how's it going my good friends so this video we're going to make a chasing hammer just like that one only this one is more western-style probably German anyway so and we're gonna do a Japanese style one which could be Frank is very similar it's more organic looking and the handle is a bit different and we I don't know we're gonna make it look like a whale because it kind of looks like a whale so so that's that I suppose and we're going to also do it from a copper because that's what I have and that's something I can work with and I am yeah it's not ideal but I think it would work for chasing hammer and should be should be okay so and let's get to it so the first thing I want to do is to make the eye of the hammer or the slot that it seems the handle and the best way to do it is by you know forging it or casting it in a solid copper or something like that but I don't have all of those equipment so I'm just gonna drill it and file it you don't see it here but I there's a few more holes than just one to get the shape that I wanted [Music] you [Music] and want to establish the thin at the moment and I want to give the eye a little bit of kind of a bulge I bulge sounds about right hey Olli can you do more than just filing and engraving yes I can I can also do okay that looks really nice I'm very happy how it turns out now I do want to kind of refine the eyes I think they're a bit T and I also want to add a kind of a belly texture I hope don't use that out of context hey how's it going a good man nice a nice belly texture you develop them anyway so I hey I want to add a belly-to-belly texture because the whales or at least the blue whale has like this kind of stripes but I don't want stripe I want something a bit more with artistic integrity I guess so yeah let's do that and then I was continue from there so I'm gonna push it with my new favorite pink polishing paste this is absolutely fantastic okay you can already see some areas that I'm gonna need to address some sketches looking cute and you can see the lovely texture how it looks after the polishing it's really nice very nice now you think we are done but don't be distracted by their shininess of this copper one thing I've learned from studying out is that if you have an intention go with it even though it's very shiny in the process oops anyway you get my point so there are two processes that I want to attempt and it's very mild and Satre but I think it will no the first one is my love the subtle the second one is quite a big transformation so what I'm going to do first is I have here a gold plating solution now there's it's kind of a walk around gold plating if you've seen my last video but basically the gold is already dissolved in this solution we're going to gold plate actually very very tiny amount I just only want to get the eyes okay hooked up now we are at 4.5 volts a negative positive the anode graphite okay so now what we're going to do is we actually want to remove the gold in all the places except the the eye okay so what I've got is some that's level of sulfur is it cold not really sure what it is but it stinks and to make things go quicker I'm gonna hit the piece up a little bit just lightly just to warm the surface put on the mask for a second open the window something it works as you can see the gold dozen rejects oxide oxidation as in cold doesn't oxidate I guess or something like that or we talked today it's very slowly so it manages to repel the blackening and now you can see all the areas where I didn't remove the gold so I'm gonna do that repeat the process and I believe believe it's gonna look cool [Music] [Music] so I think I'm going to give it the first coat of shellac and this will act as a sanding sealer and finally to finally to protect it from the elements I'm gonna use some beeswax beeswax with the linseed oil okay we'll let it dry for a second alright let's give it a go see yet how it performs and yeah have some fun with it [Music] so friends I really hope you enjoyed this one and it took something from it I'm very happy with how it turned out and as you can tell I was still engraving in their Western fashion I suppose as opposed to Japanese engraving which you told yourself rather than away from yourself so this is something that definitely I will try and get into in the future but for now I'm just gonna have some fun with this a hammer I really love how the patina turned out in the end it's very interesting looking but I do want to try and seek a way to make a really solid blackening of the entire surface and so if you have any suggestions let me know I will be very happy to to have them and so but other than that I will also get some copper sulfate or copper salts or know if it's the same thing but it tried that one out as well but yeah other than that I really hope you enjoyed this one once again and I will see you again in the next video
