[Music] welcome the news today with wdw news today i'm tom corliss and i'm at a podium and here now is the news for october 1st 2021. i'm at the podium because as you just saw the ad the golden jamboree event is here in our studio uh this weekend digital tickets available at golden jamboree.com and because of that we've taken my desk away and a number of other usual things that are in this room so the podium will have to do for today and by the way happy 50th birthday today to the walt disney world resort without which we wouldn't be here i think that's obvious but let's begin the news the first of the walt disney world 50th anniversary celebration food items have arrived at the magic kingdom the adventureland cart is now serving up 50th celebration spring rolls the 50th celebration spring roll replaces the buffalo chicken ones on the menu they are pastrami and pepper jack served with mustard dipping sauce for 9.50 what does that have to do with the 50th i have no idea but you could read the review on our website i don't know maybe 50 years ago bill sullivan ate a pastrami sandwich on the construction site i have no idea the main street cinema at the magic kingdom reopened debuting its display for the walt disney world 50th anniversary vault collection we showed you that the other day but now we're still finding more and more items of that collection some of those items include a retro lunchbox style crossbody bag featuring the classic art from the 1971 uh lunch box um and you might be saying oh but the purse doesn't come with the thermos well there is of course also a matching thermos wallet that you could put inside of course it's 69.99 for the purse 16.99 for the wallet they're available at the main street cinema they should eventually be at the vault store at disney springs as well there's also a really cool magic kingdom 1970s jacket that is available that's pretty cool it has magic kingdom in cinderella castle embroidered on the front mickey is leading a marching band around the magic kingdom banner on the back the vintage walt disney world logo is a patch on one sleeve the jacket costs 89.99 i had to have one it's a beautiful jacket for the 50th anniversary of disney world and as well the 50th anniversary of this incredible legendary show the electrical water pageant has been updated for the occasion it has a new opening sequence which features cinderella castle turning into an iridescent 50th castle logo it plays the magic is calling theme song from the celebration uh and this also happens at the end as well the other interesting thing that happens is it actually has a specific call out uh to each resort it stops at so it'll say it'll greet and say goodbye to guests of the grand floridian or the polynesian depending where it is we have the full show right here on our youtube channel i suggest watching it i think it's the most charming thing they've done so far for the 50th it's really wonderful all four theme park icons are transforming to celebrate the anniversary and disney has released preview footage of all of the beacon of magic projection shows each presentation begins with the narrator talking about the unique magic of each park you can watch the six minute extended preview right here on our channel of course spaceship already debuted its beacon of magic look on september 29th we have a video of that you can watch as well there's plenty of photos up on the site as well but right after harmonious ended uh spaceship earth lit up and and people were stunned people loved it spaceship earth wasn't the only thing sporting new lights at epcot though the walt disney world monorail fleet has debuted new undercarriage lights just in time for the anniversary we caught monorail green showing off the new led lighting and each monorail has lights in the color corresponding with its signature coloring outside you know there's one walt disney world merchandise collection for the 50th we haven't seen much of just yet and that's the lux logo collection which is releasing in november now more items from that collection have been revealed as the name implies the lux logo collection will offer a range of upscale pieces we previously saw the corduroy spirit jersey hoodie and jogger here's a closer look at the gold and black ear headband seen in previous photos deluxe logo jeweled ear hat is adorned with sparkling gold gemstones from ear to ear and is an elevated take on the classic mickey ear hat a jeweled eared headband with black velvet bow is also available additional items include a hat a jacket and sweater all featuring the signature 50 and cinderella castle there will also be a lux logo citizen watch but an image of that has not yet been released and for the rest of us who don't wear clothes like we're jennifer lopez uh you can pick up some new 50th anniversary items from the carousel of products we have a brand new short sleeve and long sleeve shirt as well as a beautiful it's a pretty large 50th gold logo pin again at carousel of products.com they're very cool new 50th anniversary magic mobile ticket designs featuring some of the disney fab 50 statues are now available to my disney experience users guests can use magic mobile on their phone as their ticket when entering the theme parks and more than that the ticket designs include the fab 50 statues of mickey minnie figment r2d2 bo peep nemo and dory together simba miguel frozone and olaf disney has announced magic band plus a new version of magic band which will interact with guests by providing light and haptic feedback from within the park the new magicband plus system will also be used for interacting with the fab 50 golden statues disney has said the bands will allow guests to experience nighttime fireworks spectaculars in ways they have never been able to before and after a guest enters a park magic band plus will come alive at various times with color changing lights haptic vibrations and gesture recognition enhancing the environment's immersive storytelling the wearable will allow guests to engage with favorite disney moments in new ways and discover new interactive experiences including you could play like a bounty hunter in a galaxy far far away and find virtual bounties throughout black spire outpost and galaxy's edge you can interact again with those fab 50 gold statues that are spread throughout the theme parks and you experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way i don't know how new this is you may remember glow with the show ear headbands or ear hats sorry a long time ago it sounds like it's going to be kind of like but they did specifically mention that it will interact with harmonious and disney enchantment the new nighttime spectaculars a variety of magic man plus styles will be available just like magic band and magibam plus will have all the functionality of the previous generation to boot current generation magic bands will continue to work for park entry photo linking and other existing functions magic band plus will debut in 2022 after just over four years and most of a year without any performances the happily ever after fireworks spectacular magic kingdom has been permanently retired of course disney enchantment by the time you're watching this has had its online debut via live stream uh on the internet and to the media but happily ever after ended the other evening we were there you can watch the full video right here on our channel after being closed for over a year the frontierland shooting arcade of the magic kingdom is back the arcade recently got new flooring as part of the boardwalk replacement project in the land a game of 35 shots at the shooting arcade previously cost one dollar but now it's free signs have been covered up to indicate the free play this is unbelievable outside of the change to free play the game remains the same with sound and movement effects occurring as different targets are shot with the rifles disney announced that guardians of the galaxy cosmic rewind will be opening in 2022 at epcot we've now received some additional details about the pavilion that the attraction will be housed in disney shared that the pavilion formerly known as the universe of energy uh which was home of course to ellen's energy adventure last will now be known as the wonders of zandar pavilion a reference to the zandarian people whose ship will sit outside of the pavilion the base for the ship has been prepared recently the ship is expected to be arriving in the near future the name pays homage kind of to the wonders of life pavilion which was next door and will become the play pavilion at some point down the road disney made no mention of play among all the announcements they made today though so it's unclear when and if that will happen the pavilion logo flag some of which were added to the new epcot entrance earlier this year have been updated ahead of the october 1st birthday there are two sets of flags on either side of spaceship earth the flags are still white and each has a different pavilion logo in the center previously only six different pavilions were represented there were two of each flag now all 12 including new pavilions that haven't even opened yet have a flag outside of spaceship earth the new flags have the addition of a colored stripe on the side with the epcot logo on them the color stripe matches the pavilion's logo color and on the left of spaceship earth we have flags for guardians of the galaxy cosmic rewind mission space or horizons test track and world of motion then the play pavilion the left side also has flags for journeying to imagination and harmonious flags for spaceship earth the epcot experience the seas journey of water the land and world showcase are on the right the flags have been rearranged to create more of a rainbow from left to right we finally said goodbye to epcot forever two years after saying goodbye to illumination's reflections of earth and now we're saying hello to harmonius the new nighttime spectacular on the world showcase lagoon crowds gathered earlier this week to see the first performance of the show we have a video right here on our youtube channel for you to enjoy of the program i know people have been uh mostly negative reviews of the shows thus far i haven't personally seen it but you can watch decisions are up to you again march 1st the opening of star wars galactic star cruiser start saving those uh credits everybody the pre-show of muppet vision 3d at hollywood studios has been updated to include content from muppets haunted mansion the upcoming special on disney plus coming out october 8th banners for muppets haunted mansion are now hanging in the courtyard outside the attraction inside the screen show the muppets on a mansion logo before the pre-show begins the background of the video looks like the purple wallpaper from the haunted mansion but a closer look will reveal muppet characters in place of those spooky faces and portraits of the muppets and the style of the mansion portraits also sometimes appear on screen when the pre-show starts pepe the king prawn appears to introduce the trailer for muppets haunted mansion he then introduces a clip of himself and gonzo arriving at the mansion hearing the rules of their halloween challenge and entering the famous stretching room watch the entire pre-show right here on our youtube channel last summer the physically distanced feathered friends in flight show opened at the caravan theater at animal kingdom replacing up a great bird adventure for an unspecified amount of time but over a year later feathered friends in flight is now permanent as it finally has its own unique signage outside of the theater signage for upper great bird adventure had remained in place for the past 15 months but now they have been the up characters and the signage have been removed from the exterior of the theater feathered friends in flight also now has a lightning lane sign chester and hester have dressed up their dinoland usa shop chester and hester's dinosaur treasures for the 50th anniversary upon entering is a sign for the world's most magical celebration the 50 icon is made of gold bottle caps this is amazing kudos to the merchandise team at disney world every store i've been in that has displays has custom displays and at tester and chester's everything feels like a roadside stand it's fantastic there are gold pennants hanging all over the place and then our friend our good friend you know him sometimes he's santasaurus sometimes he's vampyrosaurus right now he's walt disney world thesaurus he's wearing his vintage walt disney world clothes for the 50th this is a wonderful wonderful thing the new daytime show at disney's animal kingdom disney kite tales soft opened this week with two versions of the show the lion king and the jungle book you can see photos and watch videos of these performances on our site obviously the video is also here on youtube unfortunately the first performance of the lion king was suddenly canceled after a jet ski flipped over during the show the jet skis pull the largest kites including inflatable characters you can see the jet ski in question near the stands you're looking at it now it had just finished pulling the baby simba inflatable kite which lands off mark in the water the jet ski then flips over the two jet skis were in the midst of pulling other kites at the time the jet skier immediately emerged from the water appeared to be completely fine thankfully uh so yeah it's been a rough first week for this show the the media preview didn't go very well the general public has not been nice about the show and now this um it is it's been an interesting start to this uh to this celebration the sassagula river crews will return to service to and from disney springs october 1st the boat service will be available from old key west in saratoga springs from 10 a.m to 11 30 p.m daily it'll be available at disney's port orleans resort when it reopens later in october the service had yet to resume since it was suspended in march of 2020 alongside all of the other closures disney vacation club members will be able to enjoy their home away from home in a new way disney has released new art for the expanded and refreshed rooms coming to the villas at the grand floridian resort and spa in the summer of 2022. they are uh what they're doing is they are remodeling uh one of the existing buildings not the dvc building um into dvc units i think they're also refreshing uh some of the rooms at the existing resort as well it's a sort of a taking the time to to revamp all of the rooms there while they're building these new
