hey guys so today I wanted to quick remake this video to show how to make a basic hair texture in the newest version of a few things have changed with the process but not too much so the first thing we want to do is go file new and we are going to make our image size 256 by 256 all right now that we have the new project open all we have to do is pick the color for our hair so if for example we wanted red hair and pick a deep red color and just fill the whole thing in the next step is to go to filters noise HSV noise dulling we want to set this to 1 you should be set around 20 or so saturation we will turn down to 0 and then the value we are going to turn up about halfway for this color some colors you want all the way but for this one I'm only going to go halfway basically you just want this grainy type of texture on your actual image I don't want to make it too bright because otherwise is gonna make the hair this bright so I'm just gonna go and go in between to where it's not too bright where I still have that darker red hue even as a quick example I'm just showing a lighter color turning this up all the way for the lighter color is better because you're gonna get more texture in your hair at the end of it um it doesn't really affect the color too much and you'll see what I mean in a moment it's not actually changing the hue of the blue whereas the other one when we turned up the value all the way it was changing the red to a bright red instead of the darker red so we only turned it up halfway hope that makes sense the next step is to go to filters blur motion blur the length is going to go all the way up to 256 and then for our angle we'll put that at 90 and then just hit OK and you're going to do that about 4 times so you can just go to filters repeat filters repeat filters repeat as you can see it's just adding the lines into the hair the same thing with this blue one I'll just repeat the motion blur on this one I'll show you it does the same thing so next we want to add our shine into the hair so I'm just going to create a new layer and then I'm just gonna take our rectangle select tool and make sure I'm on white and output a shine section about here don't move that up just a little bit then I'll just fill that in with the white and then I'll put another smaller one right back here okay now I'll go select none and go to filters blur Gaussian blur and then I'll blur this at about seven then I'm going to do is set my layer mode to overlay as you can see it just adds a little bit of shine to it depending on the color it's gonna depend on the opacity that you set this at I don't want it to be too shiny I just wanted to kind of look more natural so I'm going to turn my opacity down about halfway now to add the darkness to the roots and the bottom of the hair I'm just gonna create another new layer select black and basically doing the same thing where I'm just adding a sliver of black at the bottom I'll fill that in and then another smaller sliver at the top for the roots if you don't want darker roots skip this step I typically like my hair to have like a little bit of shadowing darkness on the inner part of the hair and it's all just personal preference and what you want to do so go select none and then again filters blur Gaussian blur and I'll blur this one at about a seven as well this I'm just going to turn the opacity down until I'm happy with how it looks I only turned it down slightly and there we go there we have our hair texture i'll quick show you what it looks like with the blue one too and there we go we have our blue one done if anything I might have done one less of the motion blur just because it added some darker lines in here I should have probably stopped at three instead of the four just because the lines would have been a little bit thinner and not so dark again it's mostly just playing around and depending on the color it's gonna look different but yeah this is the basic idea of how you can create a really quick and easy hair texture I hope this video helps you guys out if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments below and I'll try and get back to you as soon as I possibly can and yeah thanks so much for watching [Music] [Music] [Applause]
