if he hits on your girl you're just kind of like okay I'm trying to fight you today you know I'm saying like and so the Philistines I want you to get this because the Philistines are the enemy of Samson but the enemy does not attack Samson directly the enemy uses a woman to distract Samson from his destiny see see see a lot of you think that Satan is going to show up at your doorstep with the with the pitchfork in horns to tempt you but most times Samson Samson does not encounter the enemy face on what the enemy does is he gets a Delilah into your life see the enemy will find someone that you trust to influence you negatively then we all got Delilah's that's let's not lie and I love this because the Philistines they go to Delilah and they're like here here you know we gotta figure out the secret if I say secret of Samson's strength because every time we get on the battlefield with him he destroys us utterly and how we can overpower him so that we may tie him up and subdue him each one of us will give you 1,100 of silver we're gonna keep on reading here we go judges chapter 16 verse 6 so Delilah said to Samson tell me though of your grape and how you can be tied up and subdued we're gonna go to Matthew chapter 16 we're gonna go to Matthew chapter 16 Matthew chapter 16 verse 21 okay so we're gonna remember everything we read in judges now we're gonna go over to the book of Matthew here we go it says this remember whenever I trail off you pick up where I stopped reading it says from that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to and suffer many things at the hands of the elders the chief priests and the teachers of the and that he must be come on that he must be and on the third day raised to life here's Rick is funny here we go Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him now you bold if you rebuking Jesus you know I'm saying like Peter like come on bro imagine Peter like come here Jesus no you're wrong I rebuke thee I rebuke vast in the name of while you never Lords he said this shall never happen to you Jesus turned and said to Peter realize this Peter one of his best friends Peter a disciple that's been rolling on him for three years Peter they're close Peter this is his boy but see Jesus understands what Sampson did not understand Jesus understands that Satan will use the people closest to you to negatively influence you see what Jesus understands is that I cannot let a Delilah slip into my life so Jesus looks Peter dead in his face and says get behind me Satan I know we boys but right now the enemy is speaking through you I know we cool but right now Satan is using you to try to distract me from my destiny I know we love each other I know you got my back I know this but bro if I let's say and speak through you and I let you speak negatively over my life then I will never be able to fulfill my god-given destiny si si si okay I'm gonna step on some toes real quick sometimes we can be so nice oh okay here we go we let Jonah stay on our boat because we think that if Jonah is not on our boat then Jonah will never be saved so you keep people in your life who are triggering your anxiety and there's a storm breaking out in your life and Jonah is saying why about you throw me overboard and you refuse to throw Jonah overboard because you have a Messiah Complex but not even the Messiah had on the site Jesus had enough self-respect to say Peter I know we've been rolling together Peter I know we eat together Peter I know we boys but right now say is talking through you and I am not about to die because you are disobeying God I'm not about to harbor a fugitive on my boat you're either gonna get with the program or we can't be cool here's what I love here's what I love ready for this I got no yeses here's what we do we keep Jonah on our boat because we think we can save Jonah but as long as you keep Jonah on your boat God can never send the whale God can never send the whale that's actually meant to notes write this down the title my message tonight is the secret to your strength the secret to your strength Jesus I thank you that you're already in the room God your word says where two or three are gathered together in your name there you are in God you don't come with a portion of yourself you come into the room with the totality of your presence which means peace is here which means joy is here and God it also means victory is here God we declare that victory Youth is prophetic that everyone who feels like they're not winning every time they say I'm a part of victory Youth God they begin the you get more victory in every area of their life god we thank you that you're here so god we can't preach without you so god I ask that you would stand on this pulpit with me god I ask that you would open every deaf ear that God that you would open every blind an eye and then you would soften every hard heart right now in Jesus name God we don't want anybody leaving today saying pastor Manny preached a great word we want everyone leaving today saying the Holy Spirit spoke to me in a deep place God changed us forever more in the matchless name of Jesus we pray come on and we all said together I love the story of Sampson I love the story of Samson ever since I was a little kid Samson has been one of my favorite stories in the Bible however I've got to teach you a little something before I can preach something to you everybody say teach so I got teach you a little something don't care of me teaching you a little something who's okay me teaching a little something okay see I cannot just preach hype to you because we're on the brink of a generation that is biblically illiterate which means I cannot just preach for you to be happy I've got to teach you something so how many people get down to learn something tonight you're down to learn some tonight you like pastor Manny as long as you say it kind of cool I'm gonna learn okay the book of Judges we have to put the story of Samson everybody say Samson in context of the book of the Bible we find him in and the book of Judges if I say judges has a consistent theme the book of Judges is a biblical book about how God uses the weak things of the world to shame the strong how God uses the only things of the world to shame the proud how God uses those things that are foolish in man's eyes to shame those things that have that have been exalted anybody realize this that the whole book of Judges is about people who should not be called by God who should not be recipients of God's grace but God uses them in spite of their flaws failures and weaknesses I wish I could tell you about all of the judges cuz judges is one of my favorite books of the Bible I wish I could tell you about giddy and everybody said Gideon I wish I could tell you about usnea everybody say I feel I wish I'd see all them fun Bible names I wish I could tell you about Jeff oh I wish I could tell you about all of the judges but you know what we gotta keep it brief okay I'm gonna tell you about a couple of judges anybody say ok let's go let's go let's go let's go let's go let's go I'm gonna tell you about a couple of the judges so that we can understand the story of Samson and we can put the story of Samson in con text one of the first judges we got to talk about is a man named he would anybody say e come on e hood even we got talk about a heard because he heard was a left-handed man the bible says 'i heard was a left-handed man on my left-handed folks come on throw your left hand in the air come on and wave it like you just don't care if you're a left-handed person you can identify with this man named eagle however in biblical times in the ancient Near East culture that we find the Bible to be left-handed was to be deformed it meant that you were dysfunctional and when someone started to become left-handed they would try to train you to become right-handed because to be left-handed was seen as what deformed weird and dysfunctional so when the Bible says that he thought was a left-handed man the Bible is saying that he would is seen as someone that has a physical deformity which means that he has a weakness which does not allow for him to be used in leadership he's disqualified he's disrespected he's disregarded however I want to let you know that II hood had an assignment to kill the enemy that had been torturing the people of Israel the king that had been put in leadership over the people of Israel was a Philistine king his name was a glum and this is what he had done did I love this because for everyone who was right-handed they would have put their spear they would have put their weapon on their left thigh because with your right hand you can grab a weapon on your left thigh however because he hoodwinked I and so when he would got strip-searched before he went seeing the king they searched his left thigh but guess what he was hiding a weapon on the thigh that would have only been available to somebody who had a deformity who had a weirdness who has something that should have disqualified them so he hood is able to slip past enemy lines with his weapon undetected in a hood grabs his weapon and kills the king that was the enemy of Israel because sometimes the thing that is your deformity is the very thing that God uses to bring glory into your life I wonder if there's anybody who's been disrespected looked over passed over people don't think much of you but baby you don't need to be mad because the moment you don't think much of me is the moment I can sneak attack you it's the moment you don't see me coming okay I got to tell you about another person I gotta tell you bout another person everybody say we ready I got to tell you about a judge named Deborah Deborah CCC I'm glad that right now we're in a church that admires and loves female leadership because we need women come on we need women on stage we need women teaching we need women preaching we need women leading come on and if you're in room and you're a young person we believe that even if you're a female come on that means you're cold baby like come on we need your gift we need your voice however in biblical times to be a woman meant that you sit help have babies wife so Deborah was odd to be the leader of Israel it did not make sense it was countercultural it was swimming upstream since you see sometimes we we don't realize that when we read the Bible it's a cross-cultural experience and we can bring our culture into the culture of the Bible we have to step into the culture of the Bible and begin to appreciate it based on its terms and in the biblical text to be a woman did not mean that you were a warrior princess like Xena okay but Deborah rises to leadership and because Deborah rises to leadership it inspires all these other women to take leadership roles in the place of Israel I love this because Deborah is fighting against a king that's been oppressing the people of Israel his name is Sisera and Deborah like this okay Deborah chases Sisera Deborah a woman is chasing this dude named Sisera and Sisera is scared of Deborah so Sisera is running for his life okay Sisera is running away from Deborah and Sisera because he doesn't respect women how ironic is this he does not respect women but he's running away from one Sisera runs into attempt by a woman named Jael a by say Jael I like jlk she gangsta okay you don't know her right now but you about to know her like the next two minutes Sisera runs into the tent owned by a woman named Jael and because Sisera did not respect women Cicero's up in the tent and says how about you make me something to eat and get me something to drink see all the women come on you you could say boom Sisera starts to relate to jl based on his cultural expectation of her limitations cicero felt i need you to get this i did you to get this Sisera felt so comfortable with jl that Sisera thought it was a good place to take a nap after jl gave him some milk after Jo gave him some food homeboy lay down and took a little nappy nap jl was like you messed with the wrong one today jl grabs a tent peg and a hammer puts the tent peg up against his temple while he's taking a little nappy nap and then pounds the hammer onto the tent peg and kills him in an instant see you ain't readin your bible the bible is better than TMZ I promise you some of y'all like that's in the Bible yes that's in the Bible here we go if Sisera had esteemed JL she would have never been able to kill him if Sisera respected her she would have never been a threat to him and see so often you're mad at everyone who gossips about you you're mad at people who don't esteem you you're angry at the people who don't respect you but guess what you don't understand that your weakness is the secret to your strength the very thing that is a deformity the very thing I'll come on they said black people couldn't do it but then you showed up like ina statistic the Spirit of the Living God is on me he said a woman couldn't do it but then you stepped onto the scene and you proved everybody wrong see if everyone had respected you you would have never been able to surprise everybody see see see our ego wants the accolades but at some point we have to realize it is okay to fly under the radar don't think much of me that's okay because while you are disregarding me because I okay can I tell you a little story I'll tell you a little story gotta tell you story yeah yeah okay I'll tell you a little story my dad served an 18 year prison sentence my dad is an immigrant from Cuba all of my uncles are incarcerated three of my aunts are prostitutes all of my cousin's have been incarcerated so so so when a generational curse has been in your family for that long the devil stops looking in that family for anything it's the equivalent of the people saying can anything good come out of Nazareth because when people stop looking at Nazareth that's where the Messiah is always going to come from and so the devil stopped paying attention to arraign goes so when I turned 13 and I grab the microphone and I saw a preacher for the first time the enemy called the board meeting in hell and was like now what happened that we let in a Rango slip by we've had a rain goes in our power for generations and the demons was like well we stopped paying attention to arraign goes because the moment the devil stops paying attention to you is your opportunity to use your deformity for the power and glory of God can I get an amen in church so now we understand that there is always a secret to your strength there is a to your come on say that loud there is a to your I love this because now we can talk about Samson no no okay can anybody relate to me when I think about Samson I like Shaquille O'Neal anybody with me like I picture like seven foot two I picture like bralette like I picture like like like like you can just flex your chest muscles you don't say it like I picture like you can just benchpress me you know like like I picture I picture like the biggest dude on the football team I picture like the person who's just mad muscular mad hall mad big for no reason taking up mass space always sweating need a sweat towel but don't use one always smell like Axe body spray because they play on every sports team like I just picture the most like like big huge like why you take up mass seats on the airplane like that kind of person right anybody with me that's what you picture when you picture Samson that's what you picture okay okay okay okay okay but if Samson was big and if Samson was physically intimidating if Samson was a formidable presence then why were the Philistines asking about the seek the secret of his strength if if his strength came from an obvious place then the Philistines would have never been confused or referenced his strength as a thing of secrecy which means Samson probably look like me me and Kevin Hart see what the Philistines are saying when they say Delilah we need you to figure out the secret of his strength what they're saying is what we see with our physical eye does not match the results that we're able to see see see see when your teachers think you got ADHD that's your chance to prove them wrong see see see when people label you with all kinds of learning disabilities that's your chance to actually prove them wrong you see when people count you out that is your chance to actually show them that God can use anybody see when people don't think much of you when people disrespect you when people put statistics and labels on you that is actually an opportunity for God to start showing off his power in your life see the Philistines are like wait wait wait wait this scratching their heads like now notice don't make no kind of sense how he do that these things don't go together he killing all of us what's the secret so they get Delilah to find the secret to his strengths can we go a little deeper give it a little bit I need a little bit more can we go a little bit deeper okay here we go because Samson is anointed I'm about to step on some toes oh you can get a pedicure tomorrow promise Samson is anointed the angel of the Lord appears the Samson's parents before he's even born like he has a purpose he has destiny he's anointed and I want to prophesy over your life you are anointed by God see anointing is not just for leading worship and preaching if there's an anointing on your life to be an influence or hello then that's an anointing if there's an anointing on your life like to be a youtuber that's an anointing if there's an anointing on your life for a law if there's an anointing on your life for politics if there's an anointing on your life to go into the education field that is an anointing the anointing is the thing that is easy for you but it's difficult for other people you are anointed by God here's the hard thing the enemy cannot take away your anointing but the enemy can send you an appetite that makes you destroy your own anointing and so how ironic is it that Samson is anointed to kill Philistines but got a taste for Philistine women it's real hard to destroy the factory when you kind of like some of the stuff the factory be making yeah a taste taste because some of us were anointed but we got hepatitis we got appetites for stuff that's gonna kill the anointing on your life see see see for some of us okay okay okay okay you've dated so many dysfunctional dudes that now you in church and you like pastor Sam these dudes is boring it's like not a boo-boo they ain't boring you just used to arguing and fightin you used to drama and gossip you used to so much dysfunctional that now that you got normal you think is something weird about it and God is like I've gotta cleanse your palate because the problem is not the meal the problem is the appetite you develop before you got here oh oh I'm coming for your life because we're some okay okay okay for some of these dudes in the room for some of these dudes in the room guess what you're never gonna have an appetite for marriage because marriage requires monogamy let me break down monogamy monogamy means being with one woman only forever and that's it lockdown committed me you but every website you go on that features pornography trains you for polygamy so see you got an appetite some of us we got an appetite for unforgiveness we eating that meal but yeah I hate you ain't never talking to you again some of it you got an appetite for anger I'll cuss you out in a heartbeat feel good all them customers come on my mouth he in taste real good see Delilah comes in all types of forms and for some of us we have an appetite for something that is the antithesis of the anointing on our life you are anointed to kill Philistines but you have an appetite for something that is killing the purpose and destiny of God on your life see see see ok I'll say it this way I'll say this way anybody in the room like me you love orange juice I love orange juice I love orange juice like I I cannot describe to you how much I love orange juice I'm passionate about orange juice like in my life there's Jesus there's my girl Tia that's my wife and in this orange juice I love Horus juice come on anybody we like like like orange juice is the best juice you can mix orange juice for anything you can mix orange juice of Red Bull you can mix orange juice for just about anything I love orange juice I love orange juice my wife be buying like Sam's Club gallons orange juice Costco size like MADD orange juice four days go by ain't no more juice left I'll kill some orange juice but has anybody ever made the mistake of brushing your teeth before you drink orange juice anybody ever make the mistake of brushing your teeth or using some Listerine or something or or chewing some gum or something and then and then and then drinking orange juice because something that is supposed to be delicious becomes disgusting based on what was in your mouth before you put the orange juice in there and for some of us you can hardly worship cuz drink is all on your tongue what you put on your tongue before you get in here is ruining your appetite you don't got a taste for no Bible you don't get a taste for the word of God you don't get a space for holiness you don't got a taste for nothing all you want is the appetite that's killing the anointing of God on your life and Sampson is anointed but sadly got a taste for the wrong stuff and at some point God gets into your life and like the people of Israel he starts giving you manna oh and in numbers the people of Israel they start complaining all we eat is this manner boo-boo the manna it's a miracle everyday it falls from heaven you even got to work and in numbers they say this we miss the food we used to eat we need you to fish the cucumber's the leeks onions garlic and here's the best part we used to eat all the food and it was free free you was a slave ain't it crazy though how you can remember something and it not really be accurate let you get lonely on Valentine's Day you start remembering that dude that was the cause of all your insecurities and anxieties but what the enemy does is the enemy magnifies all the romantic moments and makes you get amnesia on all the pain he calls you and at some point you need a friend or a pastor to sober you up and say are you talking about Tyrone are you talking about the dude that made you not even believe in yourself are you talking about the dude that cheated on you are you really talking about nasty broke ain't got a job Tyrone oh but here's a problem we can't kill the appetite that's linked to the memory because we keep little little relics and in paraphernalia connected to the thing we're trying to forget how to go in my youth group like I just can't get over my ex I was like you can't get over your ex why come sorry that's just why I said you can't get over your ex why you can't get over your ex she was like I don't know like I'd be trying to get over him but then every time he texts me I don't know like I said boo-boo desert there's a magic thing on your phone it's called the Dikembe Mutombo button called block you you block him you you don't just break up with somebody you unfollow them you mute them you block them and she said to me well you know every time I miss him I put on his sweater cuz it still got his Cologne on and boo-boo you crazy so you keeping sweaters you keeping sweaters and you think you're gonna forget so every time you lonely you put on a sweater boo-boo you better go buy your own sweater you know why that sweater is keeping you locked in 2015 you can afford your own sweater at some point guess what you got two options burn it or return it if you're not gonna return it that means you burn it yourself but you know what we do we keep all of the things that remind us of Egypt and wonder why we still wandering around the wilderness can't get into Canaan and God says I've got to send you manna because if I don't give you manna you'll never appreciate the milk in the honey in Canaan because bread cleanses your palate you know what some of us need you need to be abstinent oh wait a second you need to be abstinent you know why because you're gonna take all of the dysfunction of Egypt into a holy pure relationship with a husband or a wife and you're never going to like Canaan if you don't go through a season where all you eat man man I ain't forever but you know what you better enjoy it while it lasts because it is God's system of getting Delilah out of your tastebuds oh I'm preaching in here I am preaching in here you need to ask yourself this question and the band can come back up and play we're gonna wrap this thing up what appetite is opposite the anointing of God all my life what am i anointed to do what Phyllis seeing am i anointed to kill and why does the enemy keep sending Delilah's into my life that kill the source of the anointing on my life see the question is not whether or not you're anointed the question is whether or not you can put the appetites of your flesh to death long enough to let the anointing of God actually rest on your life you are anointed but you know what happens the more you feed appetites the more you feed appetites the more you feed appetites you begin to lose your confidence in God and now the enemy has gotten you to a place where you don't even believe you're anointed anymore because there's so much guilt and so much shame attached to this appetite that you keep feeding and I want to do this before I wrap up this sermon halfway through the summer I was traveling preaching and the Holy Spirit convicted me he said you cannot just preach sermons you have to give this generation tools to actually get better and so I don't just preach sermons any rule anymore I write devotional plans for every sermon I preached so here's the deal you can text the word menu to nine seven zero zero zero right now get your phone out because if there's an appetite that you have that is killing the anointing of God on your life I want you to go through a seven day devotional to cleanse your palate to learn through God's Word how to get your palate back to where it's supposed to be come on get your phone out right now before I wrap up this message get your phone out you can start it tomorrow you can wake up tomorrow get this devotional plan and start going through it because if you've got an appetite for pornography or if you've got an appetite for unsaved girls are unsaved dudes or you got an appetite for weed or if you've got an appetite for something that is killing you we've got to get you free we cannot just have an emotional experience for a weekend we need to get you free we need you we need your gift we need your purpose that lives on the inside of you we're desperate for you what good is it if my generation knows God but your generation goes and doesn't follow after God anymore we need you we cannot just preach to you and get you excited we have to disciple you here's what I love the Philistines come Delilah shaves off all his they're one of the saddest verses in the Bible says and Samson did not know he got up to fight the Philistines not knowing that the Spirit of the Lord had left him one of the saddest things is for you to go months and months and months and not be able to detect that God's strength in his spirit is not on you anymore at some point you've got to be so sensitive to the Spirit that you realize I'm running on E I need to get back to youth group like I need to get into a small group again because my tank is on empty samson gets up to fight the Philistines thinking that he still has the strength but Delilah has cut off all his hair and he gets up to fight them and they capture him they gouge his eyes out and they put him in a temple of Dagon as it as a court jester as a clown to make fun of him look we've captured Samson we captured the person who's been wreaking havoc on us for generations we can't we finally got Samson but Samson prayed this radical prayer God if you let my hair grow back if you restore me if you forgive me if you give me another chance see this is what I love about God that God is the god of multiple chances that God is the God who says this although you've wrecked your life you can still fulfill the call of God on your life I'm a God of grace I'm a God of mercy is there anybody in the room you're on your second chance right now you're in this place right now and you're like yep I'm living in my fifth chance I'm living in my sixth can we give God a shout of praise cuz he's a God of Drake's Samson's hair starts growing back and Sampson gets into the temple and they put him against two pillars and he says all the Philistines are gathered in the book of Judges says this he pushes on the pillars because he gets his strength back and he kills more Philistines in his death than he could have ever killed while he was alive which is the fulfillment of Jesus the reason that Jesus says to Peter get behind me saying it because Jesus understands the secret of his strength Jesus can heal people while he was alive Jesus could preach while he was alive Jesus could set people free while he was alive but he defeated enemies while he was on the cross [Music] in the room [Music] I lived most of my life this sermon is personal for me because I lived most of my life not knowing the secret of my strength my father took me to a crack house when I was 5 years old my dad's been addicted to drugs my whole life and I used to blame everything on my father I hated my father I was so numb my father would leave me and my mom in the house for weekends on end he'd be on drug binges we wouldn't have throw shoes in the house I hated my dad he would tell me he'd be at my basketball games never show up he would tell me he was gonna take me to casino shopping for the prom never show up hated my dad finally I was 25 years old and I went to go see a therapist and I was venting about my father I said my dad actually did more damage to me and my mother with his words than any of his actions I can remember the stuff that my dad used to say to us and he hurt us with his he could talk his way into anything talk his way out of anything he was manipulative with his you knew he was lying but he was so hypnotic with his personality he would rope you in and you would believe him and the therapist had the audacity to say sounds like your father left you a powerful set of gifts I was like how about you put your notepad down and listen to the words that are coming out of my mouth the therapist said could you kindly repeat what you said about your father I said yes how about you listen this time my father could talk his way into anything talk his way out of anything my father was manipulative with his my father did more damage to me and my mother with his than even his actions my dad was hypnotizing with his words he could sell water to a well my father was the kind of person that he had a big personality if he walked into a room he lit up the room he was he was he was so convincing with the words he would speak the therapist said yeah sounds like your father left you a powerful set of gifts I said fam you need to make it plain real fast the therapist said what do you do for a living I said I'm a preacher the therapist had dinner sounds are you talk to people into anything talk people out of anything it sounds like you're gonna talk people out of hell and into heaven and sounds like you can talk people out of depression and that was the day I've done the secret to my strength the secret to my strength was something I used to be ashamed of but now I can say yeah my dad may be a drug addict but you know what he gave me all the seeds I needed to plant the life that God has for me if you're in this room today and there's a source of low self-esteem that you've carried there's something that you've been ashamed of but today you're gonna flip it on the enemy and instead of being ashamed of your weakness you are gonna bear the thing that has made you weak and you're gonna say I'm gonna be strong if that's you lift your hand all over this place if that's you lift your hand all over this place and get down to this altar I want to lay my hands on you and pray over you because you're about to find the secret of your strength [Music] the enemy right now in the name of Jesus we say everything that the enemy is evil we turn it around for good right now in Jesus name God in the room in the name of Jesus [Music] as you can probably tell I'm a nerd I'm a whole nerd and I have no idea if middle school students and high school students watch TED talks do y'all watch TED talks y'all watch TED talks is funny because I was watching a TED talk recently and the woman who was giving the TED talk was a neuroscientist and she was talking about the instinctive ability of our body language to match what's going on psychology psychologically in our minds and she was saying this that around the world despite culture despite language our bodies have the ability to reflect what's happening on the inside of our minds and she said if you Google a picture of runners crossing the finish line no one has to teach them to put their hands up when they cross the finish line but hands going up is a sign of victory that's been won so lifting your hands is not just a sign of surrender [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I get the sense that tonight God wants to break the stronghold of insecurity it's kept you from evangelizing it's kept you from actually living out the life that God wants you to live if you're in the room and you have been paralyzed by insecurity you don't believe in yourself you believe you're ugly you believe you're weak tonight is the night that we break that off of your life because you are fearfully and wonderfully made God make you together in your mother's [Music] if insecurity is a problem for you not just like an occasional thing but every single day every day the enemy is in your ear telling you of who you are not you know I need to break this off of my life cuz you know what's funny the reason the enemy attacks you with insecurity is because he's scared of your potential so he wants to keep you down he wants to keep you silent it's a mind game come on what the devil is a liar the devil is a liar the devil is a liar that's you that's you you saying pastor Manny I've been struggling in security it's paralyzing me there's labels there are words that people have used to describe me I can't get them out of my mind if that's you lift your hands towards heaven if that's you lift your hands towards heaven try to get as close to the stage as you can you flee doors can you find those who have their hands up leaders can you find students with their hands up come on let's give time for some leaders to get to these students we want to pray for you we want to pray for you come on we believe there's a spiritual route to physical issues so we're gonna pray for you God your word sense or whatever we bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whenever we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven God I declare right now over your sons and daughters that they will see themselves the way that you see them God I ask if you would fix their vision right now in Jesus name we find every insecure thought and we loose security we loose identity we lose the power that comes when we believe and who you said we are we can't just think about who you are and not declare a response to who you are God we thank you right now the Spirit of the Living God lives on the inside of us right now we take Dominion we take authority over every person struggling with insecurity and we say right now we accept who you say we are we are sons and daughters of the Most High God and we reflect your glory in the earth we bind every insecurity if you're getting prayed for I need you to confess this I curse come on loud I curse every insecure thought I take Dominion and authority over every insecure thought that the enemy whispers into my ear the devil is a liar come on I am blessed I am healed I am delivered I've been set free I'm cold I'm strong I'm fearfully and wonderfully beautiful all my life and I will achieve everything that God has for me to achieve come on we declare right now over your young people every insecure thought we Kirsten right now in Jesus name and they have the mind of Christ the mind of Christ one more thing that I feel like the Holy Spirit's leading me to do if you're in this room and there are memories that are keeping you stuck in the past memories memories memories you keep replaying things in your head of Egypt of sin experiences that you had I'm number I prayed this prayer it was a radical prayer before I got married I asked God to remove I didn't get married as a virgin my wife was a virgin but I had made tons of mistakes I can be honest with y'all right right I've made so many mistakes I asked God this said God do a miracle in my mind take away every memory of any woman I've ever been with that was not my wife and it's funny because a year ago my wife she made a joke about one of my exes and I was like I remember that and she was like stop playing I was like no I don't even remember what you're talking about because God can actually remove them from your mind if you're in this room if you're in this room and you are struggling with sin every time you sin it's attached the enemy can only tempt you with stuff you remember if you don't know what it's like that he can't even tempt you with it if you're in the room and you are struggling with memories attached to an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend or a group of friends that you used to hang out with and you want to put that memory on the altar can you lift your hands wherever you are can you lift your hands wherever you are youth leaders can't you get to them can we pray for students in this room god we thank you right now for the supernatural ability to touch our minds and to cleanse our minds got your word says to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so God we renew our minds right now in the name of Jesus God we thank you that your cleansing memories right now God you're taking away memories of some moments that we should have never walked into god we thank you we thank you that God you can do in a moment whatever take years of counseling to do god you're better than any therapist Scott you're better than any counselor god we ask that you would do it at the altar right now in Jesus name we pray God we rebuke every memory that's not like you God give us new thoughts Scott your ways are not our ways and your thoughts are not our thoughts God we want to think like you God we want to operate in the mind of Christ God as I touch your young people gotta ask that you would cleanse them of all unrighteousness and you would give them clean hands and a pure heart hallelujah Jesus hallelujah Jesus hallelujah Jesus hallelujah Jesus hallelujah Jesus now here's what we're gonna do for anyone who we prayed against in insecurity or we prayed to remove some memories we are gonna worship like God has already done it we are gonna praise Him in faith believing that when you wake up tomorrow you are not gonna battle with that same insecurity you are not gonna [Music] you
