- Hello. Deputy [inaudible],, Greene County Sheriff's Office. I stopped you because you guys don't have any registration. DRIVER: Yeah. I'm aware that. And I am taking care of it. - OK. Well, that's why I'm stopping you. Do you have some ID on you? DRIVER: I do. And I think it's right here, I think. When you say you're taking care of it, what does I mean? DRIVER: That means I'm paying tickets and trying to get the tag fixed. It's [inaudible] $600. - I-- DRIVER: The tag is $600. - OK. Have you not paid-- DRIVER: It's not a difficult-- --your personal property tax? DRIVER: Not for this year. I don't have any insurance. And I don't have a [inaudible]. But if you look on there, you can see several different tickets. - OK. So your driving history will show me several different tickets? Is that what you're saying? DRIVER: That's what I'm taking care of. OK. Hang out for just a second for me. So she is well aware that she doesn't have license plates. She doesn't have insurance. She also doesn't have a title for the car. She hasn't paid her personal property tax. And she continues to accrue tickets from getting pulled over for these things. But she said if I look up her driver history, she will have several tickets that she has yet to pay. How long have you been driving this car without plates? DRIVER: Oh, it's probably been a couple years. You've been driving for a couple of years without plates? DRIVER: Yeah. But that's my free information to give you. I don't care what happens. Tow me. OK. DRIVER: So what I want to know is why you're detaining me on the road and trying to have this conversation. Either I have don't have tags or I have tags. I don't have insurance or I have insurance. So either-- So you don't have insurance. You don't own the car. And you don't have plates. DRIVER: Why do you think I don't own the car? It's not stolen. 629 code one. OK, here's the deal. Go ahead and step out of the car for me. DRIVER: OK. I didn't do anything. You don't own the vehicle. You don't have insurance. You don't have plates. You're not driving this car anywhere. I'm going to tow it. DRIVER: Why do I not own the-- PASSENGER: Are you serious? DRIVER: Why do I not own the car? Yes. I do. I have the title. You just told me you didn't have a title. Step out of the car. DRIVER: No. No. I did not tell you I did not have a title. PASSENGER: [inaudible] DRIVER: I did not tell you I did not have the title. PASSENGER: How-- how are we going to get home? There's actually three witnesses in the car heard you say what you said. You're not detaining me. You're not recording me. How about that? - OK. Would you like to-- would you like to verify why you're doing all this? Who's the car-- would I like to verify? Are you going to verify that for me? Are you? Are you going to tell me why I'm doing this? You're not-- and I'm being recorded too. So good. Like I'll stand sideways. - That's fine. - And talk to you. - So who's car registered to? It's me. To me. You just told me you didn't have a title to the car and you didn't own the car. I'm saying I had a title to the car. I'm sorry for the traffic that you didn't hear me. - 629. - But that's what I said. I'm stable. Is this vehicle registered to Alice [bleep]?? I'm clear. I just wanted to confirm. Thank you. - It's not registered-- - Your name-- - --because it was-- - Your name is Alice, correct? - Yes. OK. So you're not Sarah. - No. - OK. So the vehicle is not registered or owned by you. You don't have insurance. You don't own the vehicle. And you don't have license plates. That person does not own the car. Right now-- - And I have bought the car-- Because you guys are being cooperative, do you have a cell phone? PASSENGER: [inaudible] Do you know someone that's relatively close that could pick you up? - No, no, no. PASSENGER: [inaudible] - OK. PASSENGER: [inaudible] Are they going to tow this car? I am going to tow this car. And what-- for what reason? Yes. PASSENGER: How am I supposed to get to work Monday then? I don't know, sir. That's not my problem. PASSENGER: It's going to become your problem. Hi. I'm glad that you're recording because of that, too. OK. Look, for one thing, it's my right-- you're-- what are you doing? What? Step back there for me. Step back there for me. PASSENGER: Is she being arrested? Step-- no. Step right back there for me. Step out of the car. PASSENGER: What am I-- Step out of the car. PASSENGER: For what? I've just tested free of drugs [inaudible].. Here's the deal. I still have the right to the car. Stop reaching into your pockets. Turn around. I was putting my wallet in my pocket. Turn around. Put your hands back here. Here's the deal. Right now, you're being detained because there's four of you and there's one of me. You've already threatened to harm the camera guy. - All I asked is to-- - You're continuing to-- I have epilepsy. And those lights are actually wrecking my head. I'm not lying about that. - OK. That's fine. Come have a seat right here so you don't get injured then. Sit down. - Can I-- - Sit down. - --sit on the-- sit over there where the ground is not wet? No. You sit right here. DRIVER: We're making a show in the middle of-- Sit down. I'll be all right standing. DRIVER: That's lovely. I don't want to sit on the-- - OK. - I'm not arguing. I just don't want to sit on the-- the wet ground. OK. Here's the thing. We're past the point where you get to choose. When you started threatening people that are with me, that's where you don't get to choose anymore. So now I'm telling you to have a seat on the ground, for our safety and for yours. If you're telling me you're epileptic and there's a possibility you're going to have a seizure, you need to sit down. - Am I under arrest? - No. You're not under arrest. But right now, you're not to go. DAN ABRAMS: For what reason is your car going to be towed? Let me count the ways. Registration issues, insurance issues, title issues, just to mention a few.
