did you notice that there are fewer luxury unboxing videos on YouTube lately or did you note how luxury shopping has been on the way out this is not to say that luxury shopping is over I don't think a solid portion of society will ever grow weary of buying luxury items but a decline in luxury shopping has grabbed my attention I wanted to approach this issue not only because I observed it with other people but also because I have been experiencing the same thing let me explain what I believe people like myself are less enthusiastic about indulging in Endless luxury consumption if I have to start with the obvious I need to talk about the impact of recent economic Trends the recession and covid-19 pandemic have been eye-openers for many consumers of luxury products including me some people were even forced to sell their beloved belongings and focus more on their Necessities combined with a crazy increase in luxury prices it is no surprise that people are less interested in buying highly expensive products with prices increasing almost every week it becomes more challenging to keep up with the market and go shopping as frequently besides the economic Factor something else also caused a decline in interest in luxury shopping in my opinion a new trend gaining traction luxury minimalism which focuses on quality over quantity when over consumption of luxurious Commodities began to show itself on YouTube or social media in general there was a massive demand for unboxing videos where influencers would show their newly purchased Goods almost every week but the recent popularity of the luxurious minimalist style in fashion and architecture has encouraged people to invest in Timeless pieces of the highest quality and the unboxing videos of that kind have been disappearing from YouTube for me the situation has been the same I'd like to think that when I buy a luxury item I should be able to use it for many years not stuff it in a Cupboard and never see it again I invest in pieces that I feel could be used for a long time not because I'm more stingy with my money but because of the growing idea that I should be able to take advantage of things I own do you think people that buy luxury goods almost every other day are able to use every single one of them no on the contrary you will hear more and more people realizing they're not using many of the items they purchased and most just sit in their closets for years in the past there was just so much focus on the next purchase rather than concentrating on what you just bought you would worry about what will come next it's like ordering an expensive and beautiful Plate at a fine dining restaurant but before you enjoy the meal you start thinking about the next meal you'll buy I think more and more people are grasping the meaning behind unnecessary luxury shopping so the concept of minimal luxury has been the favorite of many people I know the idea of less is more has made more sense as time passes but the rise of luxury minimalism or the effects of the economic crisis are not the only reasons why luxury shopping is on the low unfortunately luxury brands have become increasingly like Fast fashion brands disheartening many people to shop for luxurious items fast fashion brands are known to have Micro Seasons meaning they like to come up with a new collection almost every week some Brands like Zara even started doing a bi-weekly schedule of deliveries naturally luxury brands that used to have two seasons realize that they stopped making sense commercially because how can they compete with brands that come up with new items every week now luxury brands also rely on monthly product drops quite like Fast fashion brands think about Louis Vuitton for instance the brand has been coming up with new collections so frequently that it has been a topic of debate is it normal for such a luxury brand to release products so often here's the problem a significant portion of people me included who preferred High luxury items did so because these products differed from the general fashion brands offered they used to be rare there was this aspect of anticipation you would think about what the following items could be like but now luxury Brands come up with new stuff every month and I cannot help but think why should I buy something that will be out of fashion next month the luxury items do not have the lore Factor anymore this is more significant when considering how fast fashion brands increasingly imitate catwalk looks so with the luxury Brands present is less unique than before another problem that I think contributed to a downfall in luxury shopping is the over presence of luxury items on social media not a day goes by without seeing an influencer or celebrity flaunting their newly purchased luxury bag recently the rapper cardi B was viral for gifting her five-year-old daughter a twenty thousand dollar Birkin bag for her birthday this is not the first instance cardi B became the center of controversy with her luxury purchases cardi also gifted her daughter a 48 thousand dollar Birkin bag two years ago instances like these make the items sold less unique the ubiquity of luxury bags or jewelry on social media makes them less attractive to usual luxury consumers the so-called overdose of luxury bags all over social media creates an atmosphere where luxury buyers things seeing your product often decreases its perceived value honestly I agree I would rather buy a lesser-known quality product than something that has been seen in videos every day another negative outcome of overexposure to luxury items on social media is the Resurgence of counterfeit or fake luxury goods the counterfeit Goods Market has grown so much thanks to social media the people now rightfully prefer buying fake versions instead of paying fortunes to a luxury brand and some of these goods are produced almost identical to the original where the only difference ends up being the price tag to summarize I want to discuss what I've been doing lately honestly I have not been spending as much as I used to because I realize the importance of experiencing joy and items that I own I do not like buying things I don't need that would rot in my closet I usually check my closet to see if some stuff needs to be updated and I create a wish list to avoid impulse purchases I find this to be the best way going forward I also don't think luxury consumption is ending I believe it's in somewhat of a transitional phase as consumers and Trends constantly change I see a slowing down in consumption and I'm happy about this process because it may cause big Brands to reconsider the ridiculous prices anyways I am done with this subject it's time for you to talk about your opinion where do you stand on luxury shopping do you see yourself as less inclined to buy a luxury item tell me in the comments below don't forget to like and share this video subscribe to my perspective to
