French athletes well--there's result came in Meyer the winner in 1017 929 points Kaczmarek a couple of hundreds a couple of tenths behind in Urania table very sad as Rob said to see the end of center of Suez and Santos was a non-starter well Maya is particularly strong on the second day we won't see him in the lead early on because but the likes of Damian Warner will surely get more points in the first couple of events but don't take that as a sign of anything what matters is year 2 the score against what you might be expected to do in each of N and that's perfect start as the men now begin to come out from the third race of the hundred meters they'll be getting underway fairly shortly well the warm-up track so busy moot as fashion he has gone so close to that seemingly elusive world record of Sauter my or been a good season overall he's jumped further than anyone else to 38 this year Barcia qualifying in the men's high jump and that starts in around about an hour's time it's coming up the quarter past 10:00 local time and bashing well two years time he'll be performing on home territory he's getting ready and the discus Caffrey starting very soon it is right on cue Rob qualification group a for the women's discus to qualification tools one now at 10 past 10 local time the next at 11:35 it's a good lineup Sandra Perkovic of croatia lines up in this one and then eater Martin's back after her exploits in the shot foot comes back into this women's discus qualifying 62 meters and 50 will be the automatic qualification line or the top 12 into the final on Sunday so 15 athletes in total 17 athletes across both these pools this morning have gone over 62 meters and 50 so Julia Marting opening her account married to world champion multiple world champion Robert Harting last year so the German a little bit shy the automatic qualifying line sixty three sixty three this season she's nearly five meters down on the best that she's set in 2016 [Applause] 61 meters and 34 all athletes getting three throws there is husband watching on [Music] so the Brazilian entering the circle on her first attempt of the morning you see the big yellow line is that sixty two meters and fifty the South American record hold up you could form this year 64 meters and 68 so 60 meters and 61 her opening effort now here's an athlete that would like to get automatic qualifying done in one throat Xander Perkovic of Croatia the double Olympic champion 71 meters and 41 this year the best women's discus throat since 1972 so automatic qualifying of 62 meters and 50 she's hoping it'll be as easy as it sounds for the world leader Oh no she's gonna have to come back again puts it into the netting it's the speed across the circle is the speed of the arm she'll come back for a second attempt race three in the decathlon scre you know throw hell solid Samuelson Nakamura Singh Kham Doral yo Ruger and distal burger on the inside Ilyas Korean off the Russian running as a neutral athlete here twice European bonds medalist European Indoor champion there Martin row of Norway got a best of eight thousand one hundred forty-four points Adam Sebastian he'll select one of the most consistent multi eventers on the scene and he's the second placer for the Europeans last year then we have Frederik Samuel songs showing good competitive skills here and he's the second in the European under-23 this season then we have Asian champion two years ago Aki conductive euro rock Japan and we have the huge tires echo older soothe his sack Singh Kham Asian champion this season news Alberto Del Rio twice the South American champion he represents Brazil ties druga he got a bronze medal in the World Indoor Championships at earlier this year as always the Germans have a strong trio in this event then we have Dominic distal Berger the Austrian again a man with the best of eight one seven five points so this is the third set of 100 meter runners and second fastest group on paper or with bests of ten five to ten seven area ten eight maybe school you know one of the Russians that have been allowed to to their drug test profiles that they've done over the years they've been allowed to compete by the if' as neutral athletes search korean off row healthily Samuelsson Nakamura Sinkin de Horatio bruger and distal Berger while a break thereby Booga but of course the multi events are allowed one full start so that would not result in disqualification anymore James though case they go out it seemed as though they were made to wait a long long time before they were asked to get into the set position Peter he was like a coiled spring just couldn't keep himself together but it must be anxious for these guys ahead of a brutal two days of competition so the German is living dangerously sometimes these long holds it because some of the athletes haven't quite got to their set positions and the starter won't release them till they're all ready and that can be unfortunate for some who get there quickly well one fall stopped and we've now got the runners and getting ready for this third race earlier you know of Martin row Adam Sebastian Hill silat Fredrik Samuelsson Akihiko Nakamura soothe his sac sync on Luis Alberto de Horatio Mattias Braga and Dominic distal Berger raised three of the decathlon 100 meters eight the IAAF World Championships fastest men on paper Nakamura in 5-2 Horacio in seven with both run 1066 so carefully getting into their box sebastian has select possibly the slowest to do so . my burger but now they're ready the second time of asking a brief is certainly one away this time their problem and the small talk over that camera the japanese athletes together live sync on over on the far side though its martino the norwegian news across the line and 1091 so substantially slower than the previous two races which is slightly surprising there's a mr. Berger there as they're watching the road whoever on the far side 1090 but the wind is this time but a little bit as adverse wind of 1.3 meters a second that would be responsible for throwing the times by about a tenth so that's slightly disappointing for them but they were seated to be the second fastest group and it didn't really work out that way just a burger who's got a best of 1054 actually making the quickest and he was certainly prominent but a lot of these athletes running a fair bit below their form which is a different pattern from that which we saw in the first two races yes the quality in the opening to the score Neff just has a a little smile on his face waiting for his official mark to come up that's what he's doing he's looking at the massive scoreboard at the end of the stadium which is featuring him at the moment as he waits for his time start so after that false start the German has she got away okay in Lane eight he the Japanese athlete began to fade but roe ran really well across Himalayan 3 with distal Berger coming through on the near side but nowhere near as fast as the fireworks we saw from do - in the first with 1075 and they are in the second with 1070 known you're looking at scoring of watching and the disappointed I think because his time in 7th place just 11 1 7 so a little disappointing start for some of these big men better opportunities to score good points of course later but as it is Roe was the only man to break 11 seconds with his 1090 distel burger and Nakamura and Roo following in that order just over 8,100 points a personal best and he started off well as Rob said pretty even Japanese athlete started to fade there at about 60 meters but one down nine to go looking at going off and certainly he's probably the biggest name in this event as a Russian he was only cleared to compete in this event fairly recently so whether he has been able to prepare or expected to prepare for a championship but as well as I would have liked I don't know that certainly that was a moderate start results of the third race was a win for Martin row in 1090 from distal Berger 1103 Nakamura do our show but none of them getting over 900 points in that race so they're the athletes that will come out for the fourth and final key to the men's decathlon 100 metres warmed up ready to rock and roll there's trey hardee the American when the most experienced men now in the decathlon event so they'll be out shortly yes this will feature the fastest men at 200 meters in the decathlon special entry first of all it's a Mexican siano from Ukraine I said in gold medalist then devin williams us a filter significant us netherlands at DMACC USA then the victor of grenada then in warner of canada with all your support here robert a salary of estonia he could promote of germany finally the former champion trey hardee for USA who won back in 2009 and in 2011 james edward hardy the thirds thirds in significance that's why he's called train so they'll set their blocks without final 100 meters in the decathlon martin in the women's discus qualifying second in the shock book already has a silver medal in the bag well just over the 55 meter line nobody yet surpassing the 62 meters and 50 needed my father was a weightlifter at national level 55 meters and 96 six at the moment in this remember the first qualification pool thing of China she's gone out 260 306 this season oh well this as I say no one surpassed it that's going to be very close to the automatic qualifying line military Games champion a couple of years ago 18 Rio last year notably fast across the circle wasn't she which is a difference between some of the other players we've seen fast across the circle fast whipped arm through 62 meters and 48 hold position in this qualifying tall now these are the fastest men on paper in the 100 meters just seen the back view of linden Victoire there denyen water well we would confidently expect him to come clear of this field he really is a crack sprinter 10 1 5 is personal best already 10 35 this year just exchanging glances there Trey Hardy of course took on the best of 1039 and 1046 this year Alexei kasatonov devin williams Ilkeston Nicholas Zakas emic Linden Victor Damien Warner Carl Robertson Yuri Rico fry Mott and trey hardee that said airliner for the 4th race in this decathlon 100 meters Damien Warner third in the Olympic Games 13 second in the previous editions of these Championships very experienced Alessi casanov goes in lane one sixth and seventh in the big games why world indoor silver medalist then we have devin williams of the USA his sister candle williamson competed in the women's at tapri Deborah Williams this year's American collegiate champion the new coach at Nicholas European Indoor champion man who excels in the pole vault particularly so strong second day Zach Tzemach the seven pins Olympic Games eight thousand four hundred points of his best then the second of these very strong granadan trio Linden Victor American collegiate champion last two years Williams won the indoor title then Damien Warner the Commonwealth champion Olympic bronze medalist silver and bronze of previous World Championships and a brilliant sprinter mentor support from candidates Carl Roberts Saudis the Estonia is improved to eight thousand one hundred eight points in his best Rico prymaat another outstanding Challenger for a medal with bronze medalist two years ago in Beijing and his sixth in the Olympic Games and here is the champion returning the champion in 2009 the champion in 2011 US Champion in 2009 and again this year after Ashton Eaton had retire Trey Hardy for the USA fastest sprinters in the decathlon 100 meters just taking to their marks now Damien Warner goes in Lane six the man we expect to star in this event Alexei kasatonov devin williams Yoko's at Nicholas Zack Tzemach linden victor game Ian Warner Carl Roberts ciliary Rico frame wood and trey hardee they're ready for the 100 meters Hey oh just moving out of his blocks there Linden Victor again as I explained before this won't be penalized decathletes like to not worry too much about fall starting almost there's a bit of gamesmanship and I wonder whether he's slightly conscious the fact that he's in the lane next to Damien Warner who he knows all being well will get out like a rocket remember the Canadian ran ten point three at the start of his decathlon last year in Rio he is by some margin the quickest in this field on tapir anxious moments though for Victor here at start of a long couple of days Lynden Victor of Grenada American collegiate champion he goes in Lane five right in the center of this nine man field so after the warning has been delivered athletes in this fourth race of the decathlon 100 take to their marks secrecy on off if you cry devin williams USA Ilkeston nicholas albums zach Tzemach USA Dandan victor Grenada Damien Warner Canada Carl Robertson Leary Estonia Rico fry mode from Germany and the former champion trey hardee United States of America well they're all way cleaner this time and a good start by cellular and now you're getting into running stationary just a hidden world of ever wonder now coming through not one another so imagine what might have expected as FRA Mortenson Yuri we're just behind and well I think that's a pretty disappointing time there for Warner and he was much closely matched by the rivals that would have expected 10 5 it's the fastest and of the day of course but it's not as good as we've come to expect from Warner and he doesn't look very happy and also if you think back to the second heat wehrmeyer the Olympic silver medalist ran ten point seven zero Warner in what is arguably one of his best events his only two-tenths of a second quicker climate came through well because ciliary of Estonia had caught out really fast as you said Peter little pause for reflection there for Warner it's still a great time for a decathlete but he knows he's missed out on a few points there especially with a season's best of 10.35 coming into this decathlon the up days lost quite a lot of points really I think compared to what one might have anticipated he's down about 50 points because of that so we'll have to see how he fares in the next event the long jump stir he will head that rankings after event one as one would expect but good runs behind him by prymaat and silly ori finishing in that order both with seasons bests let's look again it took a little while for Warner to make his way to the forefront of the circuit field and the two athletes just inside him really pressing very hard and only finishing hundredths of a second behind him [Music] Warner here running in Lane six Linden Victor despite that little faulty start no not affected by that at all seniority working very hard indeed a bit too rough and ready but he got a good time out of it sir he might be the one who's happiest for this because he was certainly the man who's closest to his personal best just one hundredth of a second outside that pink trey hardee might be a little bit disappointed with his run as well Peter 10 points 75 on the outside and many romantics hoping that Hardy would be able to reproduce the magic that he showed so many years ago he kind of lived in Eaton shadow for a long time with a lot of injuries as well the American fir list on the left-hand side here but he to a couple of tents down on what we might have expected from him in this opening event yeah he said just a couple of days ago he said I felt the best recently than I have done for a few years and he said I'll guess I'll find out what that means over the next couple of days so you're right Rob I think it might be a little bit disappointed with that the American and those Peter said one or two when we saw the ease that Meyer ran that first time in one of the earlier races but it's a marathon not a sprint as we say isn't it Peter in terms of 10 events you know you have to measure each athlete by what the expectations are in each of N Mayer is well up Warner is well down and I think heart is a little bit hope against hope you wonderful story if he comes back to do well again but it would be against the form book a little bit Damion Warner the winner of the fourth race of the decathlon 100 in 10:50 from Rico frame would Carl Robertson Yuri and those three finishing well clear our party cassiano Victor and Williamson cyclists and Tzemach but all breaking 11 seconds and so that was indeed living up to the expectations of being the fastest overall off the at the Catherine hundreds so the situation is that Damien Warner leads at 975 points just seven clear a RICO framework and then sent Nicholas Meyer an excellent start fourth place with 99 watch him move up next over the next few events taps particularly tomorrow so those are the first nine some yariv of course in third place they're naughty Oh curse of Nicholas Lee Dutchman who was in 13th place not too much difference in the point scores over the whole field as we just track down to see how they've all started in this competition some of the other favorites there will move up they'll night Felix and trillion of on the list there and the field from 34 starters completed there so the decathletes will move on to their second event of the long jump with occasion continuing in the women's discus parting round number 261 meters and 34 in the first round remember automatic qualifying 62 meters and 50 well that's a bit better from the German a few athletes starting to pep around the automatic qualifying line and hearting with the season's best as I mentioned over sixty three and a half meters so potentially a slight improvement indeed 61 meters and 70 goes second in the group so dim array of Brazil second attempt 60 meters 61 oh yes [Applause] that's over the qualifying line for the Brazilian didn't qualify for the World Championship final in 2011 or the Olympic final in Rio or London but automatically through with this throat nearing a 63 meter line or 62 meters an eighty number one bit queue automatically through to that final on Sunday now Perkovic Center discus the one kilogram discus into the netting in the first round she wants to correct that and get back and prepare for the final on Sunday oh that's better oh it's the speed it's the flight yes you can hear her talking to herself once you'd let it go Wow near the 70 meter line a little bow from the Croatian star one of those athletes when she gets something wrong it fires are up she gets so annoyed with herself and the double Olympic champion a huge throat [Applause] surpassing the automatic qualifying line 70 141 as I mentioned before this season and it did come through indeed at 69 meters and 67 bar we can see the women out for the first of five heats in the 100 meter hurdles first fall from each Plus for fastest losers will return and around about 7 o'clock tonight for the semifinals a busy day for them start in around about 5 minutes time meanwhile back to this discus qualification gyah Lewis Smallwood I know throwing the first round the American well it's gonna drop below the 60 meter line just going back to Perkovic that throw was the longest in any World Championship it's a qualifying round I know for the longest name World Championship since 1991 maybe she should do a no throw into the net every time in the first round Peter and fire herself up because that was huge the statistics are backing it up there she is job done for the Croatian 58-54 Lewis Smallwood puts her in seventh position one more throw for the American so we're into the third and final round of this qualification group a just the two automatic qualifiers so far the rout of Germany then 60 meters and seven th is in fifth position at the moment she's done nearly 64 meters this season but now it's gonna drop once again way below the 60 meter line actually it's been given as a no throw the red flag is raised so 60 meters in 78 she'll end this pool in 5th position but remember we've got 50 more athletes to come in the second wall at twenty-five minutes to twelve local time ACK nag non-stop hulu of greece six times the greek champion 56 91 our best in the first round no that's not going to be an improvement for the greek so she's gonna finish in ninth overall in this group remember the top 12 needed all the 62 more 250 line to throw 61 53 this year but no 55:26 no improvement ninth overall ascending of spain 57 meters in the first round a no throw in the second round their spanish record hold up the national champion again this year oh no the red flag didn't be raised on that one and it dropped on about the 55 meter line so it wouldn't have been an improvement anyway so a lot of athletes understandably Peter putting in the effort in this third round trying to get themselves in the highest position possible before the qualification becomes out and just pulling it a little bit too much yes well I've got a little while to go before we complete that round as we go back to the track yes there they are the barriers are out so we turn our attention to our only track action of the day we've seen the decathletes in the hundred meters this is the heats of the women's sprint fighters Daniel Williams the defending champion has been sitting down on sure it's just part of her normal preparation but there have been a few discussions going on between her and the officials she's the athlete in lane five and she'll start him as the defending champion so I'm sure she will stand up in a moment but there has been a discussion there ahead of the start this then the lineup for the first of the five heats Williams the defending champion in five two key a ovitch of Germany very fast on her outside in six if Edison of Galway into going well this season and there is is about Edison world junior champion a few years ago semies in Beijing and in Rio's 12.75 his season and czarina Belgian national and then how about this Alyssia Barrett just the teenager 600 genius last year 1307 yet to crack that big magic barrier Daniel Williams is now up on her feet the defending champion the sixth fastest athlete in the world this year Diamond League 56 Pamela took the aiviq semi-finalists last year in Rio Sharona Netherlands Fabiana Malaya South American champion and Greta Caracas of Hungary on the outside in nine she's been bullied by far she's bronze in the men's 110 hurdles pettersen Zagreb Barret Williams there the defending champion to Kiev itch backer Marez cleric is well it was a rather surprised gold medal for the EG Macon's with williams two years ago and there actually hasn't been too much for the Jamaicans to celebrate so far hopefully Williams can get her quest to defend her title off to a flying start and they are a Williams going well also running pretty nicely on the far side is Patterson but it's Williams trap to be away here good the defending champion into a fairly strong headwind twelve point six seven that was good running there and I think backer was running well towards the outside as well but that was good work air from the Jamaican rounded down to twelve sixty six she'll be relieved to get that one out the way how much would she love to follow her teammate Omar McLeod as you mentioned robbed Jamaica of its penal medals in the sprints they only have the one and that is from the cloud that was good good qualifying by Williams the world number six this year third at the Monaco diamond leak she won the national championships in Jamaica confirmed at twelve point six six seconds it's time actually throughout the sessions that we've had a headwind like that apart from the scene 2-1 point four in any of the other sprint events but you could see in the center lane she was totally in control of that you could it's the German outside at the Olympics semi-finalists supporting onto a coattails automatically through was the top four that was good running by the defending champion winner would you say in Beijing two years ago I'm gonna get it right when it matters again at the world championships she's the fastest non-american this year which shows you how much the Americans have been dominating this event Daniel Williams is over the first barrier in her quest to defend her title for p.m. each second penicillins Agra the other automatic qualifiers all dipping under 13 so women's discus continues got shoe ski of Australia 54:29 in the first round a no throw in the second round well it's below the 55 meter line she has gone out to 59 94 this season second at the Australian championship this year nights at the Commonwealth Games three years ago in Glasgow so it's not going to be an improvement now 53 meters and 69 11th overall in this just the qualification for a hearting then of Germany fourth at the moment in the group to a final throat well our best is that 61 meters and 70 in the second round so it's going to be no improvement though she's going to finish fourth or they're about to just a couple of throwers left in this qualification for European Championships silver medalist last year 59 41 no improvement Barney took Jamaica now to no throw so far oh it looks like she went over the lip of the front of the circle the red flag is raised so three no throws for the Jamaican well we're running on the track by Danielle Williams in the hurdles heat but you see they're over the front of the circle so three no throws for the Jamaican in qualifying it couldn't go any worse in a field event than that and an athlete in the same position seven over Ukraine sixty 409 this season is you can replicate that she'd get automatic qualifying well it's better but you're only looking at 55 meter line well down for the Ukrainian No 55 meters and 83 is coming through and they well down more championships over for the Ukrainian in the women's discus qualifying after the hungry the shocked at silver as I mentioned her third and final throat 55 meters and 96 is their best now it drops below the 56 55 meter line excuse me so she's going to finish probably about 11th or 12th in this qualification tall so the silver medal in the shot put in her favorite event will be the highlight of the Bulgarian Championships here in London came through is a no throat so down in 10th overall we have the second of the five heats of the women's hundred meter hurdles just getting ready after very fine sprinting by Williams and ducky a in the first of the semis Williams winning in 1266 so let's see how these athletes shape up here's Meagan Simmons of Jamaica so can we get another Jamaican winner every possibility you a second in the Jamaican Championships this year there's the lineup jean of high tea spoons of netherlands Porter Great Britain Kim euro Japan Simmons of Jamaica Ally USA George Canada and Kozak's of Hungary's Simmons one of the big names in certainly near RV also the Olympic silver medalist who goes in Lane seven in this race very experienced Tiffany Porter were the whole series of major championships there's Tiffany Porter what a record she's got the last revisions of the Championships European title and three wars endure medals he really has in that standing start the Great Britain since she opted to compete for them Megan Simmons Shrek through last year when she was the Jamaican champion she has the best food this year to 1263 a mere ally of the USA such a depth of talent in USA women's sprint huddling she serves the best tournament Olympics last year when she was in second place World Indoor champion twice an explosive started look out for her at an early stage Silesia Georgia former finalist and Lucia Kozak European under 23 bronze medalist complete the lineup but very much the stars on this year's forum Simmons in six and Arne on seven because Tiffany Porter with all the range of experience to her credit she goes in name for the american-educated Mullen Jean of IT starts then boons and Porter then Chimaera five times Japanese champion then Simmons then Ally then George and then Kozak exact the youngest in this field in Senegal stop and make a sentence without me next to her Simmons it is in the rest of Jamaica psycho Jamaican win in both these ones with his Simmons who wins it in second place it's Nia third place Felicio George and another excellent run the clock just showing 1278 that's on the pledge oh sell time we'll have to see what the third a finish time is but job well done for the Jamaicans so far in these Sprint's hurdles yes 1278 has been confirmed as the winning time and again a slight head wind but it's reduced a little bit naught point nine meters per second against these athletes it was a good run by Simmons wasn't it the lifetime best of 1263 this year mr. Peter mentioned a little bit of a headwind confirmed at 12 78 in second place but she was out when Jamaican was gone never headed in this second Heat Kimura took the fourth place and of course the disappointment there and she hasn't had a great year but even so Tiffany Porter will be very disappointed to have come six in thirteen point one eight well she's raised so sparingly this year the British athletes there Anna's sister of course world class a sister out for the rest of the season though picking up an injury in Boston so the British athlete will be disappointed with that but you make us so far Williams Simmons good qualification an ally there you gonna see just off the final hurdle a little bit of a stumble but good enough held on to that second place ahead of Georgia of Canada good run from the Jamaican youngster who as Peter said arrived on the scene becoming national champion in Jamaica last year they have a fine tradition in this event and they found another big star Megan Simmons winning in twelve point seven eight from Nia Ali Felicio George and ikuko Chimaera going through to the semi-finals but it may be the Tiffany Porter won't make it only four more on times Valley of Great Britain final round to no throw so far on the discus qualifying well she's nearing a 60 meter line but she's gonna just probably finish in the top 10 in this qualifying pool well she gives the crowd a round of applause the Commonwealth Games bronze medalist in 2014 over 65 meters is a best last year 62 15 this season so she's gonna be near five meters down on her best well 57 meters and 71 eight foger all as the athletes come out with a third heat in the women's hurdles Kenny Harrison as the USA the world record holder set here in London will be next in the third heat of the women's hurdles nip of Jamaica another athlete with two no throws in the first round one final attempt and again probably at about 56 metres for the Jamaican another athlete in personal best form this year's sixty to seventy three ten times the Jamaican champion at the shotput so she's going to get a mark on the board 56 metres in 73 but only 11th in this pool with the second tool to come Caballero well she gives it a yell oh that's better that's over the automatic qualifying line improving their 58 meters and seventy-seven indeed high-fives all around the defending champion for the near 60 for me to throw out the bag in the final round she'll join De Mornay and Perkovic has an automatic qualifier she finally beat Santa Perkovic in the world championships two years ago after seven successive defeats she's put herself in a position with automatic qualifying to try and defend their title Bank of China last round well once again over the 60 meter line don't think it's going to improve on a 62 meter and 48 opener but China doing well here at the wall chaps especially in the women's throws and coupler medals of course in the women shop foot 6195 doesn't improve but she finishes fourth in this a tall well he wrote the Hedgehog has become a bit of a star Rob Walker was on daytime television is all over social media he is very entertaining to say I do like you he can dance as well can see they've got this thing called dance cap going in the stadium little bit of stayin alive moving around and he's trying to encourage the crowd to get involved I'm sure most of the athletes like it so the start this for the third meter 5 in the women's 100 meter hurdles the standout named Kendra Harrison at the USA the Boot Record mod win - so the first four and four fastest to the semi-finals in lane number two there she is the athletes that set the world record here in London last year Kenny Morrison of the USA 12 22 0 seconds last year just remain number 2 Nick Thompson of Jamaica so no teammates running well the former World Youth Championship Emillio bouts of michelle Jenica of australia in for New Zealand Li of Nigerian 5 the sudu in six degrees of Egypt in seven Alina Talia Belarus in eight and Charlton from the Bahamas in lane number nine twelve point seven four seconds a lifetime best this season 21 year old is their national champion so the third heat in the women's 100 meter hurdles Harrison Thompson Jenna Kate Findlay The Sitter do our med today and Charlton the fastest woman of all time the world record holder the record that has stood since 1988 was broken on this track just last year by the athlete in lane two now she comes to try and win the World title there's a clean start Harrison's out well as many of Nigeria in lane number five but the American on the inside short stature quick turnover wonderful technique twelve point six one seconds well we talked about Omar McLeod earlier that's the training partner of Kenny Harrison wonderful form twelve point two eight seconds this season the world leader she hasn't lost for so long wonderful qualifying from the best the world's ever seen Rob Walker yeah she showed real character here last year I was in the stadium watching when she scorched to that world record because inexplicably she had finished outside the top three and we all know how brutal the American qualification system is first-past-the-post three past the post or you're not on the team I thought that showed real character she said a class of her own here Tali came through she and the Jamaican crossing the line in exactly the same time that's why it's taken them a while to separate them Tali being given the nod over the Jamaican five one thousandth of a second charlton of the Bahamas fifteen the n-c-double-a s came through for the fourth spot she's so good Katherine and I was so delighted this year that she got that monkey off of that came through the US trials and she is albeit in an event where something can go wrong in a fraction of a moment's notice she is the overwhelming favorite she's just been outstanding this year world record holder is she destined to become world champion well two years ago she got disqualified for a false start in the semi finals at the World Championships but look at that that's a great shot to show the speed and the turnover that the world-record holder has it lost a race since the US Championships last year Kenny Harrison twelve point six zero seconds automatically through the three athletes behind her they'll go through to the semi-finals at five four seven two night local time the women emerging nearly four of the heat two Olympic champions in this one sunny Pearson just in the background there how she has had to work since falling in Rome in the Diamond League in 2015 breaking two bones in her wrist Pearson is back she's in heat caught along with dawn Harper Nelson Olympic champion in Beijing so we're coming to the conclusion of this qualification group eight in the women's discus jeah Lewis Smallwood her last throw 58 meters and 15 in the second round well it's very similar for the American well she walks out the circle understandably a bit frustrated the US Champion she has gone over 65 meters this season so she has the automatic qualifying of 60 to 50 comfortably but she's gonna finish in 7th position in this qualification group a with another group to come well 58 meters 13 no improvement I mean overall the standard and the discuses have been little disappointing apart of course from that terrific throw by turkey and there it is Peter the 69 meters in 67 wonderful qualifying by her so three athletes in total qualification group a over the automatic qualifying group feet well that's due to start in about 25 30 minutes time I don't warm up here with lysenko whoa only just staying on the mat and that would have given him more than a problem that would have been a headache or two ahead of the qualifying ha job qualifying coming soon meanwhile the second round of the decathlon about to get going yes and that's the situation after the hundred meters Damien Warner leading at 975 points pretty close though with the crime Watson Salieri who finished just behind him in the fastest trace of that event Kevin Maia a brilliant start for him because the Frenchman smashed his personal best well he's not such a good long jumper and that's the next event we've got but he's really off to the sort of start which he could only dream about but we just run down the full point scores for this big field in the decathlon one non-starter from the originally scheduled list of competitors but we have 33 in action because Suarez from 94 points cuz he just sort of crawled across the line in the end and most unlikely that he'll continue we've got two groups of the long jump competing side-by-side and we've got overall and seven men who've done 780 or better a couple at 8 metres and there's the starting order for that first group Hardy van der plates inand Samuelson the 780 Plus jumpers in that particular group and then Group B and amongst those competitors we've got a second group we've got four including to 8 meter jumpers come to them shortly to Hinks left and the women's hundred meter hurdles here is the Paul John Harper Nelson Olympic champion from Beijing in three Sally Pearson Olympic champion right here in London in six on her way back to full health and fitness at last good qualification so far from William Simmons and Harrison Rochelle Lord junior silver medalist last year the Jamaican she'll be hoping to follow her to compatriots into tonight's semifinals twelve point six five this season which strengthened depth in the Jamaicans John Harper Nelson she's been around so long gold in Beijing silver here in London qualifying for the World Championships once again 1266 this season good form not quite as quick as a lifetime best of 1237 then Loeb of Germany shamora of Japan and Sally Pearson world champion in Daegu Olympic champion here in London twice a Commonwealth champion she has won just about everything and at 12:48 she is at last showing signs that she's recapturing her best form then koala of the kina faso bearings of Belgium and clotted Cena on the outside for Ukraine she's gone comfortably inside 13 seconds this season so it's four plus four fastest losses and if you're keeping your eye on the clock the slowest of the fastest loses at the moment is 13 point one four but the question here is Pearson in six can she continue this rehabilitation from injury after that nasty fall in Rome it's taken us so long to get back Burton in 2 for Jamaica Harper Nelson 3 Pearson in 6 first for guaranteed a place in tonight's semi finals there's Harper Nelson champion in three with Burton of Jamaica on her inside I'm gonna stutter they're on the start this has got out really well Burton in the far side and now Harper Nelson trying to get into her running but Pearson's in a class that around here plus it's seen her running on the near side good form there Pearson from Harper Nelson Burton also getting through and it may well have been plotted Cena and Ukraine in the mix for the fourth spot twelve point seven three yes it's not as fast as Kenny Harrison the world record holder but that look pin-sharp to me great start got away from the rest of the field Pearson's back well she is he mentioned the broken bones the dislocated risk in 2015 but let's not forget she miss Rio last year after tearing a hamstring so she's coming back as you say rob from a horrid couple of years the Australian and she took back he didn't she she was aggressive she used it for a good qualification purpose in terms of nailing her start she's always such a good starter Pearson let's not forget one of the fastest hurdlers of all time so she was putting some work in but it was as impressive as I've seen a run for a while she really did pressurize Kenny Harrison at the London Diamond League a few weeks ago until Harrison pulled away but she's coming back the Australian Shaun the Olympic title here didn't she in 2012 she cannot their talk be discounted and it's good to see her back yeah it really is big big start for Australian athletics and she's had to shows some real heart in the last couple of years and great determination brilliant start good running from the young Jamaican on the far side to try and put par for Nelson under a little bit of pressure those three had some distance between themselves and plotted seen her who did indeed get the fourth spot 13:01 Loeb of Germany who's finished fifth has got herself at the moment in a fastest looser spot and half a nelson or you mentioned her experience she's actually for that the US trials but because of the automatic wildcard that Kenny Harrison has she's here in London and it's the force strong team of the Americans isn't it's the rest of the world against the Americans in this sprint hurdles and of course the Jamaicans also have four with Williams having a wild card and all four are through well so it's for the likes of Sally Pearson isn't it and potentially others I couldn't imagine that he's from USA he's from Jamaica fine except for the rest of the world to challenge them isn't it at the moment such as the standard of the Americans and fall with the Jamaicans as Peter said I enjoyed that I'd so enjoy watching Sally Pearson run she's aggressive she's smooth she's technically good let's not forget her 100 speed is impressive she's running 11.1 for yes it was ten years ago over the 100 meters but her base speed and technique is very impressive it certainly is what about this from the world junior silver medalist good run from Rochelle Burton not intimidated at all by the vast experience of the American drawn alongside ER in three big step up from the World Juniors to take part in the seniors she's following Danielle Williams through good performances so far by the Jamaicans but as Kathleen said and Peter is reiterating Pearson is right back to form here she's ducked under 12 5 earlier this season and looks capable of more on the evidence of what we've just seen there Pearson the Olympic champion here five years ago is through Harper Nelson who got the silver five years ago behind Sally also makes it through to the semis as to Burton and plotted Cena Loeb has a fastest looser spot at the moment in fin Kassem long jump underway now and here's Damien Warner who has got a best of 8 meters Oh for not quite as quick in the hundred as we would expect it let's see whether he can recapture some of his sparkle in this long jump oh well no unfortunately not two attempts left of course he'll the competitors have three jumps the end aborted that and ran through no problem there well one wonders about his fitness so we now look at the former champion trey hardee of the USA now that is best 785 743 this year the reasonable start in the hundred meters here he goes in his first long jump what is quick on the runway as Warner of course but he's got a safe jump in and I said his seasons best through 7:43 that must have been around that sort of territory let's no problem there at all perfect on the board so just waiting for the distance to come through for trey hardee there it is season's best 748 so the 5th and final he to the women's 100 meter hurdles swaying from side to side er Cristina Manning of the USA she'll start in lane number 9 3rd at those US Championships 1258 a lifetime best this season which is not the quickest in the field in 2017 a moose out of Nigeria Lane in the lane insider is so that's your full lineup Manning in night the loser liam8 raiding discipline netherlands a flan she'll line up in lane number 6 so there's the full lineup then right at Canada into Herman of Belarus in threes Jonathan Evans Tobago is for Hildebrand of Germany in five there is Nadine Visser of the Netherlands European under-23 champion at this event this year as I mentioned seventh in the heptathlon earlier in the championships a 22 year old 1278 this season younger Korea in seven so the Amazon of Nigeria at the college champion this year over in the USA the 20 year old 12:25 7 seconds the fastest in the field it's just one 100th of a second the head of Manning of the USA so the final here to the women's hurdles Williams Simmons Harrison Pearson automatically through the Final Four automatic spots up for grabs and the fastest two athletes there right in your shot Lane eight a loose on all a nine Manning so a lot of noise around the stadium the men's high jump qualifying is starting but the athletes settle for the final heat in the women's hurdles so a clean start and on the outside Manning of the USA [Applause] urban of Belarus but it's gonna be the American off the final barrier well 28 six seconds well she's in a lifetime best shape this year I mentioned that run of 1258 in the outside line John have Trinidad and Tobago they're running the heats of the Commonwealth Games went crashing down in lane number four but on the outside in a world of her own Manning confirmed a twelve point eight seven seconds ahead of visa she ran well in lane number six coming through in 1296 and the moose an of Nigeria also under 13 seconds in 1297 yeah it was pretty tight for the rest of those stops behind Manning she got a great start and to the white got out the blocks reasonably well over in Lane two but then faded towards the end of the race this uh just out dipping and loose an on the line and a real shame for John she just pulled up and that was a she came crashing to the ground actually Manning then on the near side Visser three lanes up from her just just getting that nod over Alison and then Herrmann just coming through as well that was good good running there from Manning she looked pretty smooth sure was but there's a great worry about Deborah John though who we saw that very nasty fall and she's fallen flat on the face she has not moved since then she's getting medical attention right now and it does look really nasty here and she came tumbling down well you watch the replay the sideline a wonderful shot of Manning since Peter mentioned John Deborah John still getting treated on the track we hope she's okay but this up she did run well didn't she top eight finish in the heptathlon on the center lanes they're in lane number six the five heats have been completed in the big names of William Simmons Harrison Pearson and Manny the five heat winners as I mentioned before the semi-finals tonight just after seven o'clock local time yes it's going to be intriguing to see the battle between the Americans the Jamaicans and the Australian Sally Pearson unfolding and Pearson coming back to form really once again adds another big dimension to this event as they head towards the climax of their competition but the Americans they just seem to have a conveyor belt of Sprint hurdlers so many coming through such talent such strength in depth confirmation then of the fifth and final heat manning 1287 as i mentioned the top three under the 13 second barrier a Herman a Belarus also automatically through here's a full list of those who made it through to the semi-finals which will come up just beyond seven o'clock later on Kenny Harrison while she will be the favorite but Williams the defending champion ran well Pierson the former Olympic champion qualifying impressively Manning Harper Nelson Tali who did so well a couple of years ago two men get a medal near our Lee solicitor George the veteran Canadian making it through got it Cena came through heat for in 1301 and Becker was the slowest of the fastest losers she made it through in 1312 semies coming up at 7 o'clock tonight the Katherine long jumped here's Kevin Maya brilliant hundred meters and here he goes in his first jump in the long jump oh yes a decent start for him this is not one of his better events he's got a personal best hour of 765 and he's got off to a good secure start here there must been probably close to 740 plenty to spare on the board so if his being conservative he can use his next two jumps to try to get ahead this one see it's probably a little less than 900 points here for Maya yep 7 33 jump into a slight headwind now it's the turn of a Deco climate one of the German favorites again not one of his better events but he's got a 760 to his credit a good consistent performer across the range of events his good thrower he comes for his first jump in the long jump and again some of the distance two-mile probably little shorter but well over seven meters a good safe start there quite a number of the competitors in this event have had in fact no jumps and certainly not the case for primer do it 31 centimeters to spare on the board there using the hang technique now he goes and it's 7-eleven for Friday so it's got us performance in the bag now he can seek to go further ciliary impressed in the 100 meters running a time of just one hundredths of a second short of his best and again he's got a personal best identical to prime wood of 760 is his first job oh that's again similar jump we're seeing these outfits land in the short of the 750 area white flag raised this is a promising youngster the Estonians of Yuri so just take a little check with Cochin 734 Salieri now side by side we've got the other pool and here we've got Tyco asthmatic of Germany an athlete with the best of 769 and one of the candidates for a top position in the decathlon overall oh that's better yep that's a certainly a season's best at least for the German Kaczmarek who has a destacar on score of 8580 points sixth in the world 600 Dix the last two editions of that event and he's got a decent start here in the long jump the best jump we've seen trihard is 748 and chasm Eric's up to 729 I'm Sebastian Hill Salette of the Czech Republic who was second in the European Championships just over seven meters again and not one of his better events but he has done 760 indoors so at the moment most of the jumpers we're seeing jumping a little short of their best sort of form but on the other hand is is so important together good reasonable score at least to start with and you can seek to go for other on the next two jumps and he'll select only just over seven meters there at 7:03 do - the Serbian was a man who sparkled in the 100 meters when he won his race Serbian record holder and the decathlon at 8 to 75 points European bronze medalist this is 3rd world championships in the decathlon big strong man and a consistent performer over the range of events and those similar jump to that were not number that we've seen in the what 720 plus area so no Sparkle yet no I think no come back to the days of Daley Thompson or Ashton Eaton who would produce their 8 meter jumps because no one's got over 750 at this early stage of the event still in the first round of course as the competition dudas seems reasonably content that he's got oil indeed 741 I think as the second best we've seen so far and again SP seasons best for him [Applause] but in the row of Norway another man who former credits in the 100 metres coming towards the end of the first set of competitors in Group A this is Martin Rose got a best of 750 just over seven metres therefore the Norwegian Martin ro8 144 dekat feet [Applause] perhaps take that run out like a little bit up he goes game hang and put of seven meters oh six but you know when they even say look according of what - more point one they're just in the Lee of the back straight over on this stadium so plenty of support from the fairly big crowd now over there it's an excellent crowd for morning session certainly okay Sookie Kushiro of Japan is our next jumper well he's only gone just over seven meters this year he has got a best of 7 meters 45 national champion 2014 at the Japanese record holder at the decoction let's jump in the long jump that's well shorten first several meters and notice is not one of his better events but that's a little disappointing strapping around the knees so you may be struggling a little bit pretty lackluster performance [Applause] two fifths of this song Jeff going side-by-side still no 750 plus jumps and rushiro here well short of that as his distance comes up at 657 do you think was an injury question about him so bastia Ozai of France is just preparing for his jump as the officials ready break that pit to make sure it's absolutely smooth [Applause] Bastien per se his Manor claim to fame he was World University Games silver medalist and he also competed in these championships two years ago in Beijing when he was 13th overall again man who hasn't yet back to that target of 7 meters this season 27 year old Frenchman Ostia cosa he - like the Japanese of Shiro's well short of the 17 July so just one jumper left in this group a of the long dumped in the decathlon [Applause] it's a 6:17 modest start for Jose that takes his a total after two events up to 1527 points next we'll have the strongman from Algeria the RT Berardi he's got a best long jumper 749 that Rd the African record holder which he set last year he had been on cuts in have been slotting that their father rounded between them for Guerra 2521 points it's best if you think we capture that sort of for me will be pretty high up the standards I think the support from the crowd only limited response at this stage quite finished the first set of jumps in the other group incidentally at the moment you still got trey hardee with the best jump of the day at 7:48 the stadium announcer is actually arguing the card onto happy decathletes down the runway as we look again at Barada yeah I think the face tells the story 704 for the Algeria is here in some trouble as well well meanwhile we have two qualification groups going on or about to start in the early stages but the men's high jump boots us s of our Xin to 38 great performer bondarenko will hope to go well and who could forget Don Thomas winning in Osaka after being introduced to the sport by his friend just a matter of months earlier qualification group B welcher bill Co has been performing really well the German this year good to see tan Barry back off of that home friend this injury last year that denied him a place in the starting lineup in the Olympic Games Eric Cunard of the United States he's been around for a while and then picks up medalist here five years ago but speaking of Cunard he is an opening effort at 217 and unfortunately he must be arriving here carrying a little bit of an injury the Olympics on that list yeah from five years ago limping through there and that is a real shame fifth in Moscow bronze in the world indoors last year so canard silver medalist five years ago in this very Stadium not experiencing that kind of luck here all those years on real shame canard is gone so back to the decathalynn long jumpin here's trey hardee who finds himself in the situation that his 748 is the best jump so far and he's there for when you put the points together lying in second place overall so a decent start for the American as he would just love to really gain the titles that he won back in 2009 and 2011 lot of no jumps incidentally so far by many of the competitors in this decathlon putting some of the big names Victorian we bow for instance in this particular group so here comes trey hardee then seen if he can go better than what is already achieved a season's best 748 accelerating down that runway hits the board no not quite as far like raised but that was more like a seven twenty years ago see the indicator board there which has both the time left to compete and also the wind misses a little against them at 1.3 meters per second on that jump of 729 Damien Warner just getting ready he'll be the first jumper in group beans Warner and ev'ry captured the sort of form he's shown in the past from me he didn't eat oh four and he's one of two men Cassiano being the other one who in their careers have exceeded that international standard I strong number of eight meters prymaat just in the background behind him he'll be following him with Kevin Myer in between those two so three of the big names in the decathlon starting off the second round of Group B he's looking for support from the crowd we know before DC they're certainly the crowd is responding to the Canadian Olympic medalist [Applause] so Damien Warner Sprint's down the long jump much faster than any of the other men of course and again that's a little disappointing as Lee started this to kaplan with the sort of performances that one would have expected from the canadian who's performed with such distinction in recent years in the event and obviously one of the men hoping to be the successor to the great Ashton Eaton in the event course he was the fastest in the hundred meters but the two tenths downs what we'd expected and he's improved of course at 7:27 and he's still in first place in the event gained it's all the points down of what we might have looked for from him and expect warmer to be well ahead of Kevin Myer after the first couple of disciplines but Meyer is much closer than the reformed book would have indicated now Maya looking for support Maya 25 years of age brilliant performance in Rio so good to eat on the medication here he comes down the long jump started with a decent performance can he extend it oh he can he hand look at the result without their lead alight on the young Frenchman's face personal best of 765 and he's got close to that this is a fine performance and he really has started this decathlon with great fire and delivering the performances it's good height on that jump had he goes let's just see what his distances charlie an improvement on his opening jumps yep 737 another four centimeters gradually creeping up in the points tally now after we've seen Warner and Maya and other of the big favorites will be next in action in this pool be and that's a Rico promote of Germany his father was a top decathlete 25 years or so ago but prymaat himself the bronze medalist from two years ago in Beijing started with 7/11 good speed not so much height picture I think that will be an improvement again as the white flag is raised to do finals gives himself a little crap [Applause] was the sort of thing we would expect to see from these big men gradually improvement through the three rounds that they are allowed much bigger improvement 748 and in fact he's taken over the lead now overall in the standings ahead of Damien Warner who's the no par so far so that's 748 match you see best jump we've seen today that of trey hardee in round one now cuz you're not this is the other seven meter man that was a little while ago indoor jump of 804 but he has done 763 this season so let's see what the Ukrainian can do this main problem these days in the Katherine is he has a a dodgy elbow for the quarterback and he's restricted in how far he can throw the chaplain and the penultimate event of the competition but the long jump is a good one for the Ukraine [Applause] and a nice mid to semi the jump one would have said except has the dreaded red flag so a problem for casiano too much earlier that isn't gonna have just any little distance and it's a difference so he's got trouble because to no jumps and another one would be at a absolute disaster though he's being told exactly what he's got to do it's got to execute and now we have another man who's started well with his hundred meters Carl of Roberts Salieri of Estonia put him up into third place in the standings at the end of the 100 meters great tradition in Estonia of course the great okie Newell was their star who was followed around the world in this tracks all over the world with a great contingent of estonian supporters and then supposedly already has quite as many yet so let's see what the young man can do yeah that looks good yes white flag so that's okay and I think this will be a decent performance let's see do better than that those arms through all those through and just waiting for the distance 7:29 so no improvement but consistent [Music] now switching back to the other group and we can see Kai Kozma at the Germany line seventh overall started with the seasons fest 729 powerful run down that runway oh that's better yeah surely that's well over 750 so Kaz Kaz Murdoch can be pretty happy I think with that one just be getting on towards his 769 personal best [Applause] gasmer Nick as I've mentioned before was 6th and Olympics and sixth in Beijing two years ago he's also done very well in the IAF combined events challenge over the years yes 764 that's the best jump we've seen yet then and it takes him up to third place overall at 18 51 points so that the captain continues and in the women's discus his qualification Group B this is your lineup remember three automatic qualifiers from the first group led by Senator kovitch is wonderful throw of 69 meters and 67 big group though all chasing that automatic line of 62 meters in the 50 lady Muller of Germany for Ward number six this year world silver medallist in 2011 so opening her account Perris of cuba the world number two this year 69 meters a 19 at her best oh that's flying there you go that's what bercovich wanted to do in qualification group lane yeah her coach is happy first round first throw no mark in the Olympic final last year in Rio was really disappointed Perez but the former world junior champions flying over the 62 meter 50 qualifying line as expected for an athlete in forum 65 meters and 58 job done she'll be back on Sunday for the final Dani Stevens of Australia good form this year 66 meters and 78 first round throw oh that's good oh yes way over the 65 meter line in Berlin in 2009 she became the first Australian to win a global title in a throwing event the world champion in Berlin fourth in Rio last year then automatically through to the final on Sunday so taro 65-58 through and Steven 6556 automatically qualified after no jump it's Kurian off with his second jump in the long jump long hair flying and he's got a Bali jump in this time as he doesn't look very happy with it and he certainly wasn't very happy with his 100-meter race yep the white flag raised the board with the score at least reminded his European bronze medalist a couple of times in 2012 and 2014 run a European indoor title at the heptathlon which is the 7 event discipline they undertake indoors and he's started then 7:29 [Applause] now then cut Felix another man who had a no jump to start with and the granadan again one of the favored competitors here who's at Boise State University in the USA mate last time all right such very good indeed but Felix how dare said it's very good it was a long way but the red flag uh that means he's got to no jumps decent some trouble here there Martin row of the North nor as we switch back to who two rounds in this competition is getting a little ahead in fact at first maybe which is going at a slightly slower pace so row started with 706 and he's currently in 11th place in the Dickens for this best-of-seven 50 it's down that runway see the clock just to came down there pinch of time across there without a minute it's at 46 seconds standard victor the other grenade and just behind him [Applause] it's clapping down the runway was really pioneered by the great windy banks triple jumper at the time of the first World Championships back in 1993 here comes Martin row the second jump in the long jump for him improvement some way ahead I would say of his opener should we come up in the standings boots in places or sir Vantage of modern technology and showing just the gap they are behind the board he was close he's a post seven 60 personal best no wonder is some 50 rather personal best no wonder he's happy that say personal best Adachi equals his PB now didn't Devin Williams another man who started with a no jump Devin Williams who's the brother of the u.s. HEPT athlete Kendall Williams that's better the Williams is NCAA champions Devon at the University of Wisconsin oh that's good is he happy with that no question but it was living a bit dangerously after starting with an O jump yeah 7:39 say he's up into 8 now back in the discus rubber me sharp of France Olympic silver medal last year in a fifth Olympic Games well over the automatic qualifying of 62 meters and 50 joins Peres and Stevens in this fruit fourth in London here just missing a medal five years ago at those Olympic Games so six athletes now with the two tools combined over the automatic qualifying distance and as expected Valene out of a barely shot is one of them sixty-three 97 just two jumps to go in these on jumped in the first pool of this competition we've got a situation here the casma wreck has the best jump of the day 7 meters 64 here indeed is Jose the Frenchman well below seven meters on his opening jump we routine now for the athletes to ask the crowd for their support I think the crowd a knowledgeable enough that they do it in any case [Applause] but now immigrations again well short seven meters so while his compatriot Kevin Mayer is flying a skier Jose not going so well he suggests that run up counter for to give away 25 centimeters minor improvement then 674 would have been ahead to end again this is reducing Li jumps just that little bit and now it's again Lobby Barada who's just over seven meters the first round trying to focus on the competition put all the things going on around them out of the way and of course there are two poles operating side by side dappled sunshine over on the far side it's about under the roof it's been extended for these first two games in 2012 so concentrated still within that minute now he's ready [Applause] I'll be good over there the final count for brown - now that looks over 72 this time and I think possibly by a little more than he was first time when he went out to 704 but the African record holder still some way short of his best he got off to a good start of course in Leeds hundred meters when he ran a 10-8 [Applause] [Applause] it's the last jump of the Kouhei of the long jump gained a little bit of a headwind for the jumpers just reduce the distances a little bit just waiting for the distance and it was indeed a very improvement up to 722 meanwhile in Group B we've got a number of competitors still to go for fact the second jumps in his son Nicholas who started with a no jumpers and no problem this time for the Dutchman I think just waiting for him to come out of the pit come out of the pit behind the landing area so the white tag was raised so relief holds the oakerson Nikolas after that no jump to started he's got a personal best of 765 in the long jump around the middle of the pack and he's got off to a decent start of 731 and he's now in 11th place [Applause] well now the one British competitor in the decathlon another man he was a very good long jump for his done 770 he often competes in that event in major championships in Britain and he's the one British competitor he to those started with a know jump Commonwealth silver medalist and get a tremendous support from the crowd and hear the roars going on the background Union Jack's raising mapping behind him so Ashley Bryant and he rised the occasion can be inspired by the support he's getting the Catholics don't often compete with such a fervid enthusiasm behind them from all around this stadium there he goes Ashley Brian's rising crescendo of sound from the crowd job well done job well done grounded jump so we can really go for it in the final ones it is played safe so let's hope he can add that sort of distance when it comes to the final jump of the competition it's good fight there and shows that he's a very decent long jumper but 7:26 is nonetheless still pretty well short of what he'd been looking for so we'll have to see how he goes in the final goal bit of trouble here poor Jang second attempt to 22 well that's better burn as it contacts the crowd the the Chinese commentators behind us have been going absolutely wild Shang a real character as you could see a little bit of a wobble for him that's better [Applause] it's a better celebration we've seen so far in the championship from one Chinese athlete to another chen in the discus qualifying second round no throw in the first round oh that's better over the automatic qualifying line of 62 meters and 57th in the Olympics last year in Rio the Asian champion this year head down whips the arm through well she kept herself in the circle and his she sure passed that 62 meters and 50 yep 62 meters and 71 automatically through we're into the third and final series of jumps now in the decathlon long jump and this is trey hardee with his third round attempt nope no improvement again he said a couple of jumps in that 720 area after getting off to a very satisfactory start with seven meters forty-eight that at the time and indeed for quite a while was the best jump of the competition but he hasn't been able to replicated or indeed go any further despite hitting board nothing virtually to spare just going over little off balance there and as I said it's not as far so that's his two rounds completed he's up to 1847 points now then Damien Warner can he recover some of the ground that he's lost already so far in this the captain because although he won the hundred meters is 1050 was some way short is 720 long 77 long jump his well down what he might have liked so he comes here as one of the favorites for me Kevin Meyer definitely the favorite the Warner slipping back in the chances because you'd expect him to lead by a comfortable margin after the first two events as it is he's currently lying second as we saw from the scorecard that's how Israeli Damien Warner fastest man in this field and clapped on by the other decathletes and that's maybe better but it's not as good as one would have expected so this is not going according to plan I would suggest for the Canadian to see how much she's added here warner who's got a score this year at of eight thousand five hundred and ninety-one points now 744 there Warner who won the Gert sister Kathleen this year the grapes competition in Austria in late May which is attended by nearly all the top athletes Maya didn't take part this year he's been content to contest some individual events in France who wanna try out ones that he hasn't done at the Kaplan but he is going well here oh yeah so is that okay yes it is so Maya displaying great form here started with 733 and improvement to 747 in round 2 when he was fed up behind the boarders indeed he is they're really just touching the edge of it let's just see what this distance does but I think we can count himself happy he started the decathlon these two days of competition in excellent form so let's see yup he is happy it did look a good one and we're gonna get the confirmation there it is 752 for Maya up to 1869 points Freiburg comes next onto the runway German who we saw improve spectacularly in the previous round to 748 and probably similar anyway let's say that's just wait to see what the distance comes out at his father your top competitor as if it games that can Seoul 1988 Rico yet to beat his father's total and just short of his previous effort then we're seeing a lot of the top competitors in the start of competition here in Pool B because it's Alexei kasatonov now he's got a problem he's had to no jumps so he needs to use all his experience he's got plenty of that just to go for it this time 2x is just what you do not want to see as young can he get a valley jump in on his last chance at this event well looks anxious Lee it's okay yep he's done it not a very good jump by his standards of course for an eight meter man but nonetheless he's got a score vitally important he's going to end up in a decent position in the event there it is 728 after 17 93 points [Music] [Applause] salary follows him and again when looking at me dating competitors in group V there's no significance in a and B in terms of relative standards that are simply split and draw shield the youngest Aries [Music] it's okay psych himself out there he's done study were in this competition certainly started the hundred meters well so it's a good first two events for Hillary of Estonian these decathletes will be expected to come back in about an hour's time for this shot which will be the third competition of this first session on day eight here and these include two 749 fairing third at 1895 [Applause] well Jerrod Robinson is in all sorts of trouble here third attempt to 2:22 oh my goodness me while the Americans have lost Eric Cunard the Olympic silver medallist having to retire and the second American in this group Robinson is out continues the women's discus and the decathlon long jump as well in the sunshine down the backstraight Peter we've got to scurry north of Russia and the B pool who will be next to go now the big names of this event a man with a best of 1778 the Russian who is competing as a neutral athlete here we just pan across the arena nice crowd in for this morning session she's going over that long hair tucked up at the back there he hasn't started too well at the moment [Music] their jump followed by 729 his way down the standings lat moment in 19th place a man that the plenty of championship success to his credit will be looking for a much better than that so here comes curry enough then in his last attempt in the long jump was it illegal jump yes it was yes it was so he has indeed added some points to his tally to move up the standings to see what the distance is so experienced a competitor of course the best of seven 78 in the long jump most of the athletes cleared it down on their best it's still probably kulish over there in the leave the big stand over there but he has done a good jump 762 now then sink on of Thailand and expect athletes the pixel in the decathlon except this young man is very promising that's a decent jump to buy sink or sink on has made big progress this season he's the Asian champion this year got an overall score at the national record 773 two points long Jeff obviously one of his best events in fact his personal best is 779 and he had a wonderful Championships in the Asian event there because he set personal bests in the way through it he's a rising man Asian or there's an excellent jump again 765 so we are saying several of the jumpers doing their best right at the last but Adam he'll so that certainly needs to do better than he has so far with those two modest jumps seven meter territory wonderful tradition in Czech Republic cause Decathlon Elsa let is the man who's standard bearer right now no much better though I'm afraid is still that seven meter territory will solve all things for the Czech Republic you think of the right secret war jock who won this title three times disappointing card for hell slept on the best of 703 and we're coming to the end of the jumpers in Group A and this is the Serbian record holder me how dude s already with her 741 jump to his graduate today I doubt if that's any better similar consistent jumping by the Serbs European bronze medalist large terraces so major credit no he's a World Junior medalist over six nine years ago I mean there are there abouts just thank you steady progress over the years there it is 746 a little improvement he's in seventh in 1842 now halfway through the final rounds in the Lea Kurt Felix but he again is a man like we saw earlier with Cassiano who started with two no jumps native support team worried at this stage for third fields I wonder let's just have a look at that oh it's okay it's okay I just was wondering a little bit from a long way away where we are from the athletes over on the far side of the track but that was okay in the end Egypt pretty much as well as he'd like to have done so relief for Kurt's Felix needs granadan double NCAA champion who's got a valid performance in Felix 746 is up to 1768 points women's discus qualification Group B final throat for suit of China 61 metres and 35 she's in a good position top 12 comfortably where she's looking to get over 62-52 confirm and she does indeed so party of this season and that's what it means she'll be back for the final on Sunday coming through 63 meters exactly automatically through teammate Chen given there a hug and congratulations mother of Germany she's been a little bit down so far the German are that's better the best was 62 47 in the second round the bronze medal is two years ago in Beijing [Music] silver medalist from 2011 and the world number six automatically through as well 6335 Devin Williams on the runway I'm 12 739 in the second round for the American [Applause] similar jump against for Williams now the American women heft athletes are all a little bit below par when it came to their multi event and one just wonders about the Americans here but actually Trey Hardy's got off to a decent start and Devin Williams will not bad [Applause] I'm just waiting to see whether this will be any better than his 739 earlier yep 744 so he moves up a place to 1796 well here is GUI Zhang we saw him ignite the crowd needing two attempts at 222 this is Last Chance Saloon for the silver medalist from Beijing two years ago and he's gone well something was clearly not clicking for him today he is a huge personality as he saw by his reaction when he went clear at 2:22 but it was not to be a repeat of his glorious silver medal two years ago in Beijing he can be a little bit inconsistent didn't qualify for Rio last year having got on the global podium in China the year before has gone over to 31 this season so he'll be bitterly disappointed with that he took off way before the bar Rob didn't he the high point was just thing that completely the wrong place but his colorful socks reflect his personality that's a loss entertainment wise as well as obviously athlete will visit the men's high jump so here's the summary then at the qualification group a and B combined Sandra Perkovic of Croatia leading away with that huge throw of 69 meters in 67 nine athletes in total went over the 62 meter and 50 line they'll come back to the final on Sunday only to world championship finals have ever had throws over 70 meters why not be needed but the forum that sounded a Perkovic is in it might just be a big throw on Sunday that gets to the world title so good conditions for the female discus throwers this morning what application done and dusted they'll rest up and come back for the final day of action on Sunday now this is the last jump of a full day of the long jump and once again we look at the Algerian gerado certainly takes his time for tearing making sure he's absolutely focused on what he has to do powerful man can you get further beyond seven meters well maybe a little but not much is the answer there so Barada will be one of the competitors readers comes I'm a little disappointed it's time to make up these had no disasters with Turk he's not performed quite as well as he usually does when he's at his best I have been worried about whether he is some sort of injury problem and see where they anguish there as his distance comes up that's the just short of his 722 in round two Tom Thomas champion in Osaka remember after discovering his form having been a basketball player oh dear oh dear while Shang went out in Group B and Thomas exits at 226 that is a sad end to the competition for the man from the Bahamas he's out now we have just three jumps to go in the long jump to they're all in Group B and first of all it's the British athlete Ashley prior to on his previous attempts a terrific support from the crowd just thinned out a little bit maybe one or two or thinking about lunch but nationally Brian will be thinking about whether he can get a lot more points in the bag in the long jump because he is a 770 jumper 726 he was a very conservative jump in the previous round when he took off way below before the board so he didn't really go for it this time he's down in 21st place at the moment and a decent jump here could move him up several positions from that clapping starts Crowder with him Ashley Bryant on the runway the Commonwealth silver medalist bidding for England competing in the British colours finally after the competition for Bryce we wore increases in volume as he goes down there let's better yeah just what he wanted wore the right tribe being raised right intact and he's done well here it was better still playing a little safe that I know the party could go at his very best nonetheless this is easily his best jump of the competition and it's 7:44 he's moved up to 16th place at 1740 [Music] yo get your anger from Spain European team championship winner this year in the super league Goodspeed and I champion the 720 sir he's a little disappointed with his shake of his head [Applause] so just one jump to go in fact after urania it'll be the Americans at Z mech to complete the long jumping decathletes we'll have a little break before they come back from the short kill this is Tzemach Tzemach was a competitor in the Rio Olympic Games he was seventh on that occasion can he go better than the 708 that we saw from him in round 2 he was a fair bit over the board there so no is the answer to my question and that concludes the long jumping so well we'll get the standings in just a moment or two but I can tell you that at the top of the list it is very close indeed after two events meanwhile as the long jump comes to a conclusion we will turn our attention for a few minutes to the high jump to 29 and it's a clean card so far for Brian McBride so he's faring much better than his compatriots in Pool B Robinson and canard have gone and McBride making yet another first time clearance oh yes he's in cracking called here and he's pumped up for it as well national champion really good stuff there from McBride in theory it's 231 for automatic qualifying or a course place in the top 12 Habakkuk authorized neutral athlete yeah me too just like the thrive as a clean card so far Lutz has fashioned the second best jumper in history with 243 all my goodness me he takes on as if he's got strings in his heels he's back in good form isn't he robbed the world leader as you mentioned godless seasons ago let's not forget we were talking about world records left right and center has being possible but that was good and on in of Germany looking to follow suit that's good stuff from the European bronze medalist I still can't get over the quality that clearance from Barcia he really does seem as though he's drinking once again Lysenko yet to miss yes the Russian competing of course as a neutral TV this year chip 34 national champion and he too is going well [Applause] time that very well indeed [Applause] [Music] so plenty of celebrations going on ghazal here we go the man from Syria e to performing really well here just asking the crowd to get involved and they are responding Syrian record holder certainly generated plenty of noise carried the flag for Syria in wallop Shaw was a very poignant moment for him in Rio and here in London five years ago 232 this season smooth progress so far yes Wow what a reaction a proud man and he continues his clean car now Rivera has been living dangerously 2:26 can he make slightly smoother passage over to twenty nine but yes he can that's the biggest celebration we've seen so far fantastic from the Mexican his brother won a bronze in the long jump a few years ago in Moscow and the de catenin we've had two events and this is the long jump of best for cincone 765 and Casimir Atkins Guillen are following closely behind Damien Warner though well below format 744 same distance of the British athlete Ashley Bryant and there's the rest of the card as we span through the men who had just over seven meters indeed some of them just under that including Weibo who is devoted for disappointing so we've had two events in the hundred meters and the long jump computer has done its miracle and look how close they are at the top prymaat leading by just three points from both Warner and Salieri Kevin Maia who'sa started really well the bench favorite in fourth place than Kazmir at Hardy do - but only just 50 odd points separating those first seven we spin down the card here now some of the other big names going over little below car Kurt Felix came good in the long jump in the end of this final attempt there over 1700 points here another granadan linden victor also little down what one might have look for it's still plenty of time to go over the next two days and there are now only 32 men still in contention this is pool a silver a bit like Ribera needed three attempts at 226 wonderful get a similar reaction oh well we might have done it be clear it the South American champion a few years ago you will have to come back before another attempt group B we have lysenko and ghazal who have cleared to 29 but in Group A we have had five men so far who have cleared so seven in total across the two groups have achieved to 29 now Chapel Co the German as we look at Robbie brothers actually the British bronze medalist from London [Applause] he's a real character Robbie guffaws not quite clicking on that occasion - good clearances at 22 and 26 but he'll come back for two more attempts on 229 they can Robbie a while to get back to the form that took him to the Olympic podium his best in 2012 was 237 but he's heading back in the right direction - 31 this season Robertson six in the US trials last year managed to go because those ahead of him yet to achieve the qualifying standard 12 the world indoors important as well 230 this season so this would be pretty close to his season's best Robertson for 229 5 we're already over in this group No [Applause] Brian McBride is can't a tree is going really well at the moment the Robertson will have another two attempts now this is this is cheb ilka second attempt to 229 Massey PD this year of 235 a breakthrough season yeah that's more like it produce when he gets it right German champion this year Sam berry this would be a season's fest for the Italian who has been through an awful lot with injuries yes I'm so delighted to see him clear that this man has been to hell and back World Indoor champion last year he was on fire heading towards real megaman injury denied him the chance to compete in rio this is Bondarenko yes champion in Moscow joint silver in Beijing 242 in his best he's the fourth best Jumper in history second attempt clearance therefore Bondarenko bars if so please for Chambery the injury to his ankle in Monaco just before Rio last year was agony to watch and you can hear him on the pit shouting no No as he knew his chance of competing a trio was gone so Prosecco world indoor bronze medalist back in 2014 can he make it over to 29 yes he can he also is a 240 jumper and his very best that was back a couple of years ago so that's ten men now over 229 and it's the top 12 so maybe maybe these men will not be forced to jump again for 231 yes so I wonder if that's a little clue there that sound very will indeed shave half his beard off that's how we're used to seeing him as you can tell he's a bit of a character Ferrara second attempt here former South American champion [Applause] just started a little bit on the end run there so he'll have one more chance even our second attempt at two to nine he is an Olympic finalist just missed the medals in the Europeans last year as well the Bulgarian yes much better they're also just off the podium of the European indoors this year [Music] now Michael Mason last chance for the Commonwealth bronze medalist 229 no [Music] bitterly disappointing for the Canadian and American silver medalist on home territory in Toronto the Canadian is out Wang of China national champion two years ago he knows Jiang has gone but his dreams are still alive [Applause] I could leave the less well-known of the two Chinese athletes but he's the one still in it thirteen over 229 now Yanis burn attempt the South American champion he's getting close to his lifetime best here just broken the venezuelan record to get up to 221 a 231 are so close just seem to brush the bar at the very last minute that's a real shame because he's come here in excellent form just brushed it there with the back of his thighs good season for Llanes Ferreira American junior silver medalist on the under-23 x' to all-powerful youngster only 22 getting himself pause this would be a clearance just a single centimeter beneath his lifetime best getting himself ready and then to him pumping himself up now he wants to help with the crowd respond Ferrara for what would be a massive clearance for him he's only 22 come on oh yes great stuff there a big moment for the Brazilian and he's cleared it great composure his kampachi at silver what one can do it'd be the other compassion a both Brazilians in a matter of 125 seconds or so clearing 229 he needed three attempts to get over 226 and he too is now only a centimeter beneath his lifetime best that's why he's fired up Robbie grab-ass Olympic bronze medalist here in London five years ago beginning to get back to that kind of core second attempt needs this for a place in the final yes listen to the reaction from the crowd Thresher moments there for grab-ass in front of his home crowd and he delivered he is when he's in the mood the man for the big occasion well is equal fourth in Rio last year battles so many injuries robbery bars but loves this track of course as you say shared the Olympic proms here five years ago good clearance under pressure Bednarik bronze medalist back in Berlin won in Ostrava this year giving himself a stern talking-to here it was all pretty good up to 26 just the one thing yeah needs this the world junior silver medalist as well there looks a bit emotional actually Bednarik 28 years of age these guys I mean I know mentally the athletes struggle sometimes if things go wrong with the high jumpers I'm really put through the psychological wringer and not to be this time called Bednarik so he's been trying to get over to 29 a nation lifetime best of 2:30 and she said most clear this there are now 16 men over 229 so maybe maybe they will have to have a look at 2:31 can the Malaysian be the 17th clear at 229 nope not close I'm afraid he salutes the crowd a decent effort getting over to 26 the second time of asking and one by one they are beginning to fall by the wayside the stage we play because up next is the American Ricky Robinson here is Travis compatriots Jerome Robinson Multi decorated Eric Canard they've gone from cool be Brian McBride his compatriot has had a flawless card so far Robertson needs this if he is to stand a chance of getting through to the final big moment it's the whole attention of the stadium on him at this precise second oh yes my goodness me he managed to bend his body around the park brilliantly their great athleticism and he is now the 17th man clear at 229 so we are definitely now going up to 231 now we needed 12 and sometimes discretion of the officials they took one or two extra but now 17 guys delivering when it batters to 31 will be the next height wonderful conditions the crowd on that top bend they're absolutely loving this mentai job qualifying Boyd of course that Robbie gray bars continues in the competition for Britain right we will turn our attention to Paul be where the bar has been raised to 231 [Music] good quality across the board here Catherine said great conditions in the stadium and the only other people in the stadium over getting ready will the shop put down the other end of the arena meanwhile mrs. life Sanko and russian competing under a neutral black third best Jumper in the world this year with 234 miss for 231 he was going to get there you need to come back for at least one further attempt perfect card up until that stage 17 clear at 229 bar has now been raised on the other jumping group to 231 [Music] now ghazzal first time clearances all the way through so far he is an important bigger back home in Syria for all the obvious reasons and he has been for a long time blackberry in London blackberry in Rio who wears his country's colors proudly on his vest here he goes for 231 Oh what that was going to stay up not to be this time [Applause] dondraico first attempt at 2:31 yes we wanna champion from Moscow and the silver medalist from Beijing now just one centimeter shy of his seasons best [Music] good stuff there from Bondarenko 2:42 back in 2014 what's good to see Bondarenko coming back to something like top form because he was so brilliant a couple years ago he and bar team particularly had great rivalry and we were beginning to speculate even about attempts on the world record which circle my all set so long ago Brian McBride 2:31 he's clearly a rideshare meaning business well there's his first mini disappointment as he leaps off the bed bribed the National Champion so loves playing volleyball so 17 men still at the moment in the hunt for a place in the final which will be at the start of our last session of athletics I think around about 7 o'clock on Sunday night in van you up there competing under the neutral flag a disappointment for him but it's good to see high jumpers actually taking part in such good conditions here today just about perfect for that and that really here is the man the favorite I loved watching this bloke when he gets it right and he's in the groove he just seems to fly oh my goodness me he's clearing these lights for fun he really has a riot here in chip-chop for 2:38 in our slope back in mid-june he's flying well he certainly shared their just y1 we regard him as the favorite never seen little stutterers approach with no dropping him at all he cleared it by a good margin there there's plenty to come now let's hope when it comes to final we get in attempting such actors to 40-ish onon European bronze medalist last year this would be a season's best for the German [Applause] wanna jump that was quite Vashon and surely 2:31 will of course be enough we may well have enough casualties here Robbie grab-ass just keeping cool now Rivera has already produced a lifetime best with that first time clearance at 229 that's why he went so wild in celebration could this be another talking himself through it getting himself ready Mexican moved his life over to Cologne where he trains at the I double-a of my jump center as I mentioned earlier his older brother got a bronze in the long jump back in Moscow very talented family bidding for a second successive PV here in the London sunshine not quite [Applause] so that's cool a this is Matias triple Co second attend two 2:31 it has been a breakthrough season for the 25 year old yes that is great we will see him in the final and he is the second biggest jumper in the world this year behind bars in big clench of the fist he's in the final team are here Eve Arnold made the Olympic final last year this would be a lifetime best no so at the moment just to bring you up to speed we've had bondarenko and Bosh in two of the big hitters from a clearing we've seen should bilko getting over and this is Gasol the very proud Syrian 30 is of age now [Applause] a long time this would mean a lot to him those two seasons best not to be Lysenko second detector 231 oh yes [Music] great work there he's only twenty two Russian of course competing here as authorized neutral athlete this is wine he's seen is more decorated compat reott go out here he goes 231 the 25 year old will have another couple of chances France Enco world indoor bronze medalist three years ago [Music] the long way short there [Music] so for over 230 one Trabuco Lysenko Bondarenko and bar ship Robbie gray bars preparing to tackle 2:31 generated a massive reaction from the crowd and it clear 229 this would equal his season's best can he be inspired by the stadium in which he produced arguably his finest moment the Olympic bronze this will generate the big reaction from the crowd in two attempts left for Robbie remember only four over to 31 at the moment so rubbers having a little bit of a conversation Ricky Robertson while we saw him requiring a third time clearance at 229 lying in 16th here can he makes smoother passage over to 31 he's operating quite close to the peak of his powers here 232 is PV 230 his season's best the big American aggressive they're all know not to be on that occasion still a fair number of people here in the stadium two more attempts there for the American we have the men's shot put in the decathlon starting very soon so if you're starting to think about going out or making a cup of tea we're not quite finished yet in this morning's session Sam Barry he's in 13th overall here season's best for 229 can this hugely likable Italian produce his best clearance since that horrific injury last year no desperately disappointed there in 13th overall such a shame I really hope he manages to get back to the kind of form that took him to a national record at 239 they pulled that horrific injury meanwhile Brian McBride second attempt noses kampachi Watterson has just failed at 2:31 now got to be the bride should still be okay because of all those first time clearances then he would love to get over at that height [Applause] because all of Syria he should be okay even if he misses this but it'll be nice to get there for sure no very consistent series so far No [Applause] hopefully he will be okay if that nuke second attempt No long way shy so this is prot Senko and a bit like Tom berry he really needs this clearance world indoor bronze medalist three years ago as jumped to 40 and his absolute best to 31 or it's no place in the final so nowhere near you can see the bitter disappointment on his face there on in that's the view from his perspective living a little dangerously here know many of these men struggling with this height jebel cola senko Bondarenko and bashing the only men clear at the moment Ferrara must clear this for a chance of a place in the final no not this time he's only 22 an excellent clearance of 229 and he just salutes the crowd who have really enjoyed the high jump on that far side of the arena Rivera now remember this would be a second successive lifetime best for the Mexican who went absolutely wild when he Clinton 29 oh one of the better attempts we've seen of the last five or six so remember only fall over at the moment and getting ready for the decathlon shotput but as far as the top end of the arena is concerned this is our only action they have the full support and attention of the crowd even off in 11th place at the moment but he would want to make sure here [Music] this would be another lifetime best yes well what a brilliant season it's turning out to be for the 23 year old from Bulgaria he's only the fifth man over at 2:31 and he's joining the big boys Bondarenko bar shim Lysenko Chiu bilko and now the young Bulgarian with a new TV we will see him in the final good good clearance wasn't it Rob was the pressure on Hwang now of China he's in the 12th position top 12 needed so can Lang make absolutely certain of a place in the final five men are over even I've just produced a personal best this would be a season's best for the man from China no he is in 12th overall but there will be some anxious moments for him if he misses with his last attempt living a little dangerously the Chinese athlete [Music] [Applause] silver pumping himself up the South American champion needs this because he's down in 13th overall no nowhere near there well he required three attempts to get over to 26 so it's been a it's been a tough day for silver one last chance for him [Applause] 17 men over 229 good overall standard bashyam looks so so good Robi grab-ass 2:31 to equal his season space he's in 11th at the moment British crowd would love to see him get over here so it's you know it's a chance 20 minutes or so coming up here for the British Olympic bronze medalist one last chance for 231 just to mark your card by the way tonight we've got the men's hammer final the women's 3000 meter steeplechase the women's 200 great drama to come in the stadium as we edge towards the climax [Music] championship couple of days left now Ricky Robertson his face is a picture of concentration he needs this for a place in the final he's down in 16th overall [Applause] he had a third time clearance at 229 Brian McBride is kampachi does not manage to get over to 31 but he's cleared everything so far all that was close so one last attempt for Rickey Robertson and meanwhile these guys are sharing the attention of the crowd now with the decathletes who are about to kick-start the shop further and that's the standings after the first two events the hundred meters and long jump try not needing Warner by just three points but how close it is you can see that the top seven there with Kevin Meyer and particular to note in fourth place in 1898 is the lead at the present there's men in the 1700 region 15 hundreds down to 1600s we've lost three competitors probably I don't know the Dodger would necessarily want to continue we'll have to wait and see but that event just getting underway now that's the third events the shot foot which again is to puts side by side down the right hand end of the stadium that's the jump throwing order for the first lot and most of the top competitors in fact will go in the Group B of this competition here are the order there you see Kevin Meyer going second there FRA Mott in fifth place and we've also got in this group Turkish on orphan Rd Damien water throwing last in 18th plays so let's get a start and see how they're going so this is the second foot of the second book Ashley Bryant opened at 1409 now we've got Kevin Meyer not far off 16 meters at his best oh that's a terrific start for Maya that must be getting close to that 16 meter area as well no wonder he's excited personal best in the hundred fine long jump and now this is very close to his personal best in the shot the best possible start for the man that is seen I think by many is the heir apparent to Ashton Eaton to whom he took the silver medal in a Rio last year there it is 1572 and that compares with an outdoor personal best of 1576 meanwhile over in the other group this is salary he's got a personal best of 1443 did that indoors also 40 41 this year so he another man who's open well and that's pretty useful start for him he open very well he was just a hundredth of a second outside his best in the 100 meters quite the credentials of course of some of these other men but he's performing with great credit here just about hits that 14 meter takes just a little under at 13 91 Brian look bride should comfortably qualify but it would be great for him to finish his qualification with it clearance not to be disappointed but he's acknowledging the ground and he will be okay to go through in sixth place overall but thank you cleared to represent his coach and his club as a neutral just in July no no in here well that would have been a lifetime best call the authorized neutral athlete but a really good card so far and he soo should return for the final onion last chance he's in ninth overall that's why he's smiling five left to jump with one last chance to clear 231 now what about the fiery Mexican Rivera he's in ninth overall at the moment but remember there's the added incentive here that this would be a second TV TV clearance at 229 not old not to be but he's enjoying his time here in London a little sigh of relief Rivera still in 9 for jumps to go Wang now he really is living dangerously down in 12 No [Applause] so we have silver grab-ass and ricky robertson still left to jump to complete what's been quite an intriguing and high-quality high jump Pete Silva of Brazil 25 years of age needs this it would be a lifetime best bar what a shame finishes with a little bit of Brazilian flair for the crowd down in 13th overall so Robbie grab-ass here is the penultimate jumper to go getting himself ready only Gravas and Ricky Robertson the American left grab-ass is in 11th at the moment silver finished with a failure at 2:31 [Music] so grab ours looking okay at the moment but this emphatic clearance we're equally season's best this will give him a good platform for the final yes listen to the reaction great clearance there from Robby brothers he it was his season's best and once again he is delivering in this stadium that brought him so much joy back in 2012 moves up to six and more important than that because he totally would have qualified anyway even if he'd missed it it's the right way for him to go into the finals psychologically he Olympic bronze medalist equalling his seasons best with his third attempt so Robbie will be back for the final it's on Sunday around about 7 o'clock the very last jerk is orchestrating the crowd he would love to join Brian McBride was compassionate in the final needs this to do so can he replicate what Robin grab-ass has just done for Great Britain third and final chance for the American I thought he'd done it and so did he and a crowd that's probably the closest effort we've seen from someone almost getting over to 31 that is such a shame for a split second we all thought they got it but as a result of that near miss Wang holds on to his place in the final the agony and the margins in high jump are so so narrow water shame now back over in the shop we're still in the first round Lyndon Victor one of the very best shop footers the granadan his first attempt and is another big one as one would expect it's something like a 15 meter ish performance there Kevin Meyer of course has the best throw so far at 1572 Lyndon Victor now this is an event in which he looked for good points to move him up in the standings yes 1514 takes him up to two 506 now Devin Williams pastor 1451 agent champion indoors from the US [Applause] mmm disappointing it is his arm didn't get the trajectory right for that foot and that's way below right fund expect from him disappointing start [Applause] [Applause] 13:50 now we go back to Pool B for the event leader after the first two events Rico prime would and again the shot a good event for him the biggest draw yet and that's getting to be close to 15 meters I think it's not that yellowbeard indicating that he is the leader in the event after two we go fry Murtaza personal best of 1562 and he's been over 15 meters this year so not far short of that for there with his started 40 and 85 now then the young ty who we've been the first wave sink on nation champion bit rudimentary there in the shot that's an event in which he's obviously got some learning to do massive training load of course for these athletes having to practice so many of the different disciplines different skills and cincone starts with 13 meters 34 now this is the Serbian dude yes he's at a good start he's like seventh overall [Applause] Serbian record-holder over eight thousand two hundred points Canada discipline thank you very much nonetheless the important thing is to get a valid performance in first you score about 13 meters that scores in them around six seventy or so and see how he goes or 1268 [Applause] Yanik boy glen then another 15 meter footer of the young Estonian excelled in the European under-23 Championships and he to going well clear there's just got to sector lines drawn across two tapes drawn across the sector 12 meters and 14 meters so he's well ahead of the 14 meter mark [Applause] so I a Glenn 1483 now it's Kurt Felix strongman from Grenada he's got a best of what over 15 meters yeah but he's not quite as far as 15 with not far short a good start for Kurt Felix [Applause] both he and Linda Victor the two Grenadians both 15-meter putters in the shot in American collegiate training [Applause] and Felix starts at 1483 Scone teen course place betray Hajime barring a cat seeing a series of foots around the same area getting close to 15 party again he's gone near 16 his endure best of 1596 course the most experienced competitor in this field [Music] so Hardy off with an excellent 1516 now Martin drove we've seen quite a lot of him in the first two events and again he's a man who's got a best-of fairly well over 15 15 44 to be precise into getting in the high 14 months [Applause] [Applause] right Martin row then 1466 - throws to go in there spool most of all kite cosmetic now he's got a best of whatever 14 metres again so little short of it there this time Katz marette well-placed as we saw in the standings after two events we dropped back a little perhaps with the shot Kaczmarek getting 1316 has indeed dropped to place or to because he's count in seventh place two rounds to go of course in this this is the final part of the first series of throws Damien Warner of Canada and then picked silver members from specialists warned up because hi but well sure that's to say it's confirming a disappointing start to this competition for Damien Warner this is a man with the best well over 14 meters and this is a long way short so I think we can already remove Warner from the list of favorites for a medal for this event unfortunately and so he can prove me wrong yeah 1313 while what a performance from dharshan the only man to get up to 231 without a single failure bondarenko missed just the once on route to 229 that sent coach a bilko there Robbie grab-ass equaling his seasons best with a third time clearance at 2 24 to 31 and Wang just takes that last spot chambéry a season's best the Italians still making his way back from that horrific injury in Monaco last year no place in the final for Don Thomas champion in Osaka 10 years ago now we're into the second round of the shot foot this is Carl Robertson of Estonia and forth to 6 1 8 points fairly modest throw again by the Estonian [Applause] he's also been studying in the USA University of Georgia in his case the Bulldogs and that's only landing at about C no well it's quite a big improvement 1398 so he'll be happy after all with that now then pull B we've got the most of the big competitors here no one bigger than the man who now leads the decathlon at 273 points it's Maya [Applause] there you go another big one pretty happy I think I'd only it's any better than his first job mind you but it really has been a super start to the day for Maya you'll come back later for the high jump from the 400 meters in the evening session 15:43 this time for Maya thank you from well-pleased what he's already got there but of course a few extra points doesn't do any harm and here's Lyndon Victor another big one there for the man from Grenada he's one of the few men in the fields of course I've gone over 16 metres I think is the only 100 been over 60 metres in his career with long stride across the circle using the linear technique Victor has improved to 1586 9th overall he he'll do - there he's slipping back down the standings from seventh down to 14th so far but no daddy's fully capable of standing that shot distance see how he gets on second throw beautiful that's how probably it's not happy there take some advice now 1395 restores his position just a little up to 12 now it's all a estonian european team champion this year to explaining about the European Team Championships there is of course one for the full range of track and field events there's also a separate competition for multi eventers both the decathlon and the heptathlon and estonia with a great tradition are in the top league of that annoy playing cane knives on top in the decathlon no improvement so we go to the other grenade and Felix to see whether he can join his compatriot the end and vector as going over 15 meters so let's just look again at the good techniques being us demonstrated by the grenade ins as I said before take advantage of their us education and he's moved up over 15 1501 now it's Ghassan your 1572 is lifetime best not over 15 metres this year there and still not with it sir fairly decent performance by the Ukrainian twice the world indoor silver medallist and sixth and seventh and the fast to Olympic shows his consistency 1471 now to puts in almost identical area what to do right now we have a look at Shiro of Japan 1565 is best so one of these men having very similar personal best he started fairly modestly at 1343 oh we didn't really get behind that [Music] there might be a little better but I see at 10 he didn't manage to get his full impact behind that shot who's the Japanese record holder it isn't any batch up knows what it's got to do but the question is actually doing it wrong hit trey hardee still wearing that blue cap for all in blue the u.s. uniform very Hardy was the champion and then he had to yield to Ashton Eaton as he took over as the top American and the top in the world when the all-time greats the party back again stays in the circle but it's not going to be as far as his opening 15 16 [Music] [Applause] and now it's Martin Rove in the penultimate thrower in Group B mamita 87 tall 86 kilograms just about the perfect physique for a decathlete Norwegian champion now in the circle he'd started with 1466 love the crowd of course have dispersed but there's still a goodly number not a verb decathlete decathlon zealots for those will be following this with close attention of course the decathletes with the stage to the themselves as Montreux just improves there a little to 1479 now it's the German kite cosmetics well placed after two events but needing more from the shop has got a bit bit more possibly but not much this first round effort was 13 meters 60 that's worth 704 points on the international scoring tables [Music] national scoring tables have changed over the years to affect changes in their implements and so on and Casimir eclair improves now the latest set of scoring tables actually introduced by a long time ago now in 1984 with a whole series of previous ones and Damien Warner nor can he recapture something because he's been very lackluster by his own standards so far no you can't I'm afraid it's just not going right and that was just outside the sector on the right-hand side therefore the red flag raised so that completes the two rounds of Group B and we're now into the third throws in the a group with ciliary is that over 14 yes I think oh well now close to it anyway 1591 before then [Applause] now go 1398 again 1998 again well well very consistent the man who leads the event Kevin Meyer sure expected into in the lead this early it is expected to hit than the lead if you like at the end because he really is the new young star of the event after Ashton Eaton has retired high with the whole series of titles to his credit at junior level there's now looking for senior success Evan Meyer Olympic silver medalist former world junior champion European junior champion world youth champion next listen up Teflon which he did back in 2009 and now it seems in frying for 1572 so far no-no-no total anticlimax there but he's no doubt very happy what he's achieved and the crowd were appreciating his efforts pedantic climatic ending there for what a good morning he's had 10:17 in the hundred meters taking a tenth of a second off his personal best then very decent performances in both long jump and shot David Williams and he go higher than the mid-30s no he can't so no improvement so as with so many of the American multi-event as indeed many of the American team just a little under performing you get the superstars doing very well but a lot of the lesser athletes not doing so well let's just check again yeah well is oh oh well that's over the 14 meter line I was looking at the wrong line there yeah well big improvement it's late misled there and he's got 14 43 so four marks to Williams there and to Victor 1586 [Applause] no no better but that 1586 stands up as the best throw that we've seen this afternoon early afternoon here in the Olympic Stadium and their series but that 1586 very important in the second round now Rico prymaat now he's up in second place overall having been first after the first two events but shot-putting keeping him and strong contention just over 15 that shakes his head a little number fourteen I should say of course but histor also again had a pretty useful start to the morning and his best their fourteen eighty five to six seven eight points most of the top throwers coming in this B group and the sixth one on the line there is Adam Sebastian he'll select the check [Applause] game just close to that 14 meter line [Applause] Elsa let one of the decathletes with no particular outstanding skills in any one event but a solid or rounder and 1457 is one decent effort in the shot that's tell Jose Don another man who's been over 15 meters started with 15 meters 23 personal best is 1590 hysterical balances a little bit no improvement for the Frenchman so nor must change happening in this third set of throws with these men in the decathlon a Peter Brown of the Netherlands is the next one into the circle he's competing in his second World Championships haven't been 12 in Beijing European under-23 champion two years ago he just retains his balance there to throw a landing just over 14 meters Netherlands another country were who've had a lot of decent multi eventers over the years they did well of course in the women's heptathlon the decathlon not only brown of course but also real cousin Nicholas taking far today Browns best there as Matias blue gir comes into the circle in Germany started with 14 metres 83 [Applause] [Music] Ruger has done particularly well indoor competition now he had 1433 before that's ro and that's I think a substantial improvement there for the German groomer as I said when the indoors he was third in the World Indoor Championships when they're held in Portland Oregon last year back in March and again the fine tradition of Germany and the multi events that really excelled over the years and 1480 so although he's back in 20th place he's just moved up a little now we had a Glen 1483 then 1465 so far it's been over 15 indoors this year [Applause] not over dancing that's big yup I think that's over 15 and we certainly showing his pleasure at that performance one of the up-and-coming young stars in the decathlon [Applause] well there we go there's the delight of the man as we just about to check his measurement he knows of course as soon as he hit it that it was a absolutely spot-on there it is 1513 for my Eagle on him and his her personal best ever indoors of 15 15s and mighty close to that gut feelings [Music] [Applause] the grenade in there with no improvement and he over balanced and went outside of the circle so that red flag there we go that's let's look desperate to stay in but now but it wasn't this far anyway he's up tonight two five five eight because young but over halfway through the final round now of this Decathlon shop book because Janos been very consistent 1475 and 1471 as his opening cuts gianna became one of the most experienced competitors in this lineup regular and major championships and 1499 his best the day he's up to two five eight two in sixth place Naidu des struggling here in the shot I'm still struggling I'm afraid that's all that he might have wished for [Applause] the Catholics are using the rotational technique when that proves to be a little less consistent he was his best of the day but as I said at 1302 he won't be entirely happy with that they were coming towards the top throwers towards the end of the list in Group B and it's trey hardee over 15 start with trey hardee twice the champion and then picked silver medalist back in 2012 the world indoor silver as well one of the most decorated men in the decathlon [Applause] there we go no not as good so that first foot stands up his his best that maintains a pretty decent competition for Hardy if not quite in the form that he showed well nearly a decade ago now when he was at his absolute peak [Applause] [Music] Nev is enjoying it 15 meter 16 then Hardy for the shot foot to six for seven points nine third could yet be a slight change in the order but we've only got a few throwers to complete the third discipline in the decathlon bottom row [Music] now arose through from 1466 to 1479 [Applause] b2b could be Texas West look certainly one of the 14 meters [Applause] and he's got that 15 meter foot now it will be the same enormous leap so let's just check oh yes it is 15 22 Terry's on 5th place now he's had a good start to this Hector cathlin competition cosmetic he needs more and if it is more it's not much more so expression sums it up and he feels in the shot that's really usually very consistent across the whole range of disciplines just let himself down a little bit in this competition [Applause] well there we are 1378 is best so two five six six and who slips down to eighth place so just one competitor left in this shot before we close this first session of day 8 of the championships and it's Damien Warner of Canada who's having a disappointing Decathlon competition can he just rescue something here really seem to have it all in that's it maybe a little bit better but teams must be a bit ruefully about his efforts so far today spite the fact that he led the field after the first event the hundred meters tall Canadian puts that out and using the linear technique and his best of the day 1345 but he slips back from 2nd to 6th or 2 5 9 Oh points so we've had two pools of the shot there's the result of the first group headed by the American Devin Williams at 14 metres 43 that's worth 755 points also over 14 meters Eelco said Nicholas May so we bow Zach Tzemach and then the rest of the field following just under that salary we've been watching closely he's a very good first morning sakuya North just not disappointing - for the Russian competing as the neutral athlete Vanda plates in the European champion also a little bit below par we lost Suarez very early on hardly started the hurdles Santos was a non-starter so that's Paul a result most of the best competitors were in fact in the second group we saw the big 15 meter foots there they are Linden Victor heading the list at 1586 for 843 points from Kevin Mayer still excelling as the favorite jose rome rd i Klein and Felix all over 15 meters because yarn off and FRA Mott just behind most of the results following just a moment has got a site to a problem bringing up the results because actually we do get these results through remarkably quickly in this age of computers and so on compared to the times it used to take for people to consult the scoring tables and do the maths the computer does it all for us now in the almost the flash of a button but that fash is just a little slower at the moment but to stay where this will bring you the rest of those results in the moment there they are bruger leading at 1480 Kaczmarek slipping back a little at 1378 and the big disappointment the form of Damien Warner who managed only 13 45 so we've had a fine morning here in the stadium and let's reflect on the action we'll bring you the standings in the decathlon just a moment but let's just look back and what we've seen already this morning plenty to keep us enthralled and infused and of course this evening we will have another great evening I don't doubt for one moment [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so now we can indeed take a check on the Decathlon standings after three events Kevin Mayer has now moved into a 25-point lead to 73 from Rico firewood the former champion trihard trihard he is in third place the young estonian celery and the Norwegian row going well Warners slipping back though because Yaniv in seventh and cosmetic and Felix long way to go of course the standings will no doubt change of fair bit as we span through them some of the other big names there Linden Viktor in 10th place and Nicolas in 14th Sakura navien 16th and then Kruger Germany perhaps a little lower than we might have expected so to hell Salette and that's the first 27 and of course we've still got what 32 competitors know so those are the standings in the decathlon and the next event will be the high jump which will take place here at 5 o'clock so we've had a Finers fascinating morning as always we'll have an exciting evening no doubt we've seen some brilliant sprint hurdling we've seen some nice high jumping brilliant performance the performance of the morning Turki vich in the discus so we've been bringing you this on if' television from Gore Walker Catherine Mary and me Peter Mathews Steve event will join us in this evening for now farewell from London
