[Music] hello everybody Welcome to the channel so one of the reasons why I got a Windows gaming handheld it's because of an app called lless scaling this app has built in frame generation it works for games it works for emulators and emulation is something that I really enjoy especially on a gaming handheld so since I've got the lenover legion go it's something that I definitely want to test out and this app doesn't like work on the steam de Steam OS so here's the app on my Legion go okay there's only a few options you really need to be concerned about um scaling mode set it to Auto and then scaling type I'm going to turn it off because today I'm going to demonstrate on an emulator called Yuzu it's a Nintendo switch emulator which already has built in upscaling options so I'm going to use the upscaler there and then here's what I'm concerned about frame generation turn this on by selecting lsfg all right lless scaling frame generation and then scroll down a a little bit there's something called Draw FPS all right make sure you toggle this on because this like draws the FPS counter on the top left corner so you know it's working okay now that's done I'm just going to turn on my emulator and let's test it out on a game called hu Warriors age of Calamity this game doesn't run um really well even on original Hardware so let's see how it works and make sure you you put the game on borderless window like this all right don't do full screen like this because um the lsfg doesn't work on full screen so let me turn on lsfg by clicking scale here and then you've got this countdown 5 4 3 2 1 go back to your Yu window and yeah now it working you can see on the top left corner we've got this FPS counter that's by the ls FG right you've got another counter down here this is the Yuzu one this is the normal FPS that you're getting and this is higher on the top left it's because um frame generation is working now and it's generating extra frames in between frames so that's why it makes the image look smoother that's how it actually works so okay I'm going for a capture card so like normally I get like 50 to 60 if I'm uh for this game if I'm not on the capture card it does have a little hit okay so I really do enjoy this game but uh yeah I wish it performed better so I'm really waiting for the switch to and hopefully it has backward compatibility and I could play this game and maybe it has a patch that fixes St with the but at least I don't really like the um dynamic resolution for this game and playing through emulate is one of the good things because you can disable the dynamic resolution so it doesn't drop so it does feel a little bit smoother because normally here at the start when there's a lot of enemies it drops to the 20ish frames but now with lsfg I'm getting above 30 so 30ish 40 frames but uh there is a cost like you can see there is some goost thing out of effects when you spin the camera you probably notice it a little bit more but this is such a fast-paced game you probably won't notice it if you're you know really into the game so if you're like it really depends if you want to turn this on and off on on or off like if you want graphic Fidelity you probably just leave it but if you want to smoother game play and you don't mind that little bit of like ghosting or artifacts uh you might want to turn it on like there's another option is like inside the USU emulator you could set the resolution lower you can set it at 0.5 or 0.75 and it like brings down the resolution but like makes the graphics look really ugly so yeah I don't recommend that I'd rather turn on lsfg okay so make sure it's on borderless Windows like I mentioned If It Go full screen like this like frame generation is off now you can see there's no more there's no more ghosting and the counter's gone too the FPS counter it's actually running pretty well without without it he like I think it's like the 30 frames right now it's when you get into like more enemies on screen when struggles a little bit dips but right now it's okay all right so let's test out a different game test out a different game with it yeah maybe I should test out Red Dead Redemption 2 this game runs at a like 30 FPS scale it um yeah that's was the game was like made on 3 it's a like PS3 game Xbox 360 game and now it's ported to the switch and it's also 30 frames so let's see how it performs like I've tried uh Mario Kart 8 I think that's the like a good game to use lsfg right but uh I might not be able to demonstrate that because I'm on a capture card and it's limited to like 60 FPS so that's why it doesn't really work but if you're on handheld mode and the legion go has all right let so there is like quite a bit of ghosting up flickering all right so like I was saying um if you're playing on the legion go and you play Mario Kart because that runs at a solid 60 FPS on emulation so if you turn on lsfg um you get a solid 120 frames per second it's really really smooth so for that game I definitely recommend turning on lsfg but for games like this like you have to you know I think the option's yours so do you mind that that H thing flickering I do so I'd rather play this at a 30 frames rather than rather than your move my friend oops okay so yeah let's test out test out uh Mario Kart I'll show you what I mean Mario Cart okay so I'll show you what I mean like I can't really demonstrate it because it's just going to keep at 60 FPS marioart because my card and you only get like flickering like on these on the menu screens but when you're playing the game you don't really get it all right so that's why it's really good so if I was playing handheld mode on the rck Ally or Legion go definitely use this it like keeps it at a solid 120 frames and it's really really smooth all right I think I haven't turned it yes I've turned it on okay you can see like the bottom I'm getting like around 60 frames right it's because I'm going for a capture card it it it's like dropped a bit has a little bit of overhead and you can see like even with FG on it's also 60 FPS it's because I'm limited by the capture card okay so make sure you play this on the leion go you should really really try it out try it out maybe I'll like put some footage of me playing on the legion go handheld mode right now so you can see like what it's like it feels really really good so this is a game that I definitely recommend playing with frame generation on all right so yeah I hope this video helped you out if it did please leave a like And subscribe to the channel if you haven't already and I'll see you guys in the next on later
