it almost doesn't look real but this dangerous social media stunt involving a helicopter fireworks and a Lamborghini has one man in hot water the San Francisco Valley YouTuber now charged for carrying out this illegal stunt that man appeared in court today NBC 4's Macy Jenkins was there as well and has the details for us Macy hi Carolyn well that 24 year-old YouTuber showed up today in a federal courtroom in downtown Los Angeles that was his first appearance now this comes about a year after he posted a video he directed to his YouTube page showing two women in a helicopter shooting fireworks at a Lamborghini sports car in San Bernardino now the judge approved his release from jail on a $50,000 Bond less than 24 hours after his arrest on Wednesday sukman Choy known as Alex Choy online appeared in fedal ederal court on Thursday facing one count of placing an explosive or incendiary device on an aircraft a violation of FAA law the 11-minute video was posted to Troy's YouTube page on July 4th of last year under the title destroying a Lamborghini with fireworks in it you see multiple angles of a Lamborghini attempting to dodge the fireworks raining down from above FAA investigators believe the video was shot at the El marage dry lake bed in San Bernardino County and say Troy failed to obtain the proper filming waiver and submit a written plan of the flight activity according to the criminal complaint Choice says in the video his goal as director was to quote make the craziest Fourth of July video involving cars and fireworks he wrote about planning the shoot in a text message according to the complaint saying in part I would also have to drive to Las Vegas to buy fireworks as they're illegal in California followed by a laughing crying Emoji about a dozen of choy's friends and family members packed in into a small Gallery in the downtown courtroom this afternoon Troy entered the room in handcuffs looking somewhat stunned even waving at his family before the hearing began the judge agreed to release Choy on a $50,000 Bond given he comply with a list of standard conditions including surrendering his passport and any firearms in his possession choy's family did not want to speak on camera they left the courtroom visibly emotional some of them crying and hugging one another if Choy is found guilty he could face up to 10 years behind bars the video has been removed from YouTube and the pilot flying the chopper in that video had his license revoked back in January next up for Choy he's due in court on June 27th for a preliminary hearing followed by his arraignment on July 2nd reporting live in downtown Los Angeles Macy Jenkins NBC4 news
