God, her pop sensibilities are so refined. I really recommend her EP "Now That The Light Is Fading," it's really an incredible debut.
She was in that video with Pharrell being impressed by her music right?
I saw her at Firefly this year - it was her actual first festival despite what the article about Glastonbury says - which is also basically where she grew up. She was so emotional and overwhelmed by the crowd when she came out, really amazing moment. Little did she know it was her first of many huge festival crows this summer (really, look up the crowds that showed up for such a new artist).
The next day I wound up at Sofi Tukker, and to my surprise she comes out to sing Awoo with them. Then both girls jump down into the actual crowd (not just the first barrier) and dance with us all up front.
Moments after, still coming to reality with everything that's occuring, I find myself talking to a group next to me about how crazy it was they knew each other and showed up. Finally one guys says "Oh well, we knew - I'm her brother". I proceeded to tell him how amazing his sister was and how I tell everyone to listen to her stuff. They were much younger than me (20ish, I'm almost 30), but we got along none the less and they were asking for other artists to go see. Actually made me much more comfortable as though I served a purposed and wasn't just bugging them.
Finally Maggie called them over from the side of the stage to talk, and they invited me over (I was being bashful not wanting to appear as a crazy fan now). I got to chat with her for a few moments and tried to play it cool, but was a little enthusiastic... I kept running into the brother and his friends over the course of the festival, great people.
None of my friends really care about her outside of a handful, so I never get to tell that story to those who appreciate it. Glad to share it here finally.
love love
That falsetto though
I love her voice so gorgeous.
Wow. That was absolutely incredible.
the more acoustic versions sound pretty cool!
