what's up guys and welcome back to another video I'm up here in snowy single town California just got done snow blowing the driveway and you know what I'm kind of sick of a cold I'm gonna go paddle in today I'm gonna take out one of my favorite boats but first I want to do some upgrades to it talking about the Crescent light tackle right there of course the bottom of the stack that's always how it works so I haven't been in this one in a while and James from Crescent kayak sent me on a new deck pad kit to check out so I'm gonna go down to the shop get that installed and then I actually I'm gonna take this down the Sacramento River maybe with a little bit of luck I'll be able to just slide this thing out oh yeah she does oh yeah also a huge shout out to my fishing team who got me this little guy for Christmas hopefully this will give me some much more stable footage also some ability to get some new shots so thank you guys I really appreciate it hopefully it steps up the content here in the YouTube channel all right made it down in the headwaters adventure company here in Redding and got my deck pads here in this box I've got one here for the light tackle and one for the ultra light so go through that but I want to start by doing is just taking my rag and a bottle of alcohol wiping down the deck getting it all cleaned up it also comes with this little grid that just shows you how it's all supposed to go on they label all the pieces so pretty self-explanatory and then application instructions clean the surface with alcohol got that we got our heat gun check apply it basically in numerical order blah blah blah you guys can read the rest there you go get some alcohol on here and then just wipe down get all the dirt and the grime off any of that stuff that gets underneath the sticker basically it's gonna cause it to not stick so what I'm gonna do now is just going off the little template that gave me kind of layout where I'm gonna want him to go and get a feel for the arrangement here it's pretty self-explanatory it's amazing on something as simple as deck padding really adds a lot to a boat a lot of it just makes it feel more finished more refined all right there you go I've got all 14 pieces sort of roughly laid out and then you know when I get going here I'll heat them up and then make sure they're all nice and even and we're just gonna start at the front we're gonna basically take this guy unpeel the backing heat up the area heat up the back of this stick it down [Music] all right that's it the finished product comes out so clean and for 59 bucks I feel like it really adds a lot of value and comfort to the boat so I'm excited to go get it on the water and check it out again and we're gonna go hit the Sacramento River we're gonna float from basically just above the sundial bridge down to Kouta spawn and it just get out for the day go for Powell I'm gonna go ahead and just throw a link in the description if you guys want to get your light tackle or ultra light tackle set up with that guys you can buy it from us on our website again that helps us out you guys it's a way to support the channel and keep what we got going on going all right into the launch we're gonna be doing the class 1 class 2 section that flows right through town here ready and we'll be going onto the sundial bridge so this hook should be my first time ever taking the light tackle and any sort of whitewater and I've had a little bit of moving current but uh we actually have a few rappers here that are I don't know they're not they're not trickier name but definitely good testing grounds for this boat I'll set my paddle there so you guys asked sometimes why I run a off set but I run a forty five-degree mostly because that's what I grew up using but also as I lift this paddle out of the water I lift it with my right hand which is my control here and as I rotate I naturally have a little bit of a kick to my stroke so for me 45 degree feels pretty neutral you guys see at Osprey right right our heads masters right up here a lot of fish in this river so bought an osprey Rob I got my heart going I forgot to take my scupper plugs out dumb I just was so focused on all these other things I forgot to do the most simple thing which is remove your scupper plugs but that's okay because it's a lesson for you guys if you're in moving water if you're in current always be sure to take those plugs out so the water kiff it comes on a can terrain through those holes there's no stop and appreciate my surroundings the fact that i-5 is less than a half mile away downtown ridings less than a half mile away yet you have this amazing beautiful piece of water flowing right through town definitely spoiled if you live in Redding they're the Northern California area to have this sort of resource right in town super happy with this set up quiet underneath my feet good grip it just looks and feels awesome all right you guys my buddy Stuart nice enough to pick me up and anyway we're gonna go get some coffee and hang out thank you guys so much for watching until next time this is Dan wishing you happy paddling get out and enjoy the adventure in your backyard you'll see on the next one
