Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Apparently he didn't think it was necessary to cover the external microphones when he spray painted. That has to have some effect on the noise cancelling response.
he took a good pair of headphones and made them look like a lesser product which has a higher demand.. kind of laughable, but quite a waste of time and money if you ask me
Anyone with eyes can tell those aren't Beats headphones. They aren't even shaped the same. Notice how we didn't get any close up shots of the finished product? It's because his spray paint job was horrible. Especially on the logo.
Noise canceling headphones tend to have some sort of external mic as well as algorithms based on the sound penetration into the headphones. I'd be surprised if after doing that he didn't disrupt at least a portion of the noise canceling.
What a hack job. The worst part is, it's not like anyone is going to confuse his shitty-looking headphones with legit Beats-branded ones. The end product looks like the crappy model cars i used to build when I was an 8 year old with no skillz.
Beats are stupid, anyway. I'd rather have the Bose QC-15s.
This is obviously satire. A comment on form over function. And very well done at that.
"perfectly good" and "bose" do not belong that close together
Oh, you made your headphones look like Beats? Best chance scenario, you have better sound quality and everyone thinks you made a poor and expensive decision. Worst case scenario, you damage something in the external microphone from spraypainting it and I think you look like a tool for having obviously fake Beats logos haphazardly painted onto some other headphones.
With all of his organized gear, he didn't have a blade with a handle to cut a decent stencil? The stencils were so rough and poorly cut. All his talk about being patient with spray paint should also have been applied to patient and clean cutting.
But yes, this whole project makes no sense in terms of purpose.
